How to take a screenshot in ICS? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Am I missing it or what? I can't seem to figure out how to take a screenshot (without an app). I'm on Calkulin's Stock Rooted De-odex'd FC05 ROM v1.0.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Hold Vol down + power. It takes longer than it did on gb so just wait until the screenshot happens.

I think ist up and home or down and home. They changed the combination.

This is only for GB, I'm not sure that it applies to ICS -
This may be counter-intuitive, but using the built-in ss taking capability actually consumes more resources. If I remember correctly, doing the button combination the first time starts a whole new service that would sit there and eat up ram while waiting for the button press. I don't know how it doesn't just use the same routine to for subsequent button presses, but it does start a new service that wasn't there before (confirmed by checking Settings/Application/Running services). On the other hand, an app like ShootMe is only called into ram when you personally start it. And it released that ram when you quit it.
I must admit that I don't quite understand how this business works; an explanation from a developer is welcome.

Ics is power + vol down
no im not yelling

This. Both ways works. I personally use the home+power combo, as hitting the volume button with a TPU case on can be a serious pain.

i modded the Camera.apk a bit.

Should work on all froyo firmwares, not sure about eclair.
I tried upgrade Stock Apps from SGS Tools, but nothing happens. No Change.
No point in Upgrade Stock Apps is changing my System.
Edit: Stupid. I forgot the checkbox.
You have root and busybox is installed?
Next version of the app will show if there appears errors while applying..

No everything works. Was my error, your app is working. The hacked cam is really nice.
Some suggestion for hacked gallery3d: enable autorotation at start and disable on exit.
Great work! Was searching earlier this week for an hack/app that would use the power button als capture button but could only find a very old thread about this on XDA.
Wondering why someone didn't attempted this before, it seems so natural. Samsung should have made this the default behavior in the first place, locking the camera with the power button caused pain when I accidentally pressed it the first time I got my SGS and it wouldn't respond..

Indeed it would. Either making it a selectable option or disabling it altogether is fine by me.
Nice work, btw.

[IDEA] Porting screencaptureservice from s2

This way instead of taking photos with back + home we would take it with power + home which in my opinion is much easier, although maybe its just me.
What do you guys think?
I'll take a look onto it tomorrow since today i'm really busy
or at least use button remapper

do you have information which app is responsible for this service?
EDIT: googled around and found: Press Back-Button and while Back-Button is pressed, press Home-Button "é voila"
works with my sgs 1 and JVR
interesting feature^^
or it is only that you want to do it with other key-combo?

But doesn't boot any faster, your point is invalid. OK kidding I hadn't noticed it shut down any faster then a normal reboot, but since I don't use stock ROMs I don't tend to use this app.

Thank you. This is very helpful for Nexus One with broken power button. :victory:
Awesome app!
Plus, the recovery buttons combinations sometimes don't work, so I use this app to get to CWM/TWRP to be able to upgrade from stock to AOSP.

Go to AOKP or CM9, screen shot is in the power menu
Sent from AOKP Goodness :-D
I'm on stock ICS and I tried every combo(power/home,power vol down/up,etc.) but didn't work.
When I hold down home i see the ics task manager. Anyone have any ideas...thanks
If the button combos don't work purchase screenshot ER. Best screenshot app hands down. Has worked flawlessly with every phone/rom combo I've tried it with in the last 2 years.

[Q] Built-in 4-Way Menu

Does anyone know if there is a built-in 4-way menu like the default: http://i.imgur.com/BmUz8Nz.png . So something like Power off, Airplane, Reboot, Recovery, Download/Odin, et cetera?
I've seen images of them but can't find the files. Thanks!
EDIT: Like this..

No, that is what I currently have. You press Power button, then press Restart, and THEN you get the 4 way menu. I want the one where all the options show up after pressing the Power button. Thanks for looking.

I am rooted and I would like to keep the "stock" look and would prefer to mod than to install a program. I was hoping there was an Xposed module or a mod that I could simply flash. I guess once I get my computer back (God knows how long that will be), I'll make the module myself and upload it here. I'll wait to see if anyone has suggestions until then.
Bumpity bump.
