Sooo, I just tried flashing Damage Control 3.5 a few hours ago and since then my phone has been absolutely horrid to me. I tried flashing the PC36IMG.ZIP but it wont let me for some odd reason. I've tried flashing different roms (as long as different radios). All to no avail, the only things I can access is the main recovery screen and the Clockwork recovery screen.
If anyone can help me out here so I don't have to pay the $100.00 claim to get a new phone I will gladly donate to XDA for all they've done thus far.

Shoot, well I guess the best I can do is try to reformat my card and go from there. I'll report back with my findings.
I think i can help, but i might be a bit off since there not enough info on the post.
Anyhow, you will have to:
1) Download a new Image (stock?): ex. qap.la/~netarchy/BurntDroid-1.0-Froyoized-netarchy-signed.zip
2) Doanload a stock kernel: qap.la/~netarchy/netarchy-toastmod-4.0.3a-signed.zip
3) push both images to your /sdcard/
3.1) adb pus file BurntDroid-1.0-Froyoized-netarchy-signed.zip /sdcard/
3.2) adb push netarchy-toastmod-4.0.3a-signed.zip /sdcard/
4) reboot your phone in recovery mode (hold volume down, click power)
5) wipe data/factory
6) whipe cache
7) advanced -> wipe dalvilik
8) Install zip from sdcard
9) choose zip from sdcard: (you should see the BurntDroid-1.0-Froyoized-netarchy-signed.zip there, choose that one, and say yes whe asked)
10) repete number 9 with netarchy-toastmod-4.0.3a-signed.zip
11) now choose +++++
This should get you to a working phone. You will have root and a decent kernel.
I ope this helps.

This is what happens to me when I try to install a rom/kernel. It will work its process and do the "Writing Boot" and "Deleting Files." But once it gets to "copying files," the loading bar will slowly move to 1/4 of the way full, and once it reaches that point it will say Istallation Completed. Does this information give anymore details for help?
Edit: I did try that method, And the same thing happened.

That was the first thing I tried doing. It would do the "Checking MD5 sum..." and then it would just give me an error. I just formatted the sd card (after copying everything to my computer) so im going to transfer my backups back to the SD and see if that does anything.

Does the radio really matter though? I mean, I have a feeling that even if I do flash the new radios that I'm still going to be stuck doing what I'm doing now.
This is exactly what it says when I try to do a restore:
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Error while flashing boot image!

I download them from here, then I set my phone as the "Disk Drive." Or USB Storage when using CM. Move the roms to my phone, then reboot into recovery and flash from there.
Update:
Just tried flashing a different firmware using the old way. With the recovery-windows.bat method.... Seems to still be freezing on boot though. :/
ive seemed to have fixed it. i wiped phone like 10 times. reformatted sd card, installed the rom called virus. it went to bootloop. so i let it do its thing. when i woke up today, it was perfect!

Sounds good man! I'll try that too and see if it works.
Update: Now it's not even turning on and when I plug it in, the orange light just flashes. I know the battery isn't dead because I had it plugged in all day. So, I guess that means I can take it to a sprint store tomorrow and have them be just as confused as I am about the situation, but without having them know that the phone was rooted? Wish me luck!
P.S. Maybe I'll be upgraded from a Nova to an Epson screen? Wishful thinking....

haha yea maybe! that'd be nice, but im sure they would know if you rooted. even if you did, some employees root their phone as well, or at least these 2 dudes at the shop i go to have, so they help me out when i cant get answers here, which, so many people do, thats why i try to keep in contact with certain people on ehre via skype(branden.allert) or aim(backongb561)
I wen't into the Sprint store today in town... The lady was absolutely no help at all. Plus they didnt have any EVO's in stock. So I just decided to screw it and file it as a claim under insurance. I should be getting a replacement in 5-7 days. Hopefully I wont have the screen separated, light leaked, white spot in the lower right of the (NOVA) screen in this next one.
This is for anyone who's bricked their phone (stuck on boot loop):
I know some of you are testing our new ROMs out right now and some testers are bricking their phones, if this happens, just flash a kernel with CWM, then you need to unzip the zip file then copy the folder into clockworkmod/backup folder in your internal storage then restore in ClockworkMod Recovery and you should be at least back on Zedomax V2 kernel + stock ROM.
THIS IS NOT A ROM zip file, just a CWM backup you can restore. (don't try to install from sdcard, it won't work!!!)
Download zip file here:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/Epic4GTouch/development/ZedomaxBackup.zip
After restoring to this stock ROM plus rooted kernel, you can do this to get it completely stock:

Please hurry. bootloops suck That's what I get for not doing a nandroid.
If it's anything like cwm on the evo, you want to avoid restoring someone elses nandroid since it will overwrite your wimax keys...unless the wimax file is excluded.
Samsung stores their wimax keys differently.

Help???
Ok so I need help unbricking....Here is what I did...
Ran odin to root, no problem.
Flashed zedomax kernel, no problem..
Played with apps and settings, quadrant crashed so I went into clockwork and master resert, clear cache, and davlik, to start all over.
now my phone won't boot past bootup logo. I downloaded this recovery backup and no luck. any suggestions?
I am attempting this recovery process now. The following are the results:
ClolkworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.5
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Restoring system...
Restoring data...
.android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/.android_secure.
Restoring cache...
Restore complete!
Then, I reboot but I am still stuck in the bootloop. Any thoughts?
While the restore works, I'm having the data connectivity issue that I wasn't before. Google talk verification failed. I'm gonna pull bubbys kernel and flash it over. I'm still wondering if clockwork isn't wiping properly and that's the reason people are having bootloops.

I'm having the same verification problem with Google Talk. I was having connectivity issues initially but after performing a ##72786# reprovision it seems to be working (at least for now, will update if that proves wrong).
Initially I was able to connect to the web and browse the market but downloading any apps would loop infinitely. The reprovision fixed that as well.
Hopefully we'll see a flashable ROM soon that works as intended but for now this is certainly a good standby. Thank you!
EDIT: Reprovisioning was a panacea. It looked good but I can't maintain a 3G/4G connection for more than a few minutes. Apps will install only after queuing them in the Market then restarting. WiFi connects but I can't download anything over that either. Considering hard-bricking and playing dumb with Sprint so I can exchange it then giving up on the custom stuff until development has progressed.
I was actually thinking of the doing the same thing...if you do hard brick it and take it back, lemme know how it went for you pls,

So I rooted my phone a few days ago, and it was great. Then I decided I wanted to change ROMs. I flashed a ROM that would give me toggle buttons in my notification bar. The upload was taking such a long time, that I realized something was wrong. Then I saw later in the thread it didn't work for Gingerbread. So I went back and flashed the old ROM. Still wouldn't load. Tried everything, still wouldn't load. Then I factory restored.
Then it got stuck in the Sprint 4G, constantly looping making that annoying sound. So then I downloaded a ROM that was supposed be a factory restore since factory restoring didn't seem to work. Now my phone is stuck on the HTC EVO 4G white screen. I'm freaking out, because I really need my phone for business (and an alarm).
It also shows that it was rooted still, so I don't think I could take it in for a replacement tomorrow. Any help, please?

Okay, I can get into bootloader, I've been working on this for hours. I'm still in S-Off, still stuck on the white HTC EVO 4G screen. I can get into recovery now as well. Used my friends phone with my SD Card to put in a new Recovery image that allowed me to access Recovery again.
Where can I get one of these ROMs? I think my phone still considers itself factory restored. I'm worried there might be missing files and whatnot? Is there anyway to download something that has all the necessary files to install onto my phone via Recovery?

Download a rom on your computer for the EVO 4g Example are MikG v3.0 and Tommytomatoe's Classic v0.0.5. Once its downloaded on the computer, transfer the file to your sdcard. Put sdcard back into phone. Boot into recovery and wipe everything EXCEPT your sdcard 3 times. While in recovery, go to flash zip from sdcard and flash (install) the ROM. You will be good after that.

.android_secure is a folder on your SD card. It holds all the apps you have moved to SD.
It only wipes that folder.
Typical wipe is: Data, System, Cache, Dalvik, .android_secure, Boot (Sometimes).
When you flash a new rom, most of that is replaced with the new dataz.
You probably bootlooped your rom in the beginning. Wipe and reflash if that happens again. Sometimes you can get out of bootloops by just wiping the Cache and Dalvik.

Heyy everyone! i have a samsung sgh t989D (telus edition) and i tried to root it. I put CWM and Cyanogen on it via Rom Manager and when i started my phone up it wouldnt get past the boot screen so im stuck in a bootloop. I can get to the CWM recovery page but i dont know what i should and can do to get out of this boot loop. I backed up i phone when i was trying to use the samsung toolkit a while ago but i still dont want to lose my data. I also dont care for the rom or root anymore. So i guess im asking what the best way to unroot my phone would be. Also my phone disconnects itself from my computer at times (my laptop makes the noise that a usb has been unplugged) and im using the stock wire with a usb 2.0 port.
Can you get into download mode or CWM without it rebooting? If not, does it get partially through the boot process before going into an infinite bootloop and vibrating every few seconds? If so, you could be another victim of power button hardware failure.

Your not suppose mount the system, just storage. In TWRP you can mount internal or external storage. Also, I'm not quite getting what you're saying. You have tried taking out the SD card and mounting it directly on your PC and it didn't work?

In the CM9 thread it says to ensure you download/install a CWM Touch recovery - if you don't you're guaranteed to get a boot loop. Their "fix" was to download and flash darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip via recovery and that will fix the problem.
I ended up having the same issue and that's how I fixed it.

Your not suppose mount the system, just storage. In TWRP you can mount internal or external storage. Also, I'm not quite getting what you're saying. You have tried taking out the SD card and mounting it directly on your PC and it didn't work?

Im saying that im stuck in a bootloop and i wana get the data off of my internal storage. I can only get to CWM recovery. I also wana just go back to stock ICS but if i can fix cyanogen without wiping my phone that would be great! i tried to plug in my phone and get my computer to read it so i can browse my phone's internal memory and get the pictures off of the internal storage but it wont recognize my phone. I tried checking all of the things in CWM but none of them worked.

In the CM9 thread it says to ensure you download/install a CWM Touch recovery - if you don't you're guaranteed to get a boot loop. Their "fix" was to download and flash darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip via recovery and that will fix the problem.

Hello guys,
It's my first question to the forum. I hope you can give me a clue resolve this problem.
I bought a Note 2 SGH i317 some days ago.
It was my first root but with your trheads everything was ok (for some days).
I tried JediX, Custom Rom 4.2.5 and some other.
But after tried some custom roms, I noted that when I flash any rom the phone stucks on Samsung Galaxy Note II screen and I have to pull out the battery to turn off the phone.
I tried with many others roms and all did the same.
Later I realized that the flash process was very fast compared to the first ones, so I guess the flash proccess fails in some instance.
I returned to stock rom and root it again with same results.
I tried with CVM and TWRP.
I can restore some nandroid backups to get the phone working, but can't flash any rom now!
Do you have any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Did you wipe the data/wipe the cache partition and clear the dalvik cache? I would start with those things.

Hi.
Yes. I did every step.
Sometimes I wipe both before and after flashing rom.
In some cases I format /system also.
I'm thinking in format some special partition/folder, but I don't know where to start or if it will works...

Not sure what went wrong. I would search through the forums for anything similar to the issue that you're having. If all else fails I'd flash the stock firmware via Odin. Good luck!

Yes it is. You can find the stock here.

If flashing stock rom doesn't help, your internal memory might be corrupted, and might need to format it through recovery.
It's not a sure thing but it's another option to troubleshoot your problem. If you're gonna try that, make sure to backup all your stuff

I think that something like that is the real problem.
Must I format /storage/sdcard0 or format everything except my external card?
By the way, how can the internal memory becames corrupt?

It's hard to say what made it corrupt (if at all, remember, this is only an assumption). Could've been an app that caused it, could've been flashing a custom rom, and something went wrong during the flashing process.
If you're using twrp (which i highly suggest you do), in the 'wipe' menu there's an option to wipe internal sd. DON'T FORGET! before you do this make a nandroid backup and keep that backup on your external sd, or on your computer. Also, backup all your stuff, like pictures, music, etc.

Thank you AlonB.
I'll try.
I'm using CWM right now, because I thought that TWRP could be part of the problem.
I have two backups with CWM and two with TWRP, An one complete with Titanium also!

The only thanks you could give is just hitting the thanks button on my answers to you. But you don't really have to, it's entirely up to you. If you think my responses are helpful to you, then by all means ... In order to close a thread you could ask a moderator to do so. I'm not sure you're obligated to do so.
Btw, if cwm gives you an md5 error, could be most likely because you changed the name cwm has originally assigned to that backup. To solve this, just change it to what it was. If you didn't change the backup name, you could try going into advanced menu in cwm and toggle signature check to disable
