[Q] Swype language get's deleted after reboot - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hi,
I'm having a strange issue,
I was having WiFi problems with my 2.3.5 rom S5660OXXKS2.
voetbalremco told me this one has baseband problems and I should flash Russian S5660OXXKS5 firmware to fix it.
Which did, I'm very happy ! The only issue is, the Swype keyboard of this rom doesn't have Dutch dictionary included. So restored my Titanium backup which does include Dutch dictionary.
It works fine, but everytime I reboot my phone, Dutch dictionary is gone and I have to restory my Titanium backup once again.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening ?

Try pushing it to /system

I have no idea what you just said
How do I push it to /system ??

if you can restore the language pack, or swype, its problably a .apk install file.
if you can copy that apk from your /system/app, were it problably is when restoring it from titaniumbackup, copy it, save it on your sd. then reboot, and its problably 'gone' from your app drawer, but still in /system/app... then install it like a normal .apk when its placed at /system/app.
then reboot and it should be , as a system app.

Swype has another file installed in /system in addition to the APK:
/system/lib/libSwypeCore*.so (libSwypeCore.2.72.77.24602.so on the 5660M MUGK3)
Try matching the two and let us know if that fixes the problem.

Thanks, I tried this, but unfortunately no luck. When I install the APK I moved to SD, Dutch language cannot be selected in Swype.
It seems data is getting wiped after restart. I made a few screenshots:
The first screenshot is after rebooting. The second one after restoring TB backup and selecting Dutch language and typing a word that's not in the dictionary. So a lot of data is getting wiped after reboot

Hi Darkshado, mine is named libSwypeCore.so, without the version number:

"fixed" it.
Well I fixed it, kinda.
I delete the system app and installed the newer Swype Beta, which let me dowload Dutch language. And this one doesn't get wiped !
I still find it strange though....

Also: I don't think it's a good idea to move something like a keyboard to SD.

Quick question guys.
Which ROM has Swype in it?
Swype is considered warez here at XDA and is not permissible to be included in any ROM.
The only exception to this is, if the Original, Unrooted and Stock version of the ROM/RUU that the custom ROM is based on has Swype included by the manufacturer and/or the carrier.

Swype is included in all samsung roms, maybe also others.
its not warez

All Samsung Gio ROMs?
My wife has/had a stock SGS and no Swype was on it.
I'm not gearing up to ban the whole Galaxy Gio forum for using Swype Just thought I'd ask.

If im not wrong, its preinstalled in many samsung roms.
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium

Indeed. It came preinstalled with my phone. But after flashing a Russian stock rom it didn't have Dutch language available.
And I never said I installed it to Sd did I?
On another note I really love the Swype beta. It's even better than the preinstalled one. it's available for free download, so not warez.

Ok guys, cheers for the info.
The Swype Beta is warez if it its baked into custom ROMs. This is the stance taken by Swype not XDA, we have received C&D letters from them in the past.

Oh ok.
But this is not about baking it in custom rom, he wanted to use it to have the dutch language

I know, I just asked a question to clarify something.

No problem, you're a good mod

Swype 3 Beta

Swype has released a new beta version!
http://beta.swype.com/
Uninstall swype using Titanium backup and then follow the instructions on the website. I really like the new horizontal word predictor instead of the popup and the tap correction is also a godsend.
The new beta is nice, text selection seems to be better, double clicking words is back which ive been missing bad! The word selection window is different too, cant decide if i like it or not yet.
Another perk, all my skins work again :

If the "stock" Swype we currently have gets updated in a firmware update or whatever, will it override the beta? I'm wondering if I should wait for future updates or just install the beta.

id imagine it would overwrite it as I couldn't instal them side by side,
Although the stock one is in system/app and the new one is in data/app.
I wouldn't expect samsung to update to the new version though (3.x) as the
Stock and beta ones both have different layouts.

If I want my Swype in this color on my SGS2, do I have to install the Jet black full (qwertz + qwerty) and the galaxy S layout (qwertz + qwerty)? Or only the Galaxy S layout?

You want jet black full. Galaxy S layout is for the old galaxy S stock layout, its nothing like the beta. do you use qwerty or qwertz?
Edit : Btw it only works with the beta, not with the built in swype.
I like it very much, use it now also on Galaxy Tab where it has a smaller variant than original keyboard...
Any links to the themes?
Mine's just stuck at "Licensing Swype, please wait..."
I froze the old swype though.. does it have to actually be uninstalled?
Nop, I froze my old swype and installed the new one and it worked fine.
But when i restarted the phone, the dictionary failed to load = /...reinstalled and it's working again. Not sure if it'll forget the dictionary if i restart again.

Well I didn't actually freeze mine, I just went ahead and
deleted the swype apk first then restarted, then installed the
new beta. I'm using a skimmed down tweaked apk though that
only has one language and is 1.5mb.

QWERTY is the one I use.
But at the moment it will not download swype beta anymore. It just keeps saying downloading swype. I uninstalled it because the dictionary wouldn't load.
I also noticed it didn't store the added words since yesterday.
Can somebody please upload thema swype 3.0 bèta file? Because I keep getting downloaderrors. I hadden in. Installed before. So nog thema swype installer but thema *.Apk file of the program itself.

Barclays Pingit

Hi,
I've been searching around for a few weeks now, looking for a solution to run Pingit on my rooted device. Stumbled across this this evening, and followed the steps to change the root access of my phone.
This still doesn't enable me to even download the app from the Play Store, however.
I'm running Slim ICS 3.5, and I'm wondering if the app is not yet compatible with Android 4.0.4? I've look all over the place for the APK file to give it a go manually, but to no avail.
If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I can get it to display in the market, but download does not work. It says not available for your country. I am from India.
It says you need a UK mobile number.

Thank for trying anyway.
I can find it in my previously installed apps list, but it won't let me download it with this ROM, citing that it's incompatible with my device. This goes for apps like Sky Go, too. It's almost as though the Play Store doesn't recognise my phone as an SGS2!
I've tried downloading the .apk file with the APK Downloader extension for Google Chrome, but I get a '403 -forbidden' error. Only on this one app, mind you.
If anyone has the app already and can extract it for me, I might be able to install it manually and hide root to use it?
Flash Siyah kernel and install ExTweaks of the Play store, with ExTweaks you can remove root and Pingit works fine!

Cheers mate! Much appreciated!
Tried renaming it from .zip to .apk, but the install fails. Then re-read your post and realised that it's just the data, not the app itself. I'm an absolute noob, so don't really have any suggestions on how to extract the apk file, but someone else might?
Sorry mate, I know what it was.....
...I was dual booting a Sammy ROM with Siyah!?!
When I look on the Play store I don't have the same message but if I try to install from Slim I get a 942 error?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Swyped from a distant star, the other side of the Galaxy on my Slim ICS powered GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2©
Aah okay. I've not even begun to think about dual-booting.
I did, however, flash the stock Samsung ICS ROM and installed Pingit. Backed it up with CWM so that it would make a backup of the app. Then I restored Slim and Siyah so I was back to where I started.
Tried to restore the app with Titanium Backup. It says that it's been successful, but there's no sign of the app in the drawer or any data at all.
Would have been easier to just back it up with TB then restore, I've never tried extracting from a nandroid? I know it's possible, I just haven't tried.
I've managed to restore Pingit from TB onto Slim ICS 3.6 but haven't tested it because when you uninstall it you loose data and have to phone the Pingit helpline to get your account reset, will test tomorrow.
I can't extract the apk because it's a private app for security reasons, my knowledge of apk's is limited.
Titanium is your only hope or Siyah dual boot!
How do you install the new Swype Beta?
I want to try the new beta that was released today. I currently have Swype installed on my GS3 by default, it was pre-installed after the last update. How do I use the new beta? Do I have to uninstall the current version of swype I'm using? Will any issues arise?
I am using the new beta that came out today. It seems to be fine. You will need to remove the Rom version before you can install the beta. There is a procedure around here somewhere.
You can use something like root explorer to delete Swype.apk from system/app and you also have to remove the .lib from system/lib
Have either of you (or anyone reading) installed this beta and used it for the LIH leak? Because the stock version wouldn't automatically space while typing something in your browser. E-mail, messaging, etc. worked fine.
You need to download and run the beta-installer first. Once you run that on your phone it will download the actual aplication and install the full version for you.
You should be able to just run the Swype installer and have both the preloaded and beta run at the same time, however there is currently a bug in the installer that won't let you download the beta. On their website it says a fix will be released the week of October 22, I'd just wait until then and then install, hope this was helpful!
If the version of android is 4.2.2 or probably even 4.2.x You can try, but your at MODERATE/HIGH risk of either FC loop or just boot loop. If you comfortable getting out of those than should be fine to test......I don't know if PA modifies the stock android keyboard or leaves it alone....
If you want to try, make a nandroid backup first and copy the PA keyboard you mentioned to sd , then try two things...
One, rename the themed apk to match the latinime.apk you mentioned earlier, push to system/app and fix permissions and owner, then reboot
That doesn't work, you can try to just push LatinImeGoogle.apk to system/app without overwriting the existing..
Strange. Probably we have different flashing archives, cause I didn't delete AOSP keyboard. After the L keyboard flashing I simply chose it as a default disabling AOSP one in settings.
This archive is meant to be flashed via CWM or TWRP recovery. Not the stock one. I guess you can search the web for genuine .apk and try installing it as a usual app.
