[Q] HTC Wildfire burnt odor from battery? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I work with charger plugged in. The phone gets very hot. If I remove the battery, there is a faint burnt like odor. Is this normal? I bought HTC Wildfire about 6 months ago. It has shown no problem!

I get this when it overheats on charge and my battery seems to be ok. If your worried take the back off when charging it will let cold air onto the battery.

Re: My PDA2K Died
Rip:
Was working like a champ had to replace the battery about 3 weeks ago and then today about mid day it died no apparrent reason.
I went to turn the display o to get some information like I did how many times since October of 2004 and that was it.
I tried to charge it and the only thing happens that the yellow light is now the Color Red and it charges and does not turn on.
Has anyone ever had this happen?
I should get it fixed I wonder what it would cost? I'm in the USA and where would I send it? I sent Pocket PC Techs an Email and they never responded, I guess these guys don't want fix it.
I had a similar problem once where the phone was on charge the red light would stay on for a long time, then the phone would boot up for a second before going back to red.
I thought it was the battery so I brought a new extended one, that worked. But when I put the old battery on charge through the O2 XDA IIs cradle NOT phone. The battery sprang back to life. In fact I am still using the OLD battery
It seems the phone acts all weird when the batteries get severely drained, I'd try charging the battery on the cradle through the mains adapter without the phone, then put it in the phone with the mains adapter plugged in.
Or it may be caused by bad battery

Help! Tilt 2 Battery

Hi, I accidentally drop my tilt 2 on the ground. So the battery just went out and fall on the snow. After i wiped out water on both battery and the phone, I plug in the battery, turn on my phone.
before I dropped the phone, there should be like 70% if battery. However, I only got 1% of the battery at that time.
When I try to charge it use wall charger, the phone says it can't charge the phone. I should use the designed battery from manufacture. However, the battery i'm using is the one just come with the phone!
then I tried to restart the phone to see if that would help, then My phone can't start anymore. the best situation is it will display the AT&T logo with like radio version, etc those information, and then turned into black screen.
For most of the time, it just doesn't respond.
What can I do? If I buy a new battery on ebay or somewhere, will that help?
Thanks a lot

Evo won't turn on|Rooted|No LED indicator.

I was internet browsing on MikG's Sense 2.1+3.0 rom, and suddenly, my phone just shuts off. So I pull off my protective case, then the back cover, thinking it was just overheated. It was warm, but not to the point where the fail safe kicks in and automatically shuts off the phone.
I've tried every fix that I could find, and nothing. I got it to turn on for a second maybe one or two times, and that's it. I have it plugged into my computer thinking maybe it's just really drained, even though I had a 90% charge. I don't think I have any other batteries to test it with (There's only my Evo, a Samsung Moment, and a LG Lotus Elite II).
So, any ideas?
Also, I bought this phone from Wirefly. Not sure if that really matters in the case of needing repairs or not.
My first guess is battery.
I ordered a new OEM one off Amazon. Hopefully it gets here before I leave for my trip.
Pull the battery and just plug into the wall. This would by pass the battery. Could have a bad charge port. Had that happen to mine. If all else fails smash it against a brick and say u fell on it to get a replacement

I tried pulling the battery and bypassing the battery entirely, but it didn't work.
Last night at about 12:30 in the morning, I plugged it into the wall, and fell asleep. A few minutes later I was woken up by the boot animation, and the phone is back on and working as normal again.
I'm still having the OEM battery shipped to me, just in case it is the battery, even the though the phone hasn't shut off once since then.

I had a similar issue with my old Touch Pro 2, It was the battery. Just food for thought.
So far the battery has held since the first incident. Won't have the new one till late next week probably.

USB charging doesn't always keep up with the phone. It only charges at .5a max. Use the wall charger to get the full 1a charge.

[Q] Battery replacement woes

I replaced the battery on my 2014 but now I'm getting a red x when I plug it into the supplied Samsung charger. It is getting a charge but I would say it's a trickle. I had it plugged in overnight and it went from 50% to 90% in 7 hours.
Thinking it's the replacement battery I put in the original one but have the same results.
Any ideas if something might have been damaged during the replacement?
No matter what I do I cannot get my tablet to do more than a trickle charge. I've replaced the charging port flex cable and that doesn't change having the red x in the battery icon and taking forever to charge.
NO EXPERT here when it comes to this. I just replaced mine.. got it off Ebay cheap.. so thought I would stick it in. Works great.
If it was ME.. I would go back and unplug and replug it back in..
Yeah I unplugged it, put the original battery in, replaced the cable. I'm thinking something must have gotten damaged on the main board. It works but takes forever to charge and I can't connect to my computer so it could be worse.

M8 Not Charging Properly

Hey guys,
My HTC One M8 stopped charging normally a few weeks ago. I had it plugged in to charge one night, and suddenly I started to smell burning plastic, and the bottom of my phone was very warm. Sure enough, when I unplugged the charger it was all discolored and the metal part was scalding hot. Obviously my first suspicion was my charger, so I stopped using it and tried several others, and that's where my charging troubles started.
Now whenever I have it plugged in (no matter what charger I use), it says it's charging (i.e. the orange LED light is on and the battery icon in the status bar has the charging animation), but it will either not charge at all and actually lose percentage, or it will charge VERY slowly...as in 1% per 10-15 minutes. I'll plug it in before bed and when I wake up, it will have only charged 30-40%.
So obviously the charger isn't the problem, it's either the charging port or the battery itself. I doubt it's the battery though, because once the phone is unplugged and I'm using it during the day, the battery life is fine and there are no issues. I'm almost certain it's the port, so I'm probably going to open my phone up and try to replace it...but I want some opinions first. Does this sound like a charging port issue or a battery issue? I want to make sure before I go trying to replace parts
No clue, you answered the questions yourself already.
Good luck in getting it fixed !
