Video Camera Force Close - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using the Camera Mod for Xperia Play and when I try to record a video, it force closes.
I've tried using the stock app as well and get the same thing.
Any ideas?

Did you try wiping its data/cache?

Sure did. Still having the problem.

You might need to reflash your firmware

try testing it via service menu. Happened to my xplay, then after running a test, it worked again.

I believe this might be because 2.3.4 for our Play supports 720p video recording, but the camera mod has never been updated to support it, which causes a conflict

I found out that it is some build.prop tweaks that I did.
One or more of the following tweaks broke it:
Code:
media.stagefright.enable-player=true
media.stagefright.enable-meta=true
media.stagefright.enable-scan=true
media.stagefright.enable-http=true
media.stagefright.enable-record=false

hello,
after flashing a 480p kernel, this was altered and my camcoder force closed.. flashed a proper kernel back but didn't fix it.
the last line was responsible: media.stagefright.enable-record=false . removed it and now it's fixed. many many thanks!

[MOD] build.prop tweaks

i will keep updating as i play arround with diferent values. if you have any other tweaks you want to add let me know and i will add to the list.
add or edit existing lines to build.prop with text editor. you can do it with rootexplorer or copy it to the sd card and open on your computer using notepad++ or any other text editor and then push it back using abd or root explorer. these should help with performance and battery life.

it gives you a better benchmark score. i had snapshots but my phone is hard bricked so i cant post them. but i did get to pull the buildprop before it bricked. it gives the phone better performance and makes it run smoother. theres also some tweaks that are supposed to increase data speeds but i was still testing those. then there are some tweaks that save battery and a few that give you better picture and video quality.

You can edit your build.prop while in recovery. Boot to recovery, go to Mount settings and mount /system, do an "adb pull /system/build.prop", modify it, then "adb push build.prop /system/build.prop". Clear caches and reboot.

Ask him for the result of any of the mods rather than giving your crap conclusions and advices.

i read and understand everything in your thread, it's just a hilarious thread that's all. Mark had a good point ; anything you post in these forums should have an explanation of what they do so that users can understand what they are doing. your thread just has "here, flash this", "oh yea, and btw, my phone is bricked" i know it had nothing to do with what you're are posting, but if you had an explanation of the changes to the build.prop, then you wouldn't have @ssh0les like me give you a hard time about it.

build.prop tweaks

Has anyone with root successfully edited their build.prop? I've tried adding some tweaks with several editors but the changed build.prop will not save, I get an error or app crash when I try.
OK, got it to work through Flashtool.

I only know as much as I have learned... Which really isn't a whole lot compared to most. :-/ My thing...I'm just not afraid to try stuff. LOL.
Would you like me to post the file I was sent anyways? It's a Gingerbread Stock build.prop file...
I intend on comparing both files (Stock and Rooted) to see where the differences are between the two, and then play with settings from there. The issue with messing witha build.prop... Is sometimes things work better...Sometimes it breaks stuff... Once I am able to compare and go from there, I'd be happy to share my finding though... Especially if I find something that helps.
Yea, if you can post it would be nice so some of can do the same thing.

I am not sure that the apn.lock mean that you are locked to LTE or not. I think it is referring to the APN that the phone should be using.

That's my thing more or less with computers, because with a PC the almost worst case scenario is having to format the HD from a Windows DVD and reinstall everything. On the other hand, a cell phone can be turned into a paperweight much more easily, so I go a lot more cautiously.
But yes, please post the file, things like the APN or the persistent time should be changeable without bricking the phone, so worst case I'd just undo the changes (not so much for APN, since in the rooted ICS it's written in Chinese). I used to play around a bit with the Windows Mobile registry, seems like this file serves a similar role in Android.

You know you can open an ftf like a zip file using 7zip and then use Flashtool to dump the data from the system.sin. Use ext2explorer then on the ext4 file that you get after dumping the system.sin data and that will allow you to browse and copy files from the system folder. This way you can get files/folders from rom firmware without having to have it on your phone.
Stock AT&T build.prop attached in zip file.

[Upadte 10/3/2013]{New tweaks for JB/CM}Build.prop Tweaks for improved Performance !

Guys I've searched a lot of places on net and finally making a list of build.prop tweaks that i find everywhere (all at one place).. This all can really help extending the battery, improve performance and so on.....
Here are they : (would keep updating as i find more)
General Performance
debug.sf.hw=1
Edit existing line,
dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m
persist.sys.ui.hw=1

Update :
Increase the volume steps in-call :
ro.config.vc_call_steps=20
By Default, android offers seven audio levels for calls. This can be altered through this command , if you want to fine adjust the volume of your voice calls. This won’t increase the volume if it’s already low. But you can manage it by more precisely.
Values
Number of steps as integers. 7-20 is recommended. 7 is the default.
To Disable Boot Animation :
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
Increase Touch responsiveness :
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
Add any of these at the bottom of the build.prop using ES/ROOT explorer and save it..
Edit : Change the permissions to rw-r-r after edit (thanks to LenAsh).

My fault
I tried to modify build.prop, but I made a mistake, and let the two .prop files in folder (build.prop - new one and backup buildX.prop). And voila... bootloop
So I hope, that it was only because of my mistake. Anyway, I'll try it again (just modify the build.prop)

Always have a different extension on your backup. I have mine as build.prop.bak, no bootloop.
I might be wrong, but I haven't found any problems yet.
avoid those tweaks, I followed perfectly the instructions and I got trapped into continuos bootloop.
How do I push back my build.prop backup now? I have no recovery CWM or similar.

These tweaks never cause boot loop unless you don't know how to use them.. And if you followed the instructions, it's written in there that have a NANDROID backup..

I followed your instructions perfectly mate and it's not the first time that I have to deal with an editing of the build.prop.
Also I'm not saying it's your fault. BUT, those tweaks are causing bootloop.
I can't stand a reflash of the rom because I have too many things on the current one that I really can't lose.
In Q&A section I asked for help.

AC!D Sound Mod for LGOG with Xperia Launcher

Hey All
This mod was originally created by talented Viet modders over Tinhte.com. I'm just sharing it with you all. This works perfect with latest CM RC as well as releases based on CM 10.1 like Avatar and PAC.
The mod will install :
-Xperia Launcher v2.0.5b
-Walkman player
-Acid Mod For Audio
-Clear sound+ And Audio FX
The file can be downloaded below and is installed via CWM. Clear cache and dalvik after. Also, uninstall DSP Manager for better audio tweak control. You can do this using any superuser explorer.
After install and reboot, choose Xperia Launcher as default, its a lovely launcher IMO.

Nice work.
Probably I will try to install this manually, because I'm on stock ROM and I already use this excellent launch for a long time with my previous phones!

Good news is this mod was created exactly for stock, though i never got to install it on stock. You can try to install it just back up first.
Try pairing this mod with Soundboost app from Playstore and its the sweetspot!

Sure you can.
Can i install this mod and then uninstall the launcher and the player ? Because i use Nova Launcher and PowerAmp
Tried it on Vanir 4.3 (based on CM 10.2), before and after installation of mod i did "wipe cache" "dalvik-cache" and "fix-permissions", another time i tried only "wipe dalvik-cache" and... AC!D is working, but only partially, Clear Sound+ is working but changing presets inside ClearSound+ app does'nt work with Walkman or any music player. I thought it was conflict with DSP Manager, but uninstaling DSP Manager through Titanium Backup gave me nothing.
I've similar problem with Universal Ac!d Sound Engine (this one for all 4.0+ devices) , Nooizy work, but partially too... Sound compression (first option/technology) is working, but bass boost/ second option and rest aren't working including equalizer. So, please fix it.
I'll try how it works on older Android versions, maybe i did sth wrong... if yes, just tell me again what to do (i'm noob at OG )
Thanks in advance.
I tried on differents rom and I have the same problem, but on stock ROM E97510D 4.1.2 I have found a strange solutions, before to open the walkman music player with the clearaudio+ effects I open the stock music player or the stock video player and turn on the dobly surround in the effects, go back end after I can use the walkman player and clear audio+ working,the same if I use the Sound Enhancements,if not working at the first time just repeat again the steps and work, I hope to find someone to fix this strange things on this mod. because I can say this mod working very well, I use an application called SoundBoost free on the Market, and I am very happy whit this mod,but I have to repeat every time the same steps.I think it is not a big problem because the mod. at the final work to me except this.

Hey, how did you turn on Dolby Surroround? From what I associate, it was "Dobly App" in AppDrawer, but after installing this Acid version i don't see the Dolby app... I can see it using Root Explorer (/system/app) or in Settings->Apps... but i don't know how to turn on Dolby Surround.
(If I'm not mistaken there is "snd3254" file, so probably SRS should work too...) Maybe I did sth wrong, if yes, give me some tips
Ok I try to fix this problem, I will give news in the future.
Guys if anybody is interested to this mod. I have found the fix for the stock ROM and stock based ROM ,after a lot of test and work finally I fixed the problem. First install the mod. like at the description here on xda, and after just change the lines on the build.prop
I tested by myself on different ROM , I am now with Epsilon v3 and Everything works well.
Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false(this on Epsilon v3 not)
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
persist.audio.handset.mic=analog to
persist.audio.handset.mic=digital
Don't wipe cache and dalvik-cache after install this mod. if you do this you have a strange application update at every boot,just wipe data-factory reset, cache, dalvik-cache and come back to normal, no update application on every boot.
Don't use other equalizer, just ClearAudio+ or SoundEnhancements, uninstall FXmusic
widget and keep MusicFx, if samtime ClearAudio+ don't work just go in
App.Setting and close ClearAudio+ and SoundEnhancements, I don't have this problem but if you switch more time to one equalizer to another maybe you need to do this.
This is the final, I tested and I don't have problem, it's a little bit hard to modify the build.prop because it's to big and you can't see all the lines with Root Explorer but if you are a little expert you can do this on the PC like me, if someone need the modified build.prop for the E975 Epsilon v3 I can send but I don't know how upload the file, you neet to learn me and I can help.
This below is optional,if you want max audio change the kernel with FauxSound mod. or another that you know, but before to install Acid Mod. becouse after you need to wipe cache and dalvik-cache and it's not good for the reason above, o use SoundBoost, it work with this Acid Sound Mod. but for change the volume have turn the screen of, o use some widget, not a big problem, only when SoundBoost is on there is this problem, when is of no problem.
Sorry for my English but I am Italian.

I don't know how upload the applications but just download the apps. from the images above on the market and everything is ok, I change the volume with the Volume Control Widget and SoundBoost for the max audio, and after fix the lines on the
build.prop I got the stock Music player working with ClearAudio+ app,
For me this is the best Mod. I have tried on this phone, I tried everything I have found online but never I been happy.

Thanks to the modders have made this mod. and make me happy.
I don't know if I have posted something wrong, I am not expert on XDA, I tried to help some people that are not happy with the standart sound quality of this phone, if the installation go all right you are happy like me, gods job and sorry if it's a little bit hard to install this Mod, but it's normal, I think it's not easy to port all this things on a phone like this with really less support from the community. This is for root users or i can instal it on my stock rom non-root
Sent from my LG-E975 using xda app-developers app
It's for Root user because you have to modding the buil.prop in root/system
This is another description for another AcidSound mod. I prefer this one.
Now I use the Acid Sound Mod. Universal v5 on Savvy v4 Rom because I use only ClearAudio+ app. and I don't need all the rest, no Walkman cause don't like to me, and no problem when I wipe cache and
dalvik-cache, I fell better with this, more stable and no problem, nowhere, I taken the app ClearAudio+ from the site Acid Sound because in the v5 AcidMod. the app. is missing and I use the stock music player, awesome.
You need root and recovery.
1- wipe cache and dalvik-cache and install the Mod. V5,
2- install ClearAudio+ and reboot, or
if you know how, take from the v8 mod. with the file headset.so in root/system/lib and install manual
3- adding this lines below on the buil.prop
#Sony*Xloud*&*Clearbass*+
ro.semc.sound_effects_enabled=true
ro.semc.xloud.supported=true
persist.service.xloud.enable=1
ro.semc.enhance.supported=true
persist.service.enhance.enable=1
ro.semc.clearaudio.supported=true
persist.service.clearaudio.enable=1
ro.somc.dmnorm.supported=true
persist.service.dmnorm.enable=1
ro.sony.walkman.logger=1
ro.somc.clearphase.supported=true
persist.service.clearphase.enable=1
#Resampling
af.resampler.quality=255
persist.af.resampler.quality=255
#Beats*Engine
htc.audio.swalt.enable=1
htc.audio.swalt.mingain=14512*
4- change this lines on the build.prop
Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
(this it's important to make ClearAudio+ to work with the stock music player, stock video player, games and maybe more, without the Walkman player) check all the lines
5- reboot and it's ready, you can wipe now cache and dalvik-cache every time you wont with no problem.
I know, it's not easy if not a little bit expert of android, but it's not difficult, just made a backup before and if something goes wrong you can restore, when the Mod. Is really well installed you can feel the difference, if not there is something wrong, for me the v5 is better than the v8, but it's just my preference, if you like v8 follow my old post, if you like this v5 follow this post.
If I have time I can make a zip. ready to install if someone need, just remember I am not a developer, I am a normal guy and I don't assume responsibility.

Speakerphone
Hi, I am currently using this v8 mod together,with the suggested corrections in build.prop. And I must say, that this has much clearer audio and bass then ViPER4Android! However, I have one problem with this mod. Everytime I am in a call, and I want to put the phone on speakerphone, I loose all sound on the phone and have to restart it to make it work. Anybody else have this issue or know how to fix this?

I had exactly the same problem with acid audio v7 on stock Rom. I am now on modified stock epsylon Rom.

[FIX] Camera Hard Crash during Capture

My Gpro (and I assume everyone elses gpro)'s camera crashes when I take two pictures from my camera rapidly. It's a hard crash, so I cannot use it again until I restart my device. I usually run into this on Snapchat, but it happens on all camera interfaces.
To Fix, add this to your /system/build.prop and reboot:
Code:
camera2.portability.force_api=1
This forces the camera to utilize the legacy API, props to @Sultanxda
PS: Are you a developer? You should add this to your system.prop so that it's patched by default (or at least quote this in your OP)
Man this works, thanks bro
Sorry, kind of new where is the 'build.prop' file? I have been having this issue.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Use a root enabled file manager and goto /system/.
The easier way is by using my App Tame and simply adding the property to the forced properties section.
thanks, was loocking for this, workd for me!!!
