Seems that ICS doesn't like apps on the SD card and only allows them on the internal storage.. that's what I came to figure out after trial and error.. restoring apps with the SD card unmounted works great!
But even after restoring your apps on the internal storage.. you wont be able to move them to the SD card.. not sure if its because of ICS being a leak and not implemented yet or if that's how its going to stay even with the final stable release.

I was able to move some of my apps by unmounting and then remounting my SD card.

do you mean the new native froyo apps2sd or the old style? if you mean the new one no, the old one you just have to format your ext partition, unless you dont have one, then obviously you would have to format to create a new ext partiton
Thanks for the reply
I ment the native froyo apps2sd......
I have downloaded a few apps to try and none have the option to move to SD card....they are greyed out.
Does this mean they are not updated yet to sent to SD card or maybe i need to use other steps to do this?
Can you tell me a free app that can be used on SD card so i can try please.
Cheers.
i heard theres a problem with either htc's new kernel or the new build of froyo not letting you save apps to a sd card, try leedroids or udk's roms as they use older builds and kernels or try this app see if it works, just set the install location to external
Thanks!
I installed Leedroids rom and installed ModinstallLocation....when i check manage applications, there is option there now to move to sd card but after i click on it....it is still highlighted to move to sd card.
I think it is still installing to phone memory.

the froyo apps2sd is wank to be honest lol it takes as much space on your fone than your sd card, to check its working look in the android secure folder on ur sd card, if there are apk's there its working, you'll be alot better just using the classic version tho
Alright, I'm getting a notification that says Blank SD card in CM7, and on my sense ROM it said phone storage not found. Under memory in settings, it also says /mnt/emmc is not found, and my music is missing. I think this is because I loaded my own ROM that had apps to ext and a couple other storage features in it. If I take all my folders off my sd card, format it to fat32 and put them all back on, will I lose any functionality? Also, is there any other way to fix this?

Backup what you have on your sd card to your computer and then format the card to what you need. Then, put everything from your backup back on to the sd card and you should be fine.

This happened to me once on CM7 as well...and unfortunately I lost everything.
It wasnt the SD Card though - I dont even think it was the emmc. It was some odd error that I can only fix by doing a RUU.
And even then I had to factory wipe it through the RUU like 3 times.
Wasnt a fun experience...almost took it back to the Verizon Store.
CM 7, as do all AOSP roms, interacts with sd during boot for stuff it needs. As such, sd reformat prior to AOSP rom boot will result in failure, bootloop among the issues. So, don't do that.
If sd fails/failed already, your rom won't boot anyway, so you have to download a sense rom like Virtuous, boot it, and go from there.

Have you tried clearing data and cache from the play store, settings-apps-play-clear data, clear cache. That's happened to me on various phones and roms and that has always worked for me?
Out of curiosity, do you use lucky patcher? And what else have you used to try to move the apps to sd? If your default install location had been set to sd via an app, and the card isn't set up right you will get this error.
I haven't used apps2sd in a long time. If I remember correctly you need a separate ext partition on your sd card. If you never formatted the card that may be the problem too.
what is a lucky patcher? ...i just bought the sd card i have been able to add things to it and install with no errors..when i updated the jellybomb to v7 i unstalled it on this sd card with no problem...

You're running a deodexed ROM....go into system/app folder and see if you see any .odex files. If you do, delete them and you won't have any problems updating after that.
I'm running an ODEX stock rooted JB ROM. Is there a way to use the external sd card for apps? I purchased the 16 gig model thinking I can use my 6 gb ext card, only to find out it is sitting there only being used for titanium and root backups.
[Q] FK23 TW Gallery "Not Enough space" , Instagram "Please insert an SD card", etc
I'm running the rooted TW FK23 ROM on my Epic 4G Touch (recently flashed over my old GB ROM). Whenever I try to load the gallery I get the error "Not enough space. Delete unnecessary items, such as downloaded software, pictures, videos, and documents" pop up. When I go into Instagram and try to use the built-in camera I get the error "Please insert an SD card before using the camera."
In Dropbox, new photos are uploading to my image folder, but when I try to view thumbnails of the images they are simply blank and when I try to select one to preview it, it says "Thumbnail failed to load"
I've formatted the SD card, deleted significant amount of space from the internal flash storage and confirmed that there is still ample space on the device memory. I'm still able to take as many photos as I want in the actual camera app, and they save to the SD card fine, and if they're on the SD card Dropbox detects them and uploads them.
One thing I did notice in Titanium Backup is that it says I have 13.5MB free of the 'System ROM', but I have 890MB free of 'Internal', 1.72GB free of 'SD card' and 7.78GB of 'Ext. SD card' free.
I'm at something of a loss to what I need to do next.
Thanks
Im running rooted Spain Stock 4.1.2 ROM on Galaxy S2, and I have exactly same problem. I just tried everything. It works for a while when I disconnect the external SD card by Storage settings and restart mobile, so I think the problem is in the way the system is dealing with it (which I already formatted, scanned, and so on).
same problem on XWLS8...i tried everything...format system, change rom to LSJ, unplug the sd card...but

HOW?
how?
Hi, can I use SD Card as default storage? How? I have a 64 GB SD Card, but every App/Games data is in external storage(which have only 10 GB, and now it is full), when I move Android folder from external storage to SD card, every game stops working, because can't find data and try downloading it again to external storage. I try several app for moving to the SD card, but without luck, Is there any solution? Thank you.
app removed sorry
Why would you think that just moving an app's data would be okay? How on earth would the app know where you moved its files to?
Have you tried Apps2SD?

Yes, without luck. I move it to the SD card, but its same as when I do it with file explorer, game canť find data and trying downloading it again..
Are you running a custom ROM? I thought from your signature you were on Viper. Then I realized its not a Viper version number (7.0.0) that applies to this phone.
I think the SD card fix needs to be applied for Apps2SD to work, but most (if not all) custom ROMs should already have the SD card fix implemented.

Yes, sdfix is aplied in rom (Viper 3.1.0.) I see in some LG device, it have in setting/storage when people can select default storage. I need set a sd card as default, but can't find how.
