I've had it a few times now, some on gb, others on ics. What is it and why does it occur? I'm on fc18 now and while at work, my phone started getting hot so I pulled it out and it was stuck on kernel panic mode. Kinda scary, it's not doing harm to my device, is it?

Sorry, never seen that before. But if you are overheating, it's likely you are killing the battery, not the actual chips in the phone. The battery would be ruined quickly at high temperatures though. I don't really know the chemistry of it, but that's what I've heard.
It used to happen to me to a lot every 3 hours or so I had to take out the battery. I just switched to an ics rom and fc18 modem and problem solved no more overheating.

That's what I'm running right now. I'll look around in the phone files and see if ican extract the kernel panic screen so it'll show everyone what it is. I'd understand the issue if I was underclocking or overclocking. But everything's stock.

what task is the phone running? I remember I had something running at 87% and it would make my phone hot also and it would turn off

I actually asked shabby about it when the first builds of ics were out. He believed it was happening because they didn't have the actual kernel source.and that's what was sending the phone into panic mode.

It's fairly rare but it's occured on me about a total 5 times, more frequent on ics roms. I don't use many root apps other than SETCPU and my backup root, that and rom toolbox.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Are you on ics? Cause as far as I understand you can't overclock if so. But yeah I don't believe it has anything to do with the root apps.

In the v6 supercharger script, it says something about kernel panic = 0 when you choose the memory management and hard to kill launcher settings. Maybe ask zepellinrox?

SamMobile refers it like a logcat that developers copy from the phone to a computer..??? maybe that'll help.

I just recently started using CM7 on my E4T. I have a problem where, when I am charging my phone when it's shut off it boots right back up. I believe this has to do with the kernel. Are there any kernels available for AOSP?

Sorry to say, but there aren't yet any AOSP kernels outside of what's provided with CM7. Most kernel devs are catering to those [aesthetically frightening] TouchWiz ModROMs.
That's scary that only a few ppl are working on aosp. Especially I don't see ics being worked on much

Really? Didn't kno this.
would it be possible to port an aosp kernel for the I777 to the E4GT seeing as they are very similar? I kno that the International version's kernel was ported to the I777 for ICS, but the big problem was the button routing.

In terminal emulator to get it running. To make it automatic I used system tuner to force all CPUs online found in boot tweaks set to on boot completion. All of a sudden it was a new phone LoL .

Most have issues with wakelocks when they try to use their phone the way they want on any ICS ROM. Enjoy everything working and no greens in the super battery sipping The People's ROM. 4 Hours display time with 30% battery left on stock battery....hell yeah! One user reported 50 hours with over 30% left. If your phone prefers Samurai kernels you can always switch from Shadowkernel.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
Try raising your minimum frequency to 200mhz and see if that helps. Back in the day 100mhz was causing wake issues so I wonder if that is still an issue for some CPUs. Battery life loss will be negligible.

If you are coming from a tw ics rom it most likely will fail. I flashed it from stock ics and it failed 4 times i then flashed a cm9 and the directly flashed this and it booted fine. I heard the dev say this as well
Also when u are installing in the beginning in aroma installer u can choose custom install and u can pick radios.
