Hi all - need some help unrooting my desire.
Have tried every RUU I can find, and the PB99 img route but everything fails. I believe my desire is an unbranded (although I got it from Vodafone), but I have flashed a new radio in the past.
If anyone can point me in the right direction id appriciate it.
My phone's details are :
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23

what was the reason of the fail ??
maybe you will need to downgrade either the ROM or hboot or both.
before you can flash RUU again.
try first to flash a froyo custom rom... then flash RUU for gingerbread,
that may help, as the RUU will not flash if the current phone's ROM is >= the RUU
Yeah, was telling me the flash was older, etc, i thought it was down to a newer HBOOT didnt realise it could be due to my CM7 rom I have installed,,, will chuck an old Froyo rom on later and try it - thanks!
dammit.. looks like i need something like this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
But... all the older rom links are Multiupload.com which doesnt exist any more... can anyone help? Anyone have a stock FroYo rom to share?
Kev
i might be wrong, to
u may still need to downgrade the hboot to.
but try a lower ROM first
Will do when i get home later, thanks!

I tried searching for this but to no avail.. if some one here has better searchfu than me just point me in the right direction but here is my problem.
Im using a 2.2 android HTC desire from O2 I was following the instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044 here to Root it. I installed the Hboot drivers fine and got Unrevoked working as far as i can tell.
I launch it and it goes through the entire process of restarting my phone into Hboot and then restarting again and stabilising then It starts to root.. says sucess then quickly changes to say "Internal Error: failed to unlock NAND flash?"
It then stops there restarts the phone and has had no effect at all..
Any help will be wonderful

Try going into recovery mode and clear storage and then try unrevoked again
whats your radio version ? I recently did this on mine and it game me superuser but nand is still locked.
Heres what it says when i go into Hboot:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
Microp-031d
Touch Panel-synt0101
Radio-5.09.05.30_2

Are you trying to use Unrevoked forever? That only works on CDMA phones (no sim card). If you just want root and flash different roms normal Unrevoked is fine. To see if it went oke boot in to recovery and see if it says ClockworkMod recovery. If yes, everything is fine regarding rooting.
If after this you want to S-off and have a GSM (sim card) phone use AlphaRev.
Im using the version available from unrevoked.com which i belive is just unrevoked
As for booting into recovery i try that... all i get is the phone symbol with the red triangle and then dont get past that when i push power and vol up..

This man speaks the truth, unrEVOked forever won't work on the sim card Desire. I you should now have standard super user permissions. if you do want S-off you will need to go the alpha rev route.
tried using a diff version of unrevoked and this time it says failed to flash recovery image
I just went through all of this with my own phone a few days ago. from what I have learned and read Unrevoked will not give you Nand unlock.
Strange. I tried the latest unrEVOked (not forever) on my unbranded Desire, and did not have any errors like these (NAND unlock, unable to flash). I have:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
except the radio is 5.11.05.27
Hmmm could it be the radio causing the play up?

Maybe.
But i should give it a try. Download the latest unrEVOked from here:
http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/
Also make sure, you have correctly installed the HBOOT drivers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
I do definitely have the latest version of both of those..
Hi folks, absolute novice here.
Apologies for replying to a very old thread, but I am having the same issue here with unrevoked - I simply cannot get my HTC Desire rooted.

You've searched too far back
Use the guides here to explain everything better: http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/503471-desire-all-things-root-guide.html
Follow it all the way through particularly terminology etc. Everything you need to know is there
Then use the guide to 's-off' using revolutionary. It doesn't technically root but will fully unlock your bootloader which is more powerful.
Hi guys.
I have flashed numerous ROM's onto my desire, but never a radio.
Im not sure what I need, and what the risks are. All i hear is that its possible to brick flashing Radio's and a bricked desire is something I cannot afford to replace.
My desire, is running DeFroSt 6.0j.
Everything is running OK at the moment, but if I can improve, then I will

Just flash it like a ROM from CWM/AmonRA. I can assure you, if you download radios from here (with md5 checksums to verify them), nothing can go wrong.
Thanks for the reply. So the problem isnt the flashing of the radio, its a corrupt or infected radio file?
Yes, but as I said, if you get it from here, it will work.
Brill, thanks for the advice
Any idea what radio to use? Is there a way to pair a radio with a Rom?
Latest is OK, you can use it with any ROM.
Great. And finally.. what is the latest (is there a "latest radio" thread), does it work with all desire's and how do i check the MD5? (i understand what a checksum is, but have never worked with them before).
Posted the thread in my previous post (post #4). Latest radio is shown on top.
No MD5 in that thread, but I can guarantee that the latest will work (installed the same from there).
Thanks again!
The radio you're on is actually just as good as the latest one so you've no real need to change

can i downgrade hboot
can i do s off?
thanks a lot
with goldcard flash RUU and start rooting process again...
thanks for the help but unfortunately it does not work :-(
by saying goldcard rru flash, you mean to create an goldcard
and with the card inside, to install the official rru.
i tried rru 1.12 and 2.29 and they failed :-(
any ideas?
Read the Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794314 carefully and also the alpharev website http://alpharev.nl/. Hopefully u will get the answer.

No he won't. Alpharev or revolutionary don't support the new hboots, so you can't S-OFF, as far as I know there still isn't a way to downgrade, and you can't flash an older RUU since it won't let you. It was a stupid mistake of even using it in the first place.
so, there is no hope for me :-(
Hi Friends,
My friend gave me his desire (orange) but rooted. I want to unroot it.
This is what it shows in the Hboot screen

The issue is:
Gets into infinite boot loop on Htc Screen after flashing RUU .(used instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632)
After this if I try to place the zip PB99IMG.zip in the root of my sd card, it not even recognizes it :crying:. Am not sure how to continue from this point.
Can anybody out here help me.
I've used the following RUU - RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed
Thanks in advance.
