Hoping someone can help me here. I bought a used g2 a few months back, everything has worked fine. I woke up one morning and it was stuck on HTC white screen. I have tried following forum after forum trying to recover, with no luck.
In HBOOT it reads
Vision PVT Ship S-OFF
HBOOT- 0.82.000
MICROP-0425
RADIO- 26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot

Ive tried to flash a new PC10IMG.ZIP and its says noimage, even though I see it on my SD card. Ive tried to push it using adb with no avail. Anything I can do?
i would start with the basic...
did you already try to enter recovery and wipe? (recovery is an option in hboot)
if it works, do a fresh install (this only works if you have a custom recovery)
what rom did you use before this problem appeared?

Yup, the simplest solution to try would be to enter recovery, and factory reset.
If you put the PC10IMG.ZIP on the SD using your PC, make sure your PC is set to show file extensions. Its not unusual for people to accidentally rename the file PC10IMG.ZIP.ZIP and not realize it (if your PC is hiding the "second" .ZIP extension), and recovery won't see the file if its named that way.
I tried recovery through HBOOT and Clockworkmod, neither will work.
I also made sure the file was saved correctly but it still says no image.
I honestly dont know what ROM I was using because I bought it already as is. I never even knewthe things you could do with phones until this happened and I started researching. (I know im lame, lol)
Any other suggestions?
In clockwork, try the option "install zip from sdcard". Any file with the .zip extension should be visible (does not need to be named PC10IMG.ZIP). See if the image you are trying to flash is visible that way.
Alternately, you can try any of the custom ROMs posted in the Development subforum by putting them on your SD card and flash using that same option "install zip from sdcard". Cyanogenmod 7, ILWT, Virtuous G-Lite, and Virtuous Sense are all popular ones that are stable and reliable.

Depends what you want from your phone. For example, some people like HTC's Sense interface, so that would lead you to check out the Sense ROMs (either a stock one or a custom ROM). Typically custom ROMs have extra stuff added or taken away, which you will find described in the thread about that ROM in the Android Dev forum. Or maybe you don't like Sense and want a different interface.
There is a lot to choose from and the choice can be somewhat bewildering at first.
I suggest keeping away from the ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0 ROMs) for now because they tend to be more in an alpha/beta state and be missing some features and also be more unstable.
Maybe you should start with a stock HTC Sense ROM and see how you get on with that ?
Edit - ah, I see you have a G2. Which as stock doesn't come with Sense, sorry if I confused you there. I am not sure if the stock G2 T-Mobile ROM is available to flash or not. G2 folks ?
Edit2 - the stock T-Mobile G2 ROM is at http://www.filefactory.com/f/b8dc837b1ed80be8/ , first item on the list.

That's a pretty challenging question, since the various custom ROMs by their nature are meant to offer different aesthetic looks and features. This is the very reason there are so many different ones, making the choice an intimidating one.
Another thing that makes the choice challenging, is that you admittedly don't know what ROM you had to start with. For lack of any information, you can always start with the stock G2 ROM that steviewevie linked to in the previous response. Its a good place to start as any. Was it what you had before it got stuck in the bootloop, who knows. But it would work fine, plenty of G2 owners run stock, and you can always change it later if you don't like it.
Yep G2 can be flashed

Looks like the previous owner was kind enough to root , downgrade and install a Desire Z hboot . So it is possible to flash both sense/non-sense roms.....
Suggestion: you might want to give out miui a try after your tryst with stock rom which i hope will be short.
EDIT: don't know if this will work but try flashing after updating your radio from this link

As far i can say about the error is that it is a bad download.. You might want to try it again using a fresh download uninterrupted by connecction issues and speed throttles

Hey all,
I've just received an HTC Desire update (Since I'm using the stock ROM with stock radio), my phone downloaded it but it cannot install due to clockwork recovery blocking it (signature failure).
I have the .zip file. How can I customize that .zip to be able to install ?
I am rooted, with clockwork 2.5 (Version before 3.0) and have stock ROM and stock radio.
Please help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this topic. Thank you!
Never apply OTA updates on a rooted phone

Yeah, I found that out on the internet whilst searching for clues.
The thing is, I rather keep the HTC ROM than move onto other ROMs made by other people. It's just my preference. I just want to know how I could modify or something to allow me to install the latest OTA update.
Thanks for the reply.
You can't, simple as that
If you want the new version you'll have to unroot using the RUU and then re-root

Okay, I must unroot then apply the update.
So, I must uninstall Clockwork recovery then unroot then update then root then install clockwork recovery. Is that right?

Version; 2.10.405.2 (Froyo)

Using this stock HTC rom => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
Download this and flash it:

If it doesn't work, try:

Then re-root if you want but bare in mind you still won't be able to get OTA updates
if he waqnts to keep root and use stock rom why doesnt he just flash teppics stock rom?
its 2.29.405.5 base, exactly the same
he has clockweork, he can just flash it over the top
True, but they don't say they want a custom ROM
Thanks so much but (you're gonna laugh) I decided to google your ROM, eMIUI and I'm in love.
I looked at the xda topic and well it was overwhelming for my simpleton mind. I really want to install that ROM, is it safe to flash it or must I have EXT2? Cause I see some ROMs require EXT2 while others don't. I don't have EXT2 nor do I know what it is.
Sorry about my "foolishness" but I'm really interested to have the same setup as you Eddy. Tell me all about it.
Oh and since your from Merseyside, can you maybe pop by Anfield and give those excuse of football players a whack on the head for me please?
Could've just clicked the link in my signature and you'd get the page on here
As for hitting Liverpool, I would but I'm a Gooner (from London originally) so kinda funny to see them faulter - if a little sad
Regarding my setup, I have a 1Gb EXT3 partition set purely so that I don't have to worry about space in future. When I rooted with unrEVOked I flashed AmonRA as opposed to CWM as at the time you couldn't partition SD cards in CWM (think you can now). I'm using a 16Gb Class 2 SD card and it works fine.
I tried a few other ROMs before finally giving eMIUI a go and I love it and with a bit of my own work on it (purely cosmetic, nothing under the hood) it does what I want it to and I normally go to bed with 40-50% battery left whereas on stock I'd be neally out on the same usage.
he said no custom rom but tepics is just stock with root and busybox which is what he would be now anyway
anyhow hes looking into miui
Miui is nice, emiui seems to be the most stable but an EXT is needed
How do I get an EXT?
Thanks so much guys!
I'm rooted, with clockwork 2.5 and I have S-ON.
Just run the correct RUU. You have to re-root like but still. Saves farting around
I have sd-ext is that the EXT2?
I don't know, not used CWM in a long time. What version are you using. It normally says at the bottom of CWM when in recovery
I partitioned an EXT2 512MB with 128MB buffer. I'm using 1.01.07, the same link as the one in Eddy's signature. I am wondering..... how do you flash a kernal? Can I do it even with my eMIUI installed or I must wipe?
Thanks!

I don't think flashing dk's rom bricked your phone at all mate, especially if you was able to just run an ruu to fix it, maybe you forgot to wipe something or it just didn't install correctly but I've used dk's Rom and there is nothing out of place!

Possible a dodgy download of ROM or install then, no errors came up. But when i powered on after flashing (and I did wipe the caches), i got no HTC spash screen, and couldnt boot into recovery but there was a lit black screen on, the phone was recognised by the RUU facility and thats how I fixed the issue.
I seem to be having a problem flashing the stock + rooted rom.
I get the error message..
e:cant open sdcard/dhd_wwe_3.12.405.1............zip (bad) installation aborted.
I have also tried a stock unrooted copy which didnt work either. I am pretty sure i use to be able to flash it(many months ago).
I believe i can still flash sum custom roms (just formated the newest leedroid rom) but stock is being a ***** to install.
I want to go back to stock as I feel my gps was more accurate under stock
Any ideas?
Im using a unbranded UK desire HD with AHK Clockwork Recovery v4.0.1.4. i did wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and even wipe Dalvik

You don't have to flash stock rom from recovery like custom roms or nandroid backups.
Run stock RUU.exe or flash the rom from bootloader if in PG58IMG format if you want to go back to complete stock rom.

Hey mate, maybe u can help me out a little. I need to flash back to stock, vodafone au branded for warrenty purposes. if I used above would I still be rooted and s-off, and can all the Vodafone bloat be flashed afterwards. just weighing if the above link is any easy option then flashing rom, then radio, reverse s off, root, etc etc etc.....etc.?
The link I gave is for stock unbranded WWE (world wide english) RUU. No idea where you can find Vodafone AU, sorry.
Running the RUU.exe will unroot your device but s-off remains. Also it deletes all apps and data.
Conclusion: it will be as out of the box but S-Off.

Hi, are u asking me? If so here u go.
1- S-OFF. Don't think I'm eng s-off.
2- boot loader reads as follows:
Ace PVT Ship S-off RL
Hboot 0.85.0024
Microphone 0438
Radio 26.10.04.03_m
eMMC-boot
3- advance ace hack kit is how I rooted my device...?
4- clockwork mod recovery touch 5.8
5- Vodafone branded phone originally, with all the crap
6-original ruu unknown? But the rom I can't install is titled:
Ace_Vodafone_AU_1.32.178.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M_BACKUP
Its a zip file which I've tried to install from recovery as a zip(error message 'install aborted')and also restore after extracting to cwm/backup (error message md5 mismatch)
I'm completely lost.
Install 4ext recovery, if I'm not mistaken it has an option to ignore md5 mismatches.

Alright, well I installed 4ext, disabled md5 check. All that happened when it restored (finished in only 3secs)was rebooted with a freshly wiped copy of the rom I've been using-cookies & cream ics.
It seems like the file is empty, though I've explored its content and all seems intact. Its about the 5th download of the rom too, so unlikely a bad dl. Someone installed it successfully by deleting nandroid. md5, then using the md5 sum recreate it as md5sum*img > nandroid.md5... Don't know how or what this means
I believe they are talking about this. In the app go to recovery >manage backups. Choose the file then click correct md5 sum

I thought about that. You won't be able to fully be on your stock firmware but it might be close enough for warranty purposes.
So here is my thinking. Flash the 1.32.405 ruu. Next flash your stock radio that came with your carrier via a pd98. Then root with visionary and use jkoljos easy radio tool to flash back your cid and get back son. Finally unroot with visionary and remove any traces of root like super user. Hi there,
I've managed to unlock the bootloader and root my HTC Wildfire S.
Then I flashed CWM Recovery (tried several versions) with fastboot and also with ROM Manager.
The installation of CWM Recovery is successfull, however when I go into the bootmenu and select Recovery, the screen stays black and the icons at the buttom of the phone are lit up.
So the problem is I can't get into Recovery to make a backup and to flash a different ROM.
Some information about my phone:
HTC Wildfire S A510e
Android 2.3.5
ROM version: 2.13.401.3
From the bootmenu:
*** UNLOCKED ***
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT: 1.09.0099
MICROP-0451
RADIO: 7.54.39.28M
I know others have this same issue, but I haven't read any solution yet. I hope someone knows the solution or a workaround to make a backup of the stock ROM and flash a custom ROM.
Thanx in advance!
I have same problem looking for solution to backup nand just in case.
Try reflashing recovery or install one like alquez's unofficial.

Just want to say that I have exatly the same problem mentioned above. Same ROM, riadio and hboot as well. I tried lot of methods to flush custom recovery but nothing helped. Also tried both 5.0.2.6 and 5.0.2.8 CWM
Same problem: Downgrade HBOOT?
Hey,
Have the same problem aswell.. I tried alot see topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635718
The one thing i didn't try is to downgrade my hboot. I didn't want to do this because it will aswell downgrade android from 2.3.5 to 2.3.3...
And this is exactly the thing which i wanted to avoid before being able to backup stock rom....
Maby you could try it. There is also away to download stock rom and instal it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467844
The thing there is only that i don't know if its posible to install a rom without being able to get into the recovery.

There are ideas why this is happening?
The standard recovery is working well, then the whole thing in "recovery.img".
But what's wrong with it???
If you ROM rooted and opening rom, rom manager and press "Flash. Clockwordmod Recovery "

Someone told me to downgrade hboot, which i didn't try yet because i first wanted to make a backup of my stockrom.
Doesn't sound very likely but if your almost desperate...

Hi all!
I mean not to complain about something that does not work "Recovery", ask why this is happening and can it be such as to decide whether to help solve this problem if create one "S-OFF"...
Who ever tried to put the old "CWM Recovery", for example 3.0.x.xx?
Put an old version of "CWM Recovery", please ...
I could not find ...
Hi,
I tryed to Update my phone with original rom trought the phone. First try and it tells me trath there is a error (Status 7). Then i found a way how to skip this error (with deleting of the assets from script file) and install it. And after that my fight with the phone starts. After the install the OS start reboot continuesly. Somehow i flash the boot.img and start Philz Touch 5 Recovery system. After that flash the ROM with Cyanogen. First i got the same Error (Status 7) and once again fix it. Then install it and the phone starts. But after 30 seconds is freeze and can't do anything, only restart. The HBOOT version is 0.95. I thin that maybe this error (Status 7) comes with any reason, and maybe this becomes from wrong ROM.
Please if someone could help! The phone is not mine and i didn't fix it should pay it . If you need any other info just send me a message.
Thank you in advance!
ufff...first...this thread will be moved...and i hope very fast...this is dev thread not q+a !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
next....i dont know....you did so much massive wrong....please buy a i thing...really...and never flash a custom rom...or do a research or asking before..if you dont understand what you are doing....i also was a beginner in the past....but i can good read and follow and ask...not just flash...äähhm..what iḿ doing...it do not start anymore
you should really read before do flashing
--------------------------------
from what i read you have a custom recovery...did you maked a nandroid backup before you did anything...if yes...restore it and flash the boot.img of it..reboot and you are done...if not search a rom what works on hboot 0.95...means no jb
flash it..and its boot.img
before you can flash a original rom...means ruu...you should research..there are some guides here
i dont think cyanogen can be installed on hboot 0.95......
I think you should've updated the HBOOT on forehand. The Status 7 error is a check, not a fault.
You can download a RUU from one of the stickies in the Android Development forums and revert to stock, then update (incl HBOOT) and then try again.

but because of the Android version, sometimes CM/AOSP/AOKP/AOSPA can't be installed as like sense one hboot versions which are lower that should be...better is always to update...especially if you are on hboot 0.95...thats for ALL really to low ...
