Evo and 4g. Why's it so hard? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why is finding a decent Rom for the Evo4G with 4G so darn hard!!!!!
What makes the Evo/Android OS so hard to incorporate into Roms?
If their are any 2.3.5 + 4.67 +4 G Roms that are worth trying let me know!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,

MikG 3.11, is definitely worth a try

Ummm where have you been looking? Swagged out stock(any of them), team nocturnal stock or ics-ish. Diablos annihilator. All 4.67 and amazing. Plus, the classic by tommytomatoe should drop any day now and that will be ridiculous. I'm currently on SOS x ca1nes classic kernel and it is great. Definitely gonna get tommys DL'd for a test ride.

This behavior happens due to the way in which batteries are charged. It happens on many ROMs and kernels for the 1st 10%. What is important is what happens after that. If you want to avoid it entirely the only sure-fire is to use an SBC kernel.

That makes you completely ignorant for making that statement. Yes it is harmful in the long run, and they don't include it because of that and the things that can happen to that battery that cam cause the user harm.

try swagstr SOS X, it is my daily driver and doesn't eat the battery up on mine.. You may also want to download a battery calibrator after flashing a new rom

My fault. Sorry. I'm running that CM7 19 VERSION. I am using the red theme from the market. I can't use juice defender simply cause it doesn't support gingerbread yet. I'm using 60676 prl. Can't even find the pri but I'm assuming it's still 1.77 unless cm came with 1.9.
Flashed it 24 hours ago. Haven't switched kernals cause I have had horrible experience with anything other than stock with myn's. I reinstalled all my apps and kik messenger is on lockdown with autostarts. So therefore it doesn't eat up partial wake time and doesn't open unless I do it manually.

Stock, until you get those issues ironed out. "Stock" sounds lame, but CM7s kernel is far from stock
After that, I use savaged-zen with much success. Though everyone will tell you that kernels behave differently with different phones. Spend a week trying a few for like 2 days at a time and see which one you like the most Also, play with the governor settings (under settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance). I personally use the SZ kernel with the "interactive" governor and find it to be the best balance between speed and battery life.
Interactive all the way man!! DATS DA BEST!

Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I like kings rom. It is fast and the battery life is great.
i would honestly say the best Gb rom is Savagemod1.1
I used savagemod 1.0 for the longest because, it was the most stable rom.
It has working: 4G and GPS, it's quick and snappy.
As a matter of fact I just flashed the 2.6 Savage kernel and I'm having the HARDEST time draining my battery. I've got 4g on, wifi on, blue tooth, wireless tethering, live wall papers, pandora, and the flash light on and it's literally taking forever to die. At the current rate, it's supposed to live for another 4 hours... >.<;; I want to kill it so that it can charge from the beginning, (rambling lol)
Yeah in the end. If you want a quick, reliable, and most of all stable rom. I'd go with SavageMod 1.1
I like to stick with the originators, the real og's in the game and thats cm.

No. Its aosp based.
I'm currently on cm7 nightly 14. I picked it up and felt no reason to flash after that. What I love about it is the battery life, I'm always wondering how people pull off these ridiculous numbers, but I can get 30 hours of light usage with the clocking governor on conservative. It also has a bunch of awesome cyanogenmod settings specifically. These are awesome, I have gestures on my unlock screen to turn on torch and go to spring pad and such. It's fairly fast and smooth. I ran MIUI for months and loved it but it eventually started acting up and slowing down and I missed the android look. The only thing that takes trouble to work every time is gps. Oh btw wimax is blazing on this rom!

Here are the top six roms in MY opinion that are the best...
1.)StarskyROM (The one nobody talks about, but offers the BEST performance, in exchange for a couple bugs, that absolutely relate nothing to user-experience-quality. Pretty Stock, balls to the wall speed, not bad battery)
2.) LegendaryRom
3.)ACS ICS (Dont think its being updated anymore, Marcusant created MarcusantRom, listed below, which is basically the same thing as ACS ICS)
4.)SleeperRom (Amazing battery life)
5.)MarcusantRom (Incredibly Stable, Fast, Amazing Looks)
6.).....no need to list beyond this point, its all a matter of personal preference.....

What kind of quadrant score do you get with the shadow kernel on stock settings? I'm running starskrom, flashed the shadow kernel, and now I'm getting 250 less of a score on quadrant. I've gerard some people saying they are getting 3000 or more. That not possible without overclocking right?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
That is correct. You need to OC to get that score. Quadrant is crap and can be easily spoofed. It does just some number crunching and a few video routines. The best judge of performance is how it works and feels for you. If you are hung up on whose benchmark is bigger, stick to smartbench 2010.

Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
Codename is the best rom out there, except its kinda like aokp, so either of them, except aokp is based of cm9, so either of the three, except they are aosp, so maybe try a touchwiz one, but i heard that fc24 has worse battery life than fc22, but maybe if you update your profile.......whatever, flash them all
Like Epix said, it's all subjective. If you're starting out, you should probably stay with Gingerbread roms. There are several good ones, check the android development thread. I prefer Calkulin's Gingerbread (currently at v3.0) not only because of the stability but also for the stock color scheme/dialer etc. Most of the other roms are themed with different colors that are I just don't prefer.
Calkulins and Phantom Hacker's Blazer seem to be two of the most popular but you will have to try several to see what works best for you in appearance, speed, battery life and features!

Right now I'm on miui trying it out for the first time getting used to no app drawer. Favorite ROM for a daily (if I had one lols) would have to be Living Rejects. I flash it at least twice a week. Its pretty much my goto when I need a good solid dependable ROM for GPS and coverage while traveling. The battery life is effin amazing and music come out really loud and clear. But I will say once our beloved devs get cm10/AOKP/PA etc running solid for jb I will prolly be going back to PA or try out KK again. I love the UK customization options. I ran ICS aokp as a daily until jb started seeping its way into my veins now I'm flashing like there's no tomorrow can't wait for volume bug fix ^^

I run PA 2.54. I love being able to chg dpi per app easily and I am a CM fan. CM10 (which PA is built on) is fast and I get good battery.

I remember trying PA, and I was getting absolutely terrible battery life. Is there something I may have done wrong?

I'm running blazer 4.1 gingerbread I like ics and jb but I always come back to blazer 4.1 gingerbread because to me it is the most stable, faster, and battery life is much much better.

I still use the calkulin v3.0 custom gingerbread rom because it has been the most stable, fastest, and longest lasting, battery life-wise. I recently tried the one-click fk23 jellybean but ran into some problems so I flashed back to calkulin...Gonna try the fk23 again tomorrow though. ;p
