If you're gonna be making a hundred phone calls a day and multitasking between notes emails contacts etc, is there anything better than touch wiz to help you work more efficiently?

Only thing that stands out to me from touch wiz is the contact sync function. This is similar to HTC sense and integrates all your contacts from various social networks such as twitter and fb. It also syncs the contact pic from fb.
This function doesn't make me miss HTC sense at all.
Other than that I hate stock touch wiz look. It has a iphone + childish look to it. And bloat got me ditching stock rom all together lol.
Right now I'm using paradox rom which is fully themed so even tw looks good!
On the other hand are you planning on flashing other roms or just keeping stock w launcher replacements?

Right more I'm using Ms paradox love and am perfect with it. I like how the phone shortcut leads you to the active call rather than using aosp and getting a second call tab. I'm using the tw launcher from beastmod. Besides the phone button I really don't notice much with the differences between touchwiz and aosp other than the call log dialing features. Aosp has a much better call log with the slide to call or send message feature.

So I have a problem I hope somebody will be able to answer for me. the slide down to answer on sense roms absolutely drives me crazy. The main reason i use sense roms is for the dialer. Have been using CM7 for quite a long while but hate the dialer with it. Tried MyDialer and it is ok but not really feeling that one either. Is there anyway to change the pull down to either tabs or rotary like in CM7?
Look through the different ROMs... Some of them have alternate lockscreens... Check out incredibly re-engineered 2.4

I'll take a look at it although I have a feeling its not going to have what i'm looking for. The regular lock screen I don't have a problem with but the phone call answer screen out what I haven't been able to change.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
if you want to stay on CM, you could always try go contacts, which is as close to a sense dialer as possible
That will work. Thank you.

Try EasyAnswer. It offers you two buttons to choose from.
Leave it at this, the shortcut to the active call gets the cake to me. Why waste so much energy to get to the active call? Multitasking is generous with Touchwiz.

yeah.... just you
Touchwiz is worst thing on ICS. Somebody said that before and i got it right when i tried myself

In any case then, I'll ask had anyone found a launcher which takes you to the active call? I miss the end button.

not sure what you mean, not even from your first post...
like when someone calls you, does the call screen pop up?
well if that's your question.. mine does. I think it worked for TW ICS, but now i'm using APEX and it's working for sure on that launcher.

Just you. AOSP is so much better than Touch****
Third Samsung device but I hate Touchwiz
I'm sorry if my English doesn't work for you. The thing I'm trying to say is, when your multitasking and want to switch between apps and phone Call multiple times between during a phone call, Touchwiz will take you to the active call and make it so much easier when you press the phone on the launcher, you know the littler icon next to the app tray button than takes you to your active call unlike aosp which taker you to a dialer only, and not an active call.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Touchwiz is nice. The launcher not so much but everything else works.
To do what you want on AOSP you have to pull down on the notification bar and pres on the phone call notification. That's what I do on Touchwiz too.
i actually love gingerbread touchwiz way better than stock GB also love the dock bar cuz thats what i use alot. but after trying the 4.0 kang version damn i fell in love. GB TW has alot of cool features like turn ur phone over to mute it (perfect for when u dont wanna get up in teh morning), slide to call or message someone, browser leaves u in the exact same spot, dialer knows numbers when u type the names, i honestly dont know why ppl hate it sooo much. GB TW> stock GB but stock ICS> ICS TW. i honestly am gonna miss some features especially the turn over to mute cuz i REALLY REALLY!! hate trying to fiddle with it when ur half asleep trying to turn off the damn alarm when i could just turn it over and BAM it stops
I'm never gonna like aosp, if it wasn't for touchwiz would I be buying Samsung?

I do this also, I just use the notification bar, that's what I call multi tasking.. Not going to the home page and then clicking the call icon. I believe you can also hold home for the recent tasks. I do that a lot for multi tasking

Heck, that skyrocket ICS that was released a while ago by eugune or something looked better and felt better than the leaked ICS. **** TOUCHWIZ. Altho i prefer touchwiz on Gingerbread as it looks better than aosp, more suited for a larger screen.

What do you think will be the next update for the GNII to improve it to be more like a tablet? Any ideas?
Swyped by Me & My GNII
I was wondering the same thing, but to be totally honest with you, it's already like too perfect. I really don't know anything else that can be done to it to make it any better except maybe, being able to use the voice feature on it without being connected to the Internet? Just my 2 cents.

Being able to designate which apps are by default started in full-phone or full-tablet UI mode would be great.

I really doubt they will enable tablet mode, they have tablets for that. That and for most people the screen is still to small from the tablet UI. heck even the Nexus 7 runs the same UI as the Note 2 does

I don't know, I think the whole phablet thing had many hesitant about this phone. I sincerely hope you're right though. I love CM10, PA, and other similar ROMS but they take so much time to get fully functional. I just hope there is Dev out there who will jump in and take it on for our Sprint variant.
the note II is anything but perfect. I have a lot of "gripes" with it.
first 320dpi. seriously? is that a joke I could not root it fast enough to get it going at 240dpi. Ahhh so much better
burst mode is borked. the huge delay built into the implimentation on the Note II renders is useless. as a temp fix use best shot its instant but only 8 shots.
on my S3 I can assign my favorite upload method (imgur for pictures youtube for video) as defaults. just tap the imgur or youtube icon and its going
this is GONE in the NOTE II I have to tap share and scroll to my selections EVERY TIME. very annoying once you got used to the S3 way.
toggles are gone. so I can't turn off mobile data etc.. on the Note II easily from the pull down like I can on the S3.
So the biggest thing I'd like in a messaging app is a back button on the top left corner. I know it's an iphone thing but I'm really used to it. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything like this? Go SMS has been good but that's the only feature I miss.

I find that the hardware back button is easier to reach.

I haven't needed to use it on this phone or my last, but you might try handcent and see if that has the functionality you're looking for.

There's more to it than that though. The back button takes you back to the last thing you were on (or at least it is suppose to) while the top left button takes you back to the first page of the app. This is a useful feature because i often press home right after finishing a text then when I reopen the app to text someone else, it takes me back to the last person I texted. Then I have to close the app and open it again.
I think the Jellybean messaging app has this.
That is exactly correct! Thanks. I found it. However, the last update broke MMS..

Did you look through the settings? Sometimes you have to activate it. Also deactivate the notification of the stock app.
Yeah i did. Go sms works for m

Didn't want to repost. So I'll bump this and ask.
What's the best Messaging app you're using? I'm using handcent, but I want that's fast and fluid as well (sorta like the iphone messaging app.. the only thing it does right haha)
I'm not a fan of the animations on the Stock app or Handcent. I did like 4.1 Messaging app but the MMS bug was too much
Try GO SMS PRO. Once you have it installed, go into settings>basic>running mode>lite
Also, with Go SMS Pro, you can send group text (like iPhone does it). Only thing I hate is that when getting group texts, phone becomes very slow to a frustrating point if multiple people from group text is replying at once.
Go SMS was very bloaty for me. But I'll try that. Thanks!

Hello,
I currently like the way the stock messaging app is, and have been unsatisfied with Handcent and GoSMS. My only only gripe is how the screen turns on when a SMS is received. I installed FreeGS3 and was moderately satisfied with it, however once it came to phone calls I had an echo of myself through my speaker, despite whether or not I have a headset plugged in or a bluetooth headset. So I reverted to stock again, but really like the SMS options that they had in FreeGS3. I'm not here to fix the echo, so please do not bother, I am not a noobie but this is the first post I've ever done on XDA as I am not a big question asker. I generally figure things out on my own but am stumped.
I tried installing the FreeGS3 messaging app (SecMMS.app) and it does not show the advanced options that show up in FreeGS3. Is there any way to stop the screen from turning on on stock [rooted] when I receive an SMS? Obviously the makers of FreeGS3 managed to implement that setting in the messaging app, so did I copy the wrong app?
Thank you!

You might be able to just replacd your mms.apk with the other one that has that feature...might work, might not
