My goal is to delete all the crap I dont want on the phone.
Is Sprint Hotspot part of the framework? Where can I find the apk/odex to delete the Sprint Hotspot app? Thanks a lot.
Disclaimer: Just got my E4GT.
Thanks!
Here is a link to Calk's Bare ROM converter. The zip deletes all the nonessential stuff from your cell.

I appreciate the link. Still getting used to the E4GT's file system.
This zip didnt seem to delete anything more than I have already deleted...Anyone know where the hotspot is located at? Part of the system framework?
Thank you very much!
Using a file browser with root privileges (Root Explorer, the file explorer that is part of ROM Toolbox, etc.) navigate to /system/apps and find the apk you want to remove. Move/delete it and reboot.

Its not in there. Im reading around and the consensus seems to be that its baked into the framework/settings/system.
Thanks anyway.
I found the app in titanium backup under WI-fi Hotspot 2.1.2213353159.346110.325804
The sprint hotspot is baked into settings.apk you can not remove it.

What's New
The most notable and immediately apparent new feature is the long overdue ability to remove apps you've previously downloaded from the All Apps list. If you like to try a lot of apps, that list is likely very cluttered. With the new Google Play, you can trim it to your heart's content.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...bility-to-remove-apps-from-the-all-apps-list/
Very welcomed update! Works great. Download at source ^^

Make a backup before trying!
Anyways, you can try..
Goto system/app, rename play store apk (i always just add ".bac")
Reboot. Use a root explorer, rename new play store, drop it into system/app. Reboot again. Should be good
almost forgot, set permissions too. rw r r

I'm saying that Google Wallet is not working on my AT&T Note II. I did this:
1. Reboot into TWRP and install the zip provided by Warlock in linked thread
2. Reboot system
3. Start up Google Wallet, force close during setup (the screen that says "setup may take up to 5 minutes"... etc)
EDIT: I didn't install from Google Play, I thought I did... but apparently the ZIP installs it for me? I go to Google Wallet in the Play store and there is no "Uninstall" option which means it must be installed in system...

yes you have to do it over again for New ROM. Restore from TiBu not gonna work
Anyone with this done successfully wanna make a flashable zip? Would only need to grab the files in the zip in linked thread and then replace the ones in hte old zip with the ones from your file system. This would help all att users and that user also so they wouldnt have to do the mod over and over, just flash the zip.
Hello. I really hate that my screen turns on when receiving a text. If someone can mod this attached Verizon stock MMS apk I would gladly donate $10. Wish I could donate more. Good luck and hope it can be done. Probably can't be done with our Verizon luck

I know it is not a fix for the stock app but I use that for a pop up cause I really like that feature from AOSP roms. With that popup you can choose to have the screen turn on or not.

Thanks for the input but I was really wanting stock.

Ours unfortunately is different
We had that issue with the Note 2 initially too ...a work around (that worked on the Note 2) is an app in the Play Store ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.everythingandroid.smspopup ) - it allows you to keep screen off. I use a 3rd party texting app so I haven't had this issue.
Good luck!
Thanks but I really prefer the stock app with screen off.

i make no promises that this will be perfect, so make a backup of your files.
this being said, here is the zip.
in a root explorer, copy both files inside the zip.
paste them into the system folder.
set correct permissions (rw-r-r)
reboot. :fingers-crossed:
if it worked correctly, in your settings menu of the mms you should have a new option now to toggle screen off
