Franco kernel on Axi0m Crossbreed question - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a semi noob question. Axi0m Crossbreed (and other Kang ROMs) has an over clock and under clock setting.
But so does the franco kernel updater.
My question is, which takes precedence? Or will they auto switch to match? I don't want to over clock using the Franco updater if the ROM will take precedence.
Also, similar question about Franco updater and volume plus. Will one take precedence or will they both increase volume?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

I would think that both are making the same modification to your phone. Therefore changing one would affect the other. If in doubt, set both the same or only use one.
This question doesn't belong in the development section. It will probably get moved.

Thanks for the info.
I figured it would go here since it's in reference to a ROM and kernel updater.

Sir, yes sir!
Where would it go then? General?
As I said, it pertains to a ROM and kernel. Sounds like a developmental question to me.
But whatever.

Why don't you try using a better rom while you're at it. Droid theory is just a kanger. There are plenty of roms by authors who create original work.

Better rom?? His ROM is sick. AOKP on top of 4.0.4... can't get much better than that. Battery life is the best!

Awesome way for everyone to avoid his question!
To the OP, it depends on which one is set at boot. Whatever one is set at boot will take precedence. However, if you have them both set on boot (this would be bad) you could have tremendous issues.
If you want to run the kernel stock (like Franco intended) then don't do anything and if you want to flash Milestone 2, do it through the app or manually and don't set anything and it will run stock OC'd speeds with the stock governor.

Generally we try to limit threads in the development area to posts sharing something that's been developed or for R&D and other WIP projects. This site was created for developers so it's actually just one big development forum.

ROMS, ROMS and more ROMS. . .

I use to post and utilize this forum when I had a Vibrant. I love my SII. In fact, I love it so much that, although I bought it the day it came out, I have waited until now to finally root it.
I'm so out of the loop. Are the ICS roms ready to go as daily drivers or should I wait until T-Mo drops theirs? If it's all G2G, then what are your opinions on what's best?
If you feel that Ginger is better as a daily, which is good to jump into?
Keep in mind that I am not looking for super powers and problems. I just want a good daily driver. I like being able to back **** up and use some of the features available to rooted devices, drop bloat, and theme a bit.
I'll run a log of my experiences and try to find issues, if necessary, so that this thread can appropriately stay in this section. If that still is considered a rule breaker, then I politely ask the MODs to move it to the best section.
Thanks in advance.

Whether you run a log of issues or not, the topic has no bearing on development.
I can tell you from experience that the ICS Perfection is a pretty stable build. I have been running it for a week without much of a hicup. Obviously the gingerbread ROMs are more stable then the ICS ones. I used the CM7 build as a daily driver before ICS and lived it. Since I went to ICS, Eugene has started work on fixing some of the bugs on his version of CM7. Best thing to do is test them out and see what one is your style.

sorry to ask this here, but when you say kernel is insecure, do you just mean that you edited the default.prop ro.secure=0 ? or is there more to it than that? i am just trying to learn

This is strictly my opinion, but I'd wait until someone releases a ROM with these minor things worked out. We've got a lot of great devs working on this phone and judging by what we've seen with the skyrocket leaks, it won't be long at all before we see a lot of stuff worth flashing. This one is marked as a base, so I'd wait for some things to be ironed out.

OK so here is my question, out of curiosity.. we have a system dump along with the leaked radio and kernel. Why does a dev need a base? Is the system dump and kernel not enough to make a base from? Jw?

Have a look at the threads for each ROM that interests you and read some of the more recent feedback from users to see what problems (if any) people are having. Most importantly, make a nandroid and give the ROM(s) a go. Try each for a couple of days or a week and you'll find what works best for you.

That's because devs like jovy, Rushing and pmt3r pump out the same ROM with 17 thousand different themes. Then we have 5 other guys compiling the same damn cm10 or aokp ROM from source.. In reality we have a small amount of ROMs that are actually built from the ground up. Then our guys take that base and do what they want to it. They have skyICS which to them is their go to touchwiz ROM (and honestly skyICS is better than all of our TW roms combined.) just like Darkside Evolution was ours. Then we have thelastsidekick making another thousand roms instead of just working on one and making it the best it can be. IMO our dev section is cluttered with a bunch of unneeded crap. I'd rather have a few more devs that know enough to cook some kernels instead of devs that just copy and paste what they want to an already existing base.

I love how you're quick to place blame in everyone else but what have you attempted? If its such a huge problem and there's a lack of development work going on, why don't you go ahead and create your own ROM from the ground up or better yet, create us a custom kernel. Until you can do either of these things, where do you even stand? This is not an insult or because I even take offense to it. I say this because people like jovy actually put time into their ROMs.

Don't get offended. It's the truth. Go look at the dev section. Its a mess. Half of you guys don't even post your githubs, sources, or code. So.. you're basically taking bases and kanging them to death. Making the same ROM 10 times . Which I have no problem with. Its open source that's the point. But.. Keep it organized! Work on one project at a time and atleast finish it. You have dumped at least 2 ROMs yourself to start on others. This leaves the dev section a huge mess and easier for newcomers to flash something they shouldn't and risk a brick. Look at the general section. Brick threads galore. And honestly I don't need to contribute by making a ROM or anything of that sort. I contribute by donating like any good flasher should and trying to help others with issues I've had myself. If the garbage was thrown out and the dev section cleaned up we would have less than 7 active threads. Rushing making a new thread for an already made ROM just because it has a different theme? Insanity.

Insanity.

I'm just holding out for the new Nexus so I can move on out to a different phone. The Dev forum is a mess here. There's even ROM threads without ROMs in them. It's like a DMZ free for all.

He!! Yea! I just want a nexus so I can have updates im not waiting around anymore..

Pmt3r claims that he does.. I don't buy it though. A 4.0.4 kernel built from the ground up would be cool. In the mean time I'm perfectly happy with aokp and CM. I was just stating the obvious.. or unobvious I guess lol.

You don't buy it? I have been testing it for over a week now and its Better than the skyrockets kernel that everyone is flashing. I have screenshots to prove it...

Definitely +1.
Correct me if I'm wrong.. Aren't Cyanogenmod and TW just customized ports from the originals as well? The only roms built from the ground up are the ones that come from Google, samsung, etc. Not being a **** just clarifying not sure if im right

Yes and no. Cyanogenmod is built from the ground up using their own source code that sticks closely to the AOSP source code. As far as Touchwiz goes, it's built from the ground up by Samsung. It's the reason why Wi-Fi calling isn't available on AOSP or AOKP.
Now as far kernels, Samsung has released 4.0.4 source but the only devs I know that have built their own kernel FROM THE GROUND UP are Eugene373s streamline and TDJ venom kernels. As far as other kernels, they all include mods and changes that they have made to the original Samsung kernel. In other words, modding instead of building from scratch.
Like I said, I don't have an issue with this. If I had the time to learn how to dev and cook up my own idea on what a ROM should look like and perform I totally would. But some of us lead different lives and some things just aren't possible. That's why I donate. I feel like a scumbag using something someone made for free that's better than what I actually paid for. But that's just me.
All I'm saying is.. dev section is a mess. Lol mods, let's clean it up and get rid of discontinued ROMs. As a dev if you have different theme ideas and want to post them for your ROM? Put it in its rightful forum. There's a reason the THEMES and apps forum exists. If we already have a certain official ROM unofficially compiled from source, let's agree on one thread instead of having 5 people compile the same ROM. Don't make 10 threads with the same rom and a different theme.
Voiddweller was right. It's a bit out of control. We got too many brick threads and too many people cluttering up threads with questions that have pre-existing answers obtained with a simple search.
Just sayen' fellas. I still visit the NS4G forums, I gave it to my gf and got this. I love that forum. This one? Not so much. When we get devs leaving (TDJ wasn't the first) that says something. You guys wanna see 4.2 on this phone? Fix the forum.
Sorry for wall o text.

I completely agree.

[KERNEL] StarKissed Kangerade [4.X / Dual-Boot / uBoot][01/04]

This kernel is about customization. I found many strong points in the kernels I tested before starting this project, but couldn't find that one that combined them. This is my attempt to do so.
This thread is not directed to the elite few, so there is no need to put on your fancy hat when you enter. Relax and enjoy your device.

If it works on any of the three kernels, then there is no reason it wouldn't...

Only tested for 4.1, I haven't tried it on 4.2 but it does NOT include the sdcard binary that was causing so many issues.
Any plans on making it for 4.2?

I based from the 4.1 branch and I haven't looked into the differences since I have no real interest in 4.2 until it is a little more polished. If there is any chance of mixed compatibility, then I would most likely do it. Right now I am trying to find some patches to make wifi a little less garbage. I can get "good" signal from my Evo3D in my back yard from the router at the front of the house. I barely get any connection 4 rooms away on the Nexus. That can't all be hardware.

is this kernel for 4.1.2?

Very nice. I like it.

interesting, I want to try
Things may finally start moving a little faster. I believe I finally have the Mac compiling the kernel instead of passing the job to Linux through SSH
testing it right now. looking good, thanks.
I'm just looking forward to a 4.2 kernel from twisted. Hopefully you pick it up
Me too... Want a 4.2 kernel
