3g and baseband in Argentina - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hello everybody. This is my first post and my first aproach into the Android world. I just got 1 day ago my Dinc2 from USA.
I'm from Argentina and I unlocked the phone with a code. I had no problem using the phone for sms and voice calls but when it comes to data connection I can't use it on 3g mode.
I believe that the Verizon ROM has not possibilities to connect to a 3g network in Argentina, so I would like to try another ROM. The problem is that I have to root the phone but I don't know how to deal with the baseband. To be honest I don't completely understand what the baseband is and why do I need to have a special baseband for Argentina, I still must do some research. But I'm very afraid of not being capable of using my 3g data connection EVER. That would make the phone almost useless.... quite sad.
I'd really appreciate if any of you could give me some advice about it.
Thanks a lot.

Network signal issue

Hi all
I have an issue with the Desire. Thing is that I got no network signal. I have been wondering for long time if the IMEI was blacklisted, but I found out that the IMEI is ok, no barred at all. And yesterday, messing a bit with the phone radios etc... I managed to get signal! But It was while i was using my spanish sim (VODAFONE carrier). When I inserted my UK sim car (woth 02) I couldn't manage to make it work.
I am a bit noob about that radio thing and ril... but when i use those RIL with the G, my phone is like it got signal but cannot connect to the provider... (emergency calls only...) and when i use the others is like i cannot get any signal at all...
I also tried to clean inside the phone... not sure if is a hardware or a software problem...
any ideas?
thanks!!!

Sounds like a carrier issue nothing to do with the phone .
did you check the frequencies your carrier is using ?

Not sure if you actually followed the previous poster's suggestion in the end (i.e. Googled it).
Quick google search on my end found O2 uses 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 2100MHz
Vodafone España uses 900MHz and 2100MHz, not sure if 1800MHz also.
Also not sure what you mean that you can't receive calls when its in stanby. Does this mean if the phone is active, you can receive calls?
If you have rooted the phone at all, revert it to stock and see if that helps.
Otherwise it may be that your phone doesn't have the 1800MHz band compatability (maybe due to where you bought it from etc).
I would go back to your carriers for help.

I actually did not understand your question... Of course I use google... all time. I have done everything i have read. But some times people just discovered something or maybe they know something i don´t know.
Anyway, won't bother you anymore.
The reply wasn't aimed at criticising /chastising you.
I posted over 12 hours after your last post so I didn't know if you had already googled the bands in the end, in which case posting the bands again would just be repeating information you knew already.

I really appreciate your help! Sorry. This problem is annoying me a lot...
Where did you buy your HTC Desire? I think different regions have different versions of the desire.
If it helps, I had reception problems with my sim in Nepal when my WiFi was on. But I have used my Desire in Singapore, Australia with no problems.

'lost connectivity ... roaming' crap problem. HELP! !&$_&!!

"You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off"
The problem:
I live in the Netherlands and im now on vacation in south Africa.
I have a kpn (telco) provider sim in my note 2 and no longer get (3g) data connection when I landed in cape town (getting the message above).
I also have a s3 with me, with a Vodafone sim and works fine.
When I swap sims both phones are ok.
No need to say roaming is switched on and so on.
I googled hours today and all I saw was silly remarks about switching on roaming and more like that.
If anybody has a clue I'd love to hear it!
btw, I'm on the latest 4.1.2 France edition xxelkc
Thanks
Rob
I've just caught the same message. Never saw it before. I'm in my home area in Florida so I really don't understand why I got this message. Have not travelled at all in December, domestically or otherwise. My SGS II Titanium was unlocked over a week ago. I also upgraded Android from Gingerbread 2.6.3 to ICS 4.0.4 in the same time frame. Have no idea if that could be in any way related, but I didn't see this message until the time of this post, and as I said, I did the upgrades over a week ago. In my Mobile Network Settings "Data roaming" in unchecked. I have never touched this setting since I owned the phone, so unless the ICS upgrade did so, the current settings should be the default. I've got an unlimited plan but I guess I should call T-Mobile and ask what's up with maybe having to tick the "Data roaming" box even though I'm at home and what that would mean? :cyclops: Would love to hear from anyone with some advice.
I'm thinking that this is related to the modern in combination with either the SIM or the provider.
Much has been said about this problem on the web but I have not come across a clear cause.
The number of replies here says enough!
Might be completely off in the wrong direction, but dont South Africa have CDMA?
That may cause an issue for you. Most of the world is on GSM.... Have a look ^__^

Nope normal GSM with 3G and also some LTE which launched in the past 2 months.
I'm however having the same issue since flashing with the same firmware. Going to try another firmware to see what happens.
luckily I have 2 phoned with me. I will flash a new Rom when I'm back home, no flashing now...
I hope that flash results are posted here!
Happy New Year!
Back with the same problem.
3 (stock) ROM's further I find myself in the UK with the exact same issue.
Is this a Note 2 problem?
Combination of ROM (4.1.2), SIM (KPN) and hardware?
Googeling again for hours got me nowhere.
Unless someone can point me in the right direction I'm seriously thinking to use a hammer to smash this crap piece of phone and get me the new HTC one!
Help!
I'm brilliant!
Just thought about creating a new APN from scratch. Bingo!

Running T-mobile on ATT note 2

Hello everyone.
I'm sorry if i write bad English because I'm not really good at it. Sorry in advance.
I have a ATT Note 2 which i bought from a friend and i unlocked it by using the free method from the forms.
When i first unlocked it my phone went to lte signal and my data was working fine and i was getting lte speeds.
I made a phone call which usually drops the single to HSPA+ aka 4g/3g but for some reason my phone doesn't go back to lte after.
I even called t-mobile they said they see my phone was on lte but they don't know why it's not going back to lte.
If anyone here running Tmobile sim in Att note 2 and still getting lte speeds after phone call is made please provide me some instructions as because I've tried everything possible i can from the forms. I've been trying for almost more then 3 to 4 months i still haven't found any solution to this problems.
If anyone can help me out that will be great.
Thank you and sorry for my bad English.
That's odd, mine is unlocked and I use Tmobile but I dont have those problems... maybe it's the modem, could be reception... sorry to head you're having issues dude.

I'd verify the APN and make sure you have the most recent modem flashed.

First things first, what solutions have you tried? If we don't know what you've tried it won't help much. Also what method did you use to unlock it?
If you used the free unlock then you have the J2 modem - that's the earliest stock AT&T modem. Since you were able to downgrade, I'm assuming you can upgrade too. Depending on your location (whether t-mobile is using the refarmed AT&T bands or using their own) you can use the latest modem or you can search for a t-mobile modem.
But speed is what matters, not what icon is displayed. Check the phone status under the settings menu to see the actual network type you're connected to.

Canadian i747m not working any network in Europe

Hello Everyone
I have Galaxy S3 i747m from Rogers. I went to Europe for holidays. I unlocked my phone in Poland. After that phone was working ok but internet was very slow. It was working on Edge although everywhere was LTE range. I was changing carriers-sim cards but was the same problem. Then I went to UK. There my phone stopped reading any network especially when I was in the building. My current carrier is O2. My phone sometimes says not registered on network or says nothing. I have no connection at all. I dont know what to do now.
I flashed a new rom from this forum Hyperdrive which is nice but it didnt change anything. I was also installing those two files ..modem_XXDME4__ and modem+ddemg2 but my phone stopped working at all. So I had to format and flash a rom again.
Please help me guys because I want to destroy this phone with an AXE. I give up.
Not sure what the situation is in Europe, but I had a similar problem when I bought an unlocked i747M and attempted to use it on my AT&T network in the US.
Phone calls were fine, but way slow data connectivity.
US LTE does not support International/Canadian phones. Something with the modem and bands used here vs Canada.
Might be the same situation where you are. The modem may not be compatible with the European network bands.
I know DocHoliday77 helped me with mine. He made it very clear you CAN NOT change the modem version. I have the US version now and all is fine.
That's the only thing I can think of too tbh. That or something is corrupt or there's some sort of hardware issue. Sorry, I know that doesn't help much.... Hopefully someone else may have thoughts to add...

Samsung S4 3G issue

Hi guys
I’m new here and I need your help.
I have Samsung S4 International bought on amazon in US, no simlock.
I use this phone in Ireland in Europe.
Everything was ok until a few months ago when I lost 3g connection. Science then my phone is working in 2g only mode (gprs/edge speed)
Phone was running on stock rom android 4.4.2, I thought it is a software issue so I rooted phone and installed CyanogenMod. Unfortunately it did not help 
Phone still synchronise with 2g network instead of 3g even in capital city next to BTS.
I was wondering is 3g module broken and what could be a reason of that? Do you have any idea how could I fix it, what would be a cost of doing it and is it even worth it.
Except that, phone is working ok. GPS with finding a fix is a little bit slow but this is not a big issue.
Thanks in advance
FMX
Current details about phone:
GT-I9505

Kernel 3.4.0-cyanogenmod-g2ab6e0f
