[Q] Google Voice causing voice distortion - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have had my T989 since October and have loved the phone except for voice quality. Using GV created such distortion that I could not even understand my own messages left on the answering machine. My spouce refused to talk to me when using the phone. This was true with or w/o using the case.
In January, I returned the phone to Samsung, and they did a software update. The update did away with a minor echo problem, and calls w/o GV are now acceptable but not as good as previous phones. I want to use my GV number for business, but I am too ashamed to do so. My voice is still unintelligible to the listener. Has anyone else experieincd this problem with GV on a T989?

A little distortion is to be expected with VOIP, but GV is horrible on my GSII.

I think that it is just a malfunction with your phone bro I have been using GV for about 3 yrs and never had any problems.

I've been using it for years with no issues until this phone.

I do not use wifi. GV on my phone needs all the help it can get. I even remove the cover, use noise, reduction, and tape the speaker mic when using GV. I hate to be without my phone for two weeks, but looks like I will have to send it back to Samsung again.

[CM7] Answering a phone calls

So, seems that ever since I flashed to Nightly build 5+ (currently on 10) I have a weird option to answer phone calls. Everytime I get a call, I slide the tab to answer, then an in call voice prompts me to press 1 to answer and someother options as well. Is this a feature of CM7 or is this some weird bug like thing (lol) I'd really like to get rid of it so all I have to do is slide the tab to answer my calls, as having to press "1" to answer every phone call is kind of annoying

It unexpected, but nice at first. Now its just kind of annoying :\
I've looked thru the settings to see if there's a way to toggle it on/off but haven't come up with anything yet.

My problem is when the phone rings when I am doing something else on the phone, I have to use the pull down menu just to bring up the call to hit the slide to answer the call. The incoming phone call is not overriding whatever you are doing, so it is very hard to answer.

That is your Google voice integration. Either remove it or as mentioned above log in on a browser and change the option.
Thanks guys!

Is there a reason we all pretty much need to use Google Voice? Does Sprint not recognize our phones properly on CM? Before I activated it, I was not receiving voice mails properly. Sorry for potentially dumb question, I'm still trying to figure everything out here. Also, the Voice website says things about account balances... Does this in any way change my billing for Sprint, or cost extra or anything? Or is that stuff just for people who use Voice as their only provider?

No. I used Sprint voicemail on CM9 with no problem. I used to turn off notification and use the 9016 text as my notification. Sprint vvm for the Epic was made to run with Touchwiz, CM7,9,AOKP,MIUI are not Touchwiz. Alias8188 got the ICS version from the Epic Touch to work on these. But for those still having problems it is just easier to send you to Goggle Voice which has a deal with Sprint for integration so there are no charges.

Awesome GN2 texting capabilites

I apologize if this is already known but I'll post it anyway. I was actually able to text using the voice to text feature but heres the kicker....I was currently in a call using the speaker phone! The GN2 didnt pick up the voice coming through the speaker phone, just my voice! I spoke into the phone and sent the text.

Good find! Yeah, Samsung is known to include these neat little capabilities.

google hangout won't hangup

If I hangup a hangout video call, the person in the other end can still hear my audio and as long as they don't hangup they can continue to listen in. It works the same way in reverse, I can listen in as long as I don't hangup.
2- Samsung gallaxys, one s3 and one s4. not rooted.
Not Cool.
Shouldn't hangout disconnect everything when one party hangs up?

Same here. Even worse, it answers and I can't see or talk to the person on the other end.

Texting on the moto 360

Is anyone having an issue where in the middle of talk to text the watch just cuts off in the middle of the sentence? This is getting very aggravating... By the way I'm on 4.4w.2

I had the same issue - found out that the watch wasn't picking up what I said. It is fine now that I either talk louder or bring the watch closer to me.

OK hopefully that will work then... I thought maybe the mic cuz there was times where it completely botched what I said... But then again it can still be because I ain't talking loud enough...

I've also noticed if you pause for too long it thinks you're done. You almost have to speak in a long run on sentence.
