Im finaly home. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

It took me a while to get here but im back to verizon and i gots the ice cream sandwich
i started out with the evo 4g on sprint i switched to them to get it cause there plans were cheaper they replaced it 10 months later with the evo 3d through insurance. it was a nice phone but the sprint network has piss poor data and no 4g in phoenix az so i got them to kick me off when they changed the contract on people with employe discounts, i flashed the Phone to cricket thinking i could deal with the **** network as-long as the price was cheep well that wasn't the case either so i sold that device. i bought the galaxy s2 from tmobile and while it was a nice device and the hsdpa + was super fast anytime i when inside a building it switched two 2g and i started missing calls. so i took that phone back after 7 days.
i realized then that i wasn't going to be happy till i made it back to verizon even though the cost would be more i knew it would be worth it.
so i purchased the razr impulse buy they were out of nexus a few days later i had buyers remorse so i went back to the store and returned it for the nexus the prize gem.
so here i am back with verizon loving it and cant wait to make my self at home in the new sub community of xda
thats my story and i felt the need to share

Thanks for sharing.

Welcome back. I also left sprint last month cuz of there crappy data and them changing the plan. I love Verizon compared to sprint.

Galaxy Nexus worth upgrading to?

I have Sprint and I'm due for an upgrade in about 2 weeks, so I was hoping the lovely people of XDA could tell me if the Galaxy Nexus is worth using the upgrade discount, or if I should go for another phone/carrier.
Right now I have the Nexus S 4G, which is great, I'm just curious if there are any known issues with the Sprint Galaxy Nexus, or any bugs, etc.
Thanks in advanced
i think galaxy nexus is very much better than nexus s, definitely it's worth to upgrade.
There are many people who have issues with the screens being grainy and ghosting. You will give up 4g for quite a while as well. I've read quite a bit about the phone's data connection dropping although I've never encountered it.
I would honestly hang on to the upgrade/end of contract until we find out whats going to be happening with the next Nexus phone.
My opinion is to drop Sprint and roll your own plan. I know it can be different for everyone, but for my area Sprint was horrible and costly. I mean the cheapest post paid, but man prepaid is so much better.
With Sprint in the area I live and work Sprint use to be great. But more recently it's the worst. Mog skips like crazy. miss calls. The speeds were horrible. At work I asked to speed test my co workers phones. One Verizon and one att. They destroyed my speed. I was, at best, getting 300k they were between 1000 to 3000k. And they were not on lte. Just 3g, and they have older phones. I had the sgs2 at the time. Well anyways I dropped Sprint and went with prepaid plans. Now I have service in more area and its FAST. And half the price. I know,I know you have unlimited data. But how often do you go over 2gb a month ? Check out you history on the Sprint page. It will tell you how much data you used for the last 6 months. I was surprise d how little data I use. But I am in Wi-Fi when at work and home so I guess the only time I use the network is while commuting.
Once again this was best for me. Maybe not for you. But after the trouble I had with Sprint, then having to fork over a ton of money to get away, I must say I am now saving 800 a year, and free.
Sprint has no responsibility to provide you cell phone service. In the contract you sign it never states that they have to give you anything, but you will have to pay every month for 2 years. Crazy.
Sorry for the rant.
Buy the gsm gnex. It's not much more then the newest phones after the discount. Or stay on Sprint, wait until November and see what the next nexus will be. then buy that one.

Galaxy nexus is a great upgrade from NS4G! And if you love Vanilla Android its truly the only way to go. Jelly bean is an amazing reason to get one and you're looking at months and months til any other phones aside from Gnex that are running official jellybean updates. Just my opinion. I have had every Nexus phone to date. I really don't care for skinned Android phones. Its not about the hardware for me. Its more about the development support and development lifespan of the device. And the Nexus line usually gets the most dev love.
I don't feel another Nexus phone may launch as usual this winter...as with history the Nexus usually drops with the newest version of Android. Nexus 7 and Q came out with Jellybean so unless Key Lime Pie is due out this year Google may keep it in the bag until then.

Get rid of sprint and get a real gnex.
Hey you stole my sig!
Yes and no...
The GNex is an awesome device, so it's definitely worth the upgrade. I would pick the GSM GNex tho. In fact I would choose the GSM GNex over any other Android phone that is currently available, including the SGS3. So if you can't wait, the GNex is the only way to go, imo.
But if I had the Nexus S already, I would probably consider waiting for the next Nexus. I don't know about the 4G version but it seems the regular Nexus S will get JB sometime soonish. It's still a nice device.
Ive been mulling this over too.
Currently on the S2. Thinking of changing to the Gnex. Can get a Gnex in the UK for roughly £250, the S2 could sell between £200/250.
Its tempting just for JB

Getting my THIRD sprint Galaxy nexus on wednesday...

Hey guys... I got my first sprint galaxy nexus a week ago and it started giving me problems with the settings app force closing no matter what I did.
Got my second galaxy nexus last Wednesday to replace that one. After sprint activated and I left the store, it started giving me serious reception problems since text messages would come in late (3hour delay) and couldn't make calls from places where I have a good signal and my other sprint phones work just fine.
Went to the store on Thursday and the tech said my PRL was outdated and that it was a network issue on their part. Bull****, my Epic 4g touch and Evo 4g had zero problems.
I left hoping what they said was true and went home. the issues started again, my sister had left her keys and needed me to open the door for her at 1am after a party while I was sleeping. My phone didn't ring at all so she had to go to her friends house to spent the night. Her text messages from 1am that night came in at 9 am. I was extremely pissed and went to the store again on Friday. The tech said that my phone was fine and was receiving test messages he sent from his personal iphone 4s.
I called the manager today and he was sorry, to make things better he offered me a different phone.... a LG VIPER.
I asked if he was joking, he said no. I told him only a fool would take that offer and demanded something WORTH my $11 monthly insurance.
He said the LG viper 4g lte is the compareable model to my phone. I said sure, a crappy LCD, less storage, android 2.3 and $399 MSRP compared to the nexu's $549.99 MSRP.
After arguing he finally agreed to get me another refurbished nexus...
We'll see how it goes now
sorry to hear of your troubles.
i gotta laugh at the lg viper as the equiv tho haha. did you call him a noob and to learn his phones so customers dont walk in with more knowledge than the sales reps?
I raged at him for it and explained the differences step by step... I can't believe he's actually a manager -,-
at least he didnt say "youre holding it wrong" >.<
Yup. Its amazing to see how companies hire people to sell their product without any knowledge. Wednesday can't come fast enough.
On the plus side, Juice Defender ultimate has kept my battery charged from 6am to 10pm Despite all the issues I've had, I'm loving my Galaxy Nexus. Sprint... not so much.
Go to year 9080 and get a Falaxy Gexus
Sorry to hear about your problems with your Galaxy Nexus. That's why people need to stop buying into contracts and go prepaid.

I have had my Verizon galaxy nexus from day one launch. Starting to see lots of reception problems on a trip from San Diego to San Francisco in the car. My state of the art 4G lte phone is getting its ass handed to it by a 3g droid x2 that my wife is rocking. Maybe its the phone maybe its the service but I have came to the conclusion that all these phone company are racking in the cash while we customers suffer what happened to the days when products were pulled off the shelf when they were bad getting a refurbished phone is outrageous after paying almost 400 dollars for a phone on contract we all need to return our phones and cancelled our contracts and just get prepaid until these people start running there companies right

[Q] [Question] Do I get the Sprint Galaxy Nexus?

Nexus 4 not an option, so what do I do now?
Here's my question: Sprint Galaxy Nexus owners, do I buy it, or should I get something else.
I really want AOSP. I'm really tired of physical and capacitive buttons. I currently have the SGSII Epic 4G Touch. I want a Google phone.
So, has this phone lived up to your expectations? What do you hate about it? Is it just freaking awesome? Ready? GO!
I'm kind of in the same position as you, I cannot get the Nexus 4 on VZW. I'm really not upset about it, I'm very happy with the Gnex, especially on CM10. Can't speak for Sprint but as for the phone I'm still happy with it after 8 months, and plan to keep it for the foreseeable future.:good: Like you said, its hard to go wrong with AOSP.
How's your battery life? My E4GT has been nothing been a pain, battery-wise.
Battery life is not great. I'm using the OEM extended battery and I still have to have a charger at work.
Drop your sprint contract (is it close to expiring?) if you can. Sell your epic 4g touch and switch to straight talk and buy a nexus 4. I used to have an e4gt flashed on virgin mobile and the sprint service I got was horrible. My new set up is much better. Also your monthly bill savings will make up for the cost of the phone fast.

I've been considering that, but my savings would be negligible since we're on a family plan. Also, since I get to be selfish and take everyone's upgrades, I'll be able to hand-me-down the Galaxy Nexus when something cool comes out... I'm so lost! I really have been seriously considering just buying the damn Nexus 4 and shopping other plans off contract. Is it really that much better?
...and, Target has the GNex for $49.99 right now.
I just bought a Sprint Galaxy Nexus and have right now an Epic 4G Touch! I am sure it'll be worth it. I bought it for around 225 off contract and ill sell this for around 150$ so it's like I spent only 70 bucks. I wouldn't panic. If you wanted a new phone you can sell the Gnex since it'll still hold its value. Waiting has got me nowhere and I know the Nexus 4 isn't coming to Sprint any time soon. Good luck!

I got the GNex with sprint this August.. I love this phone. The curved screen, so much dev support, Google support. Well, kinda. I been rooted since day one so always been on custom ROMs and kernels. My battery last all day with 4 hr screen on time with the extended battery that Sprint gives you for free. I say if you have LTE in your city go with the GNex. We have LTE here in San Antonio and it just keeps getting better and better. I don't know why people keep on hating on sprint, I have awesome service here.

I made a move on this deal over the weekend. Also picked up the HTC One for my wife. We're moving to TMo from Sprint and looking forward to it.

Just got this deal but after trying all day (website was down, CS having issues processing Sprint port order) the Note 3 is on backorder. Was hoping to get it before I leave for Vegas Thursday but at least I got the deal

I got myself a Note 3. And got my buddy a G2 and put him on my account. I spent like 100$, plus 30$ for one of the invisishield full body protector things for my nexus. Not too shabby.
I also got myself a Nexus 5 last week which was 107$ after tax. Now they are on sale for 0$ down and there's a promo code to get like 30 or 40$. Should a waited. But I love that phone so it was worth it.

I would go for it bro. I previously had it on Verizon before switching to T-Mobile so I could get the Nexus 5. Which is the only phone I dig more then the Note 3 and Nexus 4. Got the nexus 5 about a week ago now and I saw the deal on the Note 3 yesterday so went and got one for myself. Its kinda weird having two phones. Like I said I like the Nexus more but I can't resist the awesomeness of the note 3 as well.
So that should tell you how great it is and that it's worth getting now. Normally I would never rock two phones at once. And this time around I can actually do some mods and flash custom Roms to the Note 3 unlike when I had it for Verizon.

What plan did you guys use to get that phone price? The phone was cheaper but the plan was $10 more a month than what I have now.

I ust did the same thing. Got so fed up with Sprint's BS service. **** you Sprint!!!
Lol I just got me a note 3 last Friday and left Sprint for T-Mobile as well looks like everybody is tired of the mess and I work for them!!! But couldn't have picked a better device soo in love!
Sprint sucks
Everyone and their mom's leaving Sprint for T-Mobile? Lol count me in to the club, I just got my Sprint account termination letter due to excessive roaming. Me and my wife are very interested on getting this phone but we missed on the cyber Monday deal. My sprint service is set to be disconnected on December 26, I hope they have another sale on the note just around that time.
How much speeds difference have you guys seen between Sprint and T mobile?

In the end the phone will probably be around the same price, just zero down vs 100 $ or so down.
There is someone over at the anandtech forums that has a Tmo GN3 for 550$.
Left Sprint as well for tmobile. Speeds are way faster than what Sprints Lte service was in NYC.
Got the Note 3 during the cyber Monday deal.
Was with Sprint for 8 years but it was time to finally move on.

Snagged the T-Mobile Note 3 on the Cyber Monday deal and am loving it. Switched from Verizon to stop overpaying for data.
If you didn't get the deal for Cyber Monday (or the whole weekend for that matter), the T-Mobile in our area seems to ALWAYS be running sales or specials. You may be able to snag it at Christmas, if your willing to play their game a little. Some minor customer coercion/pity can go a far way, even if they aren't currently offering it.

Switching to T-Mobile tonight

Hey all..
So as the title suggests, I am making the switch to T-Mobile. Coming from Sprint. Figured I would attempt to acclimate myself with the T-Mo Note 3 community.
I hope that everyone is having a great New Year so far.

Good choice man.
I switched from sprint about 7 months ago.
They were so bad, hadn't even had normal 4G when I switched.
And guess what? They still don't give 4G in my city.
Rather, T Mobile has had 4G LTE in my town for a long time.
Plus they're about 10 bucks cheaper.
Probably never switching again lol.

I came from sprint too. Best move ever.
I just switched from Verizon last night.
Im in CocoaBeach,Fl... I must say, im quite impressed with the data speed.
Yeah, it sucks because I've been with Sprint for almost 10 years. Had the HTC Hero when it 1st came out lol. Glad I'm switching though. Because I'm doing a family plan with my Fiance', we are both saving about $20 a piece. I'm also switching from the S4 to the Note 3. How are you all liking the Note 3?
Switched from att 2 days ago. Saved 180 bucks total MONTHLY on my family plan. Couldn't be happier. Welcome to tmobile!

Yeah, I came from VZW on Friday and been with them since the mid 90's. I was weary of the Tmo coverage in my area and its as good but Tmo has been faster in the area so I'm very happy with the switch. I had an old Bionic so i used that as my trade in so they would pay off my ETF and i was able to keep my S4. It still has the MDK original firmware so it will sell for a good price on Swappa when i post it. Note 3 upgrade, unlocked bootloader and unlimited data I'm just sorry it took me this long!
