Hi! As a new member can't post to relevant CM 7.2 for Gio thread on dev area, but I can see ppl are talking about getting 1700-2000+ points on quadrant.. how come that's possible, im running just wiped & installed newest cm 7.2 and have nothing else installed from market except newest quadrant standard (free), and i only get 1002 points?!?
Tried to change cpu governor to interactiveX and add max clock speed to 940 mhz, it gave me 1068 points with those settings.. so I have no idea how anyone could get that much.. what's wrong with my gio or settings or rom or what..

stock score was just about 600-700 b4 installing cwm and cm 7.2
well, there's a great increase, almost double w/ cm7.2
so i guess its all ok, it really works very well and smooth
EDIT: quadrant actually gave me this info screen now:
"Due to changes implemented to support new devices this version of Quadrant reports scores different from 1.x releases."
so thanks a lot voetbalremco, i guess it was just difference in quadrant versions between the other posters and me..
I got 2632 with cyanogenmod 7.2
And 2607 with BNC 2 rom

Just test with apps you use daily. All benchmarks are useful for bragging only IMHO.

can someone please inform me how the tmobile galaxy s phone can reach quadrant scores of 2400 and im only pushing 1200
I've hit 2700 on my Evo my penor is HUGE!
haha funny i actually seen his quad score so i know its true
I wouldn't think too much of it. Cyanogen showed that the difference between 1200 and 40 gabillion in quadrant can be something as rediculous as the filesystem. I don't put much weight in those scores when comparing different phones.

Why don't you try installing >>Snap 7.6 kernel on a Sense ROM and then try to enable TURBO? That'll *should* get you scores beyond 2000 but I'm not sure how well it works. >>Snap kernels are designed for CM ROMs ONLY and there is no support for installing a >>Snap kernel on a Sense ROM - but I've read about others who've done it. Maybe give that a try? I haven't done it so I won't be any help but I've read about it which means maybe it'll work for you.
Dude I really don't understand why you're so concerned with Quadrant scores. It's just a number.

Well, it does ultimately represent something. But unless you can see a real difference, I wouldn't care so much.
If your phone is snappy and smooth, it shouldn't matter what score you get in Quadrant. When I was on CM6 I was scoring 2000+, on Fresh I get around 1650 and I think my Evo is running way better with Fresh than it did with CM6.
well see ive tried fresh with the kings kernel and still not gettin that high i wanna try nets kernel but not sure which one is compatible i like baked but takes too long to boot i also like fresh
Have you tried the new official kernel? It's not going to give you crazy quadrant scores but it will make your battery last a lot longer + I think the way HTC lifted the cap makes it smoother than the custom kernels. It makes the phone more useful which IMHO is more important than Quadrant scores.

Hi all,
I've got Leedroid and would like to know how the hell people get the 3000+ scores on quadrant ?
I've used most of the roms with a lot of the kernels but the most i get is around 2500 - 2600 , i've heard that the kernel by Kamma is a good one but i'm at a loss as to which one i should use.
So if anyone could point out which one i could use for .
1. Stability.
2. Battery saving.
3. Benchmarking (without smoking my device of course)
Any answers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

the first thing you need to understand is quadrant is ****, it is not an acurate indication of the speed of your device, a few devs have made kernels that trick quadrant into giving it massive scores, but in reality there kernels are not the best that being said, you wont find a better kernel for stability or speed than leedroids one, it is flawless you can download it here

Have you noticed much difference between 2.0.5 and 2.0.6 kernels? The LeeDroid thread is getting very lengthy to read through these days to catch up on new updates lol!

Yeah the new one is based on the latest kernel source, with the 1.75 libs,

Tbh I use leedroids newest one an its really good, quadrant gets 2500 +
The device is smooth as silk, bit then again it always was.
I didn't know that quadrant was pants, I thought it was a good benchmarking tool.
Confirm that the newest kernel of Lee is the best!but in a few days he prepare a new awesome BFS kernel...
Mmm badly ****ed scheduler. My favourite.
If you want good quadrant, buy the paid app which gives higher scores than the free one. Do the I/O hack which core and lee droids use. Use Leedroid kernel at max freq, performance governor, and finally run it in airplane mode.
Follow all those steps and you will get around the 3000 score.
You should state if you use quadrant standard or advance when posting results as they do differ. Otherwise it's like comparing oranges to mandarins. They are both orange but one is always bigger.

Yea it's just the standard version of quadrant, I thought that it would do the job.
Also i don't want to trick it or actually buy an app just so it can give me higher scores, that's not actually helping at all, i'll try the airplane mode to see if that helps, my phone is rapid anyway so it's only for my own satisfaction and to see how high i could get the score to go to.
Hello all.
I'm trying to get the most of my defy.
Currently using cyanogenmod 7, over clocked to 1.2ghz.
I have now started using the v6 supercharger script as hoping its not placebo but seems to be working a lot better. Used option 9.
Does anyone else use the v6 script and what option did you go for?
Also do you have any other tweeks for making the defy smoother or faster?
Have uploaded a screenshot of my benchmark.
V6 original thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
I'm using the latest V6 RC 3.2, with option 6 (ledded) (now I'm testing option 7), and option 13 (bulitproof launcher). I installed nitro lag nullifier. I also use kak script, and 3G turbocharge script. Overall it has big improvement, my defy is much faster and more responsive. I have only a little lag in scrolling the launcher when I use live wallpaper, btw I'm using blur launcher, and MS2Ginger 2.1 rom, overclocked to 1.2 Ghz. My scores are around 2700 - 2800.
Thanks a few things to look up.

copied from the v6 post
What's it do?
It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.
So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!
It's the ONLY one of it's kind
NO LAUNCHER REDRAWS, faster than ever, multitasking is better... why?
Because it works with the lowmemorykiller and letting it work the way it's meant to work.
Also, because of the rearrangement, it works the same on all roms!
The problem with using minfree tweakers like AMM or AKMO is that it doesn't work the same on all roms.
Secondary apps may be in slot 3 on some roms but in slot 5 in others!
That's why you hear people comment "I tried AKMO but it didn't do anything..."
Most likely it didn't do anything because the apps weren't sitting where they were expected to be.
So fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!
Super Charge... Makes it impossible to kill other apps & dats the downfall

Anyone still using this script or the thunderbolt script on Cm.7.1.0-11-defy?
I'm trying to figure out if people see a noticeable improvement before taking the leap myself. Better synthetic scores don't really matter to me.
I may be interested too, what are the downsides of these, and is there a way of undoing it?

I've been using it to, and the phone does feel smoother. The nitro lagg nullier makes the difference on my defy.
(I used it in conjunction with the multitasking setting if i'm not mistaken)
It's buttery smooth on Option 6 - "Balanced."
Minimal modded to my defy seeing it was my everyday phone. Now that I have the defy+ I'm going hands in the the defy been reading and reading now I would like input from other users.
So.....
What modes are best for the defy?
Make it faster, responsive with no lags or glitches.
I'm on cm 7.2 froyo kernel thinking bout upgrading to gb kernel. Any suggestions?

As i have been chasing the holy grail in my Defy+ for the last weeks, i have been thru some settings and my own observation around the SuperCharger is that it totally screwed up atleast my already overclocked Defy+. I was running scores around 2400-2500 in Quadrant and after installing SC it really felt slow and a new test in Quadrant really proved what i have been feeling, the score was around 1800. Notice then that my first setting in SC was a fullblown 1000bhp setting (dont remember what the highest number is), so i thought i had shot myself in the foot and overloaded things, tuned it down to a 512bhp settings (somewhere in the middle) and did a new test, still was the same score in Quadrant. After some anger management i uninstalled it and ran a new Quadrant test, this time i scored 2200. I dont know if i managed to screw anything up in SC but thats my 2 cents of an observation.
Stock MIUI straight out of the archive gave me 26000 - 25000 on quadrant...
after installing all of my guff it naturally got lower scores, but - speed doesn't necessarily equate to smoothness...
I then went to linpack.apk which allows you to compare your scores against, well - your scores...
As I turned up the OC the ph got quicker - but not smoother (if you get my drift)...
So, on my personalized MIUI I pasted in Juwe11's ram script & Samsungs Loopysmoothness script... they helped with the smoothness I was after... (+enabling JIT in SetSvel - makes a diff)...
Now I'm running WajKIUI hybrid... battery seems to drain quicker, but it's silky smooth... speed is similar to MIUI OC'ed @ 1.2GHz...

That must be one hell of a Defy u got there if u managed to score around 25,000 points in
Quadrant
For some reason the defy phones in some way seems to score higher than the +, god knows why.
I tried to run a Sonic the hedgehog game with my best settings it ran really smooth and the handling seemed better than ever. But more smoothness never hurt as long as it doesnt decrease speed. I rather run like that and get a better battery
Do u know if those scripts work on the +?

Which Sonic game ?
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 ?
Herpderp Defy.
Hi,
Im trying to get a bit of rock ´n roll out of my Defy+ thru serious overclocking,
im running MS2Ginger 3.0 at the moment that doesnt seem to be the perfect rom for getting great speeds, but it works.
Been running 1350Mhz for a while which seems to work rather good, going to 1400 makes my Defy more sluggish than a led slug. So that doesnt work, atleast not for what i can see.
The problem i see is when running Quadrant benchmarks, i only get numbers around 300 on the 2D test, is that normal?
Can someone tell me about a rom that could make me roll even faster and higher up in the result lists of Quadrant benchmark?
Regards.
So 214 views and nobody knows anything? Sounds impoosible on this forum
Don't know much about fast ROMs but everybody brags about CM7, of course. Also there are some people who claim Mokee os (CM7 Based) is the fastest. Check them out and let us know what you find out
Anyway, they say Quadrant isn't everything.

Ok they say the Defy is a rugged phone but hell knows if that would be healthy for it. But as they say it aint the speed that kills its suddenly coming to a stop that kills so maybe i should go for a try
I recommend setting max and min to 1350 and also performance governor, on v6 supercharger before benching run an enginge flush and kill all apps using process manager except quadrant
DEFYing the Android planet with ICS
Ok i´ll try that V6 thingie but before that i thought i would tell what i have noticed so far.
MS2Ginger stayed around 1900 score on Quadrant with a top of 2100.
CyanogenMod seems to stay around 2400 with a peak of 2501 so far.
CyanogenMod seems to be better on the hardware tests except on the graphical parts where it seems to drop a couple of FPS, Anyone know any good
advice to maximize the graphical parts of CM?
A fun thing to notice is that with the original settings and MS2Ginger i achieved a score of 1350 and now riding around 2500, pretty nice.
One down thou with CM is that i woke up this morning without a statusbar and when the alarm went off i couldnt shut it off except for rebooting the phone.

Ok now im un-supercharged again, either i did something very wrong or that script only worked in the wrong direction on my Defy+. Installed it and ended up running 1700 - 1800 scores on Quadrant, uninstalled it and is now back to 2300, dont know where the last 100 - 200 points ended up, will do some more tests before moving on to the Mokee OS rom.
Have a safe day/evening
I jujst wanted to say that im in no way is trying to put down the MS2Ginger developers work, this is just me and personal opinions in the hunt for a better performing Defy+
Cheers
in my opinion, oc-ing the defy to over 1.2ghz makes no sense and it only damages your cpu in the long run. i think that managing your ram gives a lot smoother experience than oc-ing your phone, because the only apps that dont run smooth on this little beauty are hd games, but they were never intended to. im using ram manager pro from market (play store), try it, maybe it helps!

I have recently gotten my first android phone, (samsung gio S5660) and decided to install a custom rom on it and root it. I now have CM9 and I overclocked it to 900Mhz.
However, I get 6.2MFLOPS on the linpack test and between 250 and 300 points for processor in the quadrant (standard) test (which takes forever), I feel this is a bit low do you guys agree? And what would cause it? Should I try another rom? if so which one would you guys recommend?
nothing. who cares about scores?
its about how your phone performs, not how it scores into such apps..

These scores represent how my device performs during their tests, 3d wise its all ok, but the CPU seems to be slow which is noticeable when browsing the web for example (this is a guess tho, since I have not experienced any other android devices.)
I also experience some lagg in other applications and I wish for my device to run it as smooth as possible.
So, does anyone know why my CPU is getting these low grades? Or if I should move on to another ROM? Or if this speed is to be expected from a gio.
How are your cpu frequences set?
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
Frequencies?
using setCPU I set the max frequency to 902 and min to 122, it has no effect on performance when I change the 122 to 902. I have set the "governor" to performance.
try delanoister BNC rom
I get on quadrant test 2576 point

Yeah, decided I would flash CM7 after an other rom did not flash well. Works like a charm CPU scores have gone up from 6MFlops to 11 and from 300pts to 800. Browsing works snappy and games work better.
Thanks guys for the help.

I know you shouldn't trust benchmarks too much, however I benched alot of times and I felt these marks where valid as in that they where twice as low as I was expecting them to be. Also the lagginess of some parts of the system made alarm bells go off.
However now it's fixed, and my gio is steaming ahead.
Thanks once again guys.
