[Q] Need help - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently unlocked my tmobile mytouch 3g slide's bootloader with the htc method and i'm having trouble flashing a recovery with the command prompt fastboot thing. it has:
Code:
c:\Android>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (4528 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.971s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: image update error)
finished. total time: 0.976s
I've seen people before who have unlocked the bootloader with the htc method do this but did not get the error. Any help would be great thanks.
Update: I'm sorry for being stupid, haha, i found out that the recovery img wasn't compatible with my phone

YOU CANNOT USE Another device's recovery. "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-hammerhead.img" is for Nexus 5 and won't work on Nexus.
Try flashing another recovery WHICH IS for Maguro.
OR if you have toro or toroplus then flash the correct recovery for them.

Saving Data from locked, bricked device

Hey there,
as the title of the threat already indicates, my HTC One X got bricked.
As this usually happens when trying to flash some custom roms or recoverys, in my case it is the result of an official HTC update for android.
I can boot into Fastboot, and via cmd "fastboot devices" does show me the connected phone.
Now my approach for solving this matter was to flash the clockwork mod and then boot into recovery.
From there i wanted to pull data from the phone via adb commands.
The only problem is that my phone is locked. I cannot unlock it at the moment without wiping all data (which obviously would miss the whole data recovery point).
When i try tp flash the CWM in fastboot i get:
sending 'recovery' (8100 KB)...
FAILED (unknown status code)
finished. total time: 0.933s
I also tried to directly boot a recovery via fastboot boot recovery.img.
This resulted in
downloading 'boot.img'...
FAILED (unknown status code)
finished. total time: 0.933s
Well now I am seriously frustrated and dont know how to get my data.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Cheers
Josef

[Q] Swapping Cyanogemod Recovery for TWRP or Philz?

Hi I've been trying to flash a new recovery image over the recovery that I'm currently using ("cyanogemod recovery" (I understand that this is purely for CM updating)) but I can find no way of doing it. Via fastboot this happens (using mac terminal) after typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img:
sending 'recovery' (11044 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.693s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.696s
Do I need to delete the cyanogemod recovery and run this command?
Cheers in advance! (if laymans terms could be used as much as poss that'd be appreciated too!!)
