I would firstly like to thank everyone here at these Forums ever since my first HTC Touch that I flashed over to MetroPCS several years back these forums have proven of great help... I am once again stumped and need some help.
I have an EVO with Froyo 2.2 , Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1 Rom & Radio Baseband 2.15.00.09.01 and PRI 1.77 I rooted and flashed it over to MetroPCS everything works, talk, text even wifi .... The only problem is the mobile network does not turn on it says - Mobile Network "Turning On" and appears grayed out. I have double checked all my settings both in CDMA Workshop and QPST, and haved tried every trick I have seen in every forum.. I already called MetroPCS and made sure its not a issue with my data plan or my account.... Can somebody please help me fix this issue I don't know what else to do... ???
did you ever find a fix for this? because I'm having the same problem now. I haven't made any changes to the phone since the last time it was working, which was earlier today. Now it says 'turning on' under mobile network and it's grayed out. already tried rebooting the phone - didn't help.
Running the latest rom from htc, rooted using unrevoked - i did that a few days ago.
No data/network connection here and the Sprint site is down too. WTF?

ah ok - i didn't check the sprint site. Sounds like there was nothing wrong with my phone then, must have been something with sprints network.
My 3g connection was backup this morning, again without me making any changes on the phone. So i guess it was some temporary glitch with sprint.
Mobile Internet stuck on "Turning on" on my Evo
Even I have same issue after undating my rooted EVO (with unrevoked) stock rom (OTA 4.0) with 2.15.00.09.01 Base BAND to 3.70.651.1 (OTA 7-ROOTED) with 2.15.00.11.19 Base Band. After this the phone was running OK for 3-4 days but then suddenly the Mobile Network "Turning On" issue cropped up . Then I installed EViO 2.0 series latest rom and for 2 days the problem disappeared. However, it again appeared making me flash MikFroYo 4.5 rom. But to no avail. The Mobile Network is not connecting at all. It is just showing "Turning On" when enabled eiher throught settings tab or from power button. But it can only be closed by power button. The details of my software is as below:
Android Version : 2.2
Base Band Version : 2.15.00.11.19
kernel version : 2.6.32.17-gee557fd [email protected] #15
build number : MikFroYo v4.5
Software number : 3.70.651.1
Browser version : webkit 3.1
PRI version : 1.90_003
Prl Version : 00001
Hardware version : 0004
Hboot - 0.97.0000
Please tell me how to make mobile network (internet) operational again as Iam in India with a measly 1x speed and I would like to use it.
Gentlemen kindly help
Regards,
Nitin
I have since figured it out it was related to some QPST settings that had red lines in it and even though i clicked in the text box and it appeared to be taking all the settings i was programming it required for me to click some other button the ctrl i believe in order to get rid of the line and be able to program the settings in correctly. I have since gotten my phone to work perfectly. In my experience any issue you have after putting a new ROM is just because it wasn't properly wiped search these forums their is an all in one wipe or manually use the recovery to wipe everything before putting a new ROM on. Also if any pay attention to the recommended baseband, radio and or kernel for each ROM. Also read each ROM details as some have specific purposes like MetroDroid ROM. I am currently using Myn's Warm Z Two Point Two ROM on my EVO on METRO PCS and it runs better & faster than any other ROM I have flashed so far not to mention the interface is sleek and clean.
Well at least we were able to come out in the green and learned a lesson along the way.
Hi guys, I have rooted my htc desire and flashed with it with Oxygen.
However I have a problem - my phone will not connect to my mobile operator?
When I select "about phone > status > signal strength" that shows -93db and 10asu - So does that mean there is signal?
The desire was branded and locked to Orange. At first I thought it was a simlock issue, but I have a unlock code. Every time I restart the device it asks me to input the code, however it still does not allow me to connect to my operator (O2 uk).
After going through a few threads I am stumped so I am seeking advice! I have tried different radio versions to no avail, different ROMs also so can anyone offer some suggestions as to the solution please?
Anyhelp would greatly be appreciated, thanks!

1. Reset/restore your APN
settings - wireless & network - mobile networks - access points
You should see your provider and a check box. Press the menu button, select reset to standard and wait till it's done (or add manually).
The path was translated from german, so please look for the appropriate setting on your phone.
2. If your sd card doesn't mount or usb doesn't connect, search for usb brick fix here in the forum.
3. If 1 or 2 doesn't help, wipe everything (not your sd card!) and reflash your rom. After rebooting flash again the latest radio.
thanks for the responses, I have tried resetting apn but that did not work for me. I have however managed to solve this problem by restoring stock RUU and unrooting. I then reflashed oxygen and all is working fine.
My radio version is running on 32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09 currently, however I will update this to the latest version 5 radio and see if my connection or simlock occurs. Do you guys think that a radio update is necessary or that I should keep the one that I have now?
Thanks
any chance you could post how you restored stock ruu
After flashing the newest Paranoid Android and running for a few days I suddenly lost data. My phone states that my phone is roaming, so I tried turning data on and off and switching on airplane mode and then I settled on switching back to the ROM I was previously on, the latest MIUI and to my dismay saw that the same issue was occurring. So now my phone has no data on every rom I try and I dont know how to remedy this. If anyone has the same issue or anything to say that might help it would greatly appreciated. I still have 4 months to go on my contract and no money for Verizon's ETF or a replacement phone.

Have you tried re-installing your PRL? Call *228 and press send, use option 2. That'll re-load the preferred roaming list.
What recovery are you using (CWM or TWRP - and ver. #) and is your DI2 S-Off ? Please post your current Bootloader information (HBoot) and whether you have Backups for your (previous) Roms on your mSD card?
Assuming that your device can still making voice calls (SMS ??) - does it work over WiFi ? And, you have already done *228 option 1 - as it sometimes help reset it?
It is sometimes necessary to call VZW and speak to tech support for smartphone and they need to reset things and power cycle your device while you are on the line with them on a different phone to get you out of roaming, depending on the "radio" that your device is now. Hopefully, you did not somehow flashed the leaked non-VZW radio/kernel from China Telecom.
Before calling VZW, it would be helpful if you can flash a Sense-based ROM, either one of the stock zip file or Andybone's tweaked Sense Rom based on OTA, or the SkyRaider's Zeus v1.3 Sense Rom - and, if your phone was Sim-unlocked, can you check to see if it will work in GSM mode for voice & data (borrow a known-working AT&T or T-Mobile Sim card) Remember to do a Master Reset, wipe dalvik/cache & system before flashing a different Rom.
And, you should read up the sticky posts written here about restoring the device back to stock - just in case. The steps are slow & delicate, but it can be done - relax & don't panic.

I have done multiple AntiVenom wipes to no avail, and only WiFi is working for me. I have not yet attempted to flash an older sense based Rom so I will try that. My only question is can VZW access and get my phone out of permanent roaming with my phone having no data or 2G?
P.S. - I did not flash the Chinese radio/kernel. Just checked

I see, I've seen DI2 in similar situations but usually, VZW tech support can do some resetting of the stored info on their database to try to restore it, and the best way to make that easier is to restore/go back to a near/pure Sense-based ROM. Once you do that, and you are prompted to "activate your phone OTA" - try to make a call - if you can dail out but the call cannot go thru, you should hear an automated voice msg. that there is error processing your call, ask you to hang up, power down & restart - and try again after waiting 5 to 10 minutes. The msg. will ask you to call # **** - make sure you can call from a home/office/different wireless number as they will go thru the troubleshooting & power cycle/reset process - should take 10 or 15 minutes, and will have you make a test call & verify connectivity success at the end. Informed them that you've done a Master Reset. (FYI - This involved updating, re-generating the good old "A" security key(s) used to identify the phone and the ESN/MEID stored for each device - somehow, the flashing of some Roms & wipe/reset totally dumped clean all of that info, and it needed to be re-established. )
The next step is to re-flash a Sense-based Rom that's stock or close to it -

From the device's Settings - About Phone - look for your radio's info - is it .0312 or .0320 (ICS-based) or an older radio like 0.1111 - after you flashed the Sense Rom, please check it again, and if you could - follow the Sticky's to get the 0.312 radio or even the 0.1111 radio in a Zip file, copy/move to mSD card, restart into Bootloader & flash it - restart and see if it can make calls/use data. If not, VZW tech support is your best friend to reset those Android handshaking of the security keys as stored on their database ...

I will be doing all of these as soon as I get home from school. Thank you for all your help so far
Try dialing some of the *228 variants such as *22801, *22802, and so on. I had a similar issue where the radio got all messed up. Verizon store was so close to selling me a new phone, but when I made this suggestion the sales guy tried it and it cleared up my issue. My prl I think was totally hosed and needed to be reprogrammed ota.

So I have moved back to stock Sense 2.3.3 with S-ON and there is still no working connection. At this point would I call VZW? and since i cannot call from my cell phone would i still call the *228 number or not? Is it possible for them to access my phone when it cannot connect?

Hmm, still no luck at all. Yeah, dial *228 first and does it dial out at all, or do you get any recorded msg. or nothing happened at all? Make a note of it - then, call VZW from another line (800) 922-0204, Monday-Sunday 6am-11pm - you want to reach smartphone / tech support - tell them you have the HTC DI2 and you are a customer. They will verify your personal info and then proceed to the next steps - and, try to find a way to communicate and/or re-establish communication with your device OTA. Make sure your device is at least 75% charged and at a good 3G signal area, and it's helpful to let them know that other VZW devices at the same physical location have coverage & working signal.
Let's see them go about resetting the system, etc. ...
Hi Guys.
I have searched for this issue but cannot find anything specific to my case.
I have a rooted HTC Desire running InsertCoin and recently changed my phone network (new SIM) to Sure a relativity new phone network in Jersey (Cable and Wireless). When the SIM was first put in the phone connected to network but would not send SMS (error straight away). I checked the APN list and this was blank. I got the APN settings from the website and tried to add these (getting warning cannot detect SIM) but it would not save.
SIM works fine in Galaxy Nexus Stock 4.3 and S3 using CM11 - cannot to network and APNs visible + text/data works.
So I installed CM7 and CM10.1 and with these the phone would not connect to the network at first. However when I do in to search for networks a couple of times it finds SURE and connects. Adding APN gives no error messages but this will not save. Using APN tools from play store they say "You SIM card cannot be used" Sim state "UNKNOWN" + cannot detect operator code etc so it seems to be an issue reading some of the SIM. But when connected to network I can make calls and receive texts. I have tried messing with the GSM only, auto WCDMA settings in phone information and makes no difference.
I am on baseband 5.11.05.27.
Any ideas what could be causing these issues? I really think its an issue with the phone reading 'some' data from the SIM. The phone shop said we do sometimes have these issues with older phones and i should change my phone
Any help appreciated!

BUMP as I really need help - cannot send SMS or get data
Any ideas - should i try different radio?
Firstly upgrade radio to the latest one, as the one you have is not the latest. Secondly, try latest evervolv nightly, as it is based on kitkat and maybe it will help. Try these and post results.

Hi there,
Thanks for these suggestions - it has taken me a while because of USB driver issues but I have finally flashed the latest Radio 5.17.05.23 with a Stock HTC ROM and this did not make any difference - still says No SIM card when opening APNs. Then flashed to latest Evervolv 4.4 and just like CM before it will not let me save APNs and actually says 'No SIM card - C&W" on the lock screen.
Any other ideas - really seems like the phone cannot read the SIM properly. Works fine with other SIMs and the SIM works fine in other phones. Have 2 x HTC desires and same issue so must be problem with this model?!
Thanks
Bridgstfer
No other thoughts guys? Is this just a weird one where the HTC is too old?
Short - the core problem
I recently looked in to replacing the Android system with a Team Venom Viper ROM. I managed to unlock it with S-off and install TWRP and flash the Viper ROM. I saved a backup of the old ROM. Now, I wanted a stable ROM so I chose not the newest and in pone settings it says Android 4.4.2.
The phone is a Verizon phone (HTC 6500 LVW). I wanted total freedom to use to all over the world and play with it. However, I have a few issues that I think come from the same main issue.
1) I only get edge in US! No 4G, no 3G. Overseas in Europe, I briefly see the 3G sign but then it goes to “H” which has decent speed. I spend a ton of time changing the settings, they are fine. I use T-Mobile and thought I could kick off Verizon with Viper ROM.
Full - Additional issues
2) Images in text don’t work.
3) SMS texts often fail.
4) When I start the phone, a popup emerges: “Non Verizon Sim. The Simcard is from an unknown source” and in status emnu it says “tab to complete Simcard setup”. Then I go choose T-Mobile and it set standard settings to T-Mobile. Still only getting edge.
5) The phone often gets hot.
6) I recently started getting the error android.process.acore , but I removed the sync of Facebook (removed the apps) and flushed the the contacts, so that error is gone now.
The Ask
Does these all come from the same issue? I think I need to upgrade the ROM to latest VIPER ROM and maybe my firmware. My question. Is that the solution and what should I be aware of so I don’t make the same mistake as last time.
Any help is highly highly appreciated!!!!
Jungstar
The phone's radio does not have the 3G GSM or LTE bands to support US carriers. it only will get edge.
H is a form of 3G that the phone supports.
Update your firmware. To use the latest Rom, you need to be on the latest firmware and radio to help alleviate your other issues in the Rom. Also do a clean flash (wipe data, cache and system before installing your Rom.)
You can find the latest firmware in Santod's thread in the development section with instructions on how to flash it.
