My wife's Dinc2, though rooted, is running stock 2.3.4. I'd love to get her on the Talk video chat app (I know there's Hangouts, but still) which has inexplicably been left out of stock 2.3.4 (confound them!). Anyone extracted a version that they know works ok?

Does anybody have any idea when the Samsung apps like Samsung remote will be updated so they work on the GN ?
Thanks Ross
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Probably not until the next version of Samsung's TouchWiz comes out with ICS on their other devices. Otherwise they have no incentive to update them to work on ICS because they won't have any devices running it.
Samsung isn't in charge of the apps on this device.
If I managed to get the apk for the app do you think it would work ?

Sure you could try but theres no guarantee it works as it should.
But like I said above you're never going to get these apps officially supported on these devices. The software comes from Google, not Samsung (unlike a SGSII, for example, which gets TouchWiz).
You can download samsung remote free from market

You can't if you are running ics it does not appear. If someone has a link to the apk that would be brilliant

Most of those Samsung apps require touchwiz, thus will FC out of the box.

This app can't require touchwiz I used to have it on my Desire HD

Not all, I was referring to the replacement apps that come bundled with touchwiz and some of the additional apps included.

See if you can use this link. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.samsung.remoteTV

Hey all.. since root/rom install I haven't been able to reinstall the Google music app. Market says its not available in Australia yet it was on my phone when I first purchased. Any ideas or links?

This worked for me when it didn't come with liquid smooth. Should be a link in (here) http://www.androidincanada.ca/news/google-play-music-4-1-513-download/

Sweet thanks! Worked a treat. I've been using liquid for a while now. How u finding it?

I thought the customization was great and it was snappy. But since my phone was like 7 days old I switched to unofficial CM9 I'll likely switch back soon though. I'm yet to settle for now.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Yeah true. Customization is great. I updated to v1.3 but its still a bit buggy. Back to 1.25 now. I haven't tried CM yet, from what I last saw its still missing a few basic functions.

I had this Sprint TV app that came with the EVO 3D and I was wondering if there was a way to get that app to work on the Galaxy Nexus since I would watch a lot of sports on it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Aw device is not supported... only other way would be to side load it. Search for the apk on xda. Or pull it from a stock deodexed sprint ROM for you evo.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
^ Nope, in fact you can even root without unlocking the bootloader and wiping your data

Are you the Guy over at Thunderbolt whose TB bit the dust?
Haha welcome, I think more GalNex owners had the Thunderbolt than any other phone, we just got hit so bad with waiting for ICS, none of us want that wait and uncertainty ever again.

Been playing with it all day, getting a feel for phone and battery. Ive git a 2350 battery in it i believe, and life seems pretty good. It did update to jb, and im amazed how fast phone is. If i had a good secure wifi tether, id almost not root, lol! Nah, i gotta see what this thing will do. Really liking so far though.

Should i update radios? Runnin liquid now, no 4g.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Do yourself a favor and if you haven't yet already learn adb and fastboot command lines there is no need for a toolkit for this phone. And to answer your radio question unlike the thunderbolt any radio combination works on any ROM you can update or change radios to see if they help you out but it shouldn't matter if you're getting 4g or not. Plus these roms never include radios..well from what I have seen all the radios can be flashed separately through the bootloader or some people have made flashable zips containing them.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
1. Get Gnex
2. Root/Unlock
3. Flash new radios
4. Flash new bootloader
5. Flash new ROM - I would vouch for Codename Android with Faux's kernel
that's my recommendation plan
Brace yourself, flash addiction is comimg.

It won't work right away, it will need some modifications in order to work on our Galaxy Nexuses, since the Touchwiz Gallery depends on the Touchwiz framework..
But, if someone is able to do it, +1, please!
But what if I flash that tw5 launcher zip which puts all the other tw apps?
