I'm looking for a way to bypass the security pin requirement for my Exchange email on my Evo. I was able to find Team Nocturnals zip for 4.67. It works great but I also like to run Tommy's Classic and I need a way to get around this. Any help will be appreciated.
Try Enhanced Email, works like a charm.

It seems like every ROM out there with Sense still has the HTC Mail app, which I absolutely hate (among other reasons (it is ugly and a pain to use), it can't handle multiple Exchange accounts).
There used to be a flashable .zip out there from Calkulin of the AOSP e-mail client, but if I recall correctly it quit working at some point along the way and started causing FCs.
Simply copying the AOSP client from non-Sense ROMs doesn't seem to work either.
I would make an installable/flashable version if I could, but at this point that's a little above my head...I'm not much of a java/dalvik person, so I am *really* confused by the android source tree and why I can't just type make in the email app directory and get it done.
Bit of a digression, but yeah, does anyone have the AOSP email client in an installable form that works on current FroYo ROMs?
P.S. Bonus if someone can remove the stupid 30 day max limit on Exchange mail in the AOSP client...I don't understand why they put that in there...
Is this what you're looking for?

Not exactly, I'm not having problems with the security policy (while the HTC client does enforce them, the AOSP e-mail client doesn't enforce the lockscreen one, which is all I would care about anyway).
The time limit for old messages is just the client, since the HTC one can display all old Exchange mail.
However, kudos as I did find an installable version of the AOSP mail client in a thread linked from that one (I've been looking for days!).
Link is here for those interested:

Cool. I think it's actually basically the same .apk, but from different developers. The one you used should disable the securty policy as well, but both are the AOSP email app, just with that modification.
So Xeno, did this work for you...I am in a very similar situation and would like to switch to the AOSP email.
Any issues?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the delay, yes this worked for me, but this was obviously waaay back. I think I've been running all AOSP ROMs since the Gingerbread ones became stable, so obviously the AOSP client works there, though it does enforce that damned policy. However, I ran the AOSP client I linked above with every 2.2 Sense ROM I had with no issues with either of the Exchange servers I use.
You just got me to thinking about security and the 2.3 AOSP client...not sure I know enough about where the hooks are to produce a similar client for Gingerbread, but I may look at that this week, because I'm tired of having to use the pass code, plus it often 'breaks' when I flash new kernels/etc, not letting me past the code input screen even when I use the correct code.
I got an issue with the Miui and my work exchange server:
THey have Exchange 2010 with force of device administrator policy, the issui is when i try to connect to the exchange i get an error that the device dont support the security policies... is anyone having the same issue and does anyone know how to fix this.... thanks in advance.
You might have to get an exchange email app like I did; miui nor cm7 support them properly. Exchange only works as I need it to on sense roms. Maybe there's a fix but I just purchased an app to eliminate all issues since I flash multiple roms. Try deleting the exchange account and going through set up again, this time if it completes check the notification bar to see if its asking you for permission. There's usually a button you have to accept for permission.
If you rather get an app look into touchdown, enhanced email, or moxier email.
I was thinking some can mod the email app so exchange will think its getting the permission.... tricking the exchange..... but i dont know if that is possible.
pretty sure there is another mail app you have to d/l... i dont think miui comes with the htc mail and you need to get that. at least that is what I had to do when I used miui back in the day. This question may be better answered in the miui thread though.

No not possible to my knowledge. You'll probably need to switch to a sense rom if you want "real" exchange support. As I stated earlier, using aosp/miui I could never get the features I wanted with exchange so I either run sense or use my app. Sense has more of the corporate features for exchange while aosp based roms don't seem to care about exchange support much IMO.
can someone help us ... make a custom emai.apk to work with exchange 2010 and there policies, or skipping them would even be better.

Not to bring your hopes down but this has been an issue for years with aosp (miui) man. Its always lacked corp email features. I don't think anyone is going to create an email app when you could simply run sense or spend 10-20 bucks on one from the market. (Which is much cheaper than paying someone to create an app)
Hi all,
I wanted to flash my phone with one of those two roms...but when I did so I realised that the AOSP email app would not be compatible with the security measures of my corporate email server.
Is it possible to have the HTC Sense email, but using one of those two amazing roms instead of an HTC ROM?
If possible, any step by step help would be well appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time guys.
You cant use HTC email, no.
What makes you think android client is no compliant?
Hi mate thanks for response. I get a message that my server requires security features that my phone doesn't support when I use the email app of miui or cyanogenmod. When I use HTC sense ROM with HTC email app the phone does support those security features..
I can use HTC mail with no probs with HTC ROM....cant use miui or cm mail app though....
Does it say what security features? Mine works with exchange+mobile iron and also BPOS.
Unfortunately that's all it says. It's basically a feature that asks you to insert another unlock password to your phone for safety, and if you insert the password wrong for like 10 times it remotely deletes the data on the device, or something like that.
I saw that other people would get the same error with these roms, but couldn't find a solution to the problem That's why I thought maybe by installing the HTC email app...though it will probably not work because of the different rom framework? Any ideas?
Like i said, you cannot use the HTC email app. If I knew more about your email system/server, maybe I could help... The basic android client, if added as exchange/BPOS and device admi has ability to wipe device, so not sure what system you are coming from as it should work.
Could try K9 mail on market? Or touchdown (pay)
Thanks again. Already tried and they dont work..only original sense mail
Then there is something dodgy about your email system. Speak to your Exchange administrator.
Several people have the same problem....but thanks anyway
So what? Several people also do not. I am an exchange administrator and I do not have any problem using the android email client. Like I said, speak to your exchange administrator to get it resolved. Thanks anyway
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Unfort I dont have that option
Ill have to stick with the 2.3 sense ROM. The admin said to just use the ROM my phone ships with.
I believe it is some feature missing from the cm and miui anyway. Not a server issue.
If anyone has a solution to the problem please let me know.
Thanks again for your time.
Just found this:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20856-exchange-security-policies/
This is exactly the same problem. It's CM7/MIUI not supporting
I've used probably a dozen different ROMs at my current job w/out any problems from exchange. Up until last week, they only required SSL and to allow them to wipe the phone remotely. Last week the exchange admins enabled another security feature where we have to have a PIN set. CM7, MUIU, Synergy, etc. don't work. Only the OTA ROMs work! :crying: The email client is all I can tie it to since the other ROMs seem to use a different client where the domain is entered on a separate line than the userid.
I am pretty upset that I lost the speed and features of the other ROMs so I would appreciate it if someone could tell me a workaround of tell me of another ROM that uses the same mail client as the OTA ROMs.
Touchdown supports all mail policies and should work for you. This includes the PIN and remote wipe policies.

Touchdown isn't free. There should be a native workaround for this. I have had no problems with CM based roms until MIUI.
This works great.

Can you provide more info?
I cannot get it to work.
I cannot figure out how to get it to work? Can you explain the steps.
Greetings all!
Just purchased the tab pro 10.1. It's incredible. My only gripe, which is not a huge issue but enough to drive me crazy that I haven't yet discovered an easy "fix" for it, is that the stock email app--which I really like given that it mirrors the email app on my SG5--is at version 4.1. On my SG5, the email version is 4.4.2.0400. I'm puzzled as to why the tab pro, after all updates are done, hasn't updated to this newest version. Primarily, I want to be able to a) use the stock email app; b) swipe away emails rather than check a box to delete them.
My device is not rooted nor do I plan on rooting. I've done some digging around online but haven't found an easy way to remedy this. I assume I could just install the SG5 stock email app? But I haven't found the apk online, without the need to edit a bunch of other stuff that is beyond my expertise.
Would there be an easy fix for this? Perhaps just an apk of the SG5 email app I can install over top of this (no flashing, etc)?
Many thanks in advance!
