Have you been able to on other roms, using the same mail app?
I haven't tried any other roms yet. I really didn't want to keep switching because i don't want to mess anything up.
Do I have to stick with EL29 Roms since that is my factory build.

Not at all. El29 is the most recent gingerbread build but you can run the ics builds. Just make sure you read thoroughly and remember, they are leaks, so they aren't perfect yet. I would suggest waiting for a more stable build.
As for your email woes, have you made sure your settings are correct for pushing mail? You may also want to make sure the settings from your email provider are set up to push through a email app.

Im sorry I should have clarified, the email would freeze and forceclose when I try to type my reply. I did figure out though when I use the Samsung keyboard its fine, it ounly does it with the HTC keyboard. How will I know when something is more stable? Thanks for your help.

Does anyone have a mms fix for EVO on cricket...please point me in the right direction...don't mean to be a noob just need some assistance..thanks
Did you back up apn settings with apn backup app and then disk drive your phone and edit the backup apn.xml file and put your "[email protected]" then make sure you save it as is and disconnect drive from pc then open apn backup app and delete all apns and then click restore select the .xml you edited then save exit. Go grab the mms.zip and flash it through recovery menu. Better explained here.

I unfortunately have tried all of the fixes but none seem to work with AOSP
Though the wife's works just fine in fresh froyo with no tweaking.

I have never been able to get MMS working in AOSP on Cricket. I can do it in any Sense rom but the APN settings in AOSP never seem to stick or work correcty.
This is the one and only reason I'm still running a Sense rom. I want badly to run AOSP so I can link up a controller to my phone but I send and receive far too many pictures to give that capability up.

I hate sense. I'm all about the aosp. I emailed a supposed cricket flash master last month asking if he has a mms solution for aosp. He respond yes but when asked if he would mind sharing the replys stopped. After a month I emaild him again and got this "No, sorry. I am a developer that makes custom roms for cricket dealers (for sale only). I do not leak my own work. "
I call BS.
Well it looks like I got Picture messaging working on Deck's AOSP rom for my wife.

Nice! What did you do?
Hey there,
I've searched both these forums and on the net, and almost nothing came up.
I'm running rooted stock JB right now (stock kernel as well).
I've noticed that every since i've update to JB, the quick responses option is missing!
When i receive a call, there is no icon/action for the swiping up.
The settings for the quick responses are still there and i can still change the messages, however i cannot use the feature...
Has anyone else experience it/found a fix?
I'm gonna flash to AOKP/CM/BAMF soon, so it's not critical, but still... very annoying!
p.s.
This is the only reference i found for it on the web:
androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/483105-galaxy-nexus-quick-responses-do-not-show-up.html
and it's pre-JB.
Quick responses works fine for me on AOKP JB.

I'm replying with the very simple solution I've found incase anyone stuble upon this thread.
I've had the stock messaging app disabled, and that seemed to cause the problem...
So even if it's a "Phone" (as an app) feature, it relies on the built in messaging app, which makes a bit of sense
Ever since I started using JB ROMs, I keep getting this random two-tone chiming notification sound from the phone.
When I hear it, there's nothing in the drop down menu. Not an e-mail notification, or text or anything (I have all those customized already).
I can't seem to figure out what this chiming notification sound is for. Does anybody here what I'm talking about?
I tried going into the system/media/audio folder to see if I can find what the sound is called, but I wasn't able to find it.
I just want to turn it off, but I'm not sure where to go :-/
I'm guessing it's Google now updating. But when I go into Google now setting, it has a completely different notification sound.
Thanks in advance for any response.
HELP!!!
What ROM are you running? Custom ROM, Stock ROM, or a CyanogenMod ROM?

I'm running the latest Wicked ROM. But I don't think it's ROM specific.
I had it when I was running Domination ROM also. And my friend who's running stock 4.1.1 seems to have it also. However her phone doesn't chime as much as mine does.
I know that it is an issue with some CyanogenMod nightlies with the "Deneb Tone" (I believe) but Stock is most definitely not built on that. I'm not sure I can be much help at the moment but I'll look into it. Your problem is usually known as a "Ghost Notification Tone."
find the chime sound and delete it
Its most likely in this folder .. system/media/audio
Also .. you could be a face-book tone or a Google + mail or chat
do you have any custom chat - email - type programs ?

Okay, I figured it out.
It's the default notification sound from Yahoo mail.
I thought had turned off all notifications for Yahoo e-mail but apparently when the app recently got updated, it turned the notification sound back on again so every time I'd get a new e-mail, my phone would chime. I just turned it off.
Thanks to all who responded!!
No problem!
You also just reminded me to turn my Show Notifications for GMail back on from a few days ago...
Thanks

Using the latest rom from Task650 2013.02.23 I'm not able to connect to some secure sites. One example is https://stripe.com/ but there are plenty of others, but no names off the top of my head (just want to point out it's not unique to Stripe, happens with about 1 in 4 sites I've tried to use.) I ran into this quirk with older versions of this rom as well. Happen on a clean install, both stock browser and Chrome.
I'd potentially post in the development thread but where I'm a newbie it won't let me, sorry about that!
Any tips on how I might resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Or if you know where I might look to find a more verbose error log, that would be pretty awesome as well.
Thanks!
Edit: can't explain what happened, but after logging in to a Google Account on the device and installing a handful of apps/updates everything works as expected. Case closed, for now. If I figure out what happened I'll come back to post about it for others who might run into it.

I'm able to get to the above website, as well as all the SSL sites I visit, credit cards, bank, mint, credit scores, ect.. without fail. I'm also on the 2/23 build from task. when flashing sometimes things can happen like this, even on a clean flash.
You may have to Odin back to stock to do a complete fresh reinstall of tasks ROM.
unrelated, I had to do so with a recent LTE issue that is now fixed.

Thanks for the reply RPelham!
I have jumped back to older versions of the rom but it still happens. I wipe caches, format /system and proceed with a clean install each time. The checksum matches on all files used so I'm relatively sure I'm downloading what's expected.
Your comment about LTE perks my curiosity. Although not on LTE myself, now that I'm home I've I connected to wifi and this issue isn't presenting. The only time I run into problems is when trying to connect to secure sites over cellular data.
My data plan isn't limited or being misused so I don't suspect they've throttled the connection. Not lucky enough to be on any unlimited data plan and no high usage coming from me. No high connection counts... really nothing all that notable. E-mails and calendar sync mostly.
Does Bell muck up HTTPS traffic? I would call them up but I feel tier 1 technical support isn't going to be much help until I narrow it down more.

RPelham was referring to going back to stock (TW) and starting over with tasks aokp. that usually resolves almost every issue.

Oh I see. Perhaps this will sound silly, but how exactly does one do such a thing? Is there a thread somewhere on here with stock Bell I747 roms I can install using recovery?

Search for stock firmware in the Android development section. Your bell version will be listed with the others. You'll need odin installed on your pc.
first though before you actually odin stock

Time and date appear to be accurate. Haven't located the official roms just yet, will poke around and see what's around.
I loaded the stock rom and HTTPS sites works as expected. Rooted again, and installed the latest from Task (2013.02.26) and back to having these connection issues. Going to go post on the development thread, but any tips or ideas more than welcome! Thanks fellas

Well he was quick to reply and inform me my carrier is unsupported. Yeesh, like... really quick. You would think he lives here on xda. That aside I decided to try the slim rom and I hit the same issue. So it's not unique to task. However, I'm completely stumped at this point. It would be sweet if the browser would give a better error message! Keeping my eyes peeled for others with the same issue and possible solutions, but thanks again for the advice so far!
Ok well I get strait to the point I love my note 2 and would love to run a 4.2.2 rom .I have used pacman...aokp...and a couple others but it seems that no matter which one I used sending mms or reciving them does not work. Any help would be appreciated .exact situation is go into stock messaging app choose an attachment and try to send it but it will just stay in the sending stage and eventually fail after an hour and as for reciving .I dont recieve anything from anyone when it comes to mms .I know it isnt my network because when I use any 4.1 or 4.1.2 rom it works perfectly.:crying:

I have this issue all aosp roms have these issues they will get worked out as is took 4 months to get the galaxy s3 aosp roms to be 99% bug free. Flash back to a touchwiz rom update your prl and profile then flash your aosp ROM. Go SMS is better than the stock touchwiz or aosp imop lots of useful features.

Try when you install to format system then flash and flash the radio also. Not saying that is the problem. But could help rest the most issue. I'm using pac with no issues

I have the same exact issue and have found no solution. Combine that with the fact that GPS won't work over LTE and it's enough for me to just stick with TW which is performing near perfect for me.

Guys I haven't experienced any issues when I flashed Whompasaurus, which is basically a souped up version of stock. It gave me the ability to overclock at 1.8Ghz, keep my touchwiz features for s-pen etc., and allowed me to do it all through AROMA, an interactive user interface of installing what I wanted to keep stock and what I didn't care about installing. Give it a shot....
