Hi all,
Please excuse the n00b-ness of the question, but I've been looking around and can't find what I'm after.
I'm lucky enough to have a CDMA Diamond (Vodafone UK) but naturally I'm bored with the stock ROM's. I've tried looking about for CDMA compatible ROM's but I'm drawing a blank.
Can anyone help by pointing me to the right place? I'd like a crack at the Energy-ROM series as they look rather tasty, but alas, from what I can work out - they're GSM only.
Am I being a total muppet or are there very few CDMA ROM's out there?
Cheers ta,
Jipper
Thanks for your help everyone, what you've said has been really helpful.
Thankfully, someone outside XDA has pointed me towards another site. Think I'll take my donations there. Fingers crossed they'll actually answer my posts, even if it is to say "Sorry, we can't help."
Jipper
I'm sorry I do not have an idea
I was once like you trying to flash my phone but don't have a single idea how to do it lol although mines a gsm phone. (and am still quite a nooby on how to customize my device & etc)
Just try researching more and one day you'll find the right place.
Good Luck!
If your still looking then go here-->

This site is primaraliy GSM and ppcgeeks is mainly CDMA
Why was nobody active in the community asked for input on the name change? Why was it changed? Maybe I am a little off, but it is no longer the proper name. We do not have an HTC G1, we have an HTC Dream, which T-Mobile calls the G1. Seeing that this site is about HTC phones, and our love for them, shouldn't the name HTC has given the phone be the primary name?
Please change it back!
Also, the HTC Magic and the HTC Kaiser are being affected.
Added a poll! And made it ambiguous so it addresses all the other forum name changes as well.
Dream sounds so much more elegant than g1.
Spain is the only place in the world where the G1 is marketed as the HTC Dream. It's the Era G1 in Poland. Why call it the Dream?
For the life of me, I never understood why HTC's code names for devices prior to them becoming for sale, were uses here.
I say leave the names as they are now. I like the change. I don't own a HTC Rhodium, I own a Touch Pro 2!
The new site owner feels that most people (and particularly noobs) don't use the official HTC name but use the branded names. This leads to a fair amount of posting in the wrong phone section. In addition, when searching (Google say), people do not tend to search on the HTC name.
All Forums will gradually change.
This does not mean however that there may not be some errors eg HTC G1. I will report this.

Thanks for clearing that up, but couldn't we use just the most common marketing name instead of 3 (As on he Kaiser) that would help with clutter.
(From idea by pjcforpres)
Thanks Mike for the quick response! I understand the idea and intentions behind it. It was just a major shock, especially since there was no warrning of the coming change in any of the G1 forums.
I took a closer look at some of the forums that have been converted and new ones that started off this way, and it seems like a good balnce. Seems the format is HTC CODENAM: COMMON NAME; ie HTC LEO: HD2 or HTC DREAM:G1 The Kaiser title seems pretty clustered to say the least.
The subforum titles seems to be the biggest change, though... maybe cary over the title, so in the G1 forums, for example, it isn't G1; G1 Q&A; rather something a bit softer, and longer(makes selecting it on a touchscreen easier) like bringing over the main forum name; ie HTC DREAM:G1 General; HTC DREAM:G1 Q&A; and so forth.

sorry no offence ..... but i ddint get the post....
are you suggesting to change the name of xda forum itself or what else...
remove the damn G2 from hero!!!!
pleeaaase
I think it'll help new people out, as well as searches. I honestly didn't even notice the change, as I just scroll down until I see the picture of the phone that I want
Hey all,
Appreciate the feedback on the name changes. It's impossible for us to please everyone, but most of the mods and devs seemed to agree with the changes to make sure people get to the right place on the site before they start posting. By far the biggest complaint the devs have generally with the site is noobs cluttering forums with dumb questions. Anything we can do to make searching easier will improve that situation.
It's not really all THAT bad, is it?
Hi everyone, I have a Desire HD, (bought it thru Amazon USA), it currently has ARHD 7.0.3 ROM installed and as I said in an earlier post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583912 my 3G connection is malfunctioning.
I've been reading online about this problem an it seems that the Desire HD connect's to a 900/2100 Mhz band (europe) and in my country we use 850/1900 Mhz (american).
The question is: Is there any way I can modify the frequency of the phone so it'll work correctly here, (Chile), or is this a hardware issue?
Thanks for your answer and any other ideas/comment you may have.
Nope, can't change it its a hardware thing.
How many times does this question have to be asked? Search before posting. I have hardly any posts because every question I need to ask has been answered, just like this one has.

ya you will only ever get 2g connection on that phone where you live. nothing can be done about this
Thanks to marsdta and Darunion for your answers, the issue is clear now, you've confirmed what I've been reading.
To gmurphy0487 I'm so sorry to take time away from your busy schedule to read an "already asked and answer question," you even took the time to complain about it, thanks for that! I guess the problem was I didn't take the appropriate amount of time to review this whole forum in it's entirety, I probably will be doing this again and again so, have a go at complaining every time you want, freedom of speech and all that have a nice day!

Only problem is it says in the rules of his forum, search. There is no reason to open a new thread when you could easily have searched and found the answer.

You should flash an American RUU, that might solve your problem...or maybe try CM

Hi shad0wboss, first off thank you for you answer but what do you mean by American RUU? I have no idea where to find it or search for it, I've been searching/reading online but have been unable to find something definitive about it, what is it? an executable file (.exe)? or a zip I can download directly to my phone? If you could point me in the right direction I'll appreciate it very much.
It would be either the att ruu or the telus, BUT it wont do anything. No software can change what frequencies the phone can use. Like mentioned before its a hardware thing
Looks like your best option is to get an unlocked Inspire 4g(American Version) of the Desire HD. Same frequency as Chile I think.

I wouldnt advise it. As breaking forum rules can lead to infractions and bans. A search would hove lead you to one of the hundreds of threads on this.
Now as stated above the bands are hardcoded into the hardware. This can not be changed. Any that say it can be have no idea how it really works
Well after days of not being able to make calls in the office via the Suresignal, and after swapping out the phone for a new one, I had to get a refund.
Really wanted to keep this device, but as a business, and not being able to make or receive calls in the office, it had to go, and yes I've been through the turning WIFI off etc, but every other device I have owned seems to be able to connect to wifi and the Suresignal at the same time and make phone calls.
There seems to be an issue with connecting to the Vodafone Suresignal, and HTC didn't know about the issue when I called, and had no help on the matter.
Such a shame....
it might be kind of a shame to add another thread to so many when there is a returns thread. everyone sees you now, though, and there are tons of dupe threads that stay open so i'm sure you can wait around and get some more replies. =]
Don't really understand the need for your post, I made a valid point, one that CPW and HTC seem (or claim) to be unaware of.
After spending just under £500, I think I have reason to gripe.
The one drawback with forums seems to be a global thing across all forums, is that there is always someone that wants to have a pop and say "do a search before posting" etc, but surely a forum is to ask and seek advice, and discuss, not to just search an archive, we may just as well have a searchable database and be done with if that's the attitude.
Why doesn't a mod just move the thread as is the norm if it's that much of an issue?
As I see it, you have not made any constructive additions to the thread at all, does your One X connect to a sure signal, do you have a solution for it?
Some of us don't have hours and hours to trawl through shed loads of threads and search results, and only spend a few short minutes online when work commitments allow.
Just a tip, if your thread is about Sure Signal, put that in the title.

Haha my phone is fine, get it on a decent network and stop complaining. Don't see the need for your post, complain on a Vodafone web site, and not try to make HTC sound bad, Vodafone network problems if u ask me
HTC is fine.

No need for the hostility, if someone has a solution then help the guy out
Seriously! We were all "noobs" once. Instead of bashing offer help. Sometimes a new user can't always find what they are looking for. Search functions are not always "friendly".
My MoPho's in the kitchen sink!!
So calls are ok outdoor? When the reception is good? Then it is not phone's problem.
One valid solution, ask your boss to place you closer to window.

Come on man. The OP has been a member since 2009, started a dozen threads and been thanked once. I guess some people give to this community, others just take.

I actually agree with this comment.
The OP has RETURNED his phone, hes not posting to ask for a solution before he returns and so isnt actually asking for help to fix something.
If he had been asking for help as a last straw, then yes, a new thread my be a good idea… just stating a fact that hes returned the phone…. kinda pointless
Steve
It's not worth getting bent out of shape over really is it, it's only a phone after all...

Had 2 phones (and yes updated both), HTC had no idea, Vodafone had no idea, Carphone Warehouse had no idea, so what do you do, leave a £500 paperweight on the desk because it can't make calls like any other device on the market, or take it back within the 30 days to get your £500 back?
I searched....and searched for answers, posted on the VF forum, but nobody had any answers, I wonder just how many of you actually use a device for work, and rely on it for communication, instead of just playing angry birds and posting a Facebook update that you've just bought a can of cola!
I see countless complaint threads about "there's a mark on my device, I want it exchanged" or "my screen creaks" etc etc etc, to me, that's petty, but people deem them to be worthy of much discussion.....

Hey.
So I got this phone a few weeks ago, it came from a friend of a friend, who had gotten it somewhere probably in Asia. I had been trying hard to root it, which I achieved through many "universal" root apps combined, sorta kinda.
But now I struggle to find matching ROMs. Indeed, as much as I've googled ans searched the name of my phone, nothing but obscure chinese selling websites came out. No trace of it on xda. No trace on any english or french forum as far as I can tell (I'm from France by the way, bonjour!).
So is there a chance some of you might enlighten me regarding ROMs or the phone? It's running on Android 4.4.4
The phone itself is quite decent by the way, at least for the price I paid
Thanks and sorry if my english is not that great!
