I just upgraded my battery in my G2 T989. Now standard cases won't fit. Do any of you guys have encountered this? If So, have you found any solutions? Please post any ideas you may have with pictures if possible.

If you find one let me know. I have an extended battery as well...
Will do! I can't believe that this is hard to find.
Im thinking of modding a case here in a bit. But will see

I actually modded a T-Mobile D30 case. It turned out Altot like those bumper cases apple came out with to cure their reception problem for the iPhone.
Oh really, how did that work out? I was thinking of getting a regular silicon case from ebay and cutting it. But if you can post pics and places to cut that would be great
Well it didn't turned out as great as i expected it would. It only protected the outer ring. When I get a chance I'll post a picture.
Qcell Extended battery
tupistol,
what is your opinion on Qcell 3650mAh extended battery? Did you test it?
Do you see big improvement comparing to stock battery?
Although I'm still testing, I went 8hrs under normal use without charging and had about 40% battery remaining... I switch bad and forth to stock to get a better comparison.
Here the T-Mobile D30 Case( convertible) as you can see the rear is cut out. This is kind of like a bumper case
Can someone post a pic of the battery and cover on the phone?
I hope these pics give u an idea of the size post 3650 mAh extended battery upgrade.
I had this battery and battery door and it sucked ass. Went back to stock
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
What does that mean? Did you stock battery(1850 mAh) out perform the extended life battery( 3650mAh)?
yes it does. I get a full day on the stock battery, and about 75% of the day on the extended. save your cash

Have you tried using NFC after putting in the Galaxy Nexus battery? Confirmed it's still working?
Just want to rule out that it has NFC but is somehow incompatible with the T989 NFC.

why not just use the Mugen 2000 mAh battery?
i only trust OEM batteries when it comes to Extended
besides 2000 - 1850 = 150 mAh gain, not really worth the upgrade
however 2100 - 1850 = 250 mAh gain, that is at least a decent quater pound over the original
it should at least give you another hour with 250 mAh
but 150 wont even last you 30min
according to the mAh consumption history of my phone, it averages around 213 to 555 mAh when in use, game or web surfing
iddle is 2 mAh

Here's why...
About the same price, OEM it is.
OEM Sammy has higher capacity, which is usually what they state. 3rd party batteries are generous with their numbers and tend to lie.
NFC
BWAHAHAHHA THIS THREAD MAKE ME LOL COMPARING OVER 100mAH LOL!!!
Is it worth having no rear cover? Imo, just carry a spare.

Agreed. OEM or not, it doesn't fit. I could rig a laptop battery up to my phone, that doesn't mean it's better. "but all you have to do is leave the battery door off and duct tape it to the back..." Um....no thanks. I don't care what kind of battery it is, if it doesn't fit, it's a waste of time.
Here's the extended Galaxy Nexus battery in my SGS2.
Can't tell you the battery life yet, gimme a day or two.
I'm not using the back cover, the Seidio Active takes care of it. Not a big deal since the case never comes off anyway.
peel off the label on the battery and take a Dremel to the back cover to make space. The case is thin, but a few thousands of an inch shouldnt hurt. you could possibly have the battery case down too if you're brave.
that case looks a touch heavy, how does it feel? whats the front look like?
thanks for posting the pics

i know our battery door is extremely flexible
i'm sure you can at least keep the better half of the batter door clicked in
while leaving only the bottom part un-hooked
and let the phone case do the rest of the job at keeping the batter in place

It seems to give about an hour more roughly. I did a little over 15hrs the other day (auto sync, BT, 4G, yadayada). I usually finish with about 14 normally.
YMMV, you may or may not see any difference.
If money is tight, don't buy it. I'm sure most people aren't going to go bonkers over that one hour.
Hey guys,
Just got the mugen extended battery in the mail. Their regular shipping somehow took longer than 3 weeks and I still have not received the item, so I asked them to reship using FedEx. Guess what, it took 2 days to get to Richmond Hill, Canada, which is just north of Toronto.
Anyways, just though I'd upload some high quality pics with measurements so if any of you guys are planning on buying it, you guys have a sense of how things ll look when you get it.
Feel free to update this with your own pictures.
Update 1: More pictures of battery on phone. Post #10
________________________________________________________________________________
After using this for some times, I believe I can give a rather full rounded review of this case
Make and Looks:
After looking at the pics below, it is definitely safe to conclude that if you cannot stand additional bulk to the galaxy nexus, this extended is definitely not a recommended, as it does double the thickness of the phone. Also, this battery is not for those who are seriously concious of the way their phones look, as this is, to be honest, not the best looking extended battery pack out there.
HOWEVER, if you are like me, and enjoy funtion over form, it would be my pleasure to say that this battery is definitely recommended. The back casing of the Mugen Power battery mimicks the back of the galaxy nexus to provide users with enough grip so as to reduce the slipperiness and possibilities of drops. Also, the battery which is rated at 4000mah does add some weight to the phone, which to me is a great addition as it just feels that the phone is more secure in my hands with the added weight. The battery, when installed on the phone, depicts the resemblence of a humpback whale, which not to say is ugly in anyway, it is simply Unique. The kickstand is a bit flimsy, but that is just an additional use of the new backing to watching movies and videos, so can't complain there.Lastly, the camera holes are perfectly cut out for the 5MP camera, it does not affect picture quality in anyway, but does take away from the original good looks of the phone.
Usage
To be honest, the GNEX isn't among the top performing android handsets in the battery department. Getting through a full day with my full usage has always been a problem, no matter what brightness setting I set. Battery times for me has always been 13-16 hours with 3-4 hours standby, and that is already after using franco kernel and aokp.
Now, with the Mugen Power battery, I can say this: I have a GMAXXXXXXXXXX. The battery after 3 - 5 charge cycles is AMAZING! Unlike other cheap extended batteries, I would say that mugen lived up to their name, as this battery is more than what they described as double my battery life. With it, I get by two days with super super super heavy usage including a ton a gaming, videos, and auto-sync and wifi on 24/7. That is around 2 days 3 hours with 7-9 hours screen on with the screen at around 50% brightness!!
Would I recommend?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this extended battery to anyone out there. If the price of said Mugen Battery is within your acceptable budget limit, there is no other battery that compares to what Mugen is delivering. And as the old saying goes, "You get what you payed for".
Thanks for this, please post back your results

The seido doesnt even look good on it. try the SGP Neo Hybrid, cut the back flap off, so the battery sticks through , and that way, it looks sexy and it provides the functionality you need

What's with the lip around the back? is it because of your cut? BTW, whats the material on the back of the seido? it doesnt look plastic..is it matte or something?
Yes it's because of the cut. I could probably cut a little more to make it more streamlined.
The seidio with NFC has a soft touch battery cover. It matches the case and feels great in the hand.

I'm looking for a case that goes over the extended battery, not a battery for the phone IE: I have a back to the phone and an extended battery, so the normal phone cases wont fit. I need one that fits over the hump on the back.
I have dropped my phone already an have dings now, so I am wanting a case for protection, but I am doubtful they have such a thing sadly, so I decided to post here and see.

I have the QCell extended battery and I got that trexcell TPU case. It fits perfectly.
I did cut out the volume rocker, though, since it was way too sensitive. And I had to enlarge the microUSB cutout. But it fits around the extended battery door, anyway.
Im using the "Chinese" extended battery and not the Trexcell battery-fits good. Just remember that the extended battery backcover has the be the square type and not the arch type.
The picture makes it appear like it's huge, but with the S2 having a large screen, it's not. It's just right. With this case and cover, i have a better grip, feels very sturdy. I have received many compliments. Believe it or not, the Evo with the extended battery is actually fatter than this set up for the S2.
For me, the extended battery is worth it. I can actually go all day with one battery charged. I have three extended batteries, which i swap out every morning. I haven't charged my S2 from a usb charger in a long time, i use a wall charger for the battery instead.

BTW, i didn't have to make no modifications on my TPU case. The micro usb plug fits in perfectly and the power and volume buttons are good. Not that hard to remove daily if you like to swap out batteries and the same time sturdy, won't come off if you drop your phone. Good investment.

I have the genuine Samsung 2000 and find it very very good after a couple of cycles my battery life has easily doubled and I'm a heavy user. 12 hour working day Wifi/ data on all day bluetooth connection to car 2 hours a day many many calls, sms and emails every day. At the end of 'this' 12 hour shift my battery at around 50%.
I used my 'standard' case with the original back cover cut down to just below the camera to accommodate the extra thickness of the battery, so in my normal case the overall thickness is the same as if using standard battery.
Yes Samsungs 2000 battery is the best for me. Only 2mm more and a huge jump on batteryielife.

Original 2000mah is the best choice. It will give you about 25% plus of what you are getting. The added thickness makes the phone nicer to hold and protects the camera lens.

The official Samsung 2000mah battery seems a bit pricey where I am. Is the any alternatives that you guys can recommend?
Thursday i bought a 3800mAh extended battery from ebay with sprint in the title and also on the battery itself from the pictures i saw. I looked in the description and it also said verizon in it and was a tad confused as to will it fit. For $15 i figured i might as well try it out and see but it gets here monday. I just wanted to know if anyone knows if it will fit on my sprint galaxy nexus properly? or maybe i will have to make some alterations as long as it works? link for it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370639867086
Note: Battery also says i515(Verizon)/L700(Sprint)
Yea that should fit the phone fine. I have the seido 3800 battery and it Has a similar back as described in the pic.
The bad news for this battery is its a cheap Chinese made one and typically they are made of cheap components and won't give u what Ur expecting in battery life....maybe I'm wrong..let Me know the life of it.
The back of the case is slick and I found I needed the 3800 hardshell case to avoid it from falling out of my hand. You may need it as well.
The NFC function may not work with that battery...but Google wallet isn't something I find myself using much anyhow so no big deal.
If the battery sucks...I recommend the seido 3800 as ive been using it for a year and get a full days use fairly easy.

Well the battery came today and had 53 percent left on it. Currently im doing the initial first full drain and so far im already very very impressed! I can already see an increase in battery life. The door fits perfectly on both of the batteries(I ordered two of em) with no problems what so ever. Great so far
Okay im slightly confused, should i drain the battery first or charge it fully overnight?
