Hello!
Before I get to the main point of my post I'll give you guys some background info on my situation. I have a Samsung Seek with Boost Mobile that I used as a donor to get my EVO 4G on Boost. I can make/receive calls as well as SMS but still do not have 3G/MMS. I know that to get mobile internet to work I need to get the HA/AAA passwords from my donor (Seek) and put them into the EVO. Now here is my problem-
I can't get the SPC/MSL from my donor. I've tried using CDMA WS 2.7 as well as 3.8, BitPim, UniCDMA and still cannot get it. When I try using CDMA WS 3.8 to try to read the SPC, I get an error saying "Phone ask for SPC. SPC (6 digits) required." I haven't had any luck with other programs either.
I can try calling Boost and asking them for my MSL but what good reason could I give them so they actually cooperate? I can't really say my phone is malfunctioning since I have to call from my Seek since I have no other phone for them to walk me through servicing the Seek to get the MSL.
Any ideas? I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks in advance,
Rick
*****EDIT
Forgot to add that I have the drivers for the Seek and it is listed in DM under COM6.
SOLVED!!!
I apologize for bumping my thread with this reply but I was finally able to get my MSL.
I called Boost (1-877-855-6673 then press 88. You'll be asked for a dealer number but just say you found the number online and dialed it, they'll still help you.) and told the CS rep I develop apps for phones and was in need of the MSL. He gave it to me right away, no hassles or questions asked!
Thank you for the views! Have a great weekend! I'll be around and hopefully continue to contribute to the community!
I haven't tried this with the Seek, but I've used adb and anycut to find the passwords on a Samsung Intercept. Just root the phone and install Anycut from the app store. Hook the phone up to your computer, have adb ready. In your terminal type "adb shell getprop ril.MSL" and it'll give you the SPC/MSL. Then on the phone, create an Anycut shortcut on the desktop (press and hold on the home screen) and select Data (it'll be the second Data, there will be lots of them). Then tap the shortcut. It'll ask for your SPC, enter it and tap Data Profile. Then on your computer type "adb logcat". Your phone's console logs will start filling the screen. Back on your phone tap Username, then cancel and don't save any changes. Press Ctrl + C on your computer to stop logcat. Your ha and aaa shared passwords will be in there, look for them!
I realize you're good, but just in case anyone else needs their passwords, I know googling this stuff is a pain in the ass. I first got this from here - http :// www .groovypost .com/howto/epic-4g-on-virgin-mobile/ (remove spaces, I don't post much )

EDIT: for a quick answer on how to get data working go to post # 222 of this thread!
Hey Guys,
I have been following the thread about the Evo 4G working on boostmobile. I hope someone would be able to help me, I am a bit stuck. First off, I won't bother anyone with any "n00b-ness", as I do know how to use google to find my own information. Here's where I am right now:
I have a "new" EVO 4G that had its MEID marked bad because the previous owner did not pay ETF to sprint. I also had a BlackBerry tour that I managed to connect with BoostMobile using a bit of social engineering (insisting to the relatively naive CSR that it's NOT a blackberry, as its MEID would indicate). I went through all the QXDM and Hexeditor fun to zero out the ESN, and finally the elusive MEID. **I will not mention what I did next, please use your imagination. I do not want to cause any trouble on the forum for talking about (you know what). I then switched the BlackBerry tour into GSM mode, to prevent it from causing a conflict, but at the same time to allow the phone to power up so I could continue to retrieve data or settings off it. Once I changed the programming info (MDN/MSID), I was able to make and receive calls. SMS worked inbound and outbound. Then, I changed the MMS url to mm_myboostmobile_com. Now I was able to send and receive MMS messages. After rooting my Froyo 2.2, I installed the 2.1 EPST app to be able to update PRL via ##775# / ##PRL#. Now, I have been trying various different PRL files from different forums as well as corolada_com. I also copied NV items 465, 466, 1192, and 1194 from my BlackBerry. I still cannot get data working, not EVDO, not even 1x. I would be most grateful to anyone who will contribute to this thread in a positive, constructive way. And if you're a Python, C# .NET, Perl, or Java programmer, or an SQL Server admin, I would gladly share the plethora of information I have in these areas with you. Thank You.
Ok, I have data working now. In the spirit of giving back to the community, here is what I did: I connected to the phone using Qualcomm QPST Service Programming, clicked Read and entered my MSL/SPC code. Then, under the M.IP tab, (you will only have this tab in a more recent build of QPST, I had to upgrade to build 348) I selected "profile 0" and clicked edit. Here, I unchecked the first checkbox which enables the profile. I wrote the changes to the device, and data began working. My rate is very pathetic, 100-200kbps. With previous device (blackberry tour 9630) this was over 5x faster. Maybe I am not getting EVDO? I will try several different PRL files and report results. I also heard that the HA and AAA secrets, stored in NV items 1192 and 1194 must be copied to authenticate for EVDO speeds. I am having trouble reading these from the (previous device) blackberry, particularly 1192. The resulting read in CDMA workshop produces an access denied error in the output file. QPST and QXDM don't even show these items in the nv items list at all, even if you click "File menu> read supported RF NV Items". All other items seem to show, but not these. Of course, you must send the MSL/SPC code before you attempt any nv item reading or writing. Has anyone else managed to transfer their boostmobile-specific HA secret and AAA shared secret from a blackberry onto an android device? What transfer rates are other boostmobile users getting on android devices in large metropolitan areas? (i'm in nyc).. I have heard some far-fetched solutions including "change your SPC to the old phone's SPC", is there any truth to this? Sorry if my thoughts are a bit disorganized. I will try to write a proper tutorial when I have time. Again, thanks to everyone that contributed to make my google searching a success, in this forum as well as others. Please feel free to put in your .02 as maybe I have overlooked something.
The only thing I can offer is on the tour. You don't need GSM mode to have it on. Simply turn off the radio.
I had the same issue or rather kind of similar. I am getting an Error (NV_READONLY_S) in QPST while trying to write to the EVO. Any help on why its doing that? I have surpassed the meid/pesn zero thingy and txt talk just as you have but to get data wkng proves to be difficult. Please advise.
unique, the problem with BB OS 5.0 and higher is that after a dead battery shutdown, it has the mobile network enabled on initial boot. Bosstalk, the NV_READONLY_S error can be ignored, the changes will stick anyway. What phone are you switching from? Did you try disabling the 0 profile under M.IP tab in QPST? Which PRL are you using?
uniquenameevo,
Do u have any assistance you could offer? I have been searching like crazy and its killing me.

True, my 9700 does this also. I did not know about the dead battery shutdown on yours
I am switching from an htc tp2 to an evo.
Firstly, When I do the requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof in QXDM I get the ha shared hex passwd but all zeros for the AAA shared hex passwd. Isnt it suppose to be a combo of letters and numbers? Please advise.
Talk and Txt EVO but no Data
Can someone please lend a helping hand here. I am up to my wits with this one. Ive got txt and talk working on boost but somehow cannot get data.
(Error code 67)
My donor phone: HTC TP2 with boost
Evo: Rooted(unrevoked 3.2) with 2.2 Froyo update
Installed EPST.apk using Root explorer.
PRL used is 60660
Things Ive done so far:
1.Used QPST to match NV Items 465,466,1192 and 1194 from donor to evo using NV browser.
2. Used Qpst in the Mip tab and matched settings of the donor with the Evo
The only rough end that may be prohibiting my access is the fact that I cannot get an accurate AAA shared reading. I followed the SPC "msl" thingy then did the requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof command that gave me good ha shared numbers after the 0x. However the AAA yield 0x00 all the way thru. Im not getting a long string of characters as others have gotten. Please advise!!! I would greatly appreciate it.
I am at the same point.
I think the HA is "secret" in plaintext
the AAA I managed to get was very long and qpst service programming app refused to accept any key in hex over 32 chars. I believe the one I have is 64 chars.
Do I have to send 'mode offline-d' if the radio is disabled anyway?
If anyone knows a way around this please advise.
Donor phone is BlackBerry Tour 9630
Target phone is HTC Evo 4G with 2.2 Froyo rooted

I am in the same boat as this guy, but have read and got to the point of making calls, txt, and mms. I just need data!!! I am so close...so close. CDMA WS will not read the c290. I get that it fails to answer. I used BITPIM to get the NVM settings of the c290, but I need to know how to take the key information to place into the EVO. Error 67 is driving me nuts!!!
Please someone help with getting data on my boost evo. I have managed to get talk and text working but cannot get data. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I have read several forums and none of those methods are working for me.
Thanks in advance.

For profile 0 aaa password you need to send this:
requestnvitemread hdr_an_auth_passwd_long
Good luck.
i have a tp2 on a cdma account.
what i did is use a cdma info from a NON activated boost phone. (use you imagination) no more detail on that.
once i was done i simple activated the phone and it activated and downloaded the ha and aaa.
let me know if this works as i am trying to get this to work
For ##DATA# is ##3282# and to pull the hex value use QXDM (you can find it on the net) and you will need QPST for the port server. In QXDM on most phones you send the MSL of the phone then request to read the password:
spc (your 6 digit msl)
requestnvitemread hdr_an_auth_passwd_long
On some phones you can get it with:
requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof
And to get the dial-up 6-digit AAA password of profile 1 just add a 1 at the end:
requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof 1
Ok I finally got my data icon to show up and my 1x data to work and the way I did it is I got my 6 digit AAA password from the donor rant phone straight from the device itself than I entered under profile 0 and profile 1 in my epic in QPST service programming secret as my ha user name and the 6 character password with text string selected. I used the same user name and password for both profiles because its the only way I get any data. But I can only get 1x. I tried changing primary & secondary servers but makes no difference. Any ideas why Im not getting 3g?
edit: n/m i figured it out

If your donor is 1x that's all you're getting. And you don't use the same password. Provisioning is 16 hexadecimal digits and your account password is 6
Both use HA password "secret" (without quotes, of course)

Ok I finally got it working on 3g the thing is my donor is a rant and is very difficult to extract the 16 hex from it. Everything is working now but my voicemail doesnt notify me of new ones.
Flashing Samsung Fascinate To Cricket!!!!
ok so this is the one phone that has made me wanna punch my screen since i got it. amazing phone but hell an a half an very difficult to flash. OK so to start there are programs out there u can purchase to flash this phone if u wanna pay 100 dollars or 65 at a shop. but well im cheap so i set hours on end figuring what i could out. this tutorial will get u talk, text, 3g, internet an ability to send mms (to recieve has been difficult because there is a lock code to get to those features that ive been unable to find out)...
WHAT YOU WILL NEED!!!
QPST. 2.7 build 323 an build 215.
a Samsung fascinate.
PATIENCE!!
samsung fascinate drivers
and samsung epic drivers
first you will want to turn on usb debug mode, stay awake while plugged in, mock location(applications /developer menu). o an dial up mode(in wireless settings). install all the drivers before plugging phone in. after that plug in the phone. now as always you will want this phone on COM PORT 1. . (if u dont know how to do this u have to get to control panel then systems then hardware tab then select device manager. from there go to ports right click the samsung. then port settings tab then advanced. there will be a number toward the middle bottom set it as com port 1 then ok ok ok ok untill ur back to device manager then exit device manager) open qpst system programming. phone should show if not go to qpst config an set it up.
now in qpst system programming u will select the phone an it will ask for the spc. it is six 0's (ZERO's). then select read phone . now go to the roam tab. then u will see a prefered roaming box click the browse button an select the prl you wish to use. (nationwide 3g prl is best i use 42800 which is for the zio) now write to phone it will restart.. from here after the phone restarts open up qpst again an go thru the first process except do not go to the roam option. click the cdma tab an select nam1 if not already selected(ONLY nam1 NOT nam2 if u r dumb enough to mess with nam2 i am not responsible for the outcome )in nam 1 select set to default. now go to m.ip an delete all entrys. click write to phone it will again restart..
ps after you load the prl to the phone do a factory reset to clear out a few of the system logs to help everything go thru smooth
FUN TIME!!!! after phone reboots click the dialer menu (if its asking to program push the power button as if u r turning it off then select airplane mode. then restart the phone while in airplane mode(trick to get around that pesky activation menu).now after that boot select the dialer an enter *#83786633 an press home. got back to dialer an delete whatever is in it. if nothing ok now enter *#22745927 it will then ask for the spc code it is six 0's (ZERO's). now select to enable hidden menu. from there accept an what not if it ask an get to the home screen after hidden menu is enabled.
now again enter dialer make sure its clear an press **772 it will again ask for spc it is all six 0's (ZERO's) 000000. now from there it will show a service programming menu. press down slowly till u reach nam1 CDMA directory number. this will be your number click touch here u enter your number (for example 937-000-0000) now after that press enter then the back softkey to exit keyboard then press the down button this will bring u to a screen where u can enter your min(if u do not know it call cricket an ask them to bring it up for u. easier to call a local store an get this info. after u enter it press the back softkey u should be on cdma home sid. u will need to know your sid or find it out (google is your friend an so is your cricket store employee's) . enter it then press enter an exit the keyboard an when u see the exit screen hit ok. phone will reboot.
now u will have to of course have your phone activated to go any further so u know that process. (ps u can also activate it after u get the prl on it but until u do the hidden menu process it wont be active)
u now have text an calling but here comes the advanced user portion lol.
GETTING 3G
u will need to get the backup restore apn app from the market place its free. (email me an i can send u a copy).
u will need to install it an then backup apn. it will save to your sd card. plug it in to the computer an copy it to ur pc.
open the file in notepad as administrator the file will have all verizon settings change them to cricket. here is an example of mine after i changed it to cricket
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes' ?>
<apns count="1">
<apn name="Cricket" numeric="310012" mcc="310" mnc="012" apn="internet" user="[email protected] " server="*" password="cricket" proxy="null" port="null" mmsproxy="null" mmsport="8080" mmsprotocol="null" mmsc="http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms?x-cricket-mdn=937_000_0000" type="null" />
</apns>
where the phone numbers are those will all need to be your number. an my mnc is 012 yours may be different but thats an ideal of the settings that u need to change. next u will save that file an place it on your memory card over the original file (overwrite the one on your sd card). after that access the apn backup app an delete all apns(DO NOT DELETE THE BACKUPS U NEED THEM!!!!!)now click restore apn it will ask which one an restore the one u just modified). now here is the funnest part but if done right u will have 3g......
first u will need to use qpst to setup your m.ip settings. u must use qpst 2.7 build 323. u will change your settings to cricket settings. . i can not completely remember the steps but u can google them on this part but make sure u click ur profile an change your numbers to @mycricket.com instead of the verizon settings. after that change both the ha and aaa passwords to cricket an set the home address to 0.0.0.0 then set the primary home address to 68.28.15.12 an then set second home to 68.28.31.12. after this write to phone after restart unistall qpst.
now u will install qpst 2.7 build 215. an go thru nearly the same process but in the ppp config menu. in here u will change your numbers emails to @mycricket.com in the UM and AN tabs an set the passwords to cricket. make sure in the um u change the tethered nai number to your number @mycricket.com. then write to phone an after restart turn off dial up mode an WALA flashed your fascinate.
ALSO ON A SIDE NOTE TO FURTHER EMPHASIZE THIS when u get the phone activated be sure to tell them its a zio *wink wink* so it will register in the system as a zio which will help more after u get 3g up an running. an all features only work on the 55 dollar plan
SORRY IF I GET A LITTLE SLURRY TOWARD THE END IM HUNGRY AN NEED A NAP LMAO
PS MMS WILL WORK IF THE APN IS DONE CORRECTLY AS SHOWN ABOVE!! MINE IS OFFICIALLY WORKING SOLIDLY (INGOING AN OUTGOING)
help
Hi, I was wondering if you were ever able to get MMS to work. I took my phone to the store to get it flashed and I was so upset afterwords. They flashed it however my MMS does not work. I can not send any messages out and I can get them in only from certain people. I have had several people try to send me messages and I was able to get them in from a few. Please help if you can..
for some reason cricket did some updates to their midwest region an now occasionally you wont receive mms from t-mobile or verizon customers an random other carriers if the picture crosses the maximum image size criteria. its odd. i just have em send the mms to my google mail. i recieve 98 percent of my mms tho using handsent mms so download it from the market place
works perfectly
Ok so Im gonna start by apologizing for bringing up an old thread and stating that I am not a noob in the flashing game just been a long time observer but I can vouche that this works for flashing to boost mobile. Only issue is getting vm to work but as far as 3g and data thats a different story, its hell I onlly have 1x speeds with data as we speak.
BTW mms lock code is 500667 but be very careful as you can get locked out after many times of messing with it and fixing will make you want to smash the phone into a millions pieces. I can vouche for it personally. Now my advice is if you see anything verizon in there that is why your mms is not working do not edit it in there as it will just revert back to original after reboot. You have to complete debrand the phone in order to get these settings to stick and fix the mms lock out after many stupid attempts. GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND ON HOW TO DEBRAND!
Hope my first post helps out someone.

I stumbled upon this thread by a google search.. what a weird concept
Thought I'd contribute, I Don't know if it's been pointed out anywhere else yet- Samsung has been tricky with this for quite a long time. This specifically brings to mind my SCH-a870. The MMS lock code on Samsungs is typically 6 digits, the first three are the model number of the phone, the last three spell out MMS on a phone keypad. In this case, it would be 500667.
Good luck & happy hacking!
Now from what I am hearing is that you have to physically bring in a flashed cricket phone to a cricket store to have it activated. Cricket do not enter flashed phones esn information over the phone. Now does anyone know any other method of getting the phone activated besides going into a cricket store or sending your phone via snail mail to a remote person?
And someone mentioned boost mobile. Boot act funny towards adding non-boost mobile phones to their databases, so how are you people doing that?
I have a Fascinate on 2.2.1 There is no Dial up option & teather doesn't connect right... NE idea how 2 connect?

Hey there! Sorry to bring up an old post, but I have a question regarding this flashing business. I'm set up on Cricket's $35/month talk and text only plan and I had them flash my Fascinate to talk and text only since I don't want/use data (only wifi). I want to start messing around with the phone, but I'm afraid of losing the talk&text only flash. Should this happen will this guide allow me to flash to only talk and text with some modification? (I would LIKE MMS but there is supposedly no supporting plan for smartphones without data...)

The $35 plan does not support MMS. Only the $45 dollar plan and the smartphone plans support it. Although if you set your account up with AutoBillPay you save $5/month. You will need the phone to be fully flashed in order to support it.

Hey everyone i need your help.
so i bought an htc evo 4g from craigslist already flashed to boost mobile the phone worked fine on the guy who i bought it from he gave me his boostmobile account info to transfer his phone to my acc. so i got home with the phone i transfered his account info to my boost account and now i cant get calls or anything no interenet nothing!! i look at the phone identity and it still has his number under it i called boost and they walked me through a procedure even did ##(some numbers)# to bring up a screen to put in my new number i did tht ut still nothing. it shows his number still in the phone identity im lost please help i spent 170$ and i want my phone to work some1 help me
do you know your Evo's MSL or SPC? If so, try pushing ##123456# (123456 should be your MSL) then on the pop up menu that comes up select "Edit Mode" then you need to change your MDN to your new number and you need to change the MSID to the new one too. If you already talked to Boost then hopefully you wrote these 2 numbers down. If not, call them again and tell them you switched numbers/phones and need to re-enter that info. Just tell them you need the new MDN and MSID so you do not have to sit and have them try and walk you through steps to that are not for the Evo. DO NOT tell them it is an Evo obviously. If you do not know your Evo's MSL then it is pretty easy to get through CDMA WS, pm me and I can help you with that part if necessary. Hope this helps, if you need anything else feel free to ask!
*If I have helped, please take a second to hit my thank you button*
thanks man now i need help with the internet its not working and i have no idea wat to do
Push ##33284# then select EVDO Engineering. Scroll all the way to the bottom an tell me what it says next to AN/AAA
Did you try going to settings, system updates, update profile yet? Also it can take up to 48 hours for everything to work IF it says 1- authenticated after AN/AAA
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
it says to 2=failed authentication
ive also tried up dating profile it would let me
If it says authentication failed then your AAA and HA keys are wrong. Did you get the donor phone from the guy you bought the Evo from???? If you did then it will be pretty simple to pull the correct AAA and HA keys from it.
If you do not have the donor, you might try ##786#, then hit menu then hit reset. Be warned, it will reset everything back to factory so make sure you back up anything worth saving first. When the phone resets itself, it will try to perform an OTA activation. I am wanting to say it should provision the AAA keys on its own after that (If I am wrong on this part, please feel free to step in and correct me guys)
what do i need to save to be backed up and i dont have doner phone
Dont think you can do that, tell you what I did. I bought an Evo also off ebay fixed the glass and found someone to flash it to boost. after 2 months with phone the 3g went out, tried to get help from flasher but no go, I found a guide myself and started testing, first flash success, so wanted to reflash my phone and only way to get it done was to buy a donor phone, attach it to your boost account, hook it up pull the info, reflash EVO and all done. You cant just take a phone and move it to your account, wont work.
You should have just left it the way it was, now you'll need to get a donor phone and start over, I did and doing fine now.
If you need help let me know.
Yep, I agree. If you do not have the donor, I would suggest buying a new one. Even if you do manage to fix data this time, you will have more problems later. The fact that you did not get the donor might mean the Guy is activating more than one evo with it and that means you might start getting the error 16 in the future. I have always given the donor back to the person I flashed for because I do not need it and more importantly I have no legitimate reason for keeping it.

Would this be the same steps if i call Boost and change my old number, im giving my EVO to my daughter but she doesnt want my number.
It will be the same steps as to changing the numbers in the setting once i enter the MLS???
I have been searching for a way to get my SPC code and have had no luck, I remember back in the vibrant days, it was as easy as an app, I have found tools that will pull it from cdma phones, but our s4 don't count. if anyone can point me in a direction to either pull the SPC or MSL for our s4 it would be appreciated, I am a beginner dev and trying to keep up, Thanks
Hmmmm Msl codes are only for CDMA phones this would include only the Sprint Variant .... Not the T-mobile or Att Verison.
How ? Pay for it there are plenty of sites that get it for you for $2 dollars or less...
But if your talking about Network unlocking the phone ... go to T-mobile or any phone shop with a skilled tech he will unlock it ....
specifically I need the spc code but they are seeming used interchangeably where all searches take you, that's why I included it with my post... its for tinkering with more advanced settings myself,
Its like 2-5 dollars to get it calculated ..

Its simple, go to the play store and download get my msl. Then go to the dialer of the phone, type ##data# and click edit, where it asks for the spc, put six 0's. Only do this once or your phone will restart, It will tell you the code is incorrect. Now go back to "Get My MSL" and click view MSL, profit!
if someone could message me with help it'd be appreciated, at cdma workshop when i try to write the nv 466-1194 the text files say access denied, i have no clue what to do , someone please message me with advice.
use cdmatool.com/demo for this or if ur just using cdma 3.9 paid just read and write the evdo settings
i got it
a little late but thanks for the info. What i had to do was use the open sesame door trick and manually add the items by right clicking in the QPST editor and adding the nv items from pc 1 at a time, not sure if i even had to do that, but then i already had the password so in qpst service programmer i just used the passwords i found when i wrot emy profile to the phone.

good job. I also used open sesame door on my evo 4g.
I used an Incognito back when I Boosted my EVO. Took me a little bit but I got it to work in the end. Glad you figured it out.
