Hi. I rooted my wife's Epic 4g this morning, and tonight realized that her Market icon is missing from the Applications list. Anyone know how to get it back?
Thanks!

Did you check for Google Play?
That's the new market. The icon's changed colors and logos, but it retained its shape.
Seems logical to think that it may have possibly updated to Play during the change.
If Play's not there either, you may have to search for a Market apk.
What ROM did you flash? Cyanogen? If yes, did you download gapps yet?

No ROM, just rooted and CWM.
Weird thing is, I rooted both my and my wife's phones yesterday. Both are setup pretty much exactly the same. But sure enough, mine has Market and hers has Google Play Store! Weird...
Thanks Sean.

It all depends on where your phones are in Googles update queue and when you accessed the market.

No worries, always happy to help. If it makes you feel better, you're not alone. I answered another thread for a guy who was having the same problem with the same solution.

I'm reading good things about Vlingo as an in-car utility. Also read that it's Spring specific and supposedly available in the app market. I'm not seeing it, which I assume either means it got pulled or that rooted and rom'd devices can't see it.
Anyone have any direction to offer?
It is in the market. I just checked. Do a search and you should find two Vlingo apps.

I just went into the market and click the Sprint tab at the top right and there it was as the very first item. I am rooted and am using OMJ's ROM.

Can you post it for those of us who don't have Sprint?
isn't it pretty much the same as google voice actions? except the google product doesn't have an option to update facebook.

Got it, thanks! Not sure why it wasn't showing up earlier.
Actually...now that I think about it, I may have searched the first time using App Brain and the second using Market.
In any event, thanks.
Can someone please pull the actual .apk ?
Thanks
Anyone surprised we still have 2.3.6 on this beast when several newer versions have been released? Not ready to root, so haven't replaced the apk yet....
Mines updated after I opened the market up and signed in with my gmail account.

Heh, I factory reset my phone the other day and was surprised to see a different looking market app... must have been 2.3.6.
Then I hit the back key and it was updated to 3.1.5 again, which was the only version I'd seen on the phone before.

I have had it for several days though. I have wiped data for the market application too.
Yea, I think we all start with the old market and then it automatically updates!
Mine updated in the first couple mins.

after wiping data the second time and resetting the phone, market did end up updating. But until after a few days!
Weird...I have had the phone for a day and I am still on the old market. I guess I should just wait it out and it will upgrade eventually? Is there a way to force a market update?
Thanks!

Go to Settings -> Applications, find the market app in the list, and clear data/cache
Open the app back up and it should update shortly
I use the old market
you have to re-install the apk (hint you can get it from the cyanogenmod gapps link)
and then you have to FREEZE "market updater" using titanium or some other software that will freeze apps
this way market wont update as soon as you sign into the market
I prefer the old version, since it sees my app list better, and shows me what updates I need....the new one wont show updates on mine for some reason for ALL my apps, only a few

I like the old market as well. I hate having games mixed In with apps. Don't understand that. The games have a seperate section.

I've seen that certain apps in the market say that my device is not compatible with the app. I didn't really think twice about it until today I saw that Google maps is one of those apps. This wasn't the case earlier today.
Has anyone else been having this problem?
What do you think the problem is?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Solved - Reason for issue was due to my changing the DPI for enhanced resolution
I'd like some sort of answer to that too, my phone says that maps is compatible, but Youtube isn't. I tried clearing market data and cache on the off chance that something was goofy there, but it didn't help. It even says "incompatible" when I go to the web version of the market from my computer, and won't let me install.

K, i figured out the problem. Its because i changed the DPI in my build.prop in order to get a better resolution. I guess the apps are compatible with the resolution that i set it to, so it just says that its not compatible with my device.
I searched, and didn't find anything. Is there a dark gmail for the galaxy nexus?

I'm using v 4.0.2 with no problems on a rooted but otherwise stock GN
Thanks a lot! I had a dark Gmail app in GB for a while, but it stopped working.
I don't know why Google doesn't make a dark Gmail - it looks better, and is easier on the eyes

Google should do this officially. It would be akin to adding the day/night mode from Google books.

As I understand it you'll need root access to delete the old gmail apk and move the new one to system, so yes.
You don't need CWM or a rom though, just root access on a stock rom and recovey will be fine.
Well I had to take it off, somehow it seems my google music stopped working after installing this. I made a nandroid backup beforehand and as soon as I rolled back my music worked again. Strange. Really seems weird that would cause any issue at all... Maybe it somehow messed up the account syncing since it would only crash the music when I tried to stream music, local content was fine.

Awesome, trying this now. Been hoping for this. The all white makes my eyes water in the morning because it is so bright...
The date on each email looks a little funny because its color is off, and at times goes outside the border. Also the read vs unread black/grey are very similar. It works though. I'll probably live with it.
I've been using this dark gmail app for days and like it. But just today i realized i went to compose a message and there is no way to send the final email. Am i missing something? Doesnt matter whether its a new email, or a reply to an existing email message, i cant send anything!
Am i being stupid or can someone test or confirm this? Thanks.
http://www.rujelus22.com/evo/downloads.php
Been using these for a few weeks on gummy and CNA. Working great and they look good too.
Ok after more digging, this dark gmail is acting weird for me. It is the new ice cream version for everything including inbox etx. But when i compose a new email or reply to existing one, the compose window goes back to the gingerbread one, AND it has no send button. And no action bar etc. But if i go back to the inbox its fine there. I just cant compose.
Only change ive done is 2 days ago flashed the transparent status bar system ui apk. Im on stock 4.0.1. Anyone know what the heck could be going on here?

i just installed the gmail app from that link, and it is the old version just like it said. not the new ICS version. dammit i just want black gmail!
this might help other people. the link in the beginning of the thread had a broken gmail apk, the send button was missing with other stuff. it was all fixed and can be had over at this thread from the nexus s forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412997
that thread actually links back to the one at beginning of this thread, but dont know yet if they updated to the fixed send button version. anyway this has been driving me nuts and glad i finally found the solution.
regarding the other link to the (http://www.rujelus22.com/evo/downloads.php) i tried the google + from that and it also did not work, and broke my system UI. so i dont know if it needs to be for 4.0.3 or what, but i'm on 4.0.1 and it doesnt mention any info about that. hope this saves others some time!

We just don't get it. Old Xperia L could play it, but the S3 get's no love on the game for some reason,.
Its an issue with 4.3 on the S3 and I don't know why they haven't been able to fix it. I did get it to run a while back but had to install an older version that I knew worked because I used to run it
Yeah the older versions worked perfectly but the new one is not.

This new versions been out for a while. I dont think theyre doing a bug fix.
Ps: does anyone know how to disable the update notification in the old versions. i cant play with data/wifi on because it keep bugging me to update to the new version. it takes me to the market and as you know its "incompetible"
If enough people email the dev it might motivate them to fix it. Especially if everyone starts demanding refunds and leaving poor reviews. No guarantee of course, but its more guaranteed that nothing will happen if no one tries to make it happen!
In app manager most apps have a checkbox for display notifications. Maybe that'll help?
