Any way to change that?
The white epic touch has uncomfortably bright capacitive buttons. So I have to use turn off after 6 seconds option instead of turn off never. It still bothers me though. The black epic touch didn't have this problem.
Not that I know of. I've had mine turned off since the day I got the phone. I know what the buttons are and where they are so I dont need them lit up.

It's certainly possible on HTC phones -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276936
i have a white one too, and, yes, the lights are a lot brighter than on the black ones...Plus, I have a wrapsol covering the entire phone, and, they cast an erie glow
through the screen protector.
Actually, this reminds of an idea for a mod that I had. I thought of it when I had a white et4g screen for a little while, the capacitive buttons look so cool because of the slight aura around the lights.
The idea was a mod that lit each individual button when you hit them, except the light would fade in and out quickly; similar to what the on-screen keys do on the galaxy nexus. It would couple well with a mod that would have them light up quickly in succession when the phone is woken up, rather than simultaneously.
Wishful thinking I suppose lol.

Ever try using 1.5 seconds for the backlight?

I don't think that would be possible, simply because they were never designed to work that way. Each soft key would have to have its own LED.

Are those capacitive buttons still Amoled?
Cause then by definition they have their own led pixels.

Curious.. for battery? Or do they just annoy you?
Cd's or tapes?
Would love this for the 4 buttons with the app screen filter, in pitch black 15% light works on the screen but the four buttons hurt my eyes in pitch black

well both cuz i wanna save battery life and i use screen filter and the bright lights are annoying from the 4 buttons and the keyboard
Its probably been asked but a quick search turned up nothing.
I use screen filter at night to further reduce screen brightness but the capacitive buttons stay bright as hell. Is there any way to dim them as well???
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
If you are using Samsung dock and Desk Home app, that dims the buttons after a short while. I run cm7. But that's if you are not using the phone... there is no known way to dim them if it is in use

Hmm..are these not controlled through the kernel? If they blink when activated maybe there is a way to get them to behave in inverse, like off by default and blink only when touched? I would like to see them completely disabled..wondering why this can't be accomplished..

That would be pretty awesome. I'd like to see that as a feature. I'm sure it would help save some battery, and you can *never* have too much battery
Have you suggested that to any of the kernel devs?

Sorry if this has been addresses....search sucks on the xda app.....what app do we use to have our capacitive buttons work as the notification light?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You need to have a kernel that supports BLN and download the BLN app from the market.
Dark side support it?
Edit: it works.....thanks alot....just came from epic 4g touch......missing my led notification light

theres also an app called noled on the market, its what i use..works great :0
Does it light a single one instead of all of them at once? Customize which light does what?

Damn right it is.....my epic touch with the light had 3 colors you can modify per notification.....I still like this phone better..... be nice if we had the same amount of developers the epic touch has

But therefore it is turning the screen on and off, but in parts. Plus most, if not all, of our phones have CRT Off, which does use most/all of the pixels.
I used NoLED for a few days, switched to the paid version of BLN afterwards.
I tried both NoLED and BLN. NoLED was cool for a while, but BLN in the end is the best alternative for notifications.

check this app on market "missed call reminder v1"
Doesn't this device have a notification/charging LED? On the left of the speaker grill, there are two lenses or whatever they are, one I'm sure is the proximity sensor, the camera is further to the side, but what is the other?
Just found it curious that the GS3 has a notification light, the Galaxy Nexus had one, but this doesn't?
Light and proximity sensor. One of them is a two piece.

You have to have notification light in settings like the rom I am using now liquid smooth even then only messages will blink in status bar. The notification lights used are the capcitive lights at bottom of phone you can set it to blink fast , slow etc. Also you could try BLN from the market and see if it works for you.

I just downloaded NoLED, pretty cool little program, I don't like the phone button LED's to show charging and notifications so this is a good alternative.

Yup! I recently just purchased BLN Pro because I'm now back on TW based ROMs and wanted the blink feature. Awesome little app.
If you're on an AOSP based ROM like CM, it does this natively and the app isn't needed.

Lol no, light isn't supposed to come out of there. The light sensor there measures how much light there is outside so it could change the screen brightness accordingly... sorry for the misunderstanding though. The only thing we have as notification lights is the bottom row of capacitive buttons.

It bothers me when I'm playing games on the phone and the bottom lights come up all the time. Is there an app that can turn the lights off for me?
Or is there a tasker program that will allow me to turn it off? Any help is appreciated!

Yes there are settings for it that keep them on shorter or longer. My wife's relay uses this same setting to control the backlight on the slider keypad as well!
Look in DISPLAY and see if there is "touch key light duration" I have stock rom (actually wicked, based on stock) and I have 1.5 (default), 6, off, on as the 4 choices.
Yea permanent as long as the screen is on though! Thanks for replying man but I'm on CM10 that rom has a slightly different configuration.

No don't think so. Might be an app for it or mod with in the forums, maybe elesbb can jump in, he knows how to write code for such a thing I think.
