just got a used arc from ebay to upgrade from my x10, its got a cracked screen but still works so i got it cheap, problem is with the usb. it didnt come with a charger or usb lead but i thought the x10 cable would fit but it doesnt. is the arc cable different or do i have a faulty usb port and can the usb port be changed or is it built into the motherboard like it is on the x10?
Exact same mate.

Yeah i had the x10 and im still using the cable... it should be microusb, If its not.... something is up with your arc or at least your cable
cable still works fine on the x10 so thats fine, so is the usb part of the motherboard on the arc?

Did u connected it properly? It works just from 220 V using pc USb it doesnt work, also put phone in the dock till end
what about your usb cable? is it still good? sometimes the micro usb adaptor are getting loose, and it is sometimes connected n disconnected.
solution is, u try with another usb cable first then lets see if it works. if the problem still persist, it might be your dock charger problem.
Hello everyone,
This is my 2nd note II. My first device had a few problems and now this one seems to have a loose charger port. Also, when I connect this device to my tv via microusb, the tv screen flickers (could be an indicator of a faulty micro usb port). Has anyone had the problem of their charger wire falling out of the microusb port? What did you do to fix it? If you sent it to samsung did they return the device in working condition without any dings or scratches?
Thanks im adv

Mine was perfect for the first few weeks, but eventually got a bit loose so I replaced the USB cable which did the trick. Ive heard of other cases where the usb ports became loose, but not to the point of it falling off on its own.
Have you tried other USB cables on your phone?

hey i did try the usb wire that came with my samsung media dock... its a bit more snug, but it came off randomly after a while. my samsung otg usb cable fits great... the thing that concerns me is that sometimes when i connect my device to my media dock (uses the microusb port) which connects my phone to my tv, the screen on the tv flickers. this could be an indication of a faulty microusb port... but heres the confusing thing, ive tried transferring files to and from my computer via microusb and it works fine, so that would be an indication of a working usb port.
from what you have heard or read, was the consensus a problem with the usb port or the wire?
thanks
Yes, the wire was the culprit based on my reading.
Better have your phone checked. Im sure it's well within Samsung's warranty period
Ironically the best cable i use is a blackberry one, excellent secure fit

Shouldn't it be plugged to the HDMI port? How come it's plugged to the USB port instead?

in MHL , u plug usb inside usb port on phone and on other end you plug hdmi to hdmi hub in TV.
Xperia Arc S has no MHL support.
Hi, does anybody know whether the hdmi to micro usb work on xperia s? I mean i know it has a dedicated hdmi port but i accidentally wet my phone and now hdmi not working anymore but it.can still charge.. I dont want to have it repaired cause i heard it takes 2 months with their crappy customer service.
So the only alternative i have is buying an hdmi to micro usb. The one you use with xperia z i think.. Does this work on xperia s? Please help

No way, jose.
Guys I've have had problems with my original micro usb cable, it was not charging my phone anymore so I replaced with another micro usb cable. Now my device charges just fine, but when i plug my phone to computer it doesn't sees it anymore. It was fine 2-3 days ago. Why would that be? I didn't change or do anything. Is it something relevant to usb port pins? Any chance that they might be broken?
Edit: I've just googled about this problem and saw Xperia X10 has a lot of problems about loose usb port. I'm thinking same thing about my Xperia S.
75% loose usb port
sorry
