[Q] A2SD/data2ext for r800i - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi everyone,
after 2 week of utilisation i see the memory of my phone going down, and i wonder to know if a flashable script like dta2sd, data2ext ( in order to extend the memory of the phone in a ext2/3 or 4 partition of the sd ) exist for our r800i (bootloader locked, yes i'm a bit freezy cause i don't want to loose the warranty )
I know that there was a lot of script like that for my legend but with r800i i don't know. I guess that with cm7 S2E do the job but i'm still locked,so...

Just use link2sd from the play store

Thank's man, it seems ta ne exactly what i need.
Juste few questions, is that stable and fait, is thé totality on the application is move?

Yes it's very stable and the whole app is moved

Cool, thanks again.

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.3 + App2SD/Data2SD

Hello dear friends. First of all - please excuse me for maybe the stupid questin i'm going to ask I want to say that i searh for this issue all day and i still can't find a satisfying answer
So lets start - I bought HTC Desire 2-3 weeks ago and of course i began modifying it I've tried tons of custom ROMS & stuff like this and i get to a final conclusion - the official HTC Gingerbread update 2.3.3 for the Desire is the best and i just dont want to change it It's simply the fastest one, without significant bugs and so on. The only problem is that i can't find a way to make my internal storage bigger I managed to do this with a custom ROM, but all of the ROMS were either laggy or with some major bugs that i don't like. So my question is:
IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE MY INTERNAL STORAGE BIGGER AND STILL USE THE OFFICIAL HTC GINGERBREAD 2.3.3 UPDATE
Thanks in advance for helping guys
One word- Supernova
Sent from my Desire running Supernova Extreme - Gingerbread goodness with Unlimited Internal memory
I just don't want custom ROMS buddy I've tried the Supernova, and i got some problems with the mobile connection... I reall want an official ROM with just more internal space
Well then you can do these steps:
Install ext4 support
Install init.d support
Install Busybox
Modify your kernel to add init.d and busybox runparts
Finally add a2sd or data2sd yourself
Each step has its own seperate thread on Xda. You can search and find it
Have been using supernova for a week or so now. Not had any issues and my apps run fine on Sandisk 8 gig class 4 with 1 gig EXT4 partition. Now with all my apps etc installed i have 839 meg free space for more apps. I don't think the Desire will get any more OTA updates as 2.3.3 was only available via download and came with several disclaimers.
Try Link2SD, only need is second partition.

Supernova is good -> 'Unlimited space'.
Droidzone and Sibere have released a new DATA2SD script which is fast and stable.
also good support!

Can Supernova be installed using Rom Manager?
edit: Doesn't look like Supernova will work for me, my Desire is CDMA.
Never user ROM Manager! It's a horrible software which causes more problems than it solves.
Just flash roms from recovery.

The stock feature with witch one can move apps to is called "Apps2SD". The apps can moved to FAT32 partition if the dev programmed the app for this.
The script which moves automatically moves apps to SD is called "A2SD / A2SD+". A2SD if you use this feature only for apps, A2SD+ if you also move dalvik-cache to SD. The partition is here.an EXT one. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if the dev programmed the app for this or not.
@OP:
Try oxygen ROM with the script which moves dalvik cache to EXT partition if you don't want to go S-OFF and flash oxygen hboot.

[Q] What version of CyanogenMod to install?

Hey guys,
This is my first thread...
So i got my Gio in april of this year, rooted in juli, flashed CM 2 days ago (did nandroid backup), and i think im ready to flash a new rom.
I have been searching on XDA for quite some time now but i can't seem to find a propre version of CyanogenMod 7.2.
I saw phiex (or what is he called again) thread and that version looks good but the thread is closed and his download link is dead.
I'm looking for a verry-stable ROM.
Does anyone have a link to the download / better version / suggestion for another ROM?
Also, i heard nandroid does not include the kernel... How to get back to stock kernel again if u need to? Just plain ODIN flashing?
When a flash fails and your phone is bricked. Will CWM be able to restore it?
I read somewhere Samsung has a binary counter to see if your phone is flashed to check if your warranty is still valid. Does Gio have this? Forum said you could see it when going into download mode, but i didn't see it when i checked.
If something happens to the phone (like when battery can't live without charger) and you have to send it back to Samsung, is it possible to remove all traces of root and flashing? How?
The apps2SD in CM, will it move all data to SD-card or is it like in the stock rom. (because internal mem is a serieus problem on Gio)
Last question: Will CM affect the market? I mean will you be able to download Temple Run for example, wich is not possible in stock.
Sorry for the huge amount of questions... :/
Who wants to help this flash-noob?
Thanks in advance,

-Install cm7 by marcin1147.
Its very stable.
-If u want a fast stable beatiful rom try MIUI GB by frankin96.
-If u want a new android version install latest cm9 by erikcas.
Its completely working except camcorder. Ics 4.0.4
-BTW for memory problem use link2sd. Its the best way to move all user apps and data to sd-ext.

LOL erickas cm9 laggs like hell I use CM9 by MaclawStudio and for memory problem use s2e better than darktremor and link2sd
I'll look into those roms.
MIUI does look nice, indeed.
I used Link2SD before btw and it wasn't all that great.
My memory filled up even with everything that could be moved moved to my SD.
Thanks guys!
Use Marcin his cm7 or Phiexz his cm7. Phiexz one is a little bit outdated but works great (his website is down).
Use a script for more intern memory like Amarullz ad2sdx script or CronMod-INT2EXT+ or intext4 if you have an ext4 partition on sd ext.

I've had great experiences with Link2SD. The only problem I had was that at some point Facebook wouldn't install, stating there wasn't enough memory. That was with about 65Mb of internal memory free...
A bigger problem was all those apps gobbling up CPU by apparently keeping stuff running in the background, which slowed things down considerably. So at the moment I *do* have apps installed and most of them are moved to the SD using Link2SD, but I don't have *too* many apps installed.
I use link2sd. Before i used S2E but experienced heavy laggs even with most stable rom though link2sd is good enough I have free 115 MB left in internal memory good enough for me.

-if you want go back to stock rom you must flash it with odin. nandroid backup doesn't work with stock roms because of different filesystems. and yes nandroid includes the kernel.
-when you softbrick your phone you can still arive the download mode. if it's an hardbrick your phone is dead (i am not sure if this is correct)
-the binary counter is only in the high-end phones like s2
-dont use app2sd. link2sd is the best
-no you cant download temple run. but its not rom related it's cpu related. temple run needs an armv7 cpu but our gio only has
an armv6.
you can download and install all apps which are available for stock rom on custom roms too...
i hope it helps you a little bit
sorry for my bad englisch
For me democrazy rom was the best cm 7.2 rom I ever used... untill now, recently flashed cyanmobile official, also has cm- settings and more included and I think its the least laggy rom I ever expirienced. Both roms work flawless with cronmod' s int2ext+ script.
My experience is that GB based roms always outperform ICS or JB based roms. With holo launcher you can add some ics style and features to GB without performance loss

I think CM 7.2 by Marcin is stable and speedly rom. But cm9/cm10 is more smooth(but some bugs, for example non-working videorecording e.t.c...).
PS when developers release a stable build of cm9/10 then this rom becomes the best rom much ever

I'm using JellyBread v2 now and i really like it, but the battery gets drained so fast...
I installed JuiceDefender but I didn't notice any changes.
I also don't want to underclock (think it's called that way), I like the performance as it is now.
The way it is now is okay, when I unplug the charger in the morning at 100%, I come home with 16%. (with some gaming on the bus)
But if I don't go home directly... Yeah...
How to save battery on cm-based roms?
PS: Brightness is almost at lowest level and I always turn off wifi.

I suggest you flash a custom kernel say cake kernel (search it in dev section).
make a ext4 partition (1 GB primary partition) (Can be made with custom recovery)
download link2sd and mount partition
reboot.
I would like to join the question. I've got some kind of stock rooted ROM with Hebrew support. So I still want to use it. I've installed pimp my rom and add init.d support. What can I install now in order to use an EXT partition? I'm looking for something similar to S2E on CM.
Link2SD didn't seem to work up until now.
yes flashing custom kernal will create int.d ... make a second partition... and flash one of this whatever you want...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 ...
i tried sometime... it doesnt worked for me.. try your luck...i red sometime it will work... if it works tell me,,,,
but sure link2sd will work... try sukhjit321 post above if you want...
I've added init.d support with Pimp My Rom, partitioned and flashed zip with INT2EXT+ with no luck. What I'm missing here?

ARC S creating partition + moving apps

hi,
i have successfully rooted my ARC S phone & installed Super Jelly Bean by Harsh586 (thanks to him). i would like to know how do i increase the size of the 400mb internal memory (i have 16gb micro sd high speed card inside my phone). also do i need to install ClockworkMod Recovery since i already have fusion 5.4 installed ?
last question can i install themes from google play because i'm not really big fan of the stock jelly bean theme.
for themes i think you can use a launcher that support themes like go launcher... just search in play store...

is really easy to make a partition work, but you have to see if your kernel and rom supports it!
just follow the threads that i have mentioned above and it will be alright..

Well, i've been using this rom a long time and i didn't have any of those problems (few lags in heavy games, but i don't say this rom is pure gaming - it's well balanced between gaming and daily eye-candy use)
Are you on lupus v7 kernel? R800i model?
Beside faulty sd card or faulty battery, i can't think of any other reason for random reboots. Is it happening on other roms you tried?

I use also link2sd, but only to move apps to sd that i can't move from settings-apps. I don't have extra partitions on sd card.
I don't think baseband is problem (i've tested it 62, 79 and even .631 from Neo L - still using last one). You can try that baseband from here (untick all, leave only baseband when flashing from flashtool).
As for kernel, both Lupus 720p and 480p is working nicely, but if 640x480 in mp4 format is enough for your taste, you can use 480p for better gaming permormance (i'm using that one)
As for rebooting, i really don't have any more ideas, maybe other users can help you more...

kernel is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167766
480p version is file named LuPuS_zeus_Stock-gB+iCsv7-ram.img (it's in second post)
If you are using 720p version, no need to reinstall anything, just flash 480p kernel from flashtool

In v7 CWM recovery bugs are fixed and few other tweaks in lupus menu (and updated sources or something like that).
You can flash v7 over v5 freely (no matter is it 480p or 720p version)
If you ask what type of roms it support, it works on sony ics and gb based roms
