New users cannot edit their posts because of the 5 mins restriction? - About xda-developers.com

Bug or feature?
When attempting to correct a typo, I got : "To prevent spam to the forums, new users must wait five minutes between posts. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed."

How can I tell when I become a "Registered Member"? Do I need to contact an admin or moderator to fully register my account?

No, it happens on the hour. So if you hit ten posts at 10.01, you won't be a member until 11

So I need to reach ten posts. Then, is the time limit between posts removed, or is that a separate issue?
Sorry for the silly questions.
[EDIT] I am at 19 posts, but I still have a two minute wait between posting and editing. The error message says that I need a certain number of posts. How many do I need?

I'm not sure, to be honest. That's a relatively new addition, but if I remember correctly it's 20 or 30 posts.

OK. I guess I'll keep posting and debugging other people's issues whenever I get the chance. It's strangely addictive.

Where do I find these "Terms & Conditions"?

As far as I can tell, the 30 post limit is not mentioned anywhere. That's why I came to this thread.
The 10 post limit is mentioned in one of the About XDA threads, called "Postcount limit in developmental fora".

I have the same problem, I don't want to end up writing useless drivel to get my post count up (like now) just so I can ask a sensible question about a problem I am having installing potatomans camera upgrade.
Is there any other way round it?

No there is no way around it. And if it is a question that needs to be asked. The Q&A forums are the place to ask and you canboost there without the limit. Development is not for asking questions

You shouldn't be asking a simple question like that in development. Ask in Q&A

Same here. I've been using this Web site for like a year or more. Had just got a password and screen name, feeling like I had gained enough knowledge to contribute to my favourite ROM thread, typed this long post, put alot of thought into it, hit submit, and got dissed. I'm not mad, just wish I would have known weeks ago.

[Q] Do you think i do a good job at helping others who post questions in Q&A?

hi well some people (no names will be mentioned) have been getting annoyed with me via pm recently for always posting answers to peoples questions. even though i am usually helping them.
so i have a few questions.
1. do you think i should stop posting on questions to help the user?
2. do you think i do a good job at helping people with questions?
3. do you think i should just leave this forum?
4. do you think i should just cut down on how many questions i answer?
5. do you think my answers are correct?
UPDATE: heres a poll i made to make it easier - http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/550367
Put them on ignore and tell them to suck it...

thanks btw are you on giffgaff like your signature ses or are you on orange like the image on the left says? i love giffgaff.
If you feel you are helping people and people are showing their appreciation by telling you or pressing the "Thanks" button then conitnue with it, all that should matter is if you feel you are being a productive positive member. And honesty is usually best, granted tact may also have to come into play but people that are not straight honest it can make things more frustrating for the user in question. So in a nutshell if you think are a benefit then keep going.
but thats the point i am not sure. like 90% of the 100% dont even say thanks or press thanks when i help them as a lot of people post a question and then dont even check that thread again.

A few are there, but I'm not at liberty to discuss them...
The 6 month rule as well as the min. 100 (edit, just checked) 300 posts requirement is still there...
Even previously, guides were just used as "benchmark stones", it wasn't entirely based on that...lots of other things were considered as well...

News for you. It won't work.
If you want to make 10 posts, how about you actually go to your device forum to help people out rather than posting things like this just to try and get past the system.
This is perfect proof to why the 10 post system exists. Well done!
