GSM NEXUS EFS corrupted and unknownbaseband and no IMEI plz help - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have the Unknown baseband issue and it seems that i have a bad EFS partition . I have a thread running >> here <<about the problem and the members there told me it seems that it is a corrupted EFS partition
This is the problem :
Well, from the day one i bought my nexus i had the " unknown baseband " in the About screen of my GSM unlocked NEXUS ! ... I dunno how but i left my phone with sim card inserted for some hours and suddenly i noticed that i have a signal and i checked to see the baseband is identified as xxkk6. Now i downloaded the Factory image from google and i flashed it using the Nexus Toolbox and now i dont have any baseband again.
Tried to flash the baseband only again with no luck, It only shows in the fastboot mode but when the phone is in android mode or ( normal mod ) it shows as unknown!
Tried to flash the UGLA4 baseband and the problem persists!
What should i do now ???

The thing is i didnt backup the EFS partition and i don't know how to fix it !!
I have an Unknown baseband and no IMEI as i checked now !!
I have an Unlocked GSM GNEX
would it be possible if anybody uplaoded a copy of his own EFS backup and i might be able to flash it using something and it gets back ?
please help me out !!

try posting in the Q&A section
EDIT: saw that you did... but posting here probably won't help much either.

The EFS contains our IMEI so I don't think anyone would share their EFS with you.

Yea I definitely had to send my phone in and get it repaired.

Try to flash back to google stock rom via Galaxy Nexus Toolkit from mskip :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Download google stock image here :
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
Then, using GNex Toolkit again to root, unlock bootloader, etc and flash any baseband from this thread below to test :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405345
i already did that and still not working!
I tried flashing the stock rom over and over , ulnocked , rooted and flashed the baseband file alone and nothing works!
i tried to flash ugla4 and xxkk6 basebands but both didn't work and i only can see them in the fastboot mode info
If you can't seem to get it to work, try returning it to the vendor.
As last resort you can try with ODIN it might work...

I can't return it as i bought it with no warranty from an online store in my country ...
Ok, how can i use odin to restore it ! i mean i need a pit file and the other files right? where can i get them from ?
another thing, do i find the files if i extracted the factory image
thank you!
Install cwm and flash the baseband from there. Should work. Search cwm touch in the forum.

That doesn't mean it has no warranty contact your country Samsung warranty service and explain the situation it must have warranty!
I tried flashing it with CWM and nothing seems to work !
Am i the only one who has this problem ? is it hardware related or what because as i said it was working before and i was able to make and receive calls and data ..
It wasn't workning when i first turned on the phone when i bought it but i was playing around with the setting and apps and i remember having an OTA update from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 and after 2 or 3 hours it started to work ! just like that !
btw i flashed the old 4.0.1 (ITL41F) factory image and i updated OTA now to 4.0.2 ICL53F but still unknown baseband
are you using a custom rom on the phone?
if you are...you may have installed a rom for the LTE/CDMA phone and not for your GSM phone..
that is why my baseband said UNKNOWN......I had a LTE and I install a GSM rom by mistake...
try installing a custom GSM rom

here there is a similar thread...somene talk about a corrupted efs partition (try to search something about it), someone just flashed a new radio and solved it
did you also tried to power off the phone and pull the battery for a while? it is a sort of software reset..may work sometimes..
Sounds like your EFS may be corrupted.
There is an app for the I9100 that can repair corrupted EFS's, and it can be done via adb as well, but I'm not sure about the applicability towards the GNex.
Just for reference, I am in no way suggesting you do this, but perhaps someone else can chime in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17587351&postcount=1

I may have jumped the gun a bit, with the i9100 an unknown baseband typically meant a corrupted efs. Do you still have signal and an imei #?

Likely, but again I haven't messed around with the EFS on the GNex yet. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in and get you sorted out.

@Bajanman sorry but that guide is useless for the LTE Note 2 variants. Look for guides from the LTE Note 2 or the North American SGS3 as your main starting points to try and solve this. (My T889V LTE guide has some links to those.)
One method I'd like to hear reports about is the reboot nvrestore one, I've seen it discussed mostly on a Verizon SGS3 thread, but nothing IMHO says it wouldn't be relevant for the HSPA/LTE versions either.
Edit: The EFS and other related partitions are of a significantly different layout between the dual-core SGS3 and the LTE Note 2 or GT-I9305. adb reboot nvrestore doesn't seem to do anything on our devices.
Good luck,
Darkshado
hey i didn't find anything...i've heard that there's some custom roms that contains EFs backup that can solve my problem is this true ? if so can anybody give me a link for one of those roms ? thank you
Try to flash with odin the stock rom that you got your note 2 with. It happened to me once where i flashed something and lost my imei. I didnt backup or anything. After i flashed the stock and unrooted my phone my imei reappeared and my phone worked again. BTW it was a att note 2. I found the rom somewhere at this forum. No rom contain you Efs i think(could be wrong) but each phone has it own imei.

This basically means you have corrupted the EFS partition of your phone. This can only be fixed in two ways:
1. Like @johntheredimid mentioned, you need to restore the backup (if you took a backup) of your EFS partition before it was corrupted. The method for restore can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420902
2. If you didn't take a backup, you need to take your phone to a service center and ask them to fix it for you. Would probably have to have your board replaced. So you should install your country's firmware and unroot properly before taking it there. Unrooting methods can be found in the general section.
Looks like this problem is widespread

N7105 factory mode

Hi guys, i seriously need help here. Please refer to attached screenshot.
I came here after flashing sokp 4.2.2 rom, and it prompted me an error saying encryption was unsuccessful. After which, i wasnt able to use my phone since then.
I tried to flash stock rom, and I end up with this. Please dont tell me to search the forums because Ive been to them countless times. I suppose this is a efs issue, because baseband and imei are unknown and I do not have a backup for it. Tried with the writing tool for imei, doesnt work as well.
Pls ask me for any info u might need/i missed out to help with this issue.
I think it's in the efs folder, you have to use a root browser and edit factory mode to off instead of on. It's been a long time since I saw factory mode so I'm not 100%

Thanks for your reply. But even if I off factory mode, will the baseband and imei be unknown?
I'm not sure but if it doesn't the 2 things that might be worth trying are, emergency firmware recovery with kies or mskips toolkit has a rescue package but I think you have to go to skipsoft.net now as the thread was closed
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
It's current value is "OFF"...u have to write "ON"...i know it sounds weird but that is the value. Amd if u don't have any previous back up of EFS then there's nothing u can do at home to bring it back. Same thing happened to mine and i got it repaired from a local shop for cheap...they used z3x box...the problem is my IMEI is correct and network works fine...but everytime i flash a ROM i have to take it to the shop and get the modem patched or else it doesn't connect to network. So go to Samsung service centre and get it fixed by them...they'll charge u more but their fix is permanent.

Alright, it seems like i have a backup of the efs, bt the nv_data.bin file is not included, and i read on other threads that this file is responsible for the imei and all? This backup is dated in aug2013, but it doesnt help in restoring my phone because the efs pro software doesnt see this as a backup file. Im actually looking for one of the thread that actually taught how to edit the nv_data.bin file, but no luck till date.
This thread might help

There is no efs partition on HTC phones. It only exists on Samsung phones.
You probably flashed a GSM RUU on a CDMA device or vice versa. Return to your original firmware and hope that you didn't damage the phone unrecoverably since the partition layout isn't the same on those two variants.
