I'm on blazer v4.0 and been reading about market now changed to play store. One of my friends has this phone "not rooted" and today he already has the updated market pushed. Here are the changes I noticed.
Name changed to play store (even under applications), everything else the same. My question, mine still shows market. Anyone else got oTA change on rooted phone yet? How do we get this update? Although minor, but I still want it...
Mine ota'd on dark ics, name stayed market on icon so yours may have updated as well have u gotten a TOS accept decline popup since yesterday? Thats how i knew mine updated, build version is reading as 3.4.4 under settings in the market

I got an ota with aokp alpha 2 rom rooted
I got the ota on the 7th. I had a shortcut on my screen with the old market which no longer worked. Had to delete it and drag the play store to my homescreen and I was all set.

Go to application in settings and clear cache and data. Open market a few times and it should update. If not, here's the apk:

Android Market 3.3.11
I hope outside link is okay(Download link mirror):
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...te-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/
What's changed? So far, we've found:
New setting: Auto-update apps (presumably, sets all apps to auto-update mode, woohoo!)
New setting: Update over Wi-Fi only
New setting: Auto-add shortcuts (automatically adds homescreen shortcuts for new apps, ala Honeycomb)
Smaller font
New app drawer icon
Microphone (voice command) button in search menu
Star rating chart on app pages
Minor UI tweaks
Thanks for the link but the last time I downloaded elsewhere it was fished with phonesky

New Market link is up in many tech sites, including android central... Grab it from your choice of site. Android police been around and seems to be reputable... Got mine up and running right now... Can't vouche for it, but grab it from your source of comfort zone or wait few days or week and should be pushed to all...
Search is your friend

IMO Minor and welcome changes
I got mine from android central this morning. Looks good.
Subtle changes that make it much better looking.
Like the auto update default setting.
Mine updated itself overnight.

From what I understand it should work with both because it's not a theme, its just like an app which will replace /update to the new android market.

I don't have the new market yet... And I DON'T want auto update set automatically... I don't want to lose a working version of an app because the developer updated his app and broke something.
It autoupdated on my unit but, It is not showing all apps including paid apps and gives me this unit is not compatibly with certain apps. running Starburst 1.9.5

Well then uncheck the box? lol
I like it, makes it easier than having to constantly check.
Also, honestly, how often does an update break an app?
I've had it happen to me once.
Started using this a few days ago and so far so good. I like the small changes they made to it and so far all of my apps show up fine.
Works great on both of my phones. Thanks!

I just installed the ICS Beta III
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361
A half hour later or so I get an email from Google 'Welcoming me to my Galaxy Nexus'.
Has this happened to anyone else???
Did you happen to wander into the about section and click on system updates?

Nope, I flashed the ROM then downloaded a couple of apps from the Market as I was doing that I got the email.
All the links go to Google. I am just wondering is it something buried in the ICS code. Once you log on with your Google account it sends out a standard email to the account.
I don't really want to bother any of the dev's with it. They have enough to worry about right now without someone hassling them about something that is not that important in the grander sceme of things.
It's because the galaxy nexus is the only ICS Device with release codes for market so far. That will disappear once a more similar HTC device is released with ICS and we have a broader selection of release codes to choose from. Earlier beta's ran on test codes. They can be changed in build.prop.
Cheers man. I just could not understand it since it did not happen when I flashed the 1st and 2nd beta roms.
Thanks for posting this MrBC I also got this email and was curious about it.
I got this email as well MrBC...
Of course they can track what ROM use are using to browse android market. For example, I have recently update to Android revolution 2.3.5 and now not able to install few app which I used to have earlier on stock ROM 2.3.4.
I also got this
just ignore it lol
what i wondered was if it thinks we have a nexus why can we still not see some android apps lol
It's still beta so there are plenty of bugs. Its possible that there is a framework bug, or some component is missing. Then there is still the fact the a lot of apps on market are listed as not compatible with ICS. I'd expect it to take until 2012 before we have a fully functioning ROM and a fully working market.

OK here goes ...
I got a Galaxy Nexus on a new plan with Vodafone Australia and passed on my Desire HD to my Mrs.
The G Nexus came with 4.0.1 installed.
I havent rooted the GNex, but the DHD is rooted and running English version of MIUI from miuiandroid.com.
Cut back to yesterday, when I tried to install an app from Market on my GNex. Its called "My Vodafone" and is published by Vodafone Australia. It didnt come up when searched on Market app on my GNex.
Then I tried to search for the app on my wife's DHD. Same thing doesnt show up. She's with Vodafone as well. I know the apps there on Market because ppl have installed it.
Even more surprising is that a friend of mine who is with a different provider (Optus) can see the app in his Market app on his GNex !!!!!!!!!!!
Then I try to get it via the web based market.android.com.
Logged in, searched for the app, but again it says its not compatible.
What could be wrong ?
Is it the phone/ICS/carrier that is causing this to happen ?
Apart from this I am getting turned off by this fragmentated, rugged experience of using Android. ICS was supposed to be more polished than ever !
But sadly, it hasn't lived upto its mark for me..
I have had other issues with the GNex/ICS but this one is the worst one so far.
What can I do to install this and other apps which are showing on my friends GNex, but not on mine
The developer must update the app to show its compatible (in the market) with ICS.
I would pull the .apk with titanium backup from your wifes phone and side load it to your phone.

Its not that straight forward. The app is showing on my friends GNex which also runs on ICS !!!!!!
I just received an update from tmobile, I was already on 2.3.6 and still am after the update, however some of the live wallpapers that originally came with the phone have been removed including my favorite the nexus. Is there any way to get this back? Also, I am not rooted as I am waiting for the official ICS update.
You can do woad live wall paper from the market. Usually if you know the name its easy to find but. For future reference root and back them up with titanium back up

Hi everyone,
Just got my new Samsung S2X (SGH-T989D) from koodo, try to download NFSWM, but only found the game is not compatible.
I heard people with S2 can play the game just fine, its that true? I figure it could be the Adreno 220 GPU or the stock 4.04 Rom causing the problem.
Can someone show me how to make the game work if its possible?
Thanks for reading
Koodo GS2X here, NFS works fine on my phone. Though I am running Liquid ROM. Are you on the stock ROM? Try installing the app, then go to settings > apps > force stop. Then clear cache and data, then uninstall and reboot. Reinstall to see if it works.
I e-mailed the developer and their only response was that they don't support rooted phones. You can try e-mailing google to find out if there's an issue specifically with our phone.
Thanks for response. I cann't find the game on android google play at all, it only shows on pc version but with incompatible sign. I am new to android and running stock firmware s2x. Maybe google and ea only.add t989 to the device list and forget t989d an

It has nothing to do with being rooted. It's a region issue. I looked into it, plus spoke to someone from their tech division. Something sbout certain US regions aren't supported yet. Basically, the game runs on our devices, no matter root, or not....just being held up by EA.

I have went back to stock rom at one point, and remembered to search the play store, but it wouldn't show up, again. I went on google and pulled it up from there, and it said incompatible.
