Hello All,
as all know that the beta version of Android ICS from SE has been already launched and there are some good custom roms also available on the forum. But one thing I dont understand. When I had saw the preview of ICS over the net around 3 months back, it showed different sub app drawers for applications and widgetsunder the main app drawer.. But now I dont see any of the roms are having these functionality? May I know y is this the case?
Edit : Check the attachment then u'll get to know wat I am talking about..
It depends only on the launcher. I have the stock ICS launcher and I get only the folders apps and widget.

Which launcher gives u facility to actually differentiate the widgets from the apps.?? I had seen a video some 3-4 months back which said that, if any app is having widget, the widget will be displayed under the Widgets part automatically. so that user can just long click and get it easily on the home screen..
Check this video...

The defy has 6. And a home page. Im not using two of them how do i remove them? Tmobile was no help. 2nd question is there something that can rotate my screen upside down. ? Thanks for reading
I'm not sure whether you can do it with the stock launcher (though you should be able to) but I know with LauncherPro you can choose the number of homescreens by pressing Menu, then Preferences > Homescreen Settings.
thanks
I gave it a shot it works well. However i just don't like the home icons. I like the ones that came with it. (3) call. The circle thing and contacts is there any way to get them with launcher pro?
Well, you can change the default icons long-pressing on them. Choose the default ones or find some nice icon online and change it
Thanks

Hi, I am using 2.2 and sometimes my device hangs and reboots itself. When i was in landscape befor then the homescreen is in landscape after auto- reboot. So technically landscape is possible, but how to switch its orientation by yourself is a other question.
Greetings
To make it go to landscape once ur in launcherpro hit the 4 square button then behavior then check auto rotate. U should b good.

Helllo
Just wondering if there is the ability to install the drop down icons that other phones like like LG and CyanogenMod have? IE the ones to turn off wifi/gps/data etc. They are above the drop down menu.
It's a major thing missing from my neo.
Cheers
Wrong section to be asking...
should ask in general
goto market and download "notification toggle" its the closest thing you will get at the moment
Thanks but cannot find it in the market. You thing with the amount of customisations Sony would realise this was important!
not sure why you could not find it
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
Ok thanks so I gather that is all ? Wow poor effort Sony starting to really regret this purchase
Thanks!

Widgetsoid is similar but getting the widget in your statusbar is a bit of a pain (there's a youtube instruction), but i think it's the closest you can get.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetsoid2-x/com.jim2
I'm using it, and at the moment it has a bug where the widget in the statusbar is clickable, but then shows up in your homescreen. afaik this bug is related to android 2.3.3 and is been worked on.
How to create Widgetsoid widget on notification pull down?
Create a Widgetsoid widget, go to "Advanced" and check "Notification". If you don't want to see widget on home screen check "Widget invisible"

I have confirmed that AppWidgetPicker work on ICS on Galaxy Nexus. If you are using a third party launcher. You should use AppWidgetPicker to better organize your widgets.
APK Link below.
That is all...

Push APK to your /System/App directory. Give all R/W permissions.
Someone should modify this for stock launcher. I can buy a coffee/beer for anybody who does

+1
Will definitely donate if someone gets this working on the stock launcher
Android's permission system means that apps cannot normally bind widgets themselves. (This is part of the reason you sometimes see missing widgets when you restore a launcher or WidgetLocker from Titanium Backup or similar). Instead the method third-party-apps use is to call another app (AppWidgetPicker, or a replacement for it like this one) which DOES have the permission because it's a system app (hence the unusual install process for this replacement).
The stock launcher is also a system app, and does have the needed permission to bind widgets itself. It's built to ONLY bind itself, rather than use a third party app. This means that the AppWidgetPicker replacement cannot be modified to make it work, however the launcher itself could be.
Curious, what don't you guys like about the widgets-in-drawer? The grid view versus the list, the lack of grouping-by-app compared with boombuler's mod? Both?

Yeah the lack of grouping by app is the worst thing, because certain apps have dozens of widgets and it takes ages to find the one you want. The iPhone style page-by-page side scrolling doesn't help either. I actually like how we can see previews of the widgets but the navigation is a bit of a nightmare right now.

Oh dear, there's a long list of reasons:
1. I now have 5 pages of widgets!!
2. It's visually shocking because everything is a difference size
3. You don't consistently get a view of what widgets will look like
4. It takes longer to get to and then find a widget
Add and app with 20 widgets built in and you'll see. It sucks in my opinion. We need a list based picker for sure, ideally one with a preview mode.
Since you're here... any chance WL can have an option to hide the soft keys on the Nexus so it runs full screen? Also the 'recent apps' button isn't deactivated by WL so it still pops up...
Thanks, works great with the new Nova launcher

Hi,
if you post my apps, please take at least the latest version...
Original thread + new version is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780828
Widget picker works with Jelly Bean 4.1 too as I've just tried it on my GNEX. Same procedure as the first post mentions.
Hi all,
just got a new Note 2 (7105) and havent been brave enough to mod it yet - but I cannot, despite looking at all the threads find a way to change the bottom row of icons that are always there - when i edit, that bottom row disappears. Any help for a 1 day old newbie convert from apple !
Just for sake of getting the experience you probably need, go to Google Play (you know, "app store"...) and install an alternative launcher like Nova. The limited version is free. Just go and toy arounf with all it's settings and learn...

will give it a try right now - thanks !
And if you run the original Samsung TouchWiz later, you find Sammy's settings as they were: free to go wild on your launcher layout..
Note'd too from my N7100...
