Flashing stock 4.0.4 to deodexed 4.0.4 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello, sorry if this has been answered already, but I haven't found an answer about going to this De-oxed 4.0.4 ROM based on stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481613) from a stock 4.0.4.
I don't have enough posts to ask my question in the Development forum yet, so I'll try the Q&A. The post above states that coming from stock 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 can be flashed without losing data. However some people later in the thread had success with 4.0.3. Is it the same from stock 4.0.4? I've been running the OTA 4.0.4 for about 2 weeks and I love it. I'd just like a de-oxed version for some customizations that I cant do with an odexed version. I don't mind wiping my data and restoring from a backup if I have to, I was just curious if it is possible to flash this without having to do that.
Thank you.

Just as well seeing as your question shouldn't go in Dev anyway!!!
To answer your question, yes you can flash the deodexed ROM over your stock one and if you've not unlocked your bootloader yet you'll lose your data anyway

Sorry, I should have clarified.
I wouldn't have posted this in Development, it would be in response to the above thread. I did see the sticky, and as I am unable to even respond in development, I posted here.
I am unlocked, as well as rooted.

Looking for VZW 4.0.2 update to apply in CWM

Searched for this and asked in Q&A. It's all GSM people. Haven't found anything for the CDMA version. You guys are the best resource
I'm rooted/unlocked with permanent CWM.
The phone keeps interrupting me with the update notification.
It fails to install because I have CWM.
I don't want to install a new ROM, just want the update. Is there an update for 4.0.2 that can be applied through CWM? ... like an update.zip anything flashable to bring me to 4.0.2?
Thank you all for your hard work.
Just because you don't get an answer to your question doesn't mean you post it in development section.

why not odin chainfires 4.0.2 .tar ?

That wasn't my reasoning. It was a development related question about files that development would likely have. That's why I thought it was the most logical spot for it.
My apologies.

Thank you. That's what I was looking for. Found it in the GSM nexus development area btw.
Here's the link if anyone is looking for it.

Jb upgrade advice

Hi all... Stupid question time,
I've only got into custom roms etc and I'm running black ice at the moment.
I fancy a look at jelly bean so is it as simple as revert back to ics via my backup and ota update?
Will it matter that I'm rooted and have an unlocked bootloader?
Cheers in advance.

No. The OTA update will not work unless you are running IMM30D (which I doubt your backup is). Easiest way, just flash a fully-functioning custom JB stock rom. There are more than a few found in the development sections of this forum.

Cheers Anton I'll start hunting... Anyone recommend any simple ones.. As I said I'm new to this.
Most popular one seems to be this one for GSM.

Lovely job... Cracking bloke.. Thanks for your time mate.
Just had a look... Could be way above my level at the moment... Didn't mind flashing blackice as it was quite simple... This looks quite deep or am I reading it wrong?

Gnex i9250xxla2 still no OTA Jelly Bean

I have a Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.4 i am checking every day for an update but nothing there yet, i don't want to flash my nexi with rom i want the custom version. Did anybody get the OTA in the i9250xxla2 Nexus, ore is there any way to install the custom jelly bean in the phone without rom-s and get the stock version.
dude making 3 threads related to the same thing doesnt help your cause.
Posting the baseband doesn't help you in your cause too.
Posting in general section generally won't help in your cause anyway, this belongs in the Q&A..
Post the version number..............
I presume that you probably have the yakjuux variant? Are you in Canada?

If you're rooted already, just flash a custom ROM :good:
You can 'update' to Android Version 4.2.1 Jellybean now

If you haven't seen this before, maybe you should wear glasses...I don't get the question as you are not very clear. If you are S-OFF and running a custom rom, updating via software (menu>about software...) might brick your device.
If you are just rooted, then you will root. S-OFF is pretty different from Root, so if you want a 2.3.5 rom you have plenty of them in the development section of the forum...and even as guy says, you have even JB roms.
Maybe you need to do some research before posting this things that are covered all around the forum.

4.1.2 Is out....now what?

Ok, well here is the million dollar question from me for the day....does this root method- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743780&page=1 work with the latest update for the sprint GS3 SPH-L710?

You could have just asked your question in the thread you posted.

Actually I can't. That thread requires you to have a certain post count before you can post into it.

No matter what Android version this phone gets updated to, unless the bootloader is locked and no longer allows us to flash custom recoveries, root methods will continue to work.
We don't need to look for exploits in order to root the GS3.
Cmon dude, you shouldve searched because this is probably the 4th / 5th thread asking this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169599
If you're rooted, you can just flash a 4.1.2 rom and update your modem to the 4.1.2 modem by grabbing it from freezas stock rom thread, thats pretty essentially all that changed

I did search and I came across this thread already (as well as a few others). However all were posted before the 4.1.2 update was released OTA so I was not sure. I had a few android devices before and each needed an exploit or tool that varied based on what Android version you had (i.e-unrevoked for evo4g on 2.3.4 that did not work on 2.3.5). My GS3 is still unrooted so I can't just flash the rom. I was asking if I can still root using the posted method on 4.1.2 since I did not come across any posts with that question and this is the first device I have had that does not require an OS based exploit to root it.

Ok ok, wasn't trying to come off in the way you interpreted it. But now you know, and Samsung devices in general are super easy to root
And also, the MB1 update that they talk about in that thread is the latest 4.1.2 OTA, so idk what you're talking about
Updates are referenced by the build number, hence LJ7 being 4.1.1, MA6 was the first 4.1.2, and MB1 was the second 4.1.2 OTA
yes it works
i can confirm for you that yes it works. i did it today.
I JUST got this update too
Thanks a lot. Sorry it took me so long to reply
