I searched all over last night & can't seem to find any thing about it
I can't seem to get a working apk after themeing TouchWizCalendar.apk
I have been using APK Multi-Tool 1.0.2 & used option 10 & dragged twframework-res.apk in to the window then the apk decompiles fine. The TouchWizCalendar.apk is a GB one from the Fascinate is works fine on my phone with all touchwiz roms unedited, Do you think i need to use twframework-res.apk from the Fascinate?
Then option 11 then 12 it compiles fine without any errors, have tried with & without option 2 (Optimize images inside) & 5 (zipalige)
I'm i using to wrong tools?

You might need to try using a newer version of apktool or try apk manager. i use apk manager that shane has modded and its very simple. any ways you might need to use the touchwizcalendar from our phone i dont know that you can use the our resources for another touchwiz apk. Then again it is touchwiz. You may just need to update apktool.
That is the newest apk mutitool. And the Fascinate calendar is on my phone right now runing just fine. The mideNight roms had them as adons back with froyo. The one I'm using is a GB apk.
Btw apk mutitool is a lot newer than apk manager. I will try it with apk manager any how

There is no apk just for this wallpaper...
It is include in an apk with other live wallpapers
Here is the apk and obex files
Just put them in system/app folder (make a backup of your own files before!!!)
It's come from JM7
I've missed all the LWP!
I've puted the apk and obex files in system/app folder, but i can't select the LWP from the menu. I've tryed to restore the original files, but the result is the same.
Please help me!
Thank you for the help!
I've installed a new rom and i have the LWP again.
Hi,
i tried to install the given Livewallpaper.apk and odex, but couldn't see any of the livepapers in that apk in the livepaper menu.
therefore i looked into the apk provided in this thread and in my apk from the JPO-Release.
Both apks contain the water pngs and a resource named fall that seems to be the water livewallpaper.
My assumes
- the livewallpaper.apk from the Android 2.1 Release seems not to be compatible with Froyo.
- There is a problem with the livewallpapers.apk that prevents the fall/water livewallpaper to be shown.
I really liked that livewallpaper - any hints what i could do would be appreciated.

I tried this on fusion 1.2 stock Tmo. Vibrant and had the same problem. It may be because that's a deodexed rom and this won't work without the odex I don't know. But I also had to reflash to get my stock papers back.
i also want that LW too
We all like water Live wallpaper ,and we can't make it run on 2.2 ?
Done
finally got it to run.
i used the apktool to decompile the LiveWallpapers.apk from my Phone (Froyo)
and also decompiled the Eclair Version Mopral posted earlier in the thread.
As i compared the AndroidManifest.xml-files i saw that there were 2 entrys more in the eclair version that defined the water and the polar clock LiveWallpapers.
Simply changing the Manifest and building the apk didn't work.
First i had to get rid of the LiveWallpapers.odex file.
I used xultimate to deodex the LiveWallpapers.apk file (means it put the part of the odex-file into the apk as dex-directory again).
So i deodexed the apk, then decompiled it with apktool, changed the AndroidManifest.xml, compiled it again with the apktool.
Finally i had to sign the apk again so Android let me install it.
I used this tool for that: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
then i simply pushed the apk onto my phone and installed it.
After that i could pick water as well as the polar clock (which i find very ugly) and both work on my phone.
I hope it works on your phone too - don't forget to make backups! I take no responsibilty if it does not work for you.
sorry for not adding the urls to the tools - but as a new user i am not allowed to post links to outside pages... just google for apktool and xultimate in case you want to do it yourself.
Good detective work!
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

Ok i have followed your guide. All credits to you. I have enabled the falling leaves live wallpaper and its working fine on my i9000 phone.
here is the link :---
http://www.mediafire.com/?31ndvryn56qmia8
Anyone who wants to use it , just replace this uploaded "LiveWallpaper.apk" with the one present in system/app/.
I haven't enabled the polar clock as its the crappiest live wallpaper i have ever seen.
Also remember that i have tested this on fully deodexed Docs Froyo ROM. I cant guaranty for other systems.
OP you can change the thread topic as "Solved" by "Wolkenfels".
Also provide this link in first post for others.
thanks for the link Nickporwal - i thought i had attached the file to my original post but must have done something wrong. Doh.
i have only this apk deodexed all others are untouched.
Cheers
Thank you both.
finally it work again ,tested on Spike Speedy Edition v3.0 OC.
a reboot is required before running WATER livewallpaper
Can somebody show how to do this in a video because i'm a newb @ this lol ?

LWP is just an application - i can see no reason why i shouldn't work with "speedmod".

I pulled the Gallery.apk out of /system/app/ from a Virtual Device running SDK Platform Android 2.2, API 8, revision 2, and copied it into my JPO (Doc's ROM v7.6.2) /system/app/ folder. In contrast to the Email.apk which I "updated" the same way, it did not install automatically. Well, it does not install at all. I cannot find a way of installing it manually either. Can it be that it isn't compatible?
btw: The SDK Email.apk is very nice and works without any problems so far. But I don't like the Samsung gallery (sensor-bug) and I don't like the old gallery (slow, low resolution) and hoped, the SDK one is somehow improved.
Try this build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752007
Thanks But I tried before and the Gallery3D higher res MOD seems to have an issue with Galaxy S (black bar next to Thumbnails, wrong scaling, ...)
Since the SDK Email.apk worked so flawlessly I just hoped the original Gallery.apk would work as well. Hmmm... Any way how I could find out why it's not installing?
I want to modify the Phone.apk from teamhacksung CM9 B17 for Galaxy S.
What I want to do is to modify it that when I have an incoming call, to see the full picture of the caller. more precisely I want that the black rectangle where you have icon to answer or t reject, to be transparent.
It can be done. I got from the xda forum a moded Phone.apk for B16 where that rectangle is transparent.
I have attached a picture so that you understand what I'm talking about. i also have attached that transparent mod for B16.
Using Beyond Compare 3, I guess that I have to modify in the following file:
Phone.apk\res\layout\incall_touch_ui.xml and replace:
<com.android.internal.widget.multiwaveview.MultiWaveView android:id="@id/incomingCallWidget" android:background="@android:color/black" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="fill_parent" .......
with:
<com.android.internal.widget.multiwaveview.MultiWaveView android:id="@id/incomingCallWidget" android:background="@android:color/transparent" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="fill_parent" .......
Here comes the problem:
I decompile Phone.apk with Apk_Manager_5.0.2, change that word, save the file and the recompile.
After i install the phone.apk using a zip container from recovery, when I try to make a call or receive a call, I get the: "Voice calls not suported" error.
I tryed all the combinations for compiling: system app, signed/unnsigned; nonsystem app signed/unsigned. Same error.
What am I doin wrong? Any ideas?
Thanks.
similar problem here, but my Phone.apk just crashs
I've had similar issues on Samsung's GB ROMs. I had no problems with Contacts.apk, MMS.apk and DialerTabActivity.apk. I could easily recompile them and moded versions would work. But recompiled Phone.apk kept FC-ing so I eventually gave up.
I don't know what tools themers use to make it work.
After recompiling the Phone.apk open it with 7zip, extract the file that you have modified and put it in the original phone.apk.

copying the file did work, thanks for that tip. However the mod did not work, the lower area is still black :-(
You need to change some files from the apk manager to compile android 4.0 files. I can upload my apk manager whitch works as soon as I get home.
those apk manager changes (it's actually not a single change in apk manager but just using apktools 1.4.1) are only related to the smali/dex files. layout/*.xml aren't influenced by that.
These are the changes that I was talking about:
"No problem I used Apk Manager 5.x(dont know exactly). But I've done this two things with the APK-Manager:
-deleted the original aapt.exe in /others and copied the one from the platform tools folder in from the sdk(has to be done if you work with ics apps)
-(de)compiled with Apk-tool 1.4.1 instead of 1.4.3 as the newer version sometimes causes some errors. Just delete the Apkttool.jar in /others and download 1.4.1 from the apk tool webite and paste it in /other
afterwards everything should work fine.."
i know those changes (see above), they don't solve the problem though.
apktool 1.4.1 + copy unchanged files (everything but ressources.arsc and incall_touch_ui.xml): FC
apktool 1.4.1 + don't copy: FC
apktool 1.4.3 + copy unchanged files: no FC but contact pic is still the old size
apktool 1.4.3 + don't copy: FC
same proble here with GS2.
this incoming call screen filled with black is very anoying...
any news on how to fiw that?
phone transparent incoming call
That app does wgat it is supposed, ask mr goodle, for i don't kjnow where i have found it
i made it AOKP build 37
Thats great, but can you explain how to do that?
Cause i' use GS2, and not GS, adn with different rom, we have to use differents phone.apk.
So instead of asking you every time, i'd like to learn how to do it.
Thanks!

Hi. That's how I was able to do it:
First, copy your Phone.apk from the system folder inside your phone to your computer. Do not use any other Phone.apk, because it may be another version and it will not work. Or extract the Phone.apk from the rom that you flashed to your phone and use it.
You must make some changes to the apk manager to complie/decomplile Phone.apk.
Here is the list with the changes. If you follow it exactly, it should work:
-delete the original aapt.exe in /others and copy the one from the platform tools folder from the sdk(has to be done if you work with ics apps) - you must install android 4.0 sdk. Google it and you will find it easy.
-(de)compile with Apk-tool 1.4.1 instead of 1.4.3 as the newer version sometimes causes some errors. Just delete the Apkttool.jar in /others and download 1.4.1 from the apk tool webite and paste it in /other
afterwards everything should work fine...
Then, when you get the unsignedPhone.apk, rename it to Phone.apk, and put it in a zip file and flash via recovery. Do not copy it with inside the phone because it will not work. If you don't know how to make a zip file, just download any mod (perka, reloaded ...) and open the zip with 7zip, delete any apk's you find in it, and drag Phone.apk inside the System folder from the zip, and then flash it via recovery.
Good luck.
If it does't work, send me an email: [email protected], and I will send you my apk manager that is allready modified and works to compile/decompile.
I have been using this thread since the mytouch4g days and it has helped more than I can say. With that being said, I am stuck, I downloaded Jellybomb Domination (latest version, I think its 11) and the blue theme has gotten very old. I downloaded Rom Toolbox pro to try to change the colors but it doesn't work and I can't find an non-themed version of it. (I don't mind the inverted aps)
Does anyone know how to work with this? THis is the best and most stable rom Ive ever used and don't really want to change.
:\
Use apktool to decompile the apps. You'll want to look into the following:
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
/system/framework/twframework-res.apk
Those two apk's dictate most of the colors you see. The status bar (signal/battery etc) are found in
/system/app/SystemUI.apk
I'm sure many xml's were edited as well. What I would do is decompile the stock apk's from the JB OTA and use Beyond Compare 3 (if you use Windows) or Meld (Linux distribution) and compare the themed apk's to the plain stock ones.

Hello,
I need your help!!
I have been customizing my Galaxy Tab S, which I recently updated to Lollipop, and I have successfully customized SystemUI.apk, SecSettings.apk, etc. However, when I wanted just change a value in framework-res, I got many FC's. I cannot even open Settings.
So, I decompiled framework-res and recompiled it without changing anything. The result is the same. I got many FC's and not even the power button is working. And, I need to reflash original framework-res.
As I normally use Apk Multi-tool (with Apktool 2.2.2.), I tested Advanced Apktool (4.1.0). The result is the same and the recompiled framework-res is not usable.
What am I doing wrong? Maybe there is something special about this framework-res?
Maybe it is the version of Apktool? What is the version which works for framework-res?
Which tool do you use to work with framework-res from Galaxy Tab S (Lollipop)?
By the way, I did not have any problem with Kitkat framework-res from Galaxy Tab S. Neither did I with Lollipop framework-res for Galaxy Note 3.
Can someone help?
