Hi all, I'm in need of a little advice. I'm currently running HBOOT CM7r2 on Runnymede AIO V6 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961) and I'm wanting to try out the new version with INT2SD which requires me to change the HBOOT to fatsys.
Anyway I was wondering if I have to run the Bravo Downgrader from alpharev.nl before flashing the fatsys HBOOT?
Also would I have to use the Bravo Downgrader if I wanted to switch back to CM7r2?
Thanks for any advice,
GK
No, I have switched my HBOOT a few times with no problem. I unferstant that you only need the downgrader of you want to flash the RUU to return to stock.
Edit
This is because the RUU will not run with the HBOOT version number as it checks so it does not install over a newer version. The downgrader changes this value.

And you changed it via fastboot ? Because I used Fastboot Commander to flash cm7r2 and I was wondering if I can flash fatsys hboot with the same method, without downgrader. thanks

Yes I used Fastboot Commander. So far I have switched between Oxygen r2 and cm7 r2 found on the Alpharev site and dGB partition for rootSU's diminutive gingerbread ROM. I have not used fatsys but it should just change the partition sizes.
I noticed in another thread you posted in that someone mentioned you should run the downgrader. I was pretty anal about reading up before I did anything to my phone and never read that the downgrader should be run unless you want to return to stock RUU. Also I didn't notice the the OP for the Runnymede ROM said anything else but to flash the HBOOT.
Just make sure to wipe. Front to back, to avoid a bladder infection.

On the alpha rev sire Theres a bravo downgrader. Any 1 know if it's new for the ruu or if its old

hbbot downgrader sould be flashed before you run ruu, in other way you will stay on s-off
yup, just to add to that.. Alpharev's HBoots are made so they cannot be overwritten by other HBoots apart from Alpharev ones, therefore if you flash a RUU and you don't flash the downgrader, you will have a stock, unrooted ROM, but still Alpharev S-OFF. The Alpharev downgrader "Unlocks" The HBoot which allows it to be overwritten by the HBoot from the RUU.

Yeah because that was a newer Hboot.. basically, if you notice the difference between the stock S-ON HTC Hboot and the alpharev one is the version
Stock: 0.93.0001
Alpharev: 6.93.1002
That's why when you flash the RUU it doesn't overwrite the HBoot.. because naturally it won't downgrade it, however the new 2.3 RUU has a newer hboot which is a higher version than the alpharev one, hence it has overwritten it.
Or at least that's the way I understand it..

Flashed the stock hboot on the alpharev site.
Wanted to flash a data++ rom so downloaded the oxygen hboot, md5-ed compared, and flashed.
Appararently from what my bootloader says my hboot cannot be downgraded now.
So my question:
In order to flash the oxygen hboot, do I need to flash the bravo downgrader available on the alpharev site prior to flashing the oxygen hboot?
Many thanks in advance.
Well I Changed mine from Cm7r2 to Oxygenr2 without the downgrader a few weeks back.
But i'd give a try flashing the downgrader first, then the oxygen Hboot.
If you want to flash the older oxygen HBOOT (not the current on Alpharev's site - that's Oxygen_r2) then you definitely need the downgrader.
i dont know how you exactly flash it, i personaly reccomend android flasher 1.8
you need to enter fastboot and start AF program, then you choose to flash hboot and thats it,
you dont need to flash downgrader in case you wanna change your current hboot
downgrader need to be flashed when you want to return S.ON before executing official RUU for example froyo RUU 2.29.405
I thought the easiest way how to flash hboot is via adb. I did it many times without any problem

yeah, 100 people 100 solutions
for me the best and easiest way is via android flasher, never try via adb so i cannot compare
Yea I used ADB to flash. and it shows on the command prompt that "UPDATE BYPASSED" and the bootloader that the hboot cannot be downgraded. and hence the question.
Thanks for the feedback everyone =) Would try the downgrader method a day or what from now and post the results back.

Personally I use fastboot to flash everything.. that's how I learnt and that's the way I'll stick too
you can use either command prompt or fastboot commander (I'd recommend, lots of good features and has never failed) or android flasher (never used before but hear good things)
Here's what I did:
1)fastboot flashed downgrader hboot
2)reboot bootloader
3)sucessful flashed oxygen r1 hboot without update bypassed showing
4)profiting from data++ now =)
thanks all for the feedback again. really appreciate it. =)
problem solved.
I had 2.3.3 oficial update. I used revolutionary to s-off (with the oficial update i had 1.02.0001 hboot and after s-off i had 6.93.0002 hboot). After s-off i ran the shipped RUU and i am still s-off and 6.93.0002 hboot.
Is there a way to get back to 0.93.0001?

'' First rename the Bravo downgrader.zip to PB99IMG run it in HBOOT MODE, not recovry mode, aply the update, than you hboot will chance to '' ... 9999 '' , after that i had a RUU ZIPFILE, rename that also to PB99IMG run in HBOOT mode and you're done, yoo i learn this as wel!,
''
So did this bring your phone back to S-ON after you ran the RUU?
Aha it did work thanks

But how do I flash the downgrader??. If I double click on the downgrader it asks me what I want to use to burn the file?.
I am trying to get my wifes desire to have a custom rom as it keeps saying she is low on memory. I have used revolutionary to change from hboot 1.02 to 6.93 with s off but now do not have a clue what to do. I have been trying to read up on what to do all day but everything speaks as though I should know exactly what to do from the off!.
Give me my HD2 any day!!! lol
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Scotty.

Download the img, rename it to PB99IMG.img and place it on the root of your sdcard. Then boot into hboot (while the phone is off, press volume down + power button), click vol up button to apply update and again to reboot. Now its flashed. Then you can continue with the RUU.

Why do you want to do that?
There is a downgrader.img on the alpharev website which if you fastboot flash it to replace the existing hboot, will then allow you to use a RUU. Choose a RUU that has the hboot you want and run it. Of course this will unroot your phone. What is your actual aim here?
Downgrade from HBOOT 6.93.0002 to 0.93.0001
Guys, if you ORIGINALLY had 0.93.00001 and ran the Revolutionary S-OFF program, it WILL update your HBOOT to 6.93.0002. This is a GOOD thing, you'll still be S-OFF'd but you'll be running the Gingerbread HBOOT version. It's always better to have the newer version of the HBOOT than the older version. As long as you're S-OFF'd, it really doesn't matter which HBOOT version you have, I just recommend the newer version. Thanks!

For your information, GB Hboot is 1.02.0001 not 6.93.0002. 6.93.0002 is revolutionary hboot and if htc sees that highly likely they will not place it under warranty.

Hi everyone I needed to dowgrade because I wanted to use Alex-V's new 1.7.5 HD rom wich requires custom hboot but apparently the revolutionary one is newer hence the need of dowgrade but it was all a bit confusing for me aswell (no ofence and big thanks to all of you that are trying very hard to make it as simple as possible for us) so at the end just before I give up I put the downgrade img from AlphaRev's site in android flasher and it was all done in 1.6sec
I hope that helps

Use your other android phone for the goldcard. Then flash the 2.2 WWE RUU. If that fails, use the 2.3 one.
Thanx bortak, i'll try..
Bortak, why adb still cant find my device? for Fastboot it's ok...
I'm preety sure you won't be able to do what you're up to with Alpharev cause you have 0.93 hboot, you need revolutionary for that.
But, if you use 2.2 RUU it can happen to downgrade hboot to 0.88 so then you can try with Alpharev.

Alpharev is ok with 0.93(mine was 0.93 and 2.29.405.5) but it is obsolete and requires stock rooted ROM (unrevoked root must be done prior s-off procedure), revolutionary can do everything in one go I prefer Revolutionary

Flash the stock hboot from alpharev similar to the way you flashed cm7r2.
There is nothing like best hboot. Its just partitions your phones internal memory.
