Hello,
i own a S-OFF Desire HD for about a year now and i've flashed serveral roms now.
For about a month i use Coredroid with a recommended radio and never got problems with it.
Since a couple of days i got serious wifi problems with the device.
I always use wifi when i am at home and it always worked but now i always loose connection. Then the device tries to reconnect, it works for a couple of minutes and then the connection is lost again.
I did not change my Wifi AP and i did only Market updates, nothing else changed.
I will try to reinstall the rom with a full wipe and test if it works better but i think this could be a hardware defect?
What do you think?
Thanks
Daniel
Have you re flashed the ROM yet?

Hey guys I just got my HTC Desire (Telus version) today and so far im loving. I setup the 3G to work with my carrier (Fido) and everything works fine and dandy, but the problem is after a while of not using the phone and then unlocking it to go back on the internet doesn't seem to work. The 3G and WiFi are still on but I need to turn them off then back on for it to work. Has anyone had problems with that before?
Cheers
Okay so I pinpointed the problem, supposedly when the screen turns off and the phone goes into Power Save Mode the WiFi loses connection. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can try? I bought the phone and its running android 2.2 and it is running Cyamogenmod-6.0.2-Desire.
Should I downgrade to android 2.1 just to see if it may work? Or maybe a different rom? I'm open to anything right now as I think I may sell the phone cause of this problem.
I don't have this problem with NeoPhyte's AuraxTSense 8.0 rom, I would kindly suggest that you give it a try.

I have just spent an absolute age with HTC tech support, and the answer to the few that have been suffering with no data via wifi is................send your handset in for repair.
I honestly have completely lost the will to live, no matter what i say to try and convince them the issue is software related as i can use 2.2.1 absolutely fine, it seems to completely be over everyones head, i even spoke to a manager, who after listening to everything i said, who then spent 3 minutes in silence came back with "broken wifi module"
Arghh, they now want to book my handset in for repair, which i am reluctant to do as they quote a turn around of 20 days currently, i dont want to be without a handset that long.
all i want is gingerbread on my handset and be able to use WiFi, 3G works perfectly
Has anyone had any luck in solving this? its not a router issue, i have tried 4 different routers, its not a signal issue (i have a full signal, and its not dropping the signal), i have tried every 2.3.3 custom rom and stock rom out there and still no data Via WiFi, tried different radio's, and different kernels,
If i go back to using the Android revolution 2.3.2 beta, it works fine, so its defo since the 2.3.3 update.
any help from anyone would be so gratefully recieved i will buy you a pint!
Hi there,
Have you flashed the matching RIL's for your radios? A similar issue affected me but it was only with CM7 and ARHD. I flashed the radio in my signature (good WiFi performance for signal and battery life) and the corresponding RIL and all was working after a couple of reboots.
Hope this helps.
i have indeed pal, really really struggling with this.
A work colleague has just completed his OTA update at work, same issue,
at least i know its not just mine
im wondering if its something to do with the wifi driver in the ota,
Actually its not just the ota, tried the RUU just now, same issue
any Dev's got any clues?
Mate,
I´ve downgraded the ROM as per this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003), and now it is working perfectly. No need of gingerbread, I noticed that I do not need it anyway. Instead of that, my baby is alive and kicking againg.
Cheers.

im back on LeeDroid 2.2.1 custom rom and everything works like a charm, there isnt anything on gingerbread i need, but i want the option, i prefare the menu, but i can not be without WiFi. I have just sent HTC a humerous letter/email, i have spent hours on the phone with them today.
Sent LeeDroid a pm, see if he has any idea why this is, or if there is anyway to sort it
hopefully someone soon can come up with something, there are only a few of us with the problems, but even so HTC should release a patch or something to rectify it. A guy who has a T-Mobile branded device at work has updated fine, but myself and another colleague (both unlocked sim free devices from the carphonewarehouse) have the no data issue via wifi
i am losing the will to live
Clean Desire HD, no root. Received FOTA 2.3 one month ago. Wifi is not working since then. HTC service UK returned device as "repaired" but it still does not work.
WIFI does not work mean that I can connect to router, but no traffic flow.
(I did reset router many times)
some facts:
1) I have a Bebox wireless router at home (thomson 585). I have just tested 5 laptops: sony, 2 lenovo, hp and fujitsu. Every single one works with the wifi. PSP, nokia n97 and walkman - all work with wifi as well. The only device in the house which does not is Desire HD.
2) I have also tried setting up wifi spot on nokia n97. ALL laptops managed to connect and access internet. Desire HD does not even see this wifi hot spot, the hotspot does not show up after repeated scans.
3) I have also tried setting up ad-hoc networks on two laptops, thinkpad and vaio. HTC desire HD does not even see these networks, while other devices are able to connect.
HTC has tried to repair this wifi problem over the phone and email (silly stuff like resetting, disabling settings backup, removing sim etc).
HTC has tried to repair it in the service centre and failed (and lost battery in process).
Before I send it back for another round of torture at HTC service centre, I want ask you guys for a help. Any ideas?
Is there any way to reflash the phone with official firmware without voiding the warranty?
try redownloading the new rom and reinstall it.
Yep, just tried - no luck. But!
I have just downgraded to 1.32 - wifi is working perfect again! i did not even have to reboot the home router. Now testing the rest of functions.
So, 2.3 update has clearly serious issues. And HTC is clearly clueless how to fix it.
2.3 has wifi drop issues, which can fixed via patch if rooted. Other then that no issues.

do you have a link to the patch ?
Hi,
seen similar behavior on another android device. Connection to the Router was o.k. but no data flow. After entering a IP adress etc manually everything went fine.
bye
Sven
I had problems with my wifi router (a Belkin Double N+) and GB Sense ROMs - it would connect, but take several attempts to do so. It would get as far as authenticating with the router, then fail, try again, and eventually connect.
I tried various custom ROMs and even the stock ROM without any luck, and it had been fine on Froyo. Tried altering all kinds of router settings as well.
What finally worked for me was switching the router's wifi security from WPA2 to WPA. I imagine the GB wifi drivers didn't get on well with my router's chipset. Might be worth a try, if you haven't already.
I'm having, to be fair, a small issue not found on the stock Rom. So if anyone has an idea what it is or how to fix it. Very much appreciated.
Right, I use my phone to play music in my car (Toyota prius) through Bluetooth. I've done so for a year or so one my desire hd. Then a few weeks ago I switched to the one x. Stock Rom, connecting to Bluetooth was fine. Reconnecting as well. And now the issue: I can connect for the first time (pairing), but when I try to reconnect it won't work. I have to delete (unpair) the connection and recreate it before able to use it again. So whenever I loose the connection, the only way the establish it again is to re-pair the connection. I've tried with 6.20 and with the new 6.40 version. I've went back to stock and working correctly then again. Full wipes.. multiple times. Yet I can't find any posts searching for it so I must be missing something.
Appreciate the help. Currently enjoying leedroid 6.40 very much as battery live is just amazing (worth the hassle of this bt issue).
Ps. Just don't tell me it's some button I forgot to press... If that's the case, I'll /facedesk myself a few times ;-)

Hiya mate,
I think this problem could be on the new stock rom too. Someone's posted in the General Forum along exactly the same lines...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694096
Connecting my One X to my BT car radio always worked fine. After installing 1.29 however I have problems. When connecting, it connects for a couple of seconds and then BT and Data shut down. I get the warning that there is a problem with Com.android.phone
I have to restart the phone to get back my data connection.
Anyone have any suggestion?

Sorry it's not a solution, but at least it's not just you or LeeDroid
Cheers, I also tried different kernels, but nothing.
We'll see in the future, it's no biggy.
Hello everyone,
I just recieved the Desire HD from a friend of mine who upgraded, and I seem to have a lot of connectivity problems. It was unrooted, and the first thing I did, was downgrading and rooting it succesfully. Afterwards I flashed Jellytime, and there the connectivity problems occurred. Since I use the phone on a daily bases, I hoped switching to the more stable rom Android Revolution 7.0.4 would help. But that turned out to make not so much of a difference. A final option is switching back to stock rom, but i hope to find another solution because I love smoothness of custom roms. My friend also said he hadn't have any problems that are similar to mine.
Also i would like to note that I had to flash the Android Revolution HD 7.0.4 two times. At the first attempt the wifi stopped working after some days of using. It said "unable to scan for networks", the phone and data connections worked, but still with the same connection problems.
What exactly happens is basicly that the connection just drops at random, the most annoying thing is that is hard to get it back. Switching from airplane and back rarely works. That only leaves a full reboot which takes a lot of time, and just gives me a 50% chance of getting my signal back.
However it isn't always the whole connection that drops, sometimes it's just the data connection. And often when i try to fix it by turning the data connection on or off it will freeze on "Turning on/off", and again a full reboot is necessary to fix this.
My assumption is that this problems is radio related, but I am not quite sure since i do not fully understand the meaning of it. That why i also rather not touch the radio.
I hope you guys have a clever solution or good advice for me, many thanks in advance!

1. If you reinstall Jelly Bean at some point, make sure that Settings -> Wifi -> Advanced -> Avoid poor connections is unchecked.
2. Since ARHD is also unstable (and I'm assuming a you flashed after a full wipe of /system, /data, and /cache), I would certainly consider flashing a newer radio. It's not too scary; just make sure you do your reading and research beforehand.

ARHD is THE most stable ROM for our phone....
But yeah a new radio couldn't hurt. And reflashing with a full wipe.
If not its most likely a hardware fault

Sorry, I meant since HIS ARHD installation was unstable it was probably not the ROM. Should've phrased that better.

No probs dude. I was like WTF thats not right lol. Yeah ARHD is undoubtedly one of the best 'stock' experiences. It should work fine on his device though

Well yes i performed a full wipe with their super wipe script from their topic. I guess I indeed start looking if a radio fixes my problem..
Let me see:
The phone was not rooted before and it worked fine untill you rooted it?
The problems are for both data and wifi?
Longshot, check the battery cover.

The are atm only with data and normal phone connection. The wifi problem was fixed by a factory reset, so i wiped the phone and wifi worked fine. I found that this was the only worked for people with the same problem.
Then i would have to buy a battery cover, since i dont know anyone else with a dhd

What I meant to say was to check the battery cover if it was properly placed. Sorry I can't help more at the moment, my mind is in a different place.
