The battle so far...
Earlier today I was just using my phone as usual, couldn't remember which app I was using, it froze and suddenly rebooted. When the lock screen came up, after 10 seconds or so, it rebooted again! In the next dozen reboots, I tried many things in that 10 seconds window, but nothing worked. So I went into recovery and did factory reset.
After reset, it came up fine, but couldn't connect to my works EAP wifi, stucks at obtaining IP. I thought it was just some wifi issue. I got home and tried the wifi, still doesn't work, stuck at obtaining IP address! Did google search and people with other android phones suggest factory reset (which I did earlier), so I reset again, wifi still doesn't work. Did some search in XDA GN forum and couple people suggest rebooting router, did that but still same thing!
Any other suggestions? I can't believe I'm having so many issues with latest official Google phone!
EDIT: it was all working before it first froze and rebooted. it was stock 4.0.2 yakju
EDIT 2: got frustrated and used GN toolkit to reflash stock 4.0.2 image, working again...

Hi guys,
Have hit a problem. So yesterday unlocked bootloader and rooted fine no problems. Yesterday i ran a rom backup with cwmr and all worked fine. Today i had made some changes so ran another rom backup from cwmr. When it rebooted to do the backup i got a red exclamation mark on the anrdoid belly and it went no further so just pulled the battery and it rebooted ok. Tried the ROM backup 2 more times but each time same problem. My issues now is that the internet wont work over the carrier network since this red exclamation mark. Wifi internet works fine. When i run a ping test from within phone info *#*#info*#*# i get ip add not reachable http client test fail ioexception
Has anyone any ideas? If i do a reset factory data from the handset would that help?
Sounds like you need to setup proper APNs for your cellphone provider.
Without that things like Internet, WAP (lol), MMS, etc wont work.
Hiya thanks for your reply. Yes i reset the APN's again but still the same
Just an update facebook works ok but none of the others i tried - shazam, browser etc
Ok so a couple of days ago I installed a 4.0 ready radio on my galaxy s2 and then went on to install Jedi Knight 6 ROM (4.0.4 and radio is UVMC6) and after installation everything was working fine.. I was messing around for a while.. it worked today, I shut my phone off to charge it up real quick, and when I turned it back on my WiFi would not connect. Well not necessarly connect.. it just wont even turn on. When I go into settings and click WiFi, it just sits there saying, Turning WiFi on, and never changes.. I can't seem to imagine what could have happened to it, and I really dont wanna have to reinstall the ROM again because i just spent hours getting this one all set up to my liking...
Anyone got any ideas?
EDIT: BTW, I have tried many things.. Tried airplane mode to disable everything then turn it back on, obviously tried rebooting the phone, i have tried wiping cache in CWM recovery and also tried fix permissions in recovery (another topic said to try those..)
Nothing has worked so far, i'm about to try reflashing my radio, see if that works.. but I really really dont want to have to reflash my whole ROM.. So if anyone has any other ideas please help, i'll edit if the radio works..
EDIT 2: Reflashing the radio did nothing.. it's really wierd, the data, bt, gps.. all of it works fine, it's just the WiFi that's frozen turning on... cant get it to stop turning on and can't get it to actually turn on..
EDIT Final: Ok well, i guess nobody knows what might have been going on.. so I just wound up reflashing my ROM, which obviously fixed it.. i just had to lose all that time spent setting everything up... But oh well.. Kinda sucks nobody even tried to help..

+1 I'm going through the same thing now
I have been having this same issue as well. It started out as stock happening sporadically. One thread suggested rooting and removing my account. Problem still occurring. Tried flashing multiple ROMs and now WiFi hasn't connected at all always stuck at turning on. I have tried clear cache, fix permissions, as well as reinstalling ROM dirty and with factory reset. I'm hoping this isn't hardware failure because I just bought this phone used but it seems to be a reoccurring problem with others as well. Any NEW suggestions not given from quick Google/xda search?

I'd suggest to check your Wireless Access Point (modem or router) wireless settings for security, check and see if it's set to use WPA/WPA2, which is common on some modems/routers, change it to either WPA or WPA2 (preferred) not both, it's a known issue with WiFi networks and having it set to using both, I had the same problem before with my phone connecting to my WiFi.
Also if you use MAC Address Filtering on the modem/router, you should disable/clear that and let phone re-connect before enabling mac filtering again.

The problem I am having is not that it won't connect to a particular network. Wifi will not initialize on the device at all and is stuck in "Turning On..." state. I found more and more posts where people ended up having to send in to Samsung so I spoke with them and even though I purchased the phone used its thankfully still under warranty and they will be replacing it. The did not confirm whether or not it was a true known device issue but were quick to file the exchange for me.
sigh, me too!
Just started having this problem on 4.3.1
great.
In my case, I had to wipe system and data before reinstalling my ROM.
Though the only reason it was happening to me was because Beanstalk 4.4.2 didn't want to get past the splash screen when I tried to install it so I downgraded back to ICS 4.0.4 without wiping. Good luck getting this issue fixed. Also another kernel might fix thingz for you if your current one does not like your device.
I have a similar problem. After a while, WiFi gets disconnected. If I go in settings - wifi, i get the message "unfortunately, settings has stopped" and I can't get WiFi to work again until I reboot the phone. The Wifi works again for a couple of minutes then stops.
I have flashed various different ROM (CM11, PA) but keeps getting the exact same behavior.
I've rebooted in safe mode and I don't get the problem now.
Hello I have searched the forum in hopes of someone having the same problem to no avail. I am on phone no 3 of the Verizon variant of the HTC One. My problem is that on all 3 phones I cannot connect to WiFi at all. It sees the networks it says connecting then stops and tries another 2 times and then says authentication error. I have tried 6 different WiFi networks both secured and unsecured at Starbucks, McDonald's, Burger King, Library etc all with the same result. I want to like the phone very much and for 3 phones in a row to have this issue is a bit much. I am on SW version 1.10.605.10 and not sure if this has to do with it but it says hardware version 0000. I've even contacted HTC and after 30 min on the phone from trying factory reset, booting the phone into safe mode, and everything else no go. On a side note after everything the HTC rep did admit this is a known issue on a "limited" number of devices. Oh and and factory recovery is gone as well we couldnt get it to boot into it, the screen goes black then reboots itself. The phone is on stock 4.2.2 and has never been rooted, thank you in advance

If you can boot into your hboot, you could try to root it and flash a custom ROM to if it fixes it. If not, you could return to stock and send it back...
I had this issue happen earlier today while I was tinkering with the s-off exploit trying to get it to work. I was using the Stock Rooted Odexed rom when I first noticed I couldnt connect to my WiFi network. After installing Newts NOS v1.0.2 HTCOneVZW I have had no problems with connecting to and using my WiFi.
Hi,
The problem seems to have started around when I upgraded to Lollipop from Kit Kat, basically what happens is my wireless connection will pause for anywhere from 20 seconds to 2 minutes. For example I'll be browsing Reddit and all the images will just stop loading, and then poof, the connection will unpause and everything will load instantly. I don't get any errors during the pause, but nothing loads, all the loading bars just stall until the connection kicks back in.
I have tried restarting my modem and router, I've done a full factory reset and I have the latest Lollipop firmware installed.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Does it only happen with Chrome? Does it only happen when on WiFi or does it happen when on cellular data as well? Have you tried flashing the factory image or did you only do a factory reset?

It affects every app that uses the Internet, when the pause occurs nothing will load, pages won't load with Firefox and images, threads won't load with Reddit Sync. I only use Wifi, I don't have a plan on my tablet. I factory reset then flashed the latest version of Lollipop.

I don't know how you flashed Lollipop, but you should flash the latest factory image. Also, check to see if there is anything on your network that might be causing an IP conflict, as that could cause your issue. Another question- does this only happen on your network or have you tested it on other networks as well?
Hello, a few days ago I left my phone downloading some stuff with Chrome for night. When I woke up I realised that WiFi doesn't work. I checked WiFi settings and noticed that my MAC address is 02:00:00:00:00:00. If I put WiFi on, it shows just "Turning on...". I did Factory Reset but it helped after a few hours, not immediately. A few days have passed and today I have the same problem. Now nothing want to work: Factory Reset, flashing stock ROM using both .raw and .zip, I tried even flashing RR. I found some "tricks" that could help me but they don't work I found two files with good-looking MAC but I don't know what to do next. Is there any option to restore old MAC? Thanks in advance for any help.
