What ROM are you on or are you stock? I think either menu or long holding should give the option to delete..

Use QuickPic. It's blazing fast and better in almost all aspects. You can find it on the Market.
quick test, remove your sd card and boot your phone, are the pictures there?
if the pictures were stored on your sd card then there will be a file for thumbnails, remove them there.

Took some new screens with Shootme but the new pics never shows up in the gallery. I can find the folder but only old screens. What to do?
Try view using disk drive or reboot phone.

Worked on me. Power off phone then turn it on again.

Ok, so you reboot your phone every time you take new photos? No solution for me!
If im using camera to take photo not a problem with me. It automatically added the picture to my gallery. But when im taking new screen shoot using shoot me apps i need to reboot and the picture will be at my gallery after that.

I had this problem with the "screenshot" application and it was resolved by removing the screenshot folder off the SD card, reloading the SD card, opening the Gallery app to let it scan and then placing the folder back on the SD card. Restarting the phone and opening the Gallery app rescanned the SD card and fetched the images there fine ever since.

***ADDED***
I just noticed, my audio files aren't showing up in the music app either :S
Plus, I'm not the only one with this issue.

***Original Post***
Hey,
So this happened day before yesterday, on CM9 beta 5, my photos didn't show up in my gallery, I booted into recovery, mounted and unmounted my sdcard, cleared cache and stuff, to no avail. Today, I installed HTC One maXimus 3.0 with a full wipe, but didn't fix anything. However, what I've noticed is, if a picture is placed in the root of a folder in the sdcard, it shows up, but only if I cut and paste photos there, the ones already in the folder didn't show up either.
What I mean is:
I have a folder, /sdcard/DCIM.
The pictures that were in that directory didn't show up either. But, when I moved pictures from sdcard/DCIM/100Media to sdcard/DCIM, they showed up in the gallery.
I have another folder, /sdcard/pictures.
It has two folders inside it, 'Screenshots,' and 'Instagram.' Those photos weren't showing up either. But, when I moved them into /sdcard/Pictures, they showed up.
The biggest problem, even the pictures I take on the camera, don't show up in the gallery.
The only thing I believe is left is for me to make a backup of my sdcard, then format the sdcard, put everything back, and create new folders for the pictures and place em there.
If you have any suggestions other than that, please post it here. Id really appreciate it and will remember to hit the thanks button too!

Check to see if there is a .nomedia file in your root directory. If there is, delete it and rescan.

I deleted the file, and rebooted, problem is all there. How do I rescan?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Check that the file has not reappeared. I think this is a bug from ROM Manager which has just been fixed in the latest version. So may need to update ROM Manager too.
The .nomedia file tells the photo gallery and music player that there is no media there and to ignore any it sees. If it is in the root directory then it will not see any media files in any directory

It isn't there, and I don't have Rom manager :S

I even deleted .showme, no luck :/
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You may just have to wait a while and it will update the gallery/music automatically. Sorry I can't be more help, but if you did have that .nomedia file, it would have stopped your apps seeing the files

Also try deleting the app data

See my post "reset the mediadatabase". ICS stores every medialink in a database, so that no other app has to search mediafiles (vids, pictures and music) in the storage everytime. If this database is corrupted, ICS will not find any new data by this moment. The way I described in my post fixed the problem.

SGH-T999 (4.1.1)
Google Play Music (Version 4.4.811H.526848)
required app: ROM Toolbox
1. Open Settings > Application manager > All > Google Play Music
2. Select "Force stop" and "Clear data"
3. Open ROM Toolbox > Root Browser
4. Create the following folder on your SD card /mnt/extSdCard/GoogleMusic/files
5. Tap and hold the folder named "files" until menu appears, and select "Create shortcut" at the bottom of the list
6. Navigate to /data/data/com.google.android.music/
7. Select "Create" and the "files" folder should be linked
8. Open "Play Music" app and sync
9. Select "Choose on device music" and it should show the available space on your sd card
10. Profit
tl;dr the directory where music is stored has changed from /data/data/com.google.android.music/cache to /data/data/com.google.android.music/files for both music and artwork, so create a symlink from your external sdcard in that location.
Great Guide, and thanks!
I'll give this a shot!
Is there a problem with the ext sdcard bc Im currently trying to figure out why my internal sd is so full from apps and link2sd and apps2sd hasnt worked...let me know if you have any info!

Do you think it's possible to do the same thing with the Google Play Movies & TV App?
What is the benefit of doing this if I may ask?

are you using a stock based rom or a CM based rom? the directories are different. on CM10 it would be /storage/sdcard1 or /mnt/sdcard1 instead of extSdCard
I'm on stock...

make sure you are using Root Browser from the ROM Toolbox app, ES File Explorer would do it differently if at all. i'm sure other root file managers would do it differently as well.
Awesome! Thanks!

Great guide! Thanks!
works great! be sure to create the 'files' folder using ROM Toolbox. In my first attept I did it with Astro File Manager and the workaround failed. Deleted the 'files' folder and created it again with ROM Toolbox and BINGO!
Having Issues....
Didn't work for me
Operating on a Droid Razr HD with BatakangROM Beta 0.16. I'm thinking it's because I can access my SD from more than one way? Honestly, I don't know but I found this link from another thread I've been trying to set this up for hours in multiple ways and I would really like to get this to work so the 64gb MicroSD I bought isn't a waste.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Looks like you are doing something wrong. I had the same error the first time but then i realized I should not click the "link" button at the bottom until I get to the actual folder i want to link to - not linking the folder to itself.
Sweet, thanks! I had been hesitant about keeping all my google music on my device but now I don't have to worry.
For some reason my gallery will not show pictures that are on my memory card. I have unmounted and reset the phone and still they will not show up. When I go into my file manager they still show up but they won't show up under gallery
