[Q] WiFi HotSpot in the 14 Toggle QuickPanel? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So I have been searching around and have not seen anyone put WiFi tether/hotspot in the quick panel of our t989 roms and was wondering if it could be done?
It seems like a lot of the devs are putting this great mod in their roms, but none have a hotspot toggle. I have searched over on lidroid post on adding them to the system with little luck http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289896&highlight=tether&page=46 and I use the quick-panel settings app on my device, but like I said no luck.
I am comfortable flashing and installing push/pull with adb can run logcats and don't mind testing anything so I would be happy to be a guinea pig for someone, I just dont have the faintest idea on actually coding anything.
Or maybe I just cant search very well. If anyone has any ideas. let me know. Thanks

U mean lidroid, right?
I was thinkin bout this 2 but didn't think it'd b much use considering u can get extended controls n put a toggle on ur home.. lemme take a look at it ina lil bit probly can't do much but worth a shot

Yeah it lindroid. The link to his i9100 info is in the op.
Thanks that would be awesome. I use a toggle I found on the market and it definately works but if I can clean up my screens some it would be gr8

[REQ] Port of WhiteMochi to Froyo/ACS.

My first post...been lurking around for a while.
I feel like this would probably be pretty simple for someone who knew more about what to do.
I tried flashing the zip, then tried using reframe.sh (through android terminal emulator) to reboot into just the framework, then tried editing the framework-res.apk by adding files and moving files to match other Froyo framework-res.apk files...but all of those things failed.
I didn't really anticipate my actions would have the desired effect, but I was trying.
I don't know what would have to be done. If it's simple and someone would be willing to update this for Froyo, I'd appreciate it. I think some others would as well.
In addition, if anyone could point me in the direction of some learning material for this kind of stuff, not just how to theme but also maybe some development guides for beginners, I would appreciate that as well.
Then I could just do this type of thing myself in the future.
Here's the link to an xda thread with WhiteMochi v0.003: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843204
Thanks in advance.
Think alot of themers on the Epic prolly got their start here using Dream's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821638
Good luck man!
I'll do it.
Do you want the clear notication bar or the solid one?
I would like the solid one, if you could. Thanks a ton.
And thanks to both of you. Definitely gonna check out that guide.

Haha I didn't. But a good guide never hurts.
Do you want the lockmod installed along side?
What exactly do you mean by the lockmod?
My current rom uses the AOSP lockscreen by default so it shouldn't be an issue, right?

I meant maddoggins lockmod for EC05. It includes 6 different locks.
Oh, no. I tried to install it but was having issues getting it to work.
The one straight from the lockmod thread didn't work (FC when trying to view Lockscreen Settings), I found a working version in the framework included with the Nebula rom/theme but didn't like the status bar.
I was under the impression the WhiteMochi just used the AOSP, or were you asking for another reason?

Haha I can make you a version of nebula with a different colored notification bar if you'd like.
I'm sure it uses the AOSP lock. I was just asking if you wanted me to implement the 6 lock.
If you could get the 6lock in with the Mochi that'd be sweet, but it's not necessary for me.
Would be a huge plus though, hahah.
Still looking for anyone willing to possibly port this over to Froyo/SRF.
I'm mainly just looking for a white status bar without a gaudy notification pulldown and attractive icons.
I tried FrostPort v1.2 but personally disliked the status bar icons (all of them).
I noticed that the Galaxy Prevail (the new prepaid Boost Android phone) has a nice white framework, so even a port of that would be killer.
I read up on theming and I have a basic understanding of what to do, it doesn't seem overly difficult. Only issue with me is that I work 5-6 days a week long hours so I don't always have time to devote to studying up/getting in practice...especially as of late.
I have two days off coming up which I'll most likely wind up devoting the bulk of to learning how to theme (devoted my last two days off to my phone as well...don't know how to feel about that).
In the meantime, however...once again...if anyone is up to the task, have at it. I would appreciate it, and I know others would too.
I'd like to see this theme... Where can I see screen shots of the original theme? I have no knowledge of Android Theming or anything. But if there's a pretty good guide, and by pretty good I mean something that will SHOW me how to do it, then I could give it a try. But I'm more visual so a walk through that's text only won't help.
This seems like its AOSP straight to the bone seriously just use the AOSP ROM, whats honestly different?
When trying to flash it via Clockwork it says "Amend script was disabled in this version" or some such thing, and then says "Installation Aborted".
Using reframe.sh causes the phone to not boot (sticks on boot anim).

[REQ] step's to change a Notification bar quick toggle

I would like some insight on how I would go about changing one of the button's on the pulldown bar. I wanna change the Bluetooth to a 3G toggle.

Mystery or one of the other devs already explained that it is just too much work to modify it. Wait for Cyanogenmod if you want the feature badly.
Well,
Think it's better to bump this thread rather than writing a new one...
I'm looking for the same thing and many Samsung users seem to have the same questions. In my country I have no WiMAX, so I want to change the button so it toggles data completely.
If someone had at least a clue where this is configured, I would be glad to take a look into my rooted Epic and see if I can do it at least manually, would be the first step.
Really? Cause Maddoggin is working on it and apparently has it just about finished for his gingerbread mod. A lot of work? Maybe. Too much work? Guess that depends how much you want it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
It's suppose to be almost the same work as porting the puzzle lock.If anyone can we know Maddaggin will and could.
Well,
As far as I had checked the posts, I had no clue of someone doing it already. I see two parts that can be time consuming: finding what to change and getting proper icons so it looks seamless.
I will be checking out more often to see if there's a solution. I just don't need the 4G toggle at all, so it's much better if I can replace it with something else...

CM-10 nav bar without root?

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a way to get the cm-10 nav bar without having to root.
I've tried just about every launcher out there and none of them have that
Option. On my SG2 I run liquid smooth ROM and its in there and basically
Let's me program it any config option of the nav bar. I want this on my note2 but
Without having to root as I need to keep WiFi calling and other reasons.
Anyone have ideas how to get this working .
Thx

Wow.
1) root does not effect wifi calling
2) no way to get nav bar without root.
3) all those nav bar options are built in the rom, no rom has that here. Best you can do is add a line to your build.prop and get tbe regular nav bar like on stock nexus devices

Wow what?
Its not like we have kernal for CM-10 so there's no reason for me to root. If im going to root then its going to be for cm-10. All the other Roms look fine but dont offer enough for me root and flash even with most of them based off of tmobiles kernal. I just cant stand tw and None of the stock rooted roms have the nav bar. Been on cm since 6 days, one gets use to that after awhile.
I was just hoping there was a hack on a launcher that I might have missed. Nothing that deserves a "wow" from you.

Lol you do realize you can root with out flashing a ROM right? Like already stated you can root and add a line to your build prop to enable the stock nav bar, that's about as good as it gets right now.
Sigh,, yes I'm fully aware that
1) I can root and stay stock
2) I will keep my wifi calling if going this route
This wasnt what I asked. All I wanted to know was if there was a launcher out there that i missed that enabled the abilty to have the nav bar without having to root. Man I don't think I could have worded it any better. I just have no need to root until we have cm-10. Even the hack I posted in the other thread doesnt really give the option to customize the bar like I can with liquid. So unless a dev comes up with a way to do this before we have cm10 there's not much else to say
Since its not in a launcher.

Wait, let me understand you correctly. You want a feature that you had to use a rom to get before, but you dont want to root? Did you load a rom without rooting on your older phone? And wow... hows coming off like a jerk working out for you?

...I'm not exactly following either, but anyway can I get that navbar you were using before? Is it an app? or zip I can flash in recovery? I just bought my note 2 yesterday but am really missing my onscreen navbar from my Galaxy Nexus.
Look all i asked for was if there was a launcher that had this ability that I may have missed. Pretty simple right? instead I get a "smart ass wow" etc about rooting etc and wifi calling. It wasnt what I asked and I tried to make it even more clear that until we get a kernal with cm10 that for me its not worth rooting cause none of the current roms have the nav bar.
I already know how to root, I know what roms support wifi calling etc, and I know that just rooting my note2 isnt going to kill my wifi calling. None of This was what I was asking. And I didnt need a smart ass wow comment on such a simple question. New launcher updates come out all the time so I reached out to my fellow xda'ers to see if there was such a option that I missed. Instead I get talked down to like a little boy and that is most differently not going to fly.
Maybe if you were on my end of the sleeve you would understand.
I'm No dev thats for sure, its not my skill set but I have been flashing since the G1 and HD2 days. I help out the devs via giving them a free place to host their roms that are high traffic or a guy thats just starting out for free. Then donate fare amounts to the ones of the roms I use. This is the way I help out here because those are the resources I have at hand.
If I came into your thread that you asked a simple question and was like "Wow your a moron" you would get alittle left of center as well.

Ok ill break it down for you. The reason I said wow is your original post sounded like you were wanting everything, did no research, and wanted to have others give you what you wanted on a silver platter. You asked about not rooting due to "keep wifi calling and other" reasons. Basically you sounded like a noob who expects devs to do the impossible/incredibly difficulty (in this case launcher devs) while it is certanly possible to do similar to what you want (think button savior) it is not something that would work well without root due to android permissions for certain button actions. If you would tell us why you are afraid of rooting that might help us help you also, since you now claim its not because of wifi calling.
So for onscreen buttons check out button savior, not exactly what you want but it is onscreen buttons.

Lol at this thread. I dont know if you figured it out yet, but here's the skinny. Nav bar, or softkeys is an android os feature, not a launcher feature. As far as I know, there isn't a way to install cm10 without root (at least, it doesnt install without root). P.S. We may never see an official cm10 kernal for Note 2 beause the cm team says that the Note 2 sources are crap and that they are being properly supported, it would take them too long to sift through it all. Now there is a way to enable the softkeys on the original rom, but it requires root, and the softkeys suck compared to cm10's nav bar. I'm currently runng PAndroid (a cm10 based rom) with nav bar and hardware keys disabled. I hope that helps.
And casperi, it sounds like we both got into this scene at the same time. I started off with my G1 when it first came out, then moved on to the HD2 years later. The difference is that I searched for that question before opening a new thread. And not only in T-mo Note 2 forums, but AT&T and across google as well. There are now a few different threads for what you are looking for.
Reiterating what others have said, unless it's an "artificial" navbar that the launcher or an app creates, it won't work without root.
If/when you decide to root, that line of code you add to your build.prop is:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
I've added it to my TW rom (jedix8), cuz it's convenient on this big phone to have access to a back button on both sides.

How can I get circle on-screen also paranoid color changer can I extract it

I want that bad on-screen lock mod for circles not included in lock screen someone explain where our how to get if. Also it's possible add color dpi switcher from paranoid to my Rom by hand? Someone explain how to do it to me I'm on root box I don't mind doing it my self just need help

How to extract settings from other roms
Im just wondering is this possible. I run a custom rootbox rom. I just want to know can you "if you could"
Take Paranoid Android, or Pacmon or Paranoidkong or something pull out the settings for DPI and Color changing and add it to rootbox. Not for anyone else just for me. I don't want to run there rom I like rootbox..
What im really getting at is I want a custom rom for just my self and I want all the best stuff from everyones roms I won't give it away or sell it or trade it or start fires... not again... but I do really want the color and dpi settings from Paranoid android and thats all.. can anyone send me a link or explain to me simply how to start doing this or how to teach my self to do it. No smart ass remarks please I know its making my own rom but I dunno where to start searching brings up 100's of posts about roms I dunno man so if u know easy way to start doing this let me know please if don't mind helping me PM me please. I had long day work I could use something to get my mind off real life
Chef central might be a good place to start. It's a forum here on xda.
However, a lot of what you're asking for requires frameworks specific to certain ROMs. If you can figure out what you need to run the features you're looking for, then you should theoretically be able to cook them into a ROM. Most features of android may as well be an apk that can be run anywhere, but many things require resources to function.

How come sprint is the most bland carrier?

Ive had many sprint phone's however I've had 2 cell phone models that I've rooted ever since i found it about it. An lg g3
And the one I'm posting with right now: s6
Ive noticed that for both (moreso with samsung) there is never really interesting mods or any real rom selection etc . How come this is? What's up with sprint specifically that makes it so difficult to customize/modify their devices? Im not *****ing or anything is just an observation . For instance there are tons of roms that include a lot of things I'd like on my phone but they are all compatible with every carrier other than sprint. Anyway of anyone had an answer or a path to lead me to ... that'd be cool. Hell, you can call me a dickhead and ill be happy

For starters there isn't as many devs for Sprint phones as there is for other carriers. Further more, Sprint is CDMA so making unlock mods like we did for the G3 is far harder. Not to mention just developing for Samsung in General is harder as they have more Anti-Root protection then say LG or HTC. We are currently working as hard as possible to bring cool mods and tweaks to this device... Sorry for the wait though

Also, don't forget there are oodles of Xposed modules you can use. I personally believe that is the main reason there aren't many mods/ROMs. I personally stopped developing ROMs because of this. Instead, I debloat and smali edit my own device to my liking, then write my own module to add the features I like. Before, I used to do smali edits, and make everything relate to one another. So users could add their own features, or choose the ones I built in. Nowadays, you can just install and uninstall the xposed modules you want. A lot easier for us developers. I also think android in general is getting more user friendly. They now have "theme stores" for users to apply a theme without root. I'm not sure what kind of "mods" you would be looking for that isn't already done via xposed or something else, but theming always seemed to be the biggest hit. I personally just theme my launcher.
However, there are some features from the S6 Edge I would like to have, so I downloaded the S6 edge ROM and may port it to our device.
TLDR: To simply answer your concern, I don't think development isn't there. I think its just easier for people to use xposed then fully mod an entire ROM and make the installer zip and everything like that for it.

Ahh that makes sense I need to go back thru xposed more thoroughly and how would i go about creating a module? That seems like something i would be interested in. And as far as mods go , im the type that ,even though I'm impressed with what i have i haveban insatiable need to make it one click better ( similar to the custom marshall stacks in the movie spinal tap that the volume dial went up to 11 instead of the standard 10, lol idk if you seen the movie or not) but mainly id like to modify the camera to a higher resolution and possibly include the ability to leave the shutter open as long as i want , those are just a couple of mods i would love to have haha i know I'm asking for an impossibility but those are the kind of ideas i come up with i just have no clue how to create such madness haha

I too want better quality from the camera. I believe that is needed by a kernel mod, or a .SO mod. The latter of the two is harder. But I want better slow mo quality, should be able to adjust bitrate, and maybe hopefully fps. But having the shutter open as long as you want, I like that idea! I may see what I can do. You can easily make the volume go to 11 instead of 10, but you won't get a volume boost. What I personally do, is use the mixer_paths.xml to boost the volume, then add more volume steps. On my S5 I had 20 volume steps for everything, and it worked great. Allowed for more minute adjustments, but still get the volume boost from the mixer_paths.xml.
About creating an xposed module, just look it up on the forums. Plus there are YouTube guides which tell you step by step how to do it. You do need to know Java coding though. Its extremely easy to learn though.

And I personally think I am very good with xposed and smali reading. I used to make ALL my mods through smali alone. I even wrote a "smali coder" that would translate java into smali without compiling anything. That tool though has long since been lost as well as its source code since I don't use it anymore. I now use Virtous Ten Studio for smali work cause of being able to link condition statements and stuff. Its got flaws, but it works. I will probably end up writing my own that way it does everything I would like it too.

I shall let you know if I ever figure anything out, don't expect anything done by tomorrow, or in a few weeks though . Expect something, but not everything, in about a month or so.

We do, it's a CSC tweak, but you can only add tweaks like that if you freshly flash a ROM. If we have xposed, you can add it anytime without having to reinstall.
Come to think of it, could you do something like XTouchWiz?

I can. I have something very similar already do my own personal setup. But if you compile a list of things you'd like, I'm sure I could figure it out.

It does, I just like the tweaks in it, I think it'll be a good base then we can make a specialized tweak for this device.
