Unofficial CM9 Build
This rom doesn't contain any mods. It is a straight build from the CM9 github repo github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git following this guide.
Build provided by sonicrules, however he has less than 10 posts and therefore cannot post in the development forum.
The code is normally compiled daily, but sometimes the pull happens in the middle of a merge on their end, or someone commits code that doesn't compile. We do not test the rom before posting. Try at your own risk as I have also had the black screen boot issue because the March 26th build was faulty.
Not working:
There is an occasional SOD
WiFi Location Services
Working:
Hardware Acceleration (thanks to hashcode's hard work on the 3.0 kernel)
Mounting as USB Storage
Changing time zone
Build provided by sonicrules
gapps.zip
Mediafire Download

I would assume since its directly from the gith, it'll be the same as all the other ICS ROMs....HWA will not work (flash/netflix/hulu) and USB host.

so basically this is just a cm9 build thats more current that the jc one, or ninds, whats different anything significant?
Yes that's all. There's no custom mods, or anything. It's straight from the CM9 repo. Just thought others might want a straight, no mod rom, without having to download the source, build, and compile themselves.

Please tell me you are going to become the official CM maintainer for our device! IDK who is doing it now but it sounds like you know what you're doing.
Thanks for listing sod on the list. Some cm9 roms don't have that listed and that's the reason I went back to cm7. Sod gets really annoying if u use your kindle constently.

Nice. Love all these ROMs coming out.
I've got some time on my hands, I'll give it a go. Does it include JDommer's newest WiFi tweaks? Downloading now on about < 100kb a second give or take. Lol. I'll let you know how she runs in 20-30 minutes? Also, what boot animation?
---------- Post added at 03:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 AM ----------
Flashed this and got a blank slightly backlit screen. Wouldn't boot.

OP isn't maintaining the build, he's simply downloading the source code and following the instructions on how to build it against the vendor files. Any progress for the KF ICS build will rely on Hashc0de's 3.0+ kernel.
OP, please don't feel that I'm disparaging your effort in any way - there are plenty of people who will appreciate this, I just wanted to ensure their expectations of what you're providing are correct.

I think you'll find that problem is due to surfaceFlinger crashing on boot. It was a problem a few months ago when I was contributing to the ICS ROM - workaround information can be found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20987972&postcount=48

Yes, that's right.
Thank you. Currently the builds are provided by sonicrules, however when I get an internet connection actually capable of downloading the source I'll make some modifications but that will be in a new thread. This thread will stay No-Mod CM9, straight from the source code.

That's because it isn't there. The code is pulled from http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git so it's not Kindle Fire specific until you integrate JackpotClavin's Kindle Fire Vendor files. When CM9 becomes an officially supported device by CM9 with it's own repo, then we'll pull from there.

You must be flashing a different Rom. Its CM9 when I flash it. Although it says it was built on March 22 and not on Mar 27 in the build.prop
On a side note, no matter what Gapps I flash, Gtalk just force closes. I've tried a few Gapps packages. Any suggestions? I use it a lot, so I need it.

thanks for the rom. I understand that devs are working hard to fix the issues with cm9 for kindle, but im tired of downloading cm9 roms... everyday the same thing with the same issues, devs should join up and fix the big problems like Hardware Acceleration or HD Videos. I don't flash anything myself until a the main problem are solved

There are devs working on fixing HWA, but its a problem with the kernel so only kernel devs can work on it. At least thats what I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have compiled CM9 for the wildfires CDMA and have got it to boot. There is still alot wrong with it but this is taking over the CM7 project i was doing before this. I may go back and get CM7 stable when this is done though, just because I hate leaving things unfinished.
Anyways, so far I have used alot of modpunks folders and kernel and modified them to work with the cdma version of the wildfire s. Its still being worked on heavily however. If you would like to compile the rom, instructions below follow. Of course you will need to have the environment already ready to compile roms.
::::NEW::::
I set out to fix wifi, And in turn I actually fixed a lot of things. Enough that I classify it as a beta, so seeing as that. Download link is below. Please, only report logcats or unknown problems. Thanks
Code:
mkdir ~/cm9
cd ~/cm9
repo init -u git://github.com/simonsimons34/android.git -b ics
repo sync -j12
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch 5
make -j2 bacon
Note this rom doesnt function well but does boot. If you'd like proof a precompiled rom is located here in this folder. I will make them whenever i build a change, and send them off to my testers.

Why don't you just send me patches so we have just one tree instead of forking? Forking should normally only be the last option. There is a reason why the Liberty and Marvel have a common kernel tree. Less work and everyone gets the fixes.

I had issues as well. I flashed clockwork mod through rom manager and then I was finally able to flash the rom.
All I get is freezes and restarts, no matter how I try to flash with this official. It's quite ironic really. Something that will FINALLY get me to shut up, and I can't flash it....

Yeah I used to get a lot of freezes and restarts when I was a noob and did not know what I was doing wrong with the flashing until I figured out it was my recovery. My phone (CDMA) doesn't like CWM version 5.0.2.6 or 5.0.2.8 or whatever those versions are. I am using 4.0.1.5 and things flash fine without restart. I have not tried this ROM and will try it later when I get more time but if it's random restarts during flashing and backups, then change your CWM to version 4.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't, sorry that I misunderstood your problem.

One more thing while I'm on this thread, does the phone get recognized as an Android phone under this ROM? I know with Sense 3.5, it didn't and so I could not install Swype Beta and I can't live without swype on this small phone. Thanks to whoever answers this.

Rename the zip file. I've had this with twrp before and shoving a few _s on the end in front of the .zip seemed to work.
If that doesn't work I would normally rebuild but in your case you would re download so try that.

I spent the entire day yesterday trying to make Android Revolution HD work on my I317. At the end of the day, success ! and here is how:
Please do not experiment with this stuff if you're not familiar with partitions and the way things work. You do run the risk of bricking your device permanently if you don't know what you're doing. I'll write this so that developers can start porting their ROMs to the LTE variants.
The two devices are identical except for the modem (and rild files) and the GPS initialization at bootup.
1. You'll need to rewrite the updater-script in most CWM flashable ROMs to make sure.. again, MAKE SURE that you do not flash anything else except /system /data and the boot partition. Overwriting your modem partition with a modem from the N7100 phone or the bootloader partitions will blow up your phone. You've been warned ! The partition labels and numbers are identical so you won't have to change that.
2. Make sure you bundle a kernel (boot.img) from one of I317/N7105 (depending on which device you own). Obviously we're talking about TW kernels here so for example stock JB kernels or Perseus will do just fine. Do not flash boot.img kernels from the N7100 section.
3. You'll need to add and remove a bunch of userland library files from your device. I won't attach these files here but you can grab them from any I317/N7105 ROM:
Files to ADD/REPLACE (Yes, every single one counts as they're dynamically linked). The stuff in /system/bin are started by the initramfs in the kernel so add them all in as well:
Code:
./system
./system/bin
./system/bin/qcks
./system/bin/sec-ril
./system/bin/qmuxd
./system/bin/efsks
./system/bin/diag_uart_log
./system/bin/netmgrd
./system/bin/gsiff_daemon
./system/bin/ks
./system/bin/rild
./system/bin/qmiproxy
./system/bin/secstarter
./system/etc
./system/etc/gps.conf
./system/lib
./system/lib/hw
./system/lib/hw/audio.primary.smdk4x12.so
./system/lib/hw/gps.default.so
./system/lib/hw/audio_policy.smdk4x12.so
./system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so
./system/lib/libnetmgr.so
./system/lib/libaudio-ril.so
./system/lib/libloc_api_v02.so
./system/lib/libril-qcril-hook-oem.so
./system/lib/libqdp.so
./system/lib/libdsutils.so
./system/lib/libqmiservices.so
./system/lib/libqmi_client_qmux.so
./system/lib/libloc_adapter.so
./system/lib/libqmi_common_so.so
./system/lib/libqdi.so
./system/lib/libqmi.so
./system/lib/libcsd-client.so
./system/lib/libloc_eng.so
./system/lib/libqmi_encdec.so
./system/lib/libqcci_legacy.so
./system/lib/libqmi_cci.so
./system/lib/libssaudio-client.so
./system/lib/libidl.so
./system/lib/libril.so
./system/lib/libqmi_csi.so
./system/lib/libdiag.so
./system/lib/libdsi_netctrl.so
./system/lib/libgps.utils.so
./system/lib/libgps.so
To remove !!! Moi importante !
Code:
./system/lib/hw/gps.exynos4.so
If you don't remove that GPS exynos4 file, HAL will load it and never the gps.default.so file so your gps won't work. Took me three friggin hours to figure out.
4. Lastly, you'll need to change build.prop so that it loads our RILD files instead of the N7100's:
Code:
replace
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libsec-ril.so
with
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so
5. ???
6. Profit.
When I get sometime, I'll try to port CM10 from the N7100 tree. Done.
im going to try this I hope it works thanks

I don't think that will be possible until we have an cm10 kernel built for our device first, can't switch in a TW kernel for their cm10 kernel without possibly bricking our phones
And to the OP of this thread:

I'm going to port the standard CM10 that is available at github.com/cyanogenmod Once this is completed, then we can incorporate that to all AOSP based roms.
The kernels are actually pretty close to each other. (have a look at the defconf for details). What's different is the initramfs and the userland binaries/libraries. I'll have a look at it but I need to get this audio going on TW roms first.

I'll gladly set up a Google Code Page for you...I'll do the same thing I did for randomblame and his original Jellytime Project...link to that project page is in my sig.
I apologize for those that had wanted an evervolv rom ages ago and I didn't come through for ya. So here's a jellybean 4.2 rom. It's rough, but definitely something to work with. I'm gonna keep this post short. Read through it for links to releases, nightlies and source.
Right now the current source we are working on is Jellybean (Android 4.2.x).
For those that don't know what evervolv is, Evervolv is an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) rom. We're fully open sourced and encourage it with no restrictions. The work put into this rom is community driven and and Evervolv Project is made up of numerous members and contributors.

No, that's just what is confirmed by me. The device I use to test these builds out is not activated, so data/cell could not work for all I know. This is the first release build I've done for this device, and will need input as to what to fix with Jellybean 4.2.
I appreciate any new development, but unfortunately no wifi is a deal breaker. I'll keep my eyes on it for the next version. Thanks for the development.

2nd attempt:
Flashes different gapps for jb.
Same issues as first attempt.
3rd attempt:
Wiped again.
Installed rom.
Did NOT flash gapps.
Rom booted fine.
No data or cellular connection.
Tried to insert APN for Verizon. While searching for apn phone went to sleep.
Could not unlock phone afterwards. Just a blank screen.
The rom did boot so that is a good start. Need to figure out why cellular service is not functioning and why the gapps are failing.

Flashed gapps.
Upon boot com.google.processes failed then setup wizard failed.

Will do, if I can ever get the gapps to download over 3g.
Edit: Well, it didn't get past the splash screen with Aero's v15 kernel. I may tinker a bit more, but I need my phone to be a phone, so...

Okay, after using the kernel failed I tried a normal flash. I was able to boot it and run through setup with gapps installed. I didn't have wifi or verizon data, so it couldn't log me in, so I skipped all that. It seems to run nicely, but there is no built in camera app. If it had data I would have tried a 3rd party. There is a "nightly" released already today, so I wonder if it has any improvements or if the dev is going to have to work on some device specific fixes for the carrier first. I'm definitely willing to keep trying, but I'd like to hear from the dev as to when we might see the data/phone stuff working.
Thanks for bringing it this far.

The ROM looked really nice while I was able to run it. Also to the OP.
On the lock screen the clock is sized wrong. The bottom of the numbers are cut off.

This won't work as 4.2 required a little updating of the kernel. For those interested, the source is linked in the op.
As for data, ill look into some fixes tonight.

Okay,
It boots up fine
no wifi obviously
no data
usb storage didn't work for me
did get com.android error at first boot, but not again.
I'll post some screenshots once i restore back.
Screenshots for those...
Not sure if this will be any help, but here is a logcat
EDIT: Sorry guys, I won't be maintaining this anymore. I really apologize, but there's just too much to do nowadays. I will still maintain my carbon builds. (These boot and work without modification right now, for some reason my slim build won't boot, and I don't really have time to figure out why, because it could be an issue on my side or their side)
The moderators can end this thread if they wish to.
Carbon: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46548342
I shall still leave my jellybean build here though.

Are you really the dev of these ROMs? They seem a bit untrustworthy, since you or anyone else hasn't tested them.

He is compiling them. The Kindle fire base and the kernel is developed by Hashcode. Slim, AOKP, and Carbon implementations are all created by their perspective developers. Does that answer your question? Compiling a Rom is just a matter of setting up the proper environment and repositories then letting it rip. Well there`s a bit more to it than that but you get the jist.
Yeah he's exactly right. ^ also, I test the first build to make sure it does work and then I put it out if anyone wants to use it. I am building these myself. I can take screenshots of the builds straight from my computer if you'd like.
I may not be able to maintain all these ROMs, but I'd like to put the options out there. I might have to request for other people to maintain the aokp and slimbean thread if life gets too busy. I was originally only planning on maintaining carbon.. So I will keep going with that.
Thanks for the ports. Slimbean runs well, no real problems or quibbles I've found so far.
36 hours and one full cycle into this one and all is good. Seems SlimBean has settled in nicely on my KF. Thanks androidsftw! Your efforts to bring this variety of ROMs for us is greatly appreciated here!

Actually, it's not rare at all.
Not sure why people are being skittish about using the ROM, I've run it for about a week now and it's rock solid stable! Fast and smooth...definitely one of the best 4.3.1 ROMs out.
Edit; Ive been using a few of the KitKat 4.4 system apks ( Play services, email, GEL Launcher, keyboard...) from here without any issues, making this Rom just that much more awesome. Can't wait for SlimRom to get updated to the new base!

To be honest with you I already have cm 11 and aosp built for the kindle fire. Unfortunately I can't test either until twrp releases a new build with kitkat support. I attempted to build twrp from source.. And it did build.. But let's just say the recovery doesn't work well xD.

The first gen and HD Kindle have people active on the 5.0 development, just wondering if power user here is working on a 2nd gen rom for us.
Wrong section to post.
Sent from my PAC'ed Amazon Tate using Tapatalk
No, I think he posted in the right section. And no I don't think anyone is working on a 5.0 ROM sorry, no one really builds for the Otter2 (KindleFire2) anymore but me and I rarely do that. Since Hashcode moved on to work for Linaro we are pretty much dead in the water, sorry bud.
Ok, thanks man. Do you think it would be too much work to port Hashcode's Kindle 1st gen ROM to the 2nd gen?

Well... Porting is not possible.
I have a first gen. What hashcode did was he made a new partition layout, bpotloader, and recovery for it, which made it COMPLETELY different from Amazon's device. So hiss 5.0 for pur device is OtterX. Anyways, ROMs can't be ported between two devices anymore. So unless hashcode is working for it, its done.

Porting between the two has never gone well..can I try and make a 5.0 ROM yes. Its been one of those things I've been meaning to do just haven't gotten around to doing yet.
I hear ya, what can we do, if you guys ever come up with something I'll gladly give it a try
Thanks!

Please, please do this.
hashcode pushed all the changes for compiling 5.0 to github, just a matter of making a few changes in otter2 device tree. I will compile it today and see what needs to be done. Don't expect too much because cm-12.0 is still alpha.
Update
cm-12.0 uses an android partition layout, hashcode uses a different bootloader and twrp for OtterX. Unless someone can make cm-12.0 work on Amazon partition layout we won't get it.
Could the otterx stuff be ported over?

I have been looking at the tuna partitions and they use the same layout as amazon so could be done. Using the otter cm-12.0 repositories it won't compile so I'll compare it with cm-11.0 and try again.

The otter-common and omap4-common has cm-12.0 updates, just not the otter2 device repository. So far I haven't been able to compile otter2, going to keep working on it. But today I will be upgrading to Fedora 21.

I'll help test if needed. I did want to restore back to factory, but I lost all my PC backups. I'm loving LP on my LG G2, so having it on my KF2, or even Ubuntu touch/Firefox etc to play with would be great.
