[Q] Image in play shop not loading - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I tried to update play store to the latest version by clearing the data and cache.
Unfortunately it didn't work and I still have version 3.4.7
however I have know noticed that one image at the bottom when launching the play shop does not load. It always shows a black tile with an android
attached a screenshot to show you.
How can I fix this, any idea why it is happening?
Edit: I tried clearing cache and data ro reload play shop and no change.
tried a restart and it doesn't fix it.

there is no fix, because there is no problem
the number of app in the bottom is just variable

[Q] Locations Problem (no maps)

Hi,
I've had a problem with the Locations app since receiving the Desire HD. Basically no map details appear, just a yellow background with my location pin pointed, the apps controls in the top left and right corners. If I zoom out all the major towns/cities are displayed (UK) but zooming in, moving around etc produces nothing .. no map details at all, just the same yellow background.
I've tried re-installing the app, deleting and downloading the UK map, clearing the data/cache without luck. Google Maps works fine but it would be nice to have the offline Locations working too. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
Cheers
You need to download the maps on your sd card from the application. when you open the map press menu then upgrade from there you should be able to choose your country then download the map.
Thanks for the reply but I already had tried that with no luck. I had no problems downloading the map and it's there on the SD card OK but Locations still fails to 'load' any details/map data.

Anyone else seem to be suffering from this or got any suggestions?
Hi,
The map is saved under \SD card\.data\navigator\data\maps
and name as xxx.cmap
If there is no map saved in SD card, it will use online map mode(like Google map)
Go Locations>Menu>Upgrade>Map to download map again

THANKS DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone please help me????
Whilst trying to solve what was the original problem in this thread i have managed to delete my UK maps file (yes, i know).
I have tried to re-install the locations software but it did not solve my problem.
When i try to activate the app it either:-
1) Gives me a message saying "storage card space required - to use this application, you must have at least 15mb storage card space. Please reserve 15mb space and try again later".
or
2) Loads up with a white screen and the message "No Locations".
I have no idea what the first one means or how to do this!!!
When the second thing happens i cannot download any more maps as i have a white screen, the licences does not sync either.
Please help somebody!!!
Right, After emailing HTC, i performed a hard reset - no joy. I then formatted the SD card with better results. I have now installed the Locations software but at the moment i am struggling to download the maps - i have the option to but the download seems to take ages and then mysteriously stops most of the way through. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.
Hi, is anyone able to download maps for Japan? Thanks.
That's great! It solved the same problem of mine.
My problem
I have a similar but more extreme problem. Some background: I purchased a DHD in south africa and travelled back to the uk to visit for a week. Locations app was working in SA and in zurich (my connection point). Upon arrival in the uk I connected to my parents wifi and updated some apps, one of which was google maps. From then on HTC locations has not worked, ie neither stored maps (south africa or uk) or maps accessed via data connection will not display, just a black screen with road and compass icons. It runs really slow and often present with a force close message or the not enough space 15mb message, after which all license info disappears ie going to upgrade results in blank menus for a while. I have tried reinstalling maps and locations app with same result. HTC suggest a hard reset ("turning it on and off again"). It is running froyo and awaiting gingerbread update, probably due to it being a SA imei. I am reluctant to lose a lot of data for unsure results and would like to hear of possible reasons for this fault before I do so. Does anyone have ideas what is going on and how to cure this problem?
I can live without locations but i do like footprinting places I have been so it is not the end of the world but it would be nice.

[Q] I relocked and RUU'd - now search is faulty and Google Now disappeared

Hi all, I've been playing around with custom ROMs on my One X for about a year and a half but was recently getting tired of putting up with stability issues and decided I wanted to return the phone to stock.
I relocked the phone with ADB, then ran the appropriate RUU for my CID.
The procedure worked fine and I managed to download the latest HTC stock update without any drama, except for one annoying issue.
The search function stalls every time I use the toolbar - the whole screen goes blank white except for the little 'working' logo, occasionally it connects to Google and responds to my search terms. Also I cannot find any trace of Google Now in the software, it has vanished from the phone. No cards appear on the search page and there is no reference to it in any settings menus.
What do you think the root cause could be? What are my options for fixing it?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but whatever it's called it isn't working properly.
I'm getting error messages saying "server access failure" and there are zero cards or location-based info being presented. I cannot find any reference to cards within the settings either. Would a factory reset work? Or is there someway of resetting or re-installing the search apk?

I don't use it actually but I've just tried it for you and seems to be working fine, loading up up relevant weather and location information.
Yes you could try a factory reset or try uninstalling it from the play store, but don't forget you are looking for google search, and not google now.

Thanks man, clearing the data out of the Google Search app seemed to reset it. Everything working fine now..

Google Play Store Not Connecting

Has anyone else had any issues with the Play Store on their Fire TV? I updated the Play Store on mine to a newer version, mainly because every time I tried to download something I'd get stuck with that annoying spinning circle. Now when I go into, I get a message saying it can't connect to the Internet, even though the other apps on my Fire can. I'm even typing this on my Fire through Firefox, after being told by the Play Store there's no connection. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to download the game Implosion: Never Lose Hope, and I know I can get it through Aptoid, but the thing stops a little more than half way through giving me an error, forcing me to start it over again from the beginning. Thanks in advance.
Bump, bumpity, bump. Am I the only one who's experienced this? For a while, the Play Store was already acting funky, taking forever to start a download, if it did. At least then it connected, but now I get nothing. I'm not a noob to Android, but little things like this confuse me a bit, especially when comparing the settings on my Fire, S4, and Tab 3 8.0. They all look similar. Oh, well, maybe I missed some small thing that's hiding from me.

Google play store has stopped working on the Fire phone as well.
I can open it but all there is is a white screen with a search bar. And the search bar doesn't pull up results. Is this happening to more users?
I wish I knew how to fix it. As long as I have it installed, even though I can't do anything with it, I can still play the games that require Google Play Store to be installed. The load issues with the Play Store were so annoying, I have been using Aptoid to download games. The downside to using Aptoid, though, is that when you look up something like Implosion: Never Lose Hope, only two pop up; the big one with a 1.1gig download and the smaller one that prompts for a data pack download. The big one stops a little more than half way through and I have to start all over again, and the smaller one never takes me to the download. The game I'm talking about is free, by the way, on the Play Store. It says only the first 6 levels are free and you have to pay to play the rest of the game, but it looks so cool. Anyway, had to get that out. Laters.
same here, first it was just the spinning circle on a white screen
I tried clearing the cache and data for all google relayed apps, rebooted
No dice, now it somehow still knows my Google account, but says it can't connect..

I started playing around with another app market I read about in a different thread on this forum called 1 Mobile Market. It looks kind of similar to the Play Store and references it on some of the apps. I haven't downloaded much with it yet except the game Implosion: Never Lose Hope, but it only downloaded a 20 MB apk, kind of like installing Dead Trigger and then the data pack, except the data pack never comes, so the market may be a little hit-or-miss.

Actually, I tried the same. I noticed that both google play service and google play store were updated automatically to some later version, so I uninstalled them and reinstall the old version (4.x), then I can launch google play store. However, only one. The second time, I launch play store, the same white screen showed up. And I can see bot play service and play store were (once again) updated to later version automatically.
I also have problem with youbue app now. It simply does not play video (sound is ok), not sure if it is related or not.
not in my case but i m looking for full version as only two stages can be played in demo version downloaded from store so if anyone can give me correct link or any kind of source of either full version or crack then it would be appreciated and helpful

Apps Not Automatically Updating

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the Pixel 2 XL or an Android OS bug but it's happening on my Pixel 2 XL so I'm adding here.
I have the Google Play Store app set to automatically update apps when connected to WiFi but apps are not updating. I've been connected to my home wifi for several hours and there are still apps waiting to update.
Anyone else having this issue?

Yes! Bump! I've actually been having this problem as far back as February (at least that's around when I noticed) and had been meaning to make a thread, but hadn't gotten to it 'til now; and XDA showed this thread when I was creating so, I'll be pleading here...
I, too, FOR THE LIFE of me can't correct this...!
My setup: running Oreo 8.1 May update, rooted, Flash kernel, TWRP 3.2.1-2 custom recovery, a few Magisk modules (see sig).
Troubleshooting: rebooted, plugged phone in, allowed all permissions and ability to modify system settings, I've changed it to auto-update apps "at any time" (both mobile data & wi-fi), when updating to May patch I wiped the System partition and flashed the May Full Factory image, cleared Play Store app cache, cleared Play Store app data, uninstalled Play Store updates, Disabled Play Store - then Enabled, uninstalled Google Play Services updates / reset to factory version, and finally manually updated Google Play Services.
Anyone, any thoughts/ideas/advice?! I had hoped the last 3 months' security patch updates might fix this, but since it hasn't, my last hope is here...! :begging:
P.S. I am hoping that flashing a full factory image with the -w intact/included is not the last and only option...

I've said it before that, for me at least, I've noticed it only auto updates when plugged in even if I have plenty of battery like greater than 50%. I'm set to auto update on WiFi only. I'll go into the app store and see I have a handful of update, plug in, and see them to start downloading.

I eventually noticed as well that it only updates when plugged in. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with how charged the battery is but I haven't looked too closely at that.
....yea...I've also plugged in as well, i'll edit to reflect that...
...BUT I think I'm onto something...does anyone/everyone that has this problem have Titanium Backup installed and running btw???
Same, only auto updates when plugged in...
I always have Titanium which is running normally... Awesome app!
Yea...I get that apps are really only automatically updating when plugged in. But assuming even that isn't allowing apps to automatically update....
i'm more wondering if @upperbladez and @smokeythebear3 have Titanium Backup installed; as that's what was stopping the updating the apps automatically....

Yeah...I had really high hopes earlier as well, but found that it wasn't TB. Because there is a setting in the preferences that deals with auto-updating and it seems that, by default, it sets it to Disabled, but even after Enabling it, it hasn't gotten auto-update to work.
I had inadvertently thought it worked because, at the same time as the TB discovery, I reset to factory settings both Google Play Store and Google Play Services (as I have many times before). This seems to have the auto-update work once, but I can't get it to replicate or do it again after this first initial time. Also, it's hard to debug, troubleshoot, and test because I have to wait some time for a number of apps to need updating before I can see if it truly works or not.
I hope someone has an idea or thought that might explain why or help reach an explanation...

Yeah it's so agitating?
I think I figured it out....[GUIDE] included!
I think I figured it out (at least in my case) -- but I think it's probably applicable to most any other(s) who are having the same issue...
First of all, if you have Titanium Backup, make sure to set Default auto-update app to Enabled
Go to Menu
Preferences
Go to Restoration Settings
You will find Default auto-update mode in the section; 4th on the list within that section
Go to Google Play Store App Info
Clear Cache (inside Storage)
Clear Data (also inside Storage)
Disable the app
Click OK when warned that it will "replace this app with the factory version..."
Go to Settings, Apps & Notifications, See all ### apps
At the top right, select the 3 verticle dots and select "Show system"
Find and select Google Play Services
Clear Cache
Go back to App Info (back arrow; arrow pointing left), at the top right, select the 3 vertical dots and select "Uninstall updates"
Click OK when warned that it will "replace with the factory version..."
Reboot
Download the latest Google Play Services
HERE'S one place you can find it and/or you can Google search to find other copies yourself...
Pick the newest latest version (beta if you wish to be on bleeding edge but stability not ensured)
Choose the Android 8.0+ variant
Download the "arm64 + arm" & "nodpi" one
Install the latest Google Play Services using the file you downloaded
Reboot
Go back to Google Play Services App Info (show all ### apps, show system, etc.)
Clear Cache (of Google Play Services)
Go back to "show all ### apps"
Select the drop-down menu and select Disabled
Select Google Play Store
Clear Cache and Data (of Google Play Store inside Storage)
Plug Phone to charger
Launch Google Play Store
Select the 3 stacked horizontal lines on the top left and go to Settings
Select and configure how you wish to auto-update apps
Click on Play Store version (all the way on the bottom)
After pressing OK (it'll most likely say Play Store will update soon), it may or may not begin downloading components for the Play Store. After a bit, it may or may not actually begin auto-updating...
In the few instances I've done this and on the 2 pixel 2's I have access to, the auto-updating may begin soon after (within 2 minutes), or eventually (sorry for vague description, but I had thought these steps didn't work and wasn't paying attention and after a while, I saw it auto-updating!).
Also, it still seems that it'll auto-update only while plugged in charging. That particular bug/requirement hasn't been resolved, but as this is specifically an auto-update troubleshooting thread.......
Hope this helps any/all who is having the same issue. I hope (but am doubtful) that this will work for everyone; but if it doesn't, I'd have to say that it might be something with your ROM (stock or custom), settings (system or another app interfering [As I found out TB actually might/does]), or some very unique bug because this is probably the most comprehensive app reset for Google Play. It's kind of overkill, but you might have some luck going the "last resort" route and flashing the Full Factory image in hopes it'll fix the system and app comparability issues (if that is indeed the reason...).
In the end, I hope this helps any who might be having this issue....:victory::highfive:
I have this same issue. I tried wiping Google Play cache/data and had a hell of a time getting it to show my installed apps after that. I don't have TB installed so I'm not really sure what's going on. It's a PITA having to manually update apps all the time.

Yeah....but maybe uninstalling Google Play store (not just cache and data and actually reverting to an older version) and doing the same (sorta) towards Google Play Services is the critical difference (as shown in my guide)... Hopefully that sorts ya out...!:good:
Good luck to ya!
I'm set to auto update over WiFi, and I've never actually paid attention.. but my apps are always updated and I get the notification stating that 13 apps were updated... So it must be working on my end?

Yes, that's "the dream" . For us/me, that wasn't happening -- for whatever reason; whether it was set to do it over WiFi or both mobile & WiFi.
I used to not pay attention either, until I went and checked and kept finding a list of 50+ apps needing to update and/or all these apps were outdated every 3 or so days! Then I realized I hadn't been getting that which you are experiencing... And, as @corywf as stated, it can get quite tedious and annoying having to manually "Update all" every few days just to keep all the apps up-to-date! (Curious note: I never realized how many times in a small number of days certain apps actually update; it's like every 2 days! Which is nice and good to say towards the app as the devs are continuously working on it -- Instagram, Nextdoor, and Chrome come to mind -- but certainly rather annoying when manually "keeping up") Especially when we've all experienced these things happening automatically and in the background...
I had this issue since the Feb or March update I think but since flashing the May update, apps are back to updating automatically

That's good! I believe it was around the same time I noticed the issue as well (although as said in my last post, this is usually something that is in the background and done automatically so I can only say it was around this point). I'm glad flashing the latest update worked -- I'm wondering, did you flash a Full Factory or an OTA? -- and hopefully it works for others. But, unfortunately, I had Full Factory flashed to the May update with no such luck. It took my guide (a little up above) to fix it on me and my gf's Pixel 2 (non-XL)...
Cheers! :highfive::victory::good:

Cannot download or update apps on unlocked S20+ on T-Mobile

I cannot update or download apps in play store on my unlocked S20+ when connected to only data (I have TMobile) regardless of signal strength or 5G or LTE. Works fine on wifi but if I shut wifi off it just hangs on "pending" anytime I try to download any app at all. I've tried clearing cache, data, uninstall play store updates, cleared network settings, got a new sim card from T-Mobile and tonight I even factory reset my phone and it STILL doesn't work!!
I'm totally stumped. I've been with T-Mobile for just over a month now and this issue has been non-stop the past 2-3 weeks. Before TMobile I was on Verizon with this phone and never once had this issue!
Any ideas?

Try switching SIM slots as a test
Check Access Point Names configuration.
Replace sim card; handle it like a ram stick!!!
Out of circuit they are susceptible to ESD damage. "Techs" normally handle them quit carelessly. Failure can be instant or could take weeks, months, years to manifest itself.

Thanks I have already done literally all of this and it doesn't make any differences.

You're missing something.
Maybe corrupted or wrong firmware or software.
Anything been disabled or debloated?

Yeah I thought so too but I don't know what. I did a full factory reset last night and it is STILL not working.

Try using a wifi connection.
Google apps are a mess...
Just a thought, I know carriers have parental control type security on data networks, you have to opt out to access 'adult' content, wondering if that could be blocking it, if your carrier has an app you may be able to use that, I could with mine in the UK on EE, otherwise you need to purposely visit an adult site and follow the links on the block page / call carrier
I'd probably call T-Mobile anyway, sounds like they are the issue considering you already factory reset the phone
This is wild, but today it started working fine on its own out of NOWHERE. I am clueless. I changed nothing. And I am fully expecting it to randomly stop working again at some point.
