I saw alot of cases/mini usb keyboards on ebay.
For example... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...orefresh=true&autorefresh=true#ht_3271wt_1219
I was just wondering, will the mini usb connection work on the A100?
If not, does anybody know of any good cheap keyboards I can use? (under $30...)
Not the tiny ones, like a real one!
Thanks!

Dude, order one and let me know how it is.
it wont. Kernel doesnt support USB host mode.
There's a way to enable it isn't there?

i have not found one yet that will work yet that uses USB.

Hi,
I bought a cheap USB OTG cable (£2), which was supposed to work on the Galaxy Nexus, but doesn't seem to.
I will probably buy another one anyway (any recommendations which one I should buy, and where), but I just wondered if there was anyway I could modify the one I have to work with a USB drive?
Cheers
Stewart
ebay seller iTrimming sells a working OTG host cable for GNex.

Sorry, should have said before. I have tried StickMount - no go! The stick doesn't even light up when connected.
And I would prefer a UK seller! Thanks though!!
Ordered one from iTrimming!
Hopefully should work ok!
Hi fellow Xoomers!
I need your help finding a keyboard for my Xoom that comes with USB and HDMI ports.
I actually don't know if such thing exists, but if yes then I need it!
I've almost deserted my PC and my Xoom is doing all the work I need but still there's the need to connect flash drives, use HDMI...etc.
I'd really appreciate it if someone had a link for this.
Thank you in advance!
I use a dell bluetooth keyboard if I need a real keyboard. It is nice since bluetooth is wireless. I'm wondering if this little hub might be something that would work for you. Personally I don't have one. For HDMI, I have a separate cable.

This is not what I wanted but certainly was helpful.
Thanks!
I use the bluetooth motorola keyboard, but if you want a laptop style one this one is surely for you: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOROLA-BL...ccessories&hash=item337768b411#ht_2286wt_1185
For HDMI I use a cable as well, but you can buy a dock station also
I need a laptop-like keyboard for xoom 2, but I didn't find anything

Now that the source code has dropped, are any developers considering adding USB OTG/Host Mode anytime soon? I'd be willing to donate if someone got it working or was actively working on it.
For anyone wondering what this is: USB OTG/Host Mode allows you to connect other devices to your E4GT (IE: Flash Drive, HDD, Keyboard, Monitor, DLSR Camera, etc.) and use/access them. It is supported by the International SGS2 and the US Carriers, but for some reason Sprint disabled this functionality in the kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802740 credit for this link goes to dberend! It's a usb otg helper link, but our phone are missing some modules if I understand correctly. They end in the file extension ".ko"
Last I heard Agats kernel was recognizing that a OTG device was connected! I'm not sure if it is working completely yet though.
Responses are appreciated!

USB OTG/Host Mode lets you connect a USB device to your E4GT, like a Thumb Drive, External Hard Drive, Keyboard, xBox Controller, etc. It's useful for a variety of reasons.
If this is in the wrong section, will a mod move it? Thanks in advance!

Although I wouldn't use this, I can see why people would want this. I use it on my tablet all the time so people without a tab can benefit from this.

Yeah its a very useful feature. I heard a few people mention the E4GT supports it, but that it was disabled in the kernel
It doesn't appear that very many people are interested in this, should I let this thread die?
i am still interested in this
I would use this function for sure.. even though you can already make these by combining a power cord with some kind of microUSB-to-USB adapter.. basically a "powered" mUSB-to-sUSB adapter..
Before I read about them, I bought an adapter that I thought would work, but not the right one.. then I read about making them yourself is possible.. but I never tried it yet..
If they were an already built accessory, I would use it to mount a multi-port USB hub, then connect a keyboard and mouse.. I of course would need to figure out how to use both the HDMI out AND the USB hub.. it would be seriously sick to use your phone literally like a mini PC!

The SGS2 International and SGS2 from other carriers supports it, but for some reason Sprint disabled it in the Kernel? I'm not 100% why its not yet supported..... all I know is that its possible, and I want to be able to mount my Flash Drive, HDD, and plug my phone into an HDMI converter for my HDTV and bluetooth a mouse/keyboard combo.... mini-PC, like you said
I added a poll to see what level of interest people have about this

Very interested, there is an app for controlling Canon DSLRs that I want to use which requires this.
Thanks for not flaming guys. I'm moving this to general as it looks like it could become more of a discussion thread.

I am also interested. I bought a few of these usb cables on ebay- but none worked. I would like to use a usb keyboard...which right now I am considering buying another bluetooth keyboard.
I'm also extremely interested. Would be very awesome.

Has anyone had success using one of these adapters (the cheap passive ones) for utilizing a PS/2 keyboard on the Kindle, of course going into a powered USB hub? I'd like to hopefully find a cheap solution because I currently do not own a USB keyboard, only an old PS/2 style. I figured I would ask first before I shelled out a much needed $1 for the adapter. I've tried searching on Google (a half fast search I'll admit) but learned I might need an active adapter for this purpose. Maybe someone can help me out with this question.

I didn't want to chance it as I heard a couple stories of people frying their keyboard by using this adapter. I just went ahead and purchased a USB keyboard.

Thanks for the head up!
BTW can you tell me what is the otg cable you're using?
None of those that I use with my phone work with Kindle Fire (for some silly reason).

This is one that is just like I use......works perfect http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005QX7KYU/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1358820160&sr=8-3&pi=SL75
It won't arrive for a little bit (1saleaday is slow to ship), so I figure I'll ask some questions in the meantime.
Does it support MHL 2.0? I've seen conflicting info, in that some places don't even mention MHL support. And if it's not 2.0, does it require that specific 11-pin Samsung adapter? Selling my HTC One and not sure if I should just include my current 5-pin adapter with it.
Does it work with the Smart Dock like the regular S4 and whatnot? Assuming it works with MHL 2.0, I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Smart Dock.
What kind of sound hardware does it have? I don't suppose its Wolfson...
Does it support exFAT for microSD? I've seen confirmation that it supports 64GB cards at least.
And any idea if it'll have a wireless charging back like for the S4? Don't know if it even supports wireless charging.
I've tried mhl 1.0 and 2.0. Both don't work. Also tried USB OTG also doesn't work.
I have a 64gb micro sd but I can't remember how it's formatted. But definitely works.

Well crap, I was banking on at least regular MHL - are you sure its not the cable you're using (as in, it requires the Samsung specific 11-pin cable)? If not, then I guess GSMarena is wrong (wouldn't be the first time).
I've tried both a cheap one from ebay and the samsung geniune one which works with my normal Galaxy S4 without using the power cable......both cable works on my normal GS4 but it doesn't work on my MIni GS4....i've also tried with or without the power cable attached and still doesn't work.

only the samsung hdmi adapter works with the GS4 mini due to a specific protocol since it is not HML enabled. I know... it sucks, but it has other ways to connect to a TV

samsung smart TVs have this almost-like "wifi-direct" connection and you can mirror through wifi the phone's display. like sony has with their phones&TVs. you need to be connected to the same wifi... that's it
