[Q] Portable/Emergency charger - Galaxy S II Accessories

ok so this is just for fun ( for now ) but i might seriously consider if it works and is cheap
so i'm looking for emergency charger.. so far that i've searched there isnt any thread asking for specifically this type of emergency charger..
the charger needs to be:
the cranking type AKA hand generator (u crank/spin the pipe to generate the power)
it has to obviously be able to charge our SGS2 (enough output)
does any one have one of those? or have experience of using it with SGS2?

I suggest you these:
http://www.duracell.co.uk/en-GB/product/portable-charger-1800mah.jspx
or
http://www.lindy.co.uk/portable-power-pack/84881.html
the last one has an attractive design!! So, these are the best 4 me

maybe i described the thing i'm looking for poorly... i DONT WANT charger that u insert AA battery OR charge it from somewhere and then recharge your SGS2
i WANT the charger that u need to generate your power by yourself...
something like this: http://www.soscharger.com/
but compatible with our SGS2

Recommend a AA battery USB power supply?

Hi all,
Just wondering anybody could recommend a "AA Battery Powered" External USB power supply for UNI?
I seen some people use a mint box and 4 AA batteries to make a USB power supply, but I figured I might just buy a existing product.
Or does anyone has better solutions for power supply when you are away from computer or a A/C wall?
Thanks!!!
I just buyed this one and works great!

You can have 2 normal battteries, one on charge
Hey Orb,
I have one of those and I centainly like the colorful flashing when it charges
However, I think u misunderstood what I meant, I was look for a changer that takes AA batteries, then convert the AA battery power into USB current to charge the phone.
something like this: http://www.boxwave.com/products/batteryadapter/
But again thanks for reply
oops, my mistake
Hope you found what you are looking for!

What about this one?

I seen this Mint Box project, it's DIY, you only buy the parts....not sure about, I'm more leaning towards something a little more pro made i guess. plus the price is not a huge gap
Yeah but it looks fun
post double submitted
I've got an energiser one I bought for a few quid. Takes 2 AA batteries and then has an adaptor that plugs in to convert to mini-usb.
Unfortunately shop brought, but I certainly wouldn't spend mega bucks on something similar!

Recommend most powerfull juice pack

I had seen them for iPhone, just connects directly to the port. I am looking at these http://www.amazon.com/PowerGen-External-Capacity-sensation-Thunderbolt/dp/B0073F92OK but need ur opinion and advice
They seem like a cool idea, but then again you have to plug them in to charge, then if your phone needs juice you would have to have this dangling from your phone.
I think it's easier for 98% of people to just plug their phone into a wall or car. We are all around them often, maybe the people in a job field like construction or similar jobs could use this....then again for the most part they don't have time for playing on their phones so should be no issue for a charge to last all day.

i got something like this, its a little inconvenience but good for airplane ride.
I think extra batteries like this will soon go the way of the dodo. Almost everywhere you go there is some sort of power source. Most everywhere except for the lesser developed countries offer free electricity in public areas. This MIGHT be useful if you are the kind of person who likes to travel to these areas but otherwise, it's very niche specific.
I have a power pack that I use to charge my spare battery (in a Samsung charger). Then I don't have it hanging off the phone, and am getting the full potential charge (as the phone isn't drawing additional power while charging).
With my sg ii, I could get 3 swaps before empty. Very handy on vacation with no available power.
As for the sg iii, I may need to bump up to a slightly larger pack, but then again, the standard battery life has been better.

Dual USB Car Charger

I'm in the market for a Dual USB Car Charger; there's a million out there anybody have any words of which ones to avoid and which ones are great for any particular reason?
I have this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-USB-Du...r-Adapter-iPod-Touch-iPhone-3-4-/320861775339
Let me tell you, the quality is really great. Its firm and tiny, plug it in the cigarette port and it doesnt even look like its there. Doesnt stick out. Its belkin brand, i can upload pictures later to show you how tiny it is which is good.

That one looks nice, but does it (or others that people post) do 1a output on each port at the same port? Many spilt the output to .5a each when 2 devices are plugged in and that's just not enough.
Yes. Its 2.1. It splits in half. 1.5 each port

I'm not 100% sure but the max the whole unit can dobis 2.1 amps. So you will get about 1.05 amps per Usb port if you have two devices plugged in. Of course your device limits the amount of current it takes in.....
If you need something to compare it to, one Usb port on this cigarette socket charger should be as good as the stock samsung wall charger.
I just ordered two of these myself.

If you have 2 devices plugged, each will get 1.5. I'm not sure about just 1 plugged in, i haven't really looked into it. I just know it works great, 1 or 2 devices plugged in
Sent from my SGH-T999
The Scosche one in my earlier post can simultaneously supply 2.1 A to a tablet / Sat-Nav or second phone etc and 1 A to a phone. It has dedicated ports for both which are clearly marked. You can of course use the 2.1 A for a second phone if required and it will supply only what the phone will take. :good:

Are you sure? The auction wording doesn't really make it clear. Having dedicated ports in a dual charger at that price would be somewhat uncommon.

so you are saying it is magic?
2.1 total, means it could output 1.05 MAX to each, not 1.5
also, to pull more than .5 amps it needs special internal wiring to tell the phone it is ok, and that wiring is different than what an iphone uses.
I bet you are pulling .5 amps on each, and do not have a full understanding of the device.
just walk to the closest Verizon Store and ask for the dual USB car charger the output is 1a per slot @ $19.99.
there's better deals online but i truly hate to wait a week for my item to arrived

I meant 1a each. It makes sense what you are saying. I just have others that seemed to have claimed that yet if I charge 2 phones at the same time, neither one gets enough power to charge.
I had $.50 ebay bucks expiring, so I'll just order this for $2.95 and hope for the best.

I bought two of these and I just got both of them. Really quick shipping as it comes out of NJ. I have not yet used them but when I do I will post back with how it is.
I gotta say it is really small and it should be flush once installed.
I would make sure each port has the dedicated amount of power needed for each device individually, if the overall power is split between the two it could be possible for one device to draw the MAX power of the charger, if theres a fault in the phone this could happen, correct me if im wrong but genuine SINGLE chargers limit the power needed by the charging device, im not sure if the device itself can limit the power entering it
Devices will only draw whatever power is needed for them to charge, so if the overall power of the charger is reached due to two devices connected, the devices will TRY to draw what they need, this can damage the charger itself over time, and if theres a fault in the phone itself it can draw more than it needs because the charger can provide double whats needed

Basic DC/DC Buck converter.. give it switched 12V behind the dash somewhere and mount the USB port.. no wasting the 12V accessory port.. and can close the ashtray then...
I use it to provide power to my dock in the car.. (infuse dock).. works great and looks stock.
I also have a griffin powerjolt that I can use between cars.. one port is 2.1A and the other is 1A

I have had experience with this charger and here is some info (saying it si the griffin one they picture, and not some cheap knockoff... notice it even says griffon in the pic):
it WILL charge an S3, and an S2 at the same time (neither were navigating though...)
if you want to switch it to AC (fast charge) mode, you need to either:
a. open the case, and wire the data pins together
or
b. have a charging cable that has those pins already wired togther.
that is how you fast charge with this device. good piece of kit though, i would recommend to anyone.

I get the same thing when I use a T-Mobile branded universal charger. It says Incompatible power source, please use charger that came with the phone. I think it still works, just that it won't charge as fast as the one that comes with the phone.

doing a quick google search, it seems the HTC ONE need to have a 2.1amp charger... the Mophie Powerstation, according to the website, goes "up to" 2.1amps output. If for any reason the Mophie is having problem keeping a stable 2.1amps going, that is probably the issue and the reason for the error. If you have the tools, or know an electrician, you should have them test the output for you to see how stable it is and if it is really putting out 2.1amps
P.S. IIRC, too low of an output can be just as bad as too much...
I picked up the Anker Astro Slim 2, very thing and built in cable to, 4600mAh. Even take it with me when i go clubbing, fits in my back pocket like a pack of gum. size of like another phone. Also charges my phone relatively quick. If you live in the usa i think its only 30$ on amazon

I use the same thing, works great with my HTC One. No warnings or anything, although the charger is only 1A output.
I can hold both the battery pack and the phone in my hand just fine too.
To be clear, its like a pack of gum in those long slim pill-like packages. Not the old school stick style gum haha.

See what doing a "Quick" google search will get you.... called out!
After doing a slightly longer google search, on the Mophie Website, the ONE doesn't show up on their compatibility chart.
http://www.mophie.com/v/compatibility/compatibility-ps-111212.html
And sluflyer is correct. 5V 1A Charger, tried to find the full output specs for the juice pack, but didn't come up with them. Either way though, my guess is that there is a difference in the output Volts/Amps from the Mophie than what the HTC ONE is rated for...
I used to get such warnings from my iPod Touch all the time (it was stuck with a sheet of PuGoo adhesive to the wall above my bed, so the only way I could get a cable up there was using a low-voltage USB hub). Never had any battery problems there, although as others mentioned you're liable to face increased charging times and the phone may not register as charging. It's usually suitable for trickle charging while the phone is powered down, though (and you may get a little juice if your phone is in low-power operation).

Magnetic Type C Cable

Hi guys
I m searching for a Magnetic type c Cable that can support the quick charge 3.0. The EU version of the LG G6 not have the wireless charge so I would have a magnetic Cable to use a bamboo stand that I have bought.
I have see this cable:
https://m.banggood.com/Baseus-Magne...179304&utm_content=989&p=K41513885236201411XJ
I had see this cable from an Italian YouTuber that have test it with a special gadget.
He explains that this cable can support up to 4Ampere.
Someone can suggest me pls? If you use some cable tell me what do you use and if it s possible post the link
This is the YouTube video, it is in Italian but you can understand the functionality watching the video too.
Just one reminder, rumor has it that quick charge degrades battery life. So it would be better to buy a normal magnetic cable like this maybe and then buy a "fast" one, to use only when it's really needed. Just saying.
The one I linked you is definitely slow, using the quick charger that came with my G6 needs 1 hour to charge it from 60%.

the Quick charge is given by the transformer, that of the LG G6 should be 3.0. (although some say it is 2.0).the cable is only what transmits energy in the form of an electric current.having a cable that supports a high current causes your device to be protected moreover. A type c cable also carries a signal that tries to communicate to the transformer the quantity of voltage necessary for charging. if this does not work there is a risk that the device will explode. So first rule to have a reliable cable and that supports a high amperage.
About the quick charge instead, you have read old information about quick charge 1.0 on a device that not support it. Infact now smartphone that support quick charge have a chip that is made by qualcomm to support this technology. You can't use a quick charge charger to charge (sorry xD) a smartphone that not support it. If you do, you could damage your device.
Nowadays quick charge 3.0 is the best charging method that we have for devices that supports it. but the rule remains the same: a good cable for a good charger
PS: I'm studying electronic engineering
PS: sorry for my bad English! If you have questions ask me pls. I will try to repeat it
All these are correct,I do not use the official charger anyway, but there is still a debate however quick charge degrades battery life or not.
I recently found a USB C 18W-supported magnetic cable that is Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatible and at the same time is capable of fast data transmission. The brand is TOPK (you can check at thei website topk dot com). I own quite a few other accessories from them and I can say that they are reliable. Cables are nylon braided and plug heads are 3d aluminum so they are generally stretch and rust resistant.
The other one I saw was Lexuma XMAG.
They are the first of their class. (I am no way related to these brands, just my personal experience)
Lexuma XMAG. looks like a better quality

Yeah cause it's more expensive. Lol. I happen to have TOPK cables cause they currently have flagship stores in my location. They may be cheaper but the cables look premium. I use them oftentimes while playing ML with my Poco F1 so they are always prone to stretch sometimes greater than 90 degrees. Looks like nylon braiding does its job well.
Maybe, I will have a look at the TOPK, maybe yes the price makes it appear better.
The design thou is circular and not oblongated like type C plug. Im not sure if I liked it more but the good thing is it's not just reversible but also rotatable; in perfect fit whatever orientation...
