Does anyone know if there are any plans on getting CM7 working on the epic touch? I know there's a semi working port but anything else?

I suggest you try AOKP from the general forum. It's like cm9, but better with more customizations and sleeker looking.
However, I would wait till next release to flash it, it's still in alpha stage and some things don't work at the moment.
Also, you should follow instructions to the dot when going from GB to a CM/AOKP ROM - it's easy to brick your phone if you don't know what you're doing. I recommend watching qbking's videos, he does a good job of explaining the process.
Sent from my Galaxy S II, AOKP style.
There is a working cm7 on the rootzwiki forums. Just Google for the forums and you can get there. It hasn't been updated since mid January though but does work pretty well.

Nope that, is cm9 not cm8 ..... 8 was never made because they never released the source to honeycomb.

I suppose.
I'd be worried about seeing ICS source code.
They seem to imply it's ''made perfect for this device'' which is the same crap reason that Honeycomb source was never released.
Only if it helps port MIUI...other than that completely pointless and ugly as sin....
How about starting a pool to entice some developers with the proper know-how to this phone?
I'm definitely willing to put in some mulla if it means getting CM on this beast!
Is this still accepted on XDA? I used to see a lot of those in the past but nothing recently...

His phone will keep telling him to update until he actually runs the update, or at least tries to (it obviously wont work if you are running a custom ROM). Just because his phone is telling him to update, doesn't necessarily mean it's better. I'm going to go ahead and agree with everyone else on here and say CM9 is amazing. The only reason I haven't gotten the EL30 modem and flashed CM9 (I have tried it and its awesome) is because i use the hotspot hack on my other ROM and 4g wifi tethering doesn't work on CM9 yet. Most people don't care about that issue so I'd definitely say forget looking for a EL30 ROM and go straight for CM9.
There are not many roms based on el30 yet, and to be honest, its not that great of an update. Cm9 is now available, but still had some bugs to get worked out. For now I would strongly advise starskyrom mtd v2.0, or marcusant v3. Its all about personal taste, and roms perform differently for every device.

Is CM7 just not fast enough? Do you want to get better performance? With less CPU Frequency?

Lol, no, the T989 is my primary phone, but I still have my HTC G2 as well, and that has "unofficial" CM9 running on it. Would be great to have it on this phone, as it's really difficult switching back to such a small screen when I want to enjoy some MIUI, AOKP, CM9, AOSP ICS, etc...
But I still love that little phone with a physical keyboard, dammit
EDIT: Just thought about calling the G2 little. I remember when I thought it was the perfect phone size. Now, I can't imagine ever going back to that size screen for primary every day use, lol!

It would be neat, but the community was already fooled by someone who promised this once already and I would imagine no one will donate for this to happen until after it actually happens.

Reading your post about porting it,it sounded as if you had a fully functioning build.Good luck with it,it'll be nice to have more development for this phone...what nexus device was it for, gnex or nexus s?

The fact you just joined the site looks fishy (No offense, I'm just a paranoid person). At least you aren't asking for donations. If you can do it, do it. if you can't, oh well. I will say this though, you have better luck trying to port sense 2.1, 3.x... It has been confirmed that sense 4.x does not play well with samsung devices and many other devices as it is in this current state.
My personal opinion is; It'd be nice to have more options on this device because the reality is, this device is fast, fluid, and has a lot of possibilities! I feel as if I should have gotten a nexus device sometimes but sprint always fails to get the latest nexus devices by months...
