A little help
I used to be able to select set ring tone in the music player and it gave the options to set as contact or phone and trim ring tone. Once I installed the new Unleashed Ultra Blakk 3 I like it but I no longer have that option. As soon as you select set as ring tone it sets the song without an additional options.
I see a ring tone trimmer file but that's empty.
What I have done so far is installed htcringtone trimmer.apk file I found in a few posts but it doesn't install when I attempt to install it from astro file manager.
I'm I using the wrong program to install the apk file?
Does anyone have the trimmer file that comes in the HTC music app?
Help
There are tons of ringtone trimmer's in the market.
As far as your problem, that's what happens when you install custom roms. You lose some functionality to trade for speed. I'm not sure about that rom, but I'm guessing they just took that functionality out.
And fyi, this question would be WAY better off in the actual thread for that rom, you will get many more responses from people who actually use that rom.
I'll try and move it over. Thanks

Alright, here's the deal. Any music app that I've tried seems to run into the same problem--once the screen turns off, the current playing song will play through and then the player stops playing. I'm trying to play on a "shuffle all" setting, so it should progress to the next track, but doesn't.
I have wiped the phone. I have flashed a few of the roms from this forum. No matter what, it's the same behavior. The built-in music player works fine, I just don't care for it (the "shuffle all" feature requires that you play a song first to get to it, ugh).
So, I'm wondering if the proprietary lockscreen has something to do with it. I know that, if music is playing, info is displayed on the lockscreen, but only with the sammy music app. I was hoping to look through the source code to see if I could determine more about it, but I really don't know much about the structure of android and I'm not sure where to begin. I've used APK Manager to open up framework-res.apk, but beyond that I am not seeing anything there that might help.
Are there any devs that might know what to look for, and where? It doesn't seem like framework-res.apk really governs anything, it mostly just handles displaying things.
I don't remember exactly where but its either inside framework.jar or framework-res.apk. you will need to decompile them first.
I would say to not bother with the hassle. Whitehawk is going to work on a rom with lockscreens options that has music controls settings..

only actual development can be in DEV section
this is more of a [REQ]UEST at this point
One day, I might actually get it right. I swear the rules in the forums feel different for every phone I've had, lol.
You might give this a whirl and see if it fixes it - https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock
Lockscreen files will be in the android.policy.jar and framework.jar. The images for the lockscreen are in the framework-res.
Alright, so I tried the nolock app, and it doesn't solve this issue. Clearly, Samsung has done something ridiculous in their kernel that is keeping other music players from working correctly, but it's way too outside my capabilities right now to figure out how or what.
Hey guys,
Ok, quick question. I noticed the other day while waiting for my java class to "run" (haha see what I did there) and the guy across from me has what I think was a cry-phone. I heard his texts come in a few times and each time he had a different ringtone. (at least it seemed so.) It cycled through like 3 or 4 different ones before restarting the loop.
**Note I do NOT mean that the ringtone kept replaying, instead I mean it ran as.
ringtone A. (stop)..... (new text) Ringtone B. (stop).... (new text) ringtone C. (stop).... (new text) ringtone A. etc.
Is there a way to do this for the Epic?
Ex. One ringtone = "Hey!" (Navi) Second = "Listen!" (Navi again)
Thanks Guys
Yay! Zelda fan
I'm not sure but id look into it possibly an app that does it or a customization that his ROM has the ability of.

Are u sure that the phone is made to loop the ringtones as u say or could it just be that he has a different ringtone for let's say 3 ppl and the same 3 ppl would txt him in the same order lol?

Hi, im getting really frustrated here...sorry for the title.
I used the search function and came out with basically nothing, at least in Q&A.
Tried few different kernels, endless roms on my ARC S and for some effing reason the alarm is not working on eachone of them.
Either i cannot select the ringtone or the ringtone is simply silent...
Is it something that has to do with latest firmwares on ARC S or simply that the rom was designed for lt15 and not lt18i?
Can someone give me an explanation and possible a solution to all this mess, i find it hard to believe that every rom out there has bugged alarm functions.
Many thanks
Have you tried any 3rd party alarm from the play store, do these work, if they do it could be that the alarm app is messed up.

Delete the existing alarm/s and add a new one. You'll be able to select a new ringtone then.
I'm running Vanilla Rootbox 4.0 ROM, but this has bugged me with other ROMs for quite some time. I guess when 4.1 or 4.2 came out, Android started making audio controls on lockscreen available. That's wonderful for people that want them, but I HATE them. I've searched off and on for months to find out how to turn them off and all I ever find is people saying how glad they are to have them. No one seems to want to disable them completely, as I do. Can anyone please help me? I want the lock screen to look exactly the same no matter what apps are running on my phone.
What music player are you using (I'm assuming stock?) I honestly haven't seen a way on how to remove the stock controls except by using another music player. I use PowerAmp and I never get the lockscreen controls.
Hope it helps

ANYTHING that plays sound does it. The stock music player, Pandora, Slacker Radio. Heck, even Mort Player (audiobooks) shows the controls when it's running.

Hmmm that's odd.
And you've looked thru all the settings in both apps and ROM settings right?
It might be hidden in there somewhere.
I'm on AoCP and I never get the controls
Give it a shot

Boy I sure would be happy if it were that simple and I was just blind, but I'm not seeing it anywhere. Closest thing I can see is in the AOKP settings (Rootbox is an AOKP and CM hybrid) for the lockscreen where it lists an option to control music volume with the volume keys from the lockscreen. This setting doesn't affect the widget though.
Thanks for the suggestions though!
I've been reading a bit about AoCP and I may just have to give it a run. I hate wiping my device and spending a whole day setting everything back up, but this issue is really irritating me and it seems like lots of people are very happy with AoCP.

Just use Tinanium Backup to make a flash able zip of all your apps or use the app alone to back up apps and data so that next time you flash it just takes you 3 minutes to set up everything

I've tried that and had it fail horribly on me in the past. The only time I've been able to restore backups made with TB has been when restoring to the same version ROM. A couple times I made a backup, flashed a completely different ROM, went to restore and was unable to. So I just don't even trust it anymore when it comes to flashing ROMs.
Question though since you're obviously knowledgeable about AoCP and I'm too much of a n00b to post in the AoCP thread. The thread says:
AoCP_I747_CP5.6 -dev host link
This is 3.4 kernel base and it is very stable
AoCP_I747_5.6-kernel -dev host link
Just so I'm clear here, do I need to install the top link AND THEN install the kernel link as well? I haven't messed with any ROMs where a separate kernel download was given, so I just want to be sure I don't cause more issues for myself.
Just download the ROM and gapps (which you should have if you've ran any 4.2.2 ROMs )
No extra steps or anything
5.6 should be the release right now.
There is more goodies coming really soon
But the dev.host link should be it

Thanks jayRokk. I got AoCP installed without issue. Not a bad ROM, though I prefer Rootbox better. Too many extras I've gotten used to, I guess. The bigger issue, however, is that I had the same issue with AoCP. The stock music app did not show any controls on the lock screen, but everything else did. I did a complete wipe before flashing and cleared davlik both before and after flashing, so I'm positive it's not some weird setting I have somewhere that's managed to carry over from ROM to ROM.
I am 100% with you on this. I hate the lock screen controls and can not find a single thread about deleting them. I'll watch this thread and let you know if I find anything.

Widget locker disables the notification bar when locked.... you do have to buy it though... I tried it and does work.

I don't want to disable the notification bar thou. I don't even want to disable all lock screen widgets just the music controls. I love dashclock. That's what I want of my default lock screen. If the music controls could even be moved to a second lock screen like the camera that would be awesome. I guess I should say I'm on CM. I have no idea how touchwiz handles these things.

Exactly this. While I certainly appreciate the responses from everyone trying to help, the idea of spending $3.00 on a 3rd party app just to fix what, IMO, is a pretty major oversight (just give me a setting in a menu to enable/disable it) is a very hard pill to swallow. I currently use Lockscreen Policy to disable the camera and all secondary widget screens. I've emailed the developer to see if they could add the ability to disable the music controls as well, but haven't heard anything back. ALL I want on my lock screen is time, date, battery and next alarm, which the stock locker and dashclock give me. If only I could disable the $%^#@ audio controls!
