Youll regret sprints data speeds (unless your in the lucky .000005% that get advertised 3g speeds)
But youll also be happy anout no throttling!
You wont this phone is a beast. Our ICS leaks are pretty stable and official is coming soon. Welcome here man!!

First post
Hi, first time poster, trying to earn my stripes as they say. I"ve had my E4GT for about month and have been patrolling these forums for last several weeks, following along with the daily ICS leaks and then Steady's repacks, etc..I specifically see JC's posts in very timely and helpful manor and I've appreciated his follow up comments and humor as well. Just a quick shout, I've noticed it a lot.
Anyway, I'd like to post here and there in the Dev section and says you have to have a certain amount of posts in the more "general" forums, so this is that first attempt. Hope to see more of you in the Devs sections.
Love this phone, I came from an OG droid that was awesome and worked over and flashed to all hell so this little upgrade is sweet sauce.
I change from T-Mobile to Sprint back at the beginning of September and honestly where I'm at I have very little problems. You won't regret the phone however as you can see in the dev section we do have ICS builds and from looks it's getting pretty close to an OTA push. The SGS2 alone is one beast of a phone "old" or not as some would call it this phone is great.

Not true for all I average 600k and I get 4g. There is not a better phone to get right now. And there is not a better plan to get if you actually use data.

I have to agree with everyone here. This phone is a beast. I have the black one and the white one..and I like them both. But I rock the white one for its beauty. I call it my "Snow Powder"..lol.
I was at a little get together earlier, happened to pull out my Snow Powder and all eyes turned at me. People was like "wtf is that..is that a phone...that is nice as hell" They were all stunned at the screen the lightness of it and everything. I felt like I was in a samsung commercial...lol

I made a Similar jump back in October my only regret is the data speeds. Sprints network sucks plain and simple from sucky data to dropped calls. but the phone it's self is a beast!!! You won't kick yourself over it... Hopefully your lucky like me and have 4G almost everywhere you go.
Welcome, I've had mine for a week now, actually I think I finished rooting and flashed my first rom about this time last Saturday, and I'm loving it. I have no problems with data and the speed that apps load compared to my EVO 4G are phenomenal.

I bought my one month ago. I purchase mine on craigslist for $325.00 and it is worth it so I did not waste my upgrade and I can still buy the latest phone when it comes out. In my opinion with the LTE phone coming out soon it was not worth an upgrade.
It's a great phone but pretty much unusable in my area unless I can connect to wifi.

Agreed.
Though already the first thing I noticed was how nice and civil people were...and even when there was a hint of people getting confrontational everyone has been polite and apologetic. We are, after all, here for the same reason.
The way the E3D forum went down was a breeding ground for, well, exactly what it became. The forum was opened a month and a half before the device released. Add in the unlock debacle. Even worse was the fact that after HTC backed down on locking it made it seem like being rude and trolly and confrontation worked...and that was infused with the massive numbers of Hero owners coming off of contract and a massive number of us yearly upgraders getting ready for the EVO4Gs successor. Sprinkle on top the unlocking debacle and drama surrounding AlphaRevX and TeamWIN that had nothing to do with AlphaRevX or TeamWIN...for a while. Then the fact that the Sensation was a nearly identical device with not identical development and seemed like extra dev attention--regardless of the fact that everything went back and forth very quickly, that bread epic ****-tons of butthurt amongst the massive amounts of people who were already pissed on, pissed off, angry and ready to fight before the phone was even released and, well, it isn't surprising. It was sad.
I gotta say I love all you guys already.

The thing I am so amazed at, is how far Android has come along in such a short time.
My first Android was the MyTouch 3G, which was very clunky and choppy, and just a couple years later I am holding this awesome Galaxy SII with 4.5" AMOLED screen that is razor thin and very lightweight.
Wow Android has come a long long way compared to those first year devices.

Definitely a great phone. Cant wait for what the future of android and the galaxy line holds. But a family member had his Nexus and I feel so much better. I'm very happy with this phone. I haven't even rooted it yet and I'm not sure I have a reason to. Yet? lol
My only gripe is the slipperyness of the back cover. I have a case on order so I hope that will help it.

That's very sleek. If it's real it'll be one more reason to give the SG3 a hard look when (if ever) it comes out.
Yea. It looks almost too sleek. Like a touch screen remote or something. Its a serious stretch from what we've seen. But with the advancements this phone is supposed to usher in.....its almost kinda fitting. My OG Epic line is up in October.
Hopefully that's enough time for it to get jerked around by sprint and have a decent rumor on a release date.....

Looks like its gonna be made with aluminum and ceramic maybe? Looks like it could be the real deal tho the invite date is right afaik, the only problem is the US variant won't make it here til sometime end of 3rd or 4th quarter since Sammy didn't let this one out of the cage til September I don't see them dropping another flagship device less than 12 months from the last especially since the epic 2 is coming this summer which is basically our phone with LTE instead of wimax, but most of the specs are very similar otherwise

Honestly I could see them dropping it sooner. While the Epic 2 is known about it's pretty much a refresh of the Epic that is already there and no it's not a Epic Touch it's the Epic with the keyboard so it's the update to that model nothing more and with better specs. I could see Sammy dropping this on everyone if what they said was true about wanting to release it world wide in 1 shot instead of how the GS2 was released where people pretty much had to wait almost a year to get their hands on it (outside of the GSM version)
Also that looks like the back of the phone as many have said in that posting. I tend to agree with it as well but seriously if that really is it....Shut up and take my money please now!!!!

Why don't people just wait it out until the S3 or something... are these people paying full, off-contract price for their new phones?

I think that --
1: most people are on an HTC device or SGS2, and

I'm not abandoning my Epic, it's worth more to keep than to sell... but I'm running out of things to do with it. And apparently I'm running out of users to share with. My files downloaded are at half the rate they were just 3 months ago.
There's even less questions to answer (repetitive or not), most discussion is on new devices rather than the Epic 4G... Yes, lot's of users, are, have, and likely always will pay the full price rather than waiting a couple of months to subsidize most of the cost. I don't have that freedom of flowing cash... so here I wait for my upgrade to arrive.
I still have 140 days or so for my upgrade discount, the lady has about 40. I'll still be around for a bit. Even after my upgrade I'll be checking in as I plan on letting my daughters use these 2 epics as wifi devices for games, music, and netflix.

But I have to say, Marcus raises an interesting question; I spend quite a bit of time in the OG Evo forums (having had as many as 3 on my acct, once upon a time) and I still see a lot of activity over there. And that phone turned 2 on June 4! But they also still seem to have a lot of development going on. New devs have come on to replace the originals. If Kenny hadn't stepped up to make TPR, we'd have only 1 dev left (Random) who does TW development.

I have a confession to make to you.
Cyan, I cheated on you... And it wasn't pretty. I'm so sorry but I thought that the grass was greener on the other side and as it turns out, those other roms only held false hopes. They were all dressed up in lacy red lingerie, with their big boobs all hanging out but inside they were empty and unstable.
Let me explain what happened and maybe you will understand and hopefully forgive me for my transgression.( too much drama?)
(not yet? ok)
So I bought the GNex on Verizon the day it came out and went straight home to unlock/root it. Despite all the negative opinions I read, at first, I was really happy with it. It was the beginning of a crackflash addiction that has lasted for almost two years. Since then, I've flashed every rom out there, and there were some that I really liked.
v.4.0 (ics) was like the girl next door that was a little nerdy and homely looking so you didn't pay much attention to then one day you see her in Kroger (or whatever your local grocer is called) and she's all grown up and she's dropped dead sexy but still in that nerdy looking way with like glasses and everything. It offered a lot of new things and the things devs were doing to get the best user experience out of their roms gave me hope that I wouldn't have to buy a new phone for a while (cuz frankly, phones are way too damn expensive). And I really liked my phone and showing off to my envious *iphone friends what my phone can do.
Then came Jelly Bean.
I thought at first that I should go back to stock and wait for Verizon to release it but that is like waiting for that girl next door to become legal. so I went with one of the first releases from one of the major roms (I won't name any names) and at first everything looked okay.
I should back up a sec,
One of the major flaws in the VGNex is the radios and from the start it was plagued with issues as I'm sure most people know. So one of the reasons I like being rooted is that when a new radio is released I could try it out and see if it worked for me. Eventually, Verizon or somebody solved that issue and my phone was okay being on stock. However, after JB was released, I noticed that pretty much any rom I was running I would have tons of issues, mostly related to my network signal or Wifi or both. sometimes GPS was non-existent, and other times it was bluetooth.
That is until I found Cyan.
Cyanogen you are the greatest thing that ever happened to my phone. I started using your rom a little over a month ago ( which is the longest I've ever ran a rom) and it's weird because I didn't like you all that much when I first tried you out on my original Dinc. You never are feature packed and so I thought that was a negative. How naive i was back then.
Since that time I have been extremely pleased with how my phone behaves and I really thought I found the one. Days would go by and I wouldn't even get on XDA or Rootzwiki to check if there were any updates or anything I might be interested in trying.
Everything worked and other than a few occurrences where I noticed a little lag which was fixed by wiping chache/dalvik, I never noticed anything that prompted me to look outside our relationship. But I do have wandering eyes and I started to notice other roms that had some pretty cool features and I thought that maybe I could look and not touch. But we all know how hard it is to navigate the adulterous waters.
I should say that I'm not trying to bash other roms. I honestly think that maybe it is just the 'one' phone I got and it only works on stock and Cyanogen, Which I admit, would be a weird flaw to have in a phone. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing.
Maybe there was a memo that I overlooked.
All I know is that the last few days without you have been a whirlpool of frustration and desperation. I almost cried earlier when I pulled my phone out and it wouldn't power off because the last 24 hours it was constantly freezing up on me. I can't stand not having GPS or have it only work sometimes because it always seems the times I need it to work it wants to act up and make my phone look like a old man that needs Viagra. The signal is super frustrating too because not only does it not want to connect to anything when I need it but it's also a huge battery drain.
It makes me regret ever making that horrible decision to hurt you. I'm sorry I betrayed your trust in me. I never want to relive those horrible days again. The shame and guilt was... (okay, was that too much? alright.)
The point is, Thank you Cyan for being a true dependable light that I can count on, no matter what happens. And I hope that when I do upgrade my phone it's on one that you are supporting , or else I might just stay with this one until death does us part. (now, just stop it)
Thanks for listening and I hope this funny little story doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. I don't want to make anyone think that other roms aren't good or stable. My experience is exactly that so it might be a different experience for someone else. I also want to thank all the devs out there for making my half-baked/Verizon Nexus as fun as it could be without actually being a true Nexus device.
Thats the greatest love story. Better love story than twilight. Good job.
