For those who lost the status bar
do a data wipe i got mine that way
:d

OP have you managed to create a fully working signed 14toggles bar? All my efforts have failed so far. Logcat tells me the phone rejects the signature of my modified systemui.apk. Any ideas on that?

I'm afraid, the OP knows nothing about modding ROMs, he knows only the copy, paste work. One given MOD applicable only for a given ROM build, at least he should specify, which build (eg DXKJ1, DDLA1, XXKK6 etc...)
Fully working lidroid's 14 toggle bar will work only, when you resign all the system/app and system/framework APKs. In case you skip modify androidmanifest.xml, then resign not necessary, but flashlight will FC.
I know it by my own experience, I did this already in January for EmearlD ROM, which has fully working 14 toggle

exactly, thats how i got my status bar mods to work,
you need to decompile-compile-resign the lidroid-res.apk
without doing those steps your status bar will result to a force close

sometimes this work but its lot of time you lost your status bar ....so please recovery or backup and try this
or use costum rom its better ......

I have to correct myself. Not all APKs, but all which part of the base Android system. If you sign all the APKs, will facing other issues, like failed updates from the market (play)

@doky: i have question. I had created nandroid back up. Soon. I will change the rom. If i dont like the rom. I will restore the backup. Is there any problem restoring you're back-up? Should the data of apps installed in sd card must be on sd card? Is my setting will stay the same? Is the arrangement of the home will be the same? .Thanks

Why to me...?
Ask nandroid's author...

Let me answer that. Just wipe data+cache before restoring your nandroid backup and you should be good to go. Be aware that the CWM we use cant flash the kernel / boot.img back so you might want to also restore it by utilizing the flashable scripts of faqbly and mai77

[HOW TO] Status Bar Transparency For CM7.2

First of all, credits should go to nims11 for this. I pm him and asking how to do that, it worked so I thought to write an extensive tutorial about this. Of course I am not held responsible if something goes wrong, read carefully instructions though it's quite simple, don't mind long explanation, is meant for new users too.
STATUS BAR TRANSPARENCY - WHAT YOU NEED!!!
1. This was tested on CM7.2 on both deodexed and odexed version. Also will work on ICS2. Probably will work on CM7.1 too but haven't tried this. Don't ask me if this will work on other modded versions of CM7.2, I don't know, and I am not willing to try.
2. You need a theme that supports transparency in status bar like Meizu, LunarUI, MIUI, Naked Simplicity, Orion and much more. Theme list can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167075
3. You need ADW Launcher along with theme to make this work. Remember to uncheck wallpaper hack in system preferences.
4. You need Root Explorer or similar app to be able to do have root access.
5. Before proceed with the method, backup SystemUI.apk from system/app (deodexed version) or both SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex (odexed version). A simple copy/paste to your sd card will also do the job.
PROCEDURE FOR HAVING TRANSPARENCY IN STATUS BAR
DEODEXED VERSION
1. Download this file http://www.uploadking.com/V7YWUIJ3UO and transfer to your SD Card (any directory)
2. Use Root Explorer and COPY file
3. Go to system/app --> Press the Mount R/W button on top of screen --> Now Paste. A message pops up to confirm that you want to overwrite file. Press Yes.
4. You will then get a message that systemui stopped responding. DON'T WORRY. Hold power button till phone reboots
5. When it reboots you won't have status bar. DON'T WORRY, IT'S MEANT TO BE LIKE THIS.
6. Use again Root Explorer, go to system/app, press again the Mount R/W button --> then find file SystemUI.apk --> Long press it till a menu pops up --> Click Permissions, it should be as this http://imageshack.us/f/843/screenshot1323167924787.png/ So permissions under file should be as rw-r-r
7. Reboot phone --> YOU'RE DONE.
ODEXED VERSION
The procedure is exactly the same as deodexed version BUT BEFORE DOING THIS YOU NEED TO DELETE SystemUI.odex from system/app using Root Explorer and having pressed the Mount R/W button in order to do so.
So when you're done and lets say you are using MIUI Theme it should look like this http://imageshack.us/f/856/screenshot1323169878975.png/. Different theme will have different icons or different transparency level, transparency is really theme dependant!
DON'T PANIC
1. If it doesn't work then probably you did something wrong
2. Remember that you have backed up original files so you're safe
ALTERNATIVE METHOD VIA CWM (as nims11 suggested) - ODEXED VERSION ONLY!!!
Just flash this through CWM http://db.tt/vlQvk1Nx

Also, a tip as a small contribution for people who don't like adw launcher like me. If you want to have a transparent status bar while using a different launcher then you need to download multi picture live wallpaper from the market. Set your prefered wallpaper through multi picture live wallpaper and the status bar is transparent no matter what launcher you're using
yes it work... also nims maybe you can give us your transparency bar with center clock system UI too... it would be awesome... thx

CM7.2 systemUI
just want to help. here I made flashable. but before you flash you must delete SystemUI.odex using root explorer > system > app choose SystemUI.odex and delete make sure you has mount rw first, if you get FC for SystemUI don't panic, reboot to recovery and then flash it via recovery. don't forget to mount /system first...

[Mod] 15 Toggle for Rogers stock rom

Saw a few posts asking for this and figured I'd share....
I take absolutely no credit for this other than following Wanam's instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725411) and a few guides on how to create the odex file as well. Original package files from raubkatze's post at the i9300 forums.
Haven't modified anything else but it should be fairly to do if you just modify the apk files.
I747MVLLH1 Rom ONLY:
Stock (no edits): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/97084008/15T_Rogers_LH1_stock.zip
With Brightness Slider: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/97084008/15T_Rogers_LH1.zip
Without Brightness Slider and On-Going events: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/97084008/15T_Rogers_LH1_No_Slider.zip
Warning: Do NOT flash this on the base stock rom, it probably won't work as there's been a lot of changes to the XML files
Base Stock :
Without Brightness Slider: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/97084008/15T_Green_Toggles_mod_rogers_edit4.zip
Sept. 7 Update:
- Added files for LH1 rom (btw, loving how this rom finally removes the extra space left behind when you insert punctuation symbols to the end of a message)
- Looking at putting out a version that removes the brightness slider but it seems a fair bit different now [Done]
- Still using the stock green colours, feel free to use one of the many edited lidroid-res.apk files available on XDA; I still haven't decided on what colours/icons I want so I haven't dabbed into it yet - especially since GW2 is out
Thanks man, this is awesome! Good work!! You have your first thanks on XDA! Don't be so modest, I have been trying to get this to work for awhile with no success. Quick question: Do you know how to add the brightness slider and blue theme?
The blue icons would mostly be an edit to the lidroid-res.apk and swapping out the images.... though I haven't tried it just yet asbo was trying to fix the flashlight icon "properly". I'll have a look into it tonight.
I replaced the Lidroid-res.apk with Electron's, re-flashed and got the blue icons. Flash light issue still present. Still no slider.
Here's the updated version with a fixed flashlight and brightness slider added in:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/97084008/15T_Green_Toggles_mod_rogers_with_slider.zip
I haven't changed the icons to blue just yet since I haven't figured out how I want my notifications window to look, but you can just take Electron's lidroid-res.apk to get his icons if you'd like. The only change I made in lidroid-res.apk is to fix the power menu name (fun fact: couldn't compile lidroid-res.apk properly using APKTool but APKManager worked fine).

Thanks man. I learned today that I can deodex the systemui.apk using the paid version of titanium backup. Just select option "undo system dalvik integration", device re-boots and deodexed systemui.apk is free to mod away. Once all mods are done, if you want to go back to odex, just select "integrate system dalvik into Rom", done.
Good fact, thanks.
Thanks for the toggles.

Hmmm, my guess is that the 15 toggles is overriding the brightness slider's settings for some reason - I'll have a look into that.

Unfortunately no... I'm thinking the brightness slider isn't implemented into Roger's rom yet and figuring all that out will take quite some time.
I'll upload another copy tonight without the brightness slider I guess?
Would this work with at&t s3?
Some people were saying that it worked on AT&T's stock rom but do take a nandroid backup to be on the safe side =).
This zip only modifies /system/framework and /system/app so you'll only have to restore the system partition if it doesn't work.
has anyone used this on kyan rom then used jellybomb theme with the 15 toggle theme mod???
I am using Rogers stock rom, rooted. I used titanium backup to deodex systemui.apk, and electron's original mod, with brightness slider works well.
This mod works for odexed stock roms, but not for some versions of att stock rom (search electron's thread for details).

Mod with the slider is still on post #5 =); you're free to make use of files here however you'd like.
David, the brightness slider works for you on stock Rogers rom with just the lidroid-res.apk replaced?
Hmmm, I'm wondering if the odex file that I'm generating is causing the issue then. I haven't tried booting it up without the odex file yet so I'll give that a shot.

No, here is the sequence of actions I took to get the brightness slider to work:
1. Flashed your original mod, without slider.
2. In titanium backup pro, settings/undo system dalvik integration.
3. Went back to Electron's thread, flashed his mod, and it worked including slider (didn't originally work because I am on stock odexed but some combination of 1 & 2 above allowed it to work - both steps 1&2 must be completed for electron's mod to work).

[ICS][MOD][CWMR]Long Press volume changes music track

So after desperatley wanting this mod to work on my captivate glide at any cost, i went after it myself. It looked easy at first but turned out to consume a lot of hours figuring out how to compile decompile and understand basics of smali.
What it does ?
As in the title, pressing the volume buttons a little longer (400 ms) will make the stock music player skip to next track (up vol) or previous track (down vol). This only works while the screen is off and phone locked which is basically the purpose . Right now will work on deodexed ROMs only, meaning pepole having "android.policy.odex" file in the system/framewrok folder would not be able to use this mod.
Caution : The mod if goes wrong can/will make your phone stuck at the boot animation unless the mod is removed. Copy both the files so you can restore your original file back in case it doesn't work for you.
How to Install
1) Make sure you are rooted. and boot into CWMR.
2) Flash LongPressVol.zip - Installs the mod and takes backup
3) Wipe Dalvik and Cache partition
4) Reboot and "Upgrading android" screen should show up.
You are done and now test it and let me know if it works for you. Enjoy!!!
Restore original/Remove Mod :
1) Boot into CWMR.
2) Flash LongPressVolRemove.zip - Restores your original android.policy.jar file
3) Wipe Dalvik and Cache partition
4) Reboot
Tested to be working fine on following ROMs
Nardholio's NardROM 0.4
Thegreatergood's LiteROM .4

Not to put you on the spot but do you think you could use the UCLH2 .jar and make a version that will use odex. not sure if anything would have to be done to the odex file but I have included the non odexed android.policy.jar files if you wouldn't mind taking a stab at it. If you could just modify the .jar file I'll test it. I would be forever in your debt!

Force closes PowerAMP and Nova Launcher.
Tested on ICS Leak.
Just delete the odex file and clear cache and you should be fine. You don't have to deodex the whole ROM.
or for extra points you can reodex, which theoretically will boost speeds a bit (although I'm experiencing wonderful speeds on my ROM). Redodexing is pretty easy (just Google it) and doesn't require him to do his mod again.
Cool thanks for the tip!

Tried with no success stuck at boot screen. Thanks for the hint I'll try re odexing it and see if that will work next.
I like all the bloat that the stock has except the att apps, I would love to try your ROM but I would prefer a completely stock version of it with little modification and fixes. I have tried to do it myself with no success and simple don't have the patience for it. As my computer would end up at the muzzle end of a AR15. I really don't want to waste ammo or buy a new computer just yet. LOL ^o^
I'm very happy with the stock rom after applying the keyboard, tethering fix, and sdcard swap. It will be perfect when I get this working on it. And if its true that having it odexed is faster, I don't know but it is very smooth and battery is awesome.

As evident from your last post, it does not work for you on UCLH2. As i said in my OP that i've not tested it on LH2 and it might not work as the android.policy.jar may be different. It should work on the UCLG9 and the ROM's based on it for sure.
I'll see later what i can do for the LH2. Can you post me a link of your whole system/framework folder, so i can download the same ? I'll maybe try later in the day to see the difference.

Deodexed your files and compared the PhoneWindowManager.smali file with mine, they are binary equals. So technically this mod should work for you. As your ROM is odexed, you need to manually delete the android.policy.odex and android.policy.jar file and then copy the android.policy.jar file from the zip attached to the OP. Remember to clear dalvik and cache partition as the last step before rebooting your phone. As Nardholio suggested this should work and you don't need to deodex the whole ROM.
Updated OP with the name of the ROM's tested to be working fine with this mod. Will try some more and keep adding.

Do not delete the odex file... in an odex ROM all the code, java and smali are located in the odex class until you deodex which pulls the classes out and compresses them into a classes.dex into the particular apk and/ or jar file. So, if you delete the odex file the jar or apk is useless as you just deleted all the java and smali code it uses to communicate with the DVM..

So, if you delete the odex file the jar or apk is useless as you just deleted all the java and email code it uses to communicate with the DVM..

Deodexing is all clear and i know the procedure, but can you let me know some link or tutorial to follow to odex it back again ? I think it needs the whole rom and needs some more files like framework etc. to be odexed again ?
Note: still learning and long way to go
In my trying to learn all of this too, seems you can re-odex a rom. But everything I found has to be done on the phone it self with terminal and a odex wrapper script. Haven't found a way of doing it on a computer yet.

I've read some tutorials as well, but lemme know if you find a easier way to do this. I'm almost certain that the odex files are specific to a specific rom, but i can be wrong as well. That's the reason i believe that the generic mods are only for the deodexed ROMs.

Awesome, been missing this mod since leaving my DHD
CWM Flashables worked great..... But since I'm using the stock rom which has not been deoxed it did not work.
It booted though didn't notice any adverse affects
Not to put you on the spot but do you think you could use the UCLH2 .jar and make a version that will use odex. not sure if anything would have to be done to the odex file but I have included the non odexed android.policy.jar files if you wouldn't mind taking a stab at it. If you could just modify the .jar file I'll test it. I would be forever in your debt!

Yes the odex file is specific per app so if any changes were made, the odex file which contains most of the data for each app would also have to reflect those changes. As the changes you made were part of .smali which is part of the dex file. So on a stock rom the odex file is loaded into the Dalvik machine during boot. This is why when flashed on a odexed rom the mod does not take, because the non modded odex file was already loaded. I gave up as I'm happy using literom4 with your mod.
Edit: Ok here is why it has to be done using the phone, all has to do with BOOTCLASSPATH http://classictomatoe.net/dexo-universal-odex-tool/
If you wanted to make this mod for folks still using the stock rom. All that needs to be done is decompile the .odex file using baksmali make the changes to the necessary files and then smali ?I think? don't quote me on that.
Can you share the how to four this? I'm setting up a rom and would like to add this

Would you use the new uclj3 ? Send me the androidpolicy jar from your rom and hopefully it should be the same. I've not upgraded to .8 literom yet so not sure if it will work as .8 is based on the newer uclj3 released by samsung.

[MOD][ODEX&DEODEX] 24DPI / 30DPI / 32DPI / 36DPI NAVBAR for 4.1.2 stock

Hi! I made a little and simple mod to reduce the dpi of the navbar, i used the tutorial of APatte111 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844878 so big thanks to him
so i think to share the flashable zip i made for someone who wants to try the change !
36 dpi in not a big difference than stock dpi so the buttons are easy to push like stock, but you gain a little more free screen
I made this mod for my gnex, stock odex 4.1.2, but the mod should works fine also for deodex version. The files that changes are framework-res and systemUI so if you have other mod (like battery modification) you'll lose it.
flash zip from recovery, remember to make a backup before try!
I upload also a restore flashable file, but i didn't try it, the mod work fine for me at first attempt
bye!
*************************************
UPDATE 22-10 : add a 32DPI Navbar mod flash from recovery
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
UPDATE 25-10 : as requested, added a 30 dpi and 24 dpi navbar ! ...24 dpi..extreme, but working
##########################
UPDATE 30-10 : Big Update! new nav bar mods for deodex stock 4.1.2, i used the files from Bigxie stock rom so if you have this rom all should work fine, but i think that should work also on teshxx stock rom (need confirmation from someone who flash) so, if you are on stock deodex 4.1.2 try the new navbar mod you prefer! I also upload the restore stock deodex file, but i strongly recommend to make a nandroid before try!
...enjoy and, HIT that "thanks" button please
EDIT: ops...no files upload here!! i think i cannot post more than 5 files?? I'll edit my second post in this page, sorry, go down a little to find the files! or directly here

Same here my friend but i did the 30dpi last night. the only problem i am getting the META-IF, i use the one from Universal Black Background mod. I want to make the META IF out of the bigxie rom but got bootloop when i did that.
I use this tutorial to decompile systemui and i use the modstorm tutorial for framewrok-res.apk. love these 2 tutorials.
Thnx man working perfectly on my Nexus.
Can I ask for a favor? Could you make a rotationlock mod for stock 4.1.2 Rom. I tried it my self several times but without any luck. :banghead:

Hi! i've take a look at the page you linked, that modification changes the "graphics" of softkey press... so it simple modified some png files in the systemUI.apk... the creator said that the mod work on every gnex. If i understand how it work you can use ziptheme (i dont' know how this app work) to create a flashable zip with the modification you choose, it's correct?
SO, if it's works this way you can start flashing the dpi mod for 32 dpi,and then use ziptheme to edit the systemUI.apk already set on 32 dpi and apply the colour/stile of glow you prefer.
Sorry, now i'm at work and the firewall here don't like mediafire, so i cannot download some zip from that page to see what cointains
let me know if you try
ok, i've simply modified the two .png in the systemUI.apk with fingerprint style, try the attached file !
let me know, it should work fine!
EDIT: i can confirm it works i made a "halo icsBlue" variation of 36dpi navbar and flash without problems on my Gnex, i like it ! :good:
hello i have a question, every time a flash this mod i lose navbar and notif.bar....i am using nova laucher, is it possible that nova launch. have some problems with this mod?

Like OP said if you have different mod it wont work, this is for nav bar mod and for stock only. i have nova launcher and no issue at all. my only mod installed is this nav bar.
dev can you include the 4g instead of H with this mod? i tried it with my personal 30dpi but no success.

Hi, i currently use apex launcher but i have also installed nova launcher and both works fine. I think the problem is your configuration, have you a stock 4.1.2 rom? odex or deodex shouldn't be a problem... a different theme or rom could be

4G icons should be located on framework and systemUI,i must do some investigations...can you give me a link where find a modification like to one you need (better if there is also the flashable zip heheh)? so i can see if could be adapted to 30 dpi or not
Guys this mod work only in rom stock odexed, if you have a deodexed or custom rom you lost the navbar. I flash the mod in odexed and deodexed but work only in odexed. Sorry for my bad english

(Request) ICS Blue Status Bar Icons for MSG&Chubbs 4.0

Does anyone have ICS blue status bar icons for MSG&Chubbs 4.0? Other than that been loving the rom!
I believe you can find the icons you want in systemui.apk. find a Rom or theme that has what you want and use 7zip to copy the pictures over.

Go to the morphology thread and follow the steps to flash their theming options
Morphology is a no go on this ROM will break their systemui.

I was wondering if you could provide a little more detail? Would I just extract the APK and then replace the icons and then compress it again?
Thanks for the help.
If you do a search in the msg&chubbs 4.0 thread for morphology you will find that it does work. you have to flash the morphology stock system ui before the morphology zip or your system ui will crash but if you follow the steps you will be fine

Do a backup before you try anything

Well not quite...if you do that, it will break the UI because the 23 toggles mod will be gone.
I tried morphology by itself, tried to change only the status bar icons. Worked OK, for some reason the signal bars were the only thing that couldn't change.

You might have missed a step or done the incorrect order
You will lose the 23 toggle mod but gain a lot of personal customizability. plus this is a lot easier than going into system ui apk or framework res apk
I'm on the Rom you are asking about. I followed the instructions and everything is working fine. Had to run morphology twice and had to change everything on the status bar, not just leave it alone.
Edit I did some research and the devs over in the Rom thread say definitely don't use morphology with this Rom. It breaks some of the mods. I have restored my nandriod and back to grey icons. Small price to pay for a great Rom.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I tried replacing the status bar icons in systemui.apk with blue ones and then put it back and rebooted but I still had the grey icons. Not sure what I am missing.
Thoughts?
Which mods does morphology break?

I am not 100% sure but I think it will break all the 3minit stuff which is baked into the systemui and framework. Key word is "i think".
Upload your SystemUI.apk here and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks a lot man, I started by trying to change just the 4G icon, but when I put it back it was still grey. I am not sure what exactly happened. I had to zip it to get it under the 8MB limit for uploads.

Morphology is compatible with MSG & Chubbs only if u flash it correctly as outlined above. U still get to have all the toggles & more importantly u can customize them along with the status bar icons & the settings icons. Yes the 3minit options will no longer work, but since u can customize the clock items in morphology u dont lose anything. I've attached some screenshots to show

Try this one (non flashable, push to System/App.)
