I have Vibrate (Settings/Sound Settings/Vibrate) set for always but my G2 (stock rom) no longer vibrates when I get a text. Any ideas on how to fix that? I spoke with T-Mobile, they walked me thru their troubleshooting but did not solve the problem.
It can still vibrate, as it does every time I re-boot the unit.

SOLVED: Messaging/Menu/Settings/Vibrate (all the way at the bottom).
Did u try going to the mms settings and see if the notification vibrate is set to "always" vibrate I'm pretty sure that default is set to "never vibrate"
Edit: never mind didn't see it was solved

^ correct. Something that has been bothering me too. The notification settings should be a global setting as default unless an app overides it otherwise.

Hi All,
I am posting this reluctantly after struggling for 2 months
If I change phone to vibrate, I never get any vibration notifications for text or calander reminders even after vibration being selected?
Can anybody please help?
Thanks
Anybody!!!
Do you have Vibration turned ON directly in both sms application and the calendar?
Or did you only change the phone profile to vibrate?
get a free app called sound manager and goto the virbation menu settings and make sure it is turned on in there. This fixed it for me
Gr8
The sound manager app solved the problem
Thanks guys

Yepp same problem I had, Froyo has fixed this by adding vibration option for SMS/e-mail/etc only in Vibrate mode
Please tell me if there's a setting I have to choose. But whenever my phone is set to vibrate, it doesn't work. It just doesn't. What's weird is that on the lock screen, where I can choose to unlock or set my phone to vibrate, it actually does vibrate when I push the buttons. It still doesn't vibrate when I get a text or a call. Any help?

settings > sound > vibrate > always
it will ring and vibrate at the same time when you get calls or messages
Hahaha I can't believe I missed such a simple setting, I feel like a noob now. Thanks!

I jump around from ROM to ROM. Lately, I've gone from CM7 to CM9 back to CM7 Kangs and then back to the latest CM7.2RC1.
On that last transfer I lost the ability to get vibrating notifications with SMS/MMS/Gmail et cetera.
I searched high and low for the answer and here it is: download the free app Soundmanager (original or v2) on the market. In the app go into the vibration settings and adjust.
This frustrated me to no end for a week until I found this fix on another forum.
Don't know if you are able to do it but when I go in my girls INC2 messaging app I hit menu> settings> notification settings and in there should be your vibration settings. Hope this helps.

yeah, I've been using GoSMS, and all the notification settings were set up appropriately
Thank you for this, this is exactly the problem I was having and exactly the solution I needed

I'm having this problem on my GNexus. I flashed CM9 and it works great so far, but I wasn't getting notifications. Today I noticed that when I hold down the power button and put it in vibrate the icon goes right to silent. Same when I turn the volume all the way down, and when I select vibrate from the sound settings menu. I'll try the solution above, but its kind of a serious bug IMO.
I noticed that it won't vibrate unless it is set to vibrate and ring in the notification widget.

Should be an option in profiles on cm7 to set an override for that, didn't have cm9 on long enough to remember but I think it did too.

There is a very appropriate approach to this issue.

Get to Messaging (SMS) Press Touch Menu key (The left most key on your front -Defy MB525) get to settings and scroll down to see the fishy thing
Though we have set the profile and notification to vibrate it does only with calls and may be with few other things but not SMS / Notifications atleast....
So the message settings... find Notifications > Vibrate is set to never > change as you prefer..!
So once again..
Messaging > Settings > Notifications > Vibrate (Never) - Default change as you choose...! Way to Go!!!
Hello all!
This weekend I finally mod my smartphone and guess what!? no vibration on notifications!!
I tried every single combination of the sound settings and the notification settings under messaging, and still doesn't work, incoming calls vibrate but not the notifications.
After almost a year after the last post in this thread, is there a fix for this issue?
Everytime I reboot my phone, notifications for certain apps (like WhatsApp) will not vibrate when my phone is not in silent/vibrate mode.
To fix it, I have to open up LightFlow (you can also do this in Sound Manager v2) and set the vibrate setting from "Vibrate only when silent" to "Vibrate on"
I do this every time I reboot my phone. Vibration works fine for ALL apps when in silent/vibrate mode (even for apps that I don't want to have vibrate on in silent/vibrate mode). But only MMS & SMS vibrates properly without needing to do this "fix" everytime I reboot.
I've been having this bug on all AOSP roms since Jellybean first came out. Anyone else having this issue? Is this an AOSP bug? Or could it be something is wrong with my phone? I have done a full wipe several times only to find the issue still persists.
Check in sounds menu, should be an option there, also check individual apps, I know MMS has a vibration setting

I have "Vibrate when ringing" enabled in my sounds menu, I don't really see anything else that has to do with vibrating and notifications. My individual apps are set up properly (the ones I want to vibrate are set to vibrate always, etc) I just have to go into LightFlow and set vibrate to "Vibrate on" rather than "Vibrate only when silent" before it'll vibrate when it's in audible mode like I stated in my OP.. I guess you're not having this issue either? Can you test it out? Specifically it doesn't work with WhatsApp, hmm.. I'm starting to think maybe it's a whatsapp issue, I just tested with Gtalk and it works still. Can anyone confirm?

I have mine set for always vibrate, except during quiet hours, works fine. I don't use what's app so I couldn't tell you. Could also be the ROM you're running or a host of other things. If it's just one app, then it is doing it to itself I'd imagine

Hi
About a month ago my phone stopped vibrating when I received SMS or whatsapp messages if my Ringer was set to vibrate.
Strangely, the option for notification vibrate becomes disabled or "greyed out" if i switch the ringer to 'vibrate'. (see pics)
It does vibrate just fine for a call- just not for notifications.
I am stock rooted, I was on 5.1.1 then updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1 -- no difference.
I've played with all the settings I can think of, with no help.
Any thoughts?
Apparently I'm not the only one, as I found this guy asking the identical question with a S6 edge on a different forum.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...ion-vibrate-disabled-if-ringtone-vibrate.html
Nobody?
It's a strange glitch- no one has experienced a phone that vibrates fine for a call, but doesn't give the option to vibrate for a notification or text?
Some notification vibration settings must be set for that app. The screenshot you posted shows that notifications are set to vibrate.

Ah! Thank you so much for someone finally replying.
I must not have explained the screenshots correctly--- In the second screenshot-- I have set my RINGER to vibrate (as in for the phone).... and magically ALL NOTIFICATIONS GO SILENT (for every app and including SMS) -- not even vibrate--- and I lose the ability to change them to vibrate.
It used to be simple. Ringer set to ring, Notifications (whether for SMS, or any other app like calendar or whatsapp) would also ring. Ringer set to vibrate- notifications (again for all apps and SMS) would also go to vibrate.
Importantly I also would have control of the relative volumes/vibrations in both settings.
Now I only have that ability when the ringer is set to ring. If i set the ringer to VIBRATE--- then the notifications get totally silent-- -and are 'greyed out' so I can't change them.
It's weird.
Maybe I can't seem to explain it clearly, but I'm trying.
Thanks for the reply.
I am having the exact same issue. Have you ever figured out a solution?

Sorry for the delay.
The answer is .... sort of....
The graying out issue never resolved, but magically it DOES vibrate now with messages. Perhaps that started to work with one of the updates I've installed.
Still seems bizarre to me, but as long as the functionality returned... i guess that is good enough.
