Can't find the scheduling of push peak and off peak emails - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I can't seem to find the schedules for push so I don't have push enabled during off peak hours. It could be right in front of me but I don't see where to set that on the Galaxy Nexus. I'd prefer to have my phone only check every 30 minutes between 9PM and 6 AM.

Someone in another forum claims it is there but I don't see it.

Corporate - exchange. I imagine there has to be a way as it was availble on my last 2 android devices but maybe that was done by HTC and Samsung.

Well.. you can't set it to "automatically do every 30 min from x to x" (from what I know) but you can do it manually every night under email ---> sync options --> check frequency (30 min)

Thanks. Bummer - it is a shame that it was available on the last two android phones I had but no longer in the latest.

I dont think stock android ever had that feature. You prob had a skinned android phone.

Push Email Scheduler

Is it possible to schedule my push email to work only at certain times?
I.e. I need to keep my phone on at night (not silent) but I dont want the email sound going off every hour or so.
Thanks in advance
Ian
yup, go into active sync, select menu - schedule and set your peak and off peak times.
I have mine set to push between 6.30am and 10pm, and then manually pick up emails the rest of the time (in case someone tells me that they've sent me a mail and I want to collect it)
on top of that I've got Phonealarm disabling this when I'm in the office as I don't need emails pushed to my device when I'm sitting at my desk!!

Push Internet: Does it work properly in your device?

Hello Fellow
I just don't get it. In my opinion I have set up my device properly, but I can't get the pushed pages firmly: sometimes pages will be updated according the Schedule Settings but mostly it won't.
I have scheduled the device updating the pages every 1 hour. Somehow the device is being updated the pages just once or twice per day
Set Up:
- The device is Hard Reseted
- Menu: Schedule settings: every weekday selected, start time 6:00, end time 23:00, Frequency: every 1 hour
- Menu: Data settings: Push Internet and Roaming ON
- Communication: Data Connection ON
- HSDPA network set up and OK, Wifi connection OFF
- ROM: 1.19.414.1 (51489) wwe 06/22/09
Do you have same sort of problems or am I just only one? Do you have any idea what's wrong? Is it just ROM bug...
Any help is appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Illodin
You're not the only one with these issues. Sometimes it works as per the settings, ie every 6hrs and other times it just does it when it pleases.
Worked great for me until recently. Now it doen't update anymore. Wonder what made it change it's mind...
same problem here - sounds like a bug
didnt work for me either, and operator 9.5 crashes. now using opera 9.7, and all the handy things like landscape and zoom are broken too.
Be careful with notification queue and Push Internet
Pust internet gave me and others quite some problems with the notification queue.
It loads many duplicates a day. Even switched off.
I ended up with 150 dups in a few days which slows down your system.
So my advice is to switch Push Internet really off via the registry only.
See here how.

Mine too, but only with pop/imap account. Push mail works fine with exchange. So, I use SEVEN with "real push" support for my yahoo and gmail account.

How choose several mails in Gmail?

In Gmail - how can I choose several emails in one go, to either delete them all or mark them all as read? Its bit frustrating to go throught the mails one by one... Any one knows how to do it?
You press on the tick on the left hand side of the message.
You press the MENU button while in GMail, and you get the option to delete a bunch in one go. I had this problem when I first used the Desire lol.
ok...
Thanks works great when I need to delete!
I still need to do it for those I want to 'mark as read'... there is no tick on the left!
Thanks

Either you are missing the obvious or you have some sort of messed up version of Gmail there's always been a tick on the left to select Emails, right from Android 1.0

I was using a different widget that has all mails alwaus open on the scene. Switched it now to the other u referred to.. works ok. Thanks
Slightly off topic, but related to this one.
Does anyone know how to multiple select email that has sync'd from Exchange? The standard mail app doesn't seem to offer this, or I'm going blind
Thanks
Dae
I actually decided to go back to the HTC mail widget as it gives notification for incoming Google mail... but its bit irritating as you cant choose several emails as in the above mentioned GMAIL app. Hope someone could figure it out!!
This is similar I use at moment:

There's no setup for it because it's push... probably much better for the battery than checking every x amount of minutes. You just get an email pushed to the phone when you get a new one.
That sounds cool... but how can I disable that for night time? When I got the phone there was a setup somewhere (lost it now!) where you can choose peak and non peak time updates - wonder if that can be used for Gmail?
Thanks
just turn the internet off at night time.
add the widget to the home screen and switch it to off when you go to bed.
from the home screen, menu>add to home>widget>settings>mobile data
So there's no way to select multiple/all emails for delete/'mark as read' using the HTC mail app?
I'd like to know this aswell, I havnt found a way either

no, i don't think the HTC Mail application does not give you an option to select many emails at once.
its silly really lol specially in the morning when I have around 12 rubbish emails from overnight

You can select multiple emails for deletion in the exchange mail app. Just select menu>delete and you then get selection boxes next to all your messages

Push email on the google mail application?

I've set up my gmail account with my htc desire and can access my emails fine using the Google mail application (the one with a red M in an envelope). However, to test the push email function, I emailed myself from another account. On my pc, the email arrived instantly, but my desire didn't notify of a new message till almost 15 minutes later.
Is there a setting somewhere that i might have missed - to enable retrieval of emails as they arrive?

Were you using wifi? Push is really crap over wifi on the desire, the only time I get the push email instantly is when I use mobile data instead.
I was having the same problem and think that it doesnt allow push.
I then set ot up in exchange activesync but im worried about battery life :

Hope that is of some use.

Yeah I always use mobile data too. I hardly ever use wifi unless I'm downloading something big to my phone such as copilot maps.
Anyway, I've set it up with activesync now and push is working flawlessly. Sometimes I get notified of emails before they even arrive on my pc.

hot-fuzz, I'm gonna start tomorrow with a full charge and have active sync running all day. I'll post my findings here if I observe dramatic decrease in battery life.
got it set up on the one i am using and it seems to work just fine. Emails appear on the phone within seconds of arriving at Gmail.
I do sometimes get periods where it is a bit slower though, i think generally when in a bad signal area where i only have 2G. I'm guessing when it has lower signal or only 2G, it may slow down the checking to save battery power or bandwidth or something....

That would be very useful. Thinking of doing it myself.
If i have mine setup for every 5 minutes thats 13 times every hour (including on the hour). I need to know if exchange polls take up more battery than checking 13 times an hour, if i get less than 13 emails an hour via exchange (which i do).
hmmmmm
Be interesting what peoples findings are on battery life and different ways to grab email.
I want to get back to the main topic.
I came from HTC Hero where Gmail push (in the gmail app) worked perfect - also on the 2.1 custom roms.
Not on the Desire it does not push the mails instantley. I don't want to go the way over the HTC Mail app...
Anyone has an idea how to fix it?

Gmail?

Hi all, does anyone know how to change the frequency that gmail checks for new mail on galaxy nexus? Getting the email alert wayyy too often, want to set it to hourly checks.
Thanks
Gmail is a push email service. As soon as an email is received by your Gmail account your phone will beep. Personally I don't mind this so I'm not sure how to turn it off.

On iPhone 4 it can be set in two different ways: as Gmail where you can change how often it check for new email or Exchange, where it pushes mails to your device instantly as they arrive.
I do believe same two options are present on Android which is pure Google OS.
The other way is to set it up as an imap account with the check interval set to an hour - but I'm not sure whether if it sees a push capable server it'll just use that anyway.. it does on my imap account.
Could always just turn off notification sounds and check it manually for yourself.
Or turn off automatic Gmail sync, and sync manually when you want e-mail.
Cheers for the replies guys, looked a bit more around since the OP so I'm happy with what I can do now...thanks again
